What’s going on real man Manory is that am I saying that right? Real man. R I is balling. Real man. What’s going on, man? Yeah, it’s I think it’s going to be a tough one today. All right, cool. Just went want to make sure I was saying it right. Hey, thanks for stopping by, man. We’re going to uh So, we’re going to get this thing rolling here. Make sure I got everything good. Yep. Yep. We’re going We’re going to be stealth for a lot of it, though. Um Yeah. Going to be stealth for for a little bit of it. But yeah, I I think this will be a it’s it’s going to be a good game for summer league. I you definitely can’t take what happens in summer league and then, you know, in any type of way and say this is related to the regular season that’s coming. uh maybe you can see you you definitely get to see what your rookies and your second year players or whatever how much they’re improving or where they might be able to fit in. So I I’m hoping I’m hoping all the guys the Hornets drafted this year can make the team, you know, be on the sidelines and and and and get some get some playing time. Uh I was looking at a guy looking at a uh a person was writing some information yesterday about the Hornets uh which I’ve mentioned and that’s our uh our uh front court. our front court. We’ve got rid of all our bigs and and and the Hornets did that like I mean it was like hey Suns we going to get we going to give you both our big both of our big guys and we get rid of u Williams which we saw that coming but then our our big room is is uh who the the big kid from the the uh what’s the name? um called Brennan. Uh then we got uh my my guy from Duke that was on the team to to be on the team a few years ago. Now we brought him back. And then we got uh Diabate and you know Diabate is a a small a small big but I mean I don’t understand what it is there. I guess the Hornets feel like they can go small and be effective. I I’m I don’t like it. I don’t like it. I I I’ve always since we’ve had Al Jefferson back in the day, I wanted the Hornets to get a find a Jefferson type, which that’s going to be hard to do regardless because, you know, the big guys just don’t don’t work like that anymore. Uh, North Carolina State had a had a big guy that remind me of Al Jefferson. Guy that played down low. I can’t remember his name. That’s just me. I can’t remember names. Uh, they threw the ball down to him and and he just he got he got busy down there. But I don’t even think he made an NBA team. I don’t think he’s on the NBA roster at all. I don’t even know if he’s playing for uh the G-League. But that type of guy, you just throw it down on the box. They they they post up. You throw it down there and they get busy. They got big man moves. The Hornets haven’t had that in years. And now it looks like now it looks like they’re just they don’t even care about that anymore. Just getting rid of all big guys. So maybe they got a an idea. I just know anytime we play a team that has a big guy that could do any type of scoring, they’re gonna kill us like they always do. Anytime they have a anytime we play a team with a big a big man that can score a little bit and like my boy for the Rockets, they they gonna kill us. But hey, I guess that’s why I’m not in the uh that’s why I’m not uh that’s why I’m not managing the team, huh? Ain’t going to be a scary one. Yeah, you’re you are uh I watch the game I watch the game live on TV, but I like I like coming Terry too. Cool. Cool. Uh, do you think Ryan Collbrer will start today? You mean? Uh, I think so. But again, like I don’t know. I don’t know about I don’t know what these Hornets do like and they’ve been doing this they do this throughout the season where they just sit guys out like you know somebody I think I mentioned this the last during the last game. The Hornets will play somebody for three games and then it’s like they got to take a break like I don’t get it, man. You’re like, you you signed up to play basketball. You got a contract to play basketball. Play basketball, dude. The Hornets want to win or what? So, how you going to win if if if you’re setting everybody out every three? Somebody’s got to set out every three games. And that happened all last year. And it was happening the year before last. Only the only person that I know that that played like every game, you know, would be like Miles. Miles uh Miles Bridges, everybody else would take take days off. I don’t know if it’s are we injured that much or did the Hornets just say, “Hey, this is what this how we’re going to run. This is how we’re going to run our team.” You know, you play three games in a row, you got to take a break. I don’t get it. But yeah, hopefully I I hope I hope Cog Brenner plays tonight like but but you know they did they did set um they did set uh uh uh Canippo out um McNeely didn’t play uh the last game. So, it might be Brener’s time. And if he doesn’t play, then we really don’t have a a big man. This this will be a a time for us to see uh see exactly what the Hornets are trying to do or what what the Hornets going to look like this coming up season. We’re going to go small small ball period, I guess. Hey, and that’s okay if you got um that’s okay if you’re playing a big that doesn’t score a lot, right? Because