Damian Lillard BACK to Portland!
Wow. Okay. I didn’t see this one coming. Breaking news out of the NBA. Damen Lillard is going back to Portland. So, obviously, anybody’s first reaction should be that, hey, this is pretty cool that Dame’s hopefully now going to retire as a Blazer. But, do I hate good stories if I think 3 years 42 million with a no trade clause is kind of weird for the Blazers? especially when Shams just tweeted that Dame’s other offers were multiple mid-level exceptions and minimum offers from contenders. So, who were the Blazers bidding against? It also makes the Drew Holiday trade even weirder than it already was. And look, I still think Dame can be really good coming off the injury next season. To me, he’s more of like a 20 a minute a game, score off the bench type of guy, but I also just can’t help feel like this isn’t a great sign for my guy Scoot Henderson. I’m happy for Dame and maybe he’s either a trade piece in a year or the sixman on the Blazers title team in 2028.

I’m glad Dame is going back to Portland because a majority of the reporting when he was in Milwaukee said that being away from his kids really took a toll on him and it affected his play. So obviously him going back is huge, but it also makes you realize it’s more than just basketball for some of these guys. Dame’s probably done after this contract ends, and it’ll likely end a fabulous career that was missing one thing and that was a championship. Also a side note, the fact that he’s going back makes me upset he even asked for a trade because he could’ve been a lifer.

Your analysis is spot on. As a longterm Blazer fan & Dame fan, this move doesn’t make much sense for the Blazers (Scoot shouldn’t be stoked). Dame is very talented at extracting the most amount of money possible from the Blazers and he was already moving back to PDX to rehab his injury next season, so makes great sense for him! 🙄

“Multiple teams offered the MLE” so the blazers offer the same 14 million MLE that other teams offered and that’s over payed even though it’s the same? But regardless of all that 14 million to have Dame sit in the corner and make 3s is still a good deal.

I said it in one of your other Dame videos how cool it’d be for him yo go back home. But ya I definitely agree Portland has a lot of guards. I still highly doubt Jrue is there come training camp. I think Scoot is fine I think this will be good for him in terms of a mentor for him to learn and grow but he’s gotta start showing some signs this year or take a big leap cause he’s still very young but ya it’s getting time for him to really take that next leap

Nah Dame won't play at all next season so Jrue gets the spot. This season will be a break out or bust type season for Scoot. Jrue is our guy for the 2025-26 season. I can see him & Dame running things for the 2026-27 season. Scoot can either get with it or be moved
it works because he’s not playing next year and this gives time for him to get healthy as well as scoot to learn from dame and jrue. if scoot doesn’t work as you want it you trade him as he will have a nice price tag and the rest of the pieces are on this team to be a real playoff team
