Nique Clifford Continues To Shine #nba #nbasummerleague #sacramentokings
The Summer League Kings move to 4-0 and keep their hopes for a record third summer league championship alive. We’ll see if they actually make the semifinals because it’s possible there could be more than four 4-0 teams and then it comes down to tiebreers and things like that. But the Kings did everything they could to make the playoffs and they did it by beating the Cleveland Cavaliers in the ugliest game so far for the Kings. It was very much a summer league game. turnovers, couldn’t grab a defensive rebound to save their lives. The Cavaliers grabbed 23 offensive rebounds and had 23 more shot attempts than the Kings. The Kings were also without Mason Jones, which put a lot of pressure on Devin Carter to be a lead ball handler. And it wasn’t always pretty. There were turnovers. There were moments where he just couldn’t really handle the pressure that was being applied to him. And so in kind of a mess of a game where the Kings couldn’t hit a three-point shot in the first half, there was one guy that really stood out and took control of this game to be able to lead the Kings to a win, and that was Ne Clifford. This guy throughout summer league has just been so consistent. It’s amazing. 19 points, nine assists, seven rebounds, only one turnover. Every time when a King’s position would get chaotic or there was it was really going nowhere, the ball would find Neat Clifford’s hands. and I knew that he would make the right decision and he would make a play. He showed off his individual shot creation, his pull-up threes, his mid-range ability, floaters, obviously the ability to pass with the nine assist to only the one turnover. He looks amazing. Also, Maxim Renault was back after missing one game. He came in, contributed three blocks. The rebounding needs to get better. He needs to get stronger down there, but was good around the rim. Isaiah Stevens also had a nice game stepping up in the absence of Mason Jones. 13 points, five assists, was big in steadying the Kings in the second half. And then Isaac Jones had a really nice game, especially in the first quarter. Scored 17 points, showed his finishing ability around the rim with his physicality, finishing through contact. So now hopefully the Kings can go and win a championship in summer league.