then when that big has to come out and and play with that power forward, the power forward should have the advantage getting to the basket, I guess. Uh but if you got a big that can score, uh and we’re playing against a big that can score, I just see them dominating. I see that team going to their big because they’re going to always have the the match or the mismatch. But we’ll see. We’ll see what happens. Maybe the Hornets still got some ideas and got some moves to make. I don’t know where they where they’re going to get a big another big from, but we got a bunch of guards and power a bunch of guards and forwards. So, I guess we could still make some moves, I guess. Like if you read my um if you read my uh description of tonight’s event and the last and the last game, like he’s uh he surprised me. I didn’t even know he was on the uh in the G on the G- League team. Didn’t know anything about him till uh you know, he started getting all that playing time la last season. And uh I was like this dude this dude can ball. He can ball. So, I’m I’m hope I think the Hornets are going to are going to keep him, you know. I don’t see why they why they’re not. And when I say keep, I mean, you know, on the team, on the bench, you know, get in the rotation. He got a lot of playing time last year. So, that’s why Hornets are are That’s why Hornets on my team. I got you. Look, I I feel you. I feel you 100%. Like uh I guess I guess uh I guess my um connection to that would be like a a while ago. Like heck, it probably be like it probably 20 years ago now. Uh my uh I got a I got a first cousin. His name is uh Orlando’s Gary. He played for the Broncos. Now I I never I didn’t I can’t say that the Broncos became my team because he was on the team. Nah, but I did watch a lot more of the Broncos games when he was there. It I mean it’s different when you know somebody that that’s playing on the team. Different. Like I always talk about the uh uh back in the day when Michael Jordan was playing for the Bulls. I was never a a Bulls uh fan. I just like Michael Jordan because he played for North Carolina and North Carolina was my team. So when he retired and went to the pros, I always kept up with him. So when he went to the Bulls, I always watched the Bulls. I wanted the Bulls to win because Michael Jordan was on the team, but I was never a Bulls fan. I never bought any of those Air Force the black and red. I’m talking when he first got I never bought that. I never had a Bulls t-shirt hat. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. And I I actually wasn’t even a I actually didn’t even watch the pros that like that until Michael Jordan got there. Um, and then of course I think I don’t know how many years it was a few years after he got there if I’m not mistaken is when the Hornets franchise was created. And I mean since Hornets are it’s a North Carolina team that’s I was like hey you got to cheer for that team. So that that is the Hornets have been my first uh my first NBA uh team that I to cheer for. Um and it’s just like uh just like the Panthers. I cheer for the Panthers now, but before the Panthers were even uh established, uh I was a Dallas Cowboy. I was Dallas Cowboy. Now I don’t even cheer for the Dallas Cowboys. And I don’t know if that’s one of their main focuses on winning the championship, but if these guys were to just focus and concentrate uh not not turn the ball over or whatever like they’ve done here a few times here at the end getting a little bit too lack of days because they have a big have a big lead. They could have probably beat this team by 30 some points and have enough to to uh to earn first place. Uh they still have a chance. They’re uh 24 points. In the second quarter, uh it was 3413 Hornets. In the third quarter, 2717 Hornets. And in the fourth quarter, the San Antonio Spurs won that one 30-23. Uh the Let’s look at every player they got. Uh, double figures for the San Antonio Spurs. Carter Bryant with 16 points. He had five rebounds. Uh, David Jones Garcia had 12 points, nine rebounds. Almost got a double double. Harrison Ingram 17 points and four rebounds. Off the bench, let’s see. to the bench ended up scoring us at 5 10 15 22 25 points. Not bad for uh the uh Spurs. Uh Jamir Nelson scored five points. Magnus had three. Uh Cam Carter with seven points. Oifo had five. Agabo or Agbo, excuse me, did not score in the game. And then uh Dexter Dennis had five points and two rebounds. And for your Charlotte Hornets who have clinched the birth in the um in the playoffs for summer league, Cog Brener with 21 minutes had nine points. So, I think he had the fewest minutes of starters right there with nine points. He had five rebounds. Uh, Khan Canipple 19 points. It’s the second game in a row he’s played very well or scored very well, put it that way. He also had five assist, excuse me, six assists and five rebounds. KJ Simpson 19 points also with six assists and five rebounds. Looked like they were trying to match each other. Uh Jaylen Sims had 11 points. I think he could have had a few more. Uh uh he did have three turnovers, but also but so did Khan Caniple. And uh KJ had two. But uh I think Si Sims is a decent player. He just needs to calm down a little bit. Let things