Blazers rookie Yang Hansen describes draft night experience and career goals | NBA Today
Seven more games of summer league action last night. It just keeps going. So, let’s run through some summer standouts here. We’re going to start with VJ Edgecom here. He looked great in this one after his return from a thumb injury. Almost got stuffed at the rim there, but muscles threw it. That doesn’t happen often. And then Edgecom once again. Okay. A little little cleaner there. Yeah, that’s what you’ve been used to seeing from him, right? And then the fourth quarter here. Slicing inside Iman for the nice little layup. That boy got some hamstrings on him. Little little shake there with 15 points, six rebounds in this one. I don’t know if I’ve ever heard somebody say, “Look at the hamstrings on him.” All right, let’s go to Jeremiah and Derek Queen here. Two rookies in New Orleans. Beers gets a steal, goes the other way for the jam. I do love that he’s his it’s zero fears. I hate zero fears. I love his man. I do, too. And then queen. I mean, they they traded up for him. He better be good. What they gave up. Finish side. Big man. Hey. Hey. I have it. I have it. Get you a big man who can uh have a little jumper like that. Little touch. Finished with 17 and 10. Fears chipped in 14 points. Promising Stein here for New Orleans. And then there is Yang Hansen. Uh this has been perhaps a story of the summer. Hits a three here. So many fans show up to see him play here. There’s some package. And then Hodson, look at this. Little little dream shake. I’m bigger than you. A little touch little touch footwork. This one he leads the Blazers to a 9387 victory. He’s impressed with his passing, his feel for the game. He’s averaging just under 12 points, 3.3 assists, two blocks in these three summer league games. Let’s get it. Now welcoming in Portland Trailblazers first round pick Yang Hansen and his translator Chris. Gentlemen, we really appreciate you taking the time to to chat with us a little bit. I am curious, what’s the biggest difference you see between playing basketball in the United States and and playing basketball in China? the NBA they got faster pace and everyone just like just really hook go hook and just if you got shot you take it but in China maybe be more organized like they want to play some specific uh like uh plays on the court. Yeah, we’ve heard in in some of your interviews that you already have some favorite English phrases. Can you can you share some of those with us? And also any food that you’ve had here in America that’s already rising to the top of your list. What’s been your favorite? Oh, some some noodles. Yeah, noodles. And Chong hamburger and also some some Chinese restaurant in Portland. I have I don’t have time to go everyone but I when I back to Portland I will try I will go try and know some local burger that’s pretty good too. Yeah, I caught hamburger in the mix there. Portland is a great food city so there’s going to be plenty that you’re trying. This is one of my my favorite things is to see a player who maybe isn’t sure exactly if they’re going to be taken or not in the first round and to go anyway to attend at Bararklay Center to be out in the stands. Can you just take us through what was going through your head when you finally heard your name be called here? I mean for sure it’s a big shock for me. I mean I just surprised when when Adam called my name this I that surprised me. I was just sitting there finishing my fried chicken and I I still I didn’t I didn’t even put my suit on. So suddenly they told me Hansen Hansen like take your suit off. I said huh? And they just take it off and suddenly so when camera cut caught me I still try to make the suit go looks good before I touch my suit. I still use t-shirt to clean my hand. I don’t want the oil mess up with my suit. Oh, smart man. Smart man. We need to get the man a napkins for his snacks next time. But that’s very, very important. It’s a long night. you want to become prepared. Uh, final question before we let you two go here, Hansen, when you look ahead at your NBA career, what’s your goal? What what do you want to achieve in this league? [Music] I mean to be honest I just I can’t I can’t say anything big if if co if CB or coach uses me on in the game I will treasure every minute I have I mean I just try to do my job well I focus on my own game I mean for in the long term I just I I just want to become a versatile player. here. Try to help my team as more as I can. Like grand more wings. Yeah, that’s it. That’s an excellent bite-sized goal to be able to be looking at this step by step. Hansen Chris, thank you so very much for the time and for stopping by uh NBA today. We appreciate you. Thank you. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]

I live and study in China. Americans have no idea how good the food is here. It's nothing like the Chinese food you see in the US.
Young handsome
Don’t eat too much fried chicken 😂😂
No Kai Sotto spotted in NBA 😆😆😆
There is no food in America. Petroleum based food is not food. https://youtu.be/wYTEIk2wiHY?si=t9o9QZlra8JAIBvy
2:37 …never ask 2 questions in 1 , while dealing with a translator. The first question always gets ignored

He's going to be great in this league. Hoping he stays healthy. It can be hard for big men like him. A very smart and very entertaining player to watch.
Very lovely kid with talented skills especially in organizing the offensive end. More clips please.
I don't care, Hansen is handsome and Malika is pretty! That's all I have learnt from this video.

The fact that he’s being so real about having fried chicken, loving the PS5 n sleep… No bs, no bragging, n be respectful n humble to the teammates, coaches n others without speaking fxxk all English, it’s hard not to like this dude.
Reporter: So, what’s your impression of the city of Portland?
Yang Hansen: Haven’t had the chance to figure it out yet
Translator: Legendary people, magical vibes. Straight out of a fantasy novel!

Hansen is still shy in the interview, but we can tell he is adapting quickly, and trying to speak English words by himself. He will progress fast on the court as well as in English.
Kenny's Noodle House. My wife is Chinese and we take all of our Chinese friends there. Very authentic (so I'm told).
The translator was happier than Yang himself.
