🚨MAJOR Mavericks Trade Report On Dean Wade Per NBA Insider

Could the Mavericks be making another move here in the 2025 NBA offseason? Welcome in to Mavericks today by chat sports. Jeffrey Cooperstein here with you guys. Hope everyone had a great weekend. And over the weekend, there were trade rumors surrounding CA Cavaliers forward Dean Wade that popped up. So, we’re going to talk about it here on today’s show. I think it’s an intriguing proposition for the Mavericks. to get us started here with today’s poll question. Should the Mavs trade for Dean Wade? Type T for trade, type P for pass. We’re going to let you know all the latest on D. Wade right here. But before we do that, get your comments in if you think the Mav should trade for. The initial report came in from Chris Fedor of the Cleveland Plane dealer, very notable Cavaliers reporter, and he said this. It’s worth noting that there was plenty of chatter in the desert about defense first forward Dean Wade possibly being moved and unrestricted free agent the following season. The current belief is Wade likely wouldn’t return to Cleveland with the cap with capstrap Cleveland being unable to afford him. So, do the Cavs try to get something of value now before he potentially departs? Sources say numerous contenders from each conference have expressed interest. The Dallas Mavericks have been fans for a few years and former a former Cleveland assistant is part of the coaching staff. I thought the the line of fans for a few years is interesting. It sounds like the Mavericks have been at least monitoring the possible availability of Dean Wade for a while now. And this could be a potential solid addition for the for the Dallas Mavericks. And I’ll tell you why here in just a second. But let’s take a look at his numbers first. He spent all his entire year with the cle his entire career, excuse me, with the Cleveland Cavaliers where he he puts up modest numbers like you’re not looking at his stats and you’re like, “Wow, this is a fantastic player.” He’s a solid shooter from three-point land, but where he really makes his hey is on the defensive side of the basketball. And I think that if the Mavericks were to add him to their forward group, he could absolutely play a role for this team coming off the bench. And the best part about it is he’s making $6.6 million this next season and it’s an expiring contract. So, I think Dean Wade would be a potential great fit for this Mavericks team for a couple of reasons. Number one, the salary certainly matches with a certain someone we’re going to talk about here in a second. And number two, defensive versatility. That’s what Nico Harrison wants. That’s what he wants this team to be is defensive and versatile. Dean Wade is both of those standing at 69 plus and on the defensive end guarding the bigger wings at a pretty high level u the threes and the fours. You don’t really want him guarding fives. I definitely think he could guard some fours though. So I I do think that this is a move if it’s available to Nico Harrison and the Mavericks. They could potentially make and I don’t think it would cost very much. I think you’re looking at Jaden Hardy and a second round pick. Hardy obviously is going into that first year of his three-year $18 million contract. So those salaries match pretty much identical between Dean Wade and Jaden Hardy. Pretty easy deal for the Mavericks to make if they could do it. And I do think that if they were able to pull off this trade between the Mavericks and the Cavaliers, swapping Hardy for Wade gives you another playable piece on this team that’s trying to contend. You can’t play Jaden Hardy in games that matter down the stretch. You can play Dean Wade in games down the stretch that matter. And the name of the game is depth. Dean Wade adds depth to this team. I know there are some people who think Jaden Hardy still has the potential to become something here in a Maverick’s uniform. I just don’t see it. I think he’s hit his ceiling. He’s a guy who can score in volume. He really can’t do much else, though. I think Wade provides more valuable skills to this Mavericks team this season. That would help. And the Mavericks are in a win now scenario considering all of their core is above 30 basically with Kyrie and Anthony Davis. Not all of their core, but Kyrie and AD being the biggest part of the core. And then bringing in Cooper Flag. This team is built to win right now. And Dean Wade helps the Mavericks win right now more than Jaden Hardy would. Grade this trade for me down in the comment section. All right, let’s take a look here at the Mavericks roster. And I have left Jaden Hardy off of it just because we there are 16 places and only 15 spots for us to put names there. So Hardy is on this roster currently as well. And at the moment, the Mavericks have 16 guys and which means you can only go into the regular season with 15 guaranteed NBA contracts. So the Mavs have to make a roster move. We’ve already talked about Jaden Hardy, but the other one I think is obvious, and it’s Olivier Maxon’s Prosper, who’s going into his third NBA season after the Mavericks took him in the first round of the 2024 NBA draft. Prosper really hasn’t got a chance to flourish here with the Mavericks. He’s dealt with some injuries, including the surgery that he had on his wrist that made him miss the last part of the 2425 season. Excuse me. Uh, but look, I think either of these guys is definitely a possibility to be traded. And I think if they trade for Dean Wade, both of them have to be moved because that would add another guy on this roster. So, you would trade Hardy for Dean Wade in theory. And then you still have 16. So, that means that Prosper likely has to go as well. Um, and I think that at the end of the day, if the Mavericks had to get rid of Jaden Hardy and Omax, it wouldn’t be the end of the world. I think can still be a good player in this league. Just don’t think it’s going to happen here with the Dallas Mavericks. They do still have, by the way, until October to finalize this roster. So, these decisions don’t have to be made imminently. And if they really did want to go into training camp with 16 guys, they could, by the way, I forgot to mention this. Training camp this season is going to be held in Vancouver. It was held in Las Vegas last year. They’re going to be spending the week up in Vancouver before preseason begins. So, just a little note on that. But they do have until October to finalize this roster. And whether or not Hardy, Omax, and even maybe Dwight Pal are still here remains to be seen. I don’t think that they’re going to move on from Dwight Pal who picked up his player option. Jaden Hardy and Olivier Max Prosper are more than likely to be the one or two guys that are going to be gone. And by the way, Max Olivier was drafted in the 23 draft, not the 24 draft. I know I said that earlier, but I certainly think that one of these guys is going to be gone, if not both. I don’t think it’ll be all three. There’s a small chance that Dwight Pal could be traded, but the Mavericks love him. So, I think if you want him gone, keep dreaming and maybe it’ll come true, but very, very unlikely. The Mavericks still have to make a roster move. So, I want you guys to be the GM down there in the comment section. What is one roster move you want the Dallas Mavericks to make? What is one move you want the Mavs to make? If it were me, I think I want to trade Jaden Hardy for something. Whether it’s Dean Wade, who has been mentioned as a potential Mavericks link, whether it’s uh somebody else that we haven’t even talked about here on the show, I think Jaden Hardy is the most likely to be moved. And if I had to make one final move for the Mavericks to finalize their roster for the 2526 season, that would be the move I would make. and then you can make a corresponding move like trading for somebody else. So I the one move I’m making is getting rid of Jaden Hardy. Whether it’s just for picks to finalize the roster or to get another guy in here that can play and then they have to make another move.