come to him. He still had 11 points, uh five assists, and six rebounds. MJ Walker ended up scoring 13 points. I really think this guy is known as a three-point shooter, outside shooter, because he was letting them fly. He wasn’t hitting a whole lot today, but he let him fly. He did settle down there in the second half and get a few uh cuz at once he was one of I think it was one of seven or something like that. ended up four of 11 from behind the three-point line. He was four of 12 from the field. So, if that tells you anything, if that tells you anything, yeah, I he took one shot that wasn’t up behind the arc. PJ Hall had a a very good game. I hope he has opened the eyes of some some of the uh the franchise uh notables of franchise man, you know, the organization because uh I think we could use PJ. He’s not he’s a big body. He carves out a little space. He’s aggressive and I I mean I think we could use him. He had 11 points, only one turnover, eight rebounds, playing that stretch four or stretch five that he that he plays. DJ Rodman, six points, not bad there, young man. Uh, three rebounds. Damian B had a breakout game for summer league. He had 18 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. All right, and finally, let’s go over the team stats. Boy, this is what I really want to take a look at. Then we’re going to then we’re going to get out of here so I can see what see what Bronnie does tonight. See what Bronnie does tonight. You know, some I look at a lot of uh podcast and they brought up an interesting uh Gills Arena brought up an interesting point. Which one of those guys did they draft last year that looks like he’s improved? Looks like he’s, you know, has confidence to be playing out there. And between Connect and and um and Bronny, it it it looks like Ronnie. I’m just I’m just I just want the kid to improve. You know what I’m saying? Don’t don’t care too much about his dad, but I I just I just like to see guys that that get put down improve. Now, do I think if he wasn’t if his last name wasn’t James that he would have gotten drafted in the in the first round? It was first round, was it? Yeah. Yeah. No, he he wouldn’t have. He wouldn’t have. But however you get there, you get there. Turn up while you’re there. You know, show people why you why you deserve to show people that you can play. All right, here we go. Team stats, uh San Antonio scored they they they were 34% from the field while the Hornets were 52%. Three-point shooting, San Antonio hit 14. Kind of if you even if you’re looking at the game, you wouldn’t think that they hit just as many threes as the Hornets, but they hit 14 out of 45 for 31%. The Hornets only hit 15 or they hit 15. They went 15 of 36 which makes it a a much better a much better percentage. 41% from behind the three-point line. Now, here’s the thing we got to really look at. Hornets free throw percentage. San Antonio 81.3%. They were 13 of 16. Not bad, not terrible. I always say, you know, if you’re playing high school through college, I mean, high school through pros, you know, I have no sympathy for you if you cannot hit free throws. That that’s that’s something you can work on by yourself or whatever. If you’re not doing good at it, go shoot hundreds of them. You know what I’m saying? Hey, they shot 81%. I say you need to shoot 85% as a team. The Hornets once again with a low free throw shooting percentage 65%. They were 15 to 23 at now in tight games. This hurts you. It can hurt you. I’m telling you. I don’t know how many games I’ve been involved in, coached or whatever, seen the Hornets play to where you lose by two or three points and you go back and look at your free throws and you miss 10. changes the game. All right, rebounding 37 to 42 Hornets. Assists, 18 to 26 Hornets. I love to see that. 26 assists by the Hornets. That means they had to pass the ball. Hopefully, this will carry into the regular season. And I’ve got a whole another spill about that, but let’s move on. Uh, steals 12-6 Hornets. Blocks five to five. That was tied right there. Turnovers 18 turnover by San Antonio. 14 by the Hornets. Now, I would dare say that most of those came in the fourth quarter where things got a little bit lackadasical for the Hornets. You know, they had a big lead and so they started making these, you know, passes that weren’t necessary. Something they probably wouldn’t do if the game was close. People got to learn to play like the game is close. You know what I’m saying? The whole game. That that’s going to that’s going to help the Hornets in the long run. All right. Um and 24 fouls by uh San Antonio and 18 by the Hornets. And the Hornets are in looks like second place, but they definitely they are definitely one of the top four teams. The Hornets are 2-0 in Summer League action. McNeely has been the most impressive young Hornets so far. Simpson, the point guard who saw a lot of playing time last season, has played like the veteran of the group. Kouckbrenner the 7 footer has shown good toughness and defensive awareness in his time on the floor. Kon Kuenepple missed the last game and only scored four points in the first but had a break- out game against the Mavericks. I still think things are going to work out for him as a Hornet.
