🚨MAJOR Jonathan Kuminga Update | Golden State Warriors News
Another new week means another new Jonathan Kaminga update as the saga continues to roll on throughout the 2025 NBA offseason. You’re watching Warriors Today by chat sports. I am your host Tyler Smith and on today’s show, no new real developments just yet on the Kaminga front, but there are new updates on what’s really going on behind the scenes and really why this has not been finalized and a decision has yet really to be made on Jonathan Kaminga’s at least short-term future, whether it be with the Golden State Warriors or the two sides find a partner to complete a sign and trade. This coming in from Brett Seagull over at Clutch Points. He says that Kaminga’s camp wants a big deal. This is why everything is being held up pretty much so far. Kaminga’s camp wants a big deal in the $30 million a year range and don’t want to be back with the Warriors. Golden State wants a small deal in the $20 million range where they can flip him in uh because, you know, there’s no market at this point. And then the dubs are still holding out hope that a sign with the Bulls can happen. Iodumo is a good player. So, we’re going to unpack pretty much all three levels of what Seagull said here throughout today’s show and kind of try to piece together what could happen with Kaminga’s future. Before we do though, make sure you are subscribed to the channel. We are on our way to not even 98,000. We’re on our way to 100,000 subscribers here at Warriors Today. I cannot thank you guys enough for all the support that you’ve shown on the channel over the past few months. It has been awesome and I want even more Die Hard Dubs fans to join us and get free informative entertaining Warriors content every single day. We’re 280 away from 98K. Hey, go down below and hit that subscribe button for free Warriors content every day. All right, if we’re going to take anything major away from the entire Kaminga saga so far to this point, and this probably dates all the way back to, you know, a over a year ago at least, both sides here are playing some of the greatest game of hard ball that I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Kaminga on the on the one hand, he wants$25 to $30 million a year. Well, jokes’s on him, he declined $25 million a year before the season started when he could have signed that extension back in October. So, he put himself in a little bit of a of a rut there, but I can’t like call the Warriors completely blameless throughout the situation as well because they really think they’re going to get a first round pick back for Kaminga when there’s literally no market for the guy. It doesn’t really compute here. It feels like to me the Warriors hold Kaminga in a higher regard than basically the entire NBA does at this point. So, it doesn’t seem like either side is budging right now and it is going to take some time before we see a resolution. That’s why I think it was Jake Fischer had said that this could easily leak into the month of August. And Fischer said this as well. Sources say that the Warriors have expressed reluctance to go that high in price, talking about 25 to 30 million annually on a long-term agreement while also seeking some level of firstround draft compensation in any theoretical trade that ships Kaminga elsewhere. Now, we do know that they did decline a deal from the Sacramento Kings that involved two second round picks coming to Golden State. The main piece of that deal was Devin Carter, who was a first round pick back in 2024. So, in a way, they were getting that, but they obviously declined the offer. They called it a buy low attempt by uh by uh Sacramento there. So, we’ll see if anything else materializes. The Warriors do have some interest in Keon Ellis, but Sacramento has not been able to uh make him available in trades to this point. Look, from the the entire league, the Kaminga market is basically non-existent. like there are no teams that can go out there and sign into an offer sheet outside of the Brooklyn Nets and we know that that has not been the case just yet. Uh it doesn’t look like it will be either. They got their own restricted free agency nonsense going on. And then everybody else around the league either has to send send out assets in order to take back Jonathan Kaminga or you know they’re not going to get him. And then the Warriors end like they’re not going to take some of these deals that teams are going to be throwing out there. It’s just running in circles and it doesn’t seem like there’s any end in sight. But let’s look at the landscape of who is interested or who could be interested in Jonathan the Kaminga. Now the the rumors for the better part of a year were that the Nets were kind of in on Kaminga that they were going to bring him in as they had two max slots open this off season in their cav space but the reports came out pretty early on this offseason that they never were going to offer a deal that there was never any rumblings of Brooklyn sending out an offer sheet for Jonathan Kaminga. So you can pretty much count them out at this point. Plus I don’t really love many of their trade assets. would have loved Cam Johnson, but we know how that all turned out. The Kings, on the other hand, they actually sent in the only reported offer that we’ve seen for Jonathan Kinga to this point. It was Devin Carter, former Warrior Dario Sarich along with two second round picks. And look, I you guys can hate me in the comments. I probably would would look back after I said I wouldn’t take it. I probably would take it at this point. I think Deon Carter is enough of a he showed me enough in summer league this this uh this past trip down that, you know, he’s going to be a serviceable enough NBA player. Not great size, but I just think Kaminga is such a bad fit and there’s just bad blood and awkwardness there that it would just be better to take another flyer on a young cat. The Heat are another team that we’ve heard has had interest in Jonathan Kaminga. Um, Warriors fans were very optimistic about a Andrew Wiggins swap back, but that was really never a possibility. Then they went out and traded for Norman Powell, and they really don’t have much wiggle room to make a deal at this point anymore. So, don’t look don’t look for the Heat to be the team that pursues Kaminga, uh, at least when it all gets said and done. if there is a sign and trade partner. The Bulls though potentially, we’ll talk about the Bulls more in depth in a little bit because Seagull did mention that the Warriors are holding out hope for a Bulls sign and trade. I think Kaminga might be holding out hope for that as well. They did acquire though Isaac Coro and Alonzo Ball trade. And speaking of Lonzo, that would have been a name that Golden State would have loved to come back and a deal for Kaminga. They also drafted Noah Sen, athletic raw wing that they’re going to have to develop over a couple of seasons. So like how much room is there in Chicago for Jonathan Kinga to really blossom at this point? Who knows? But I think they’re probably higher on the rankings list than maybe some of the three teams we talked about beforehand. Then the Phoenix Suns came into play late last week. Um, look, there hasn’t been any like cold water thrown on the Suns. Like there can’t be a deal made, but so I’m throwing it in like the maybe category right now, but the return is not great. Like you’re really looking at like a Nick Richards, Royce O’Neal type of package. And I don’t really think that that’s worth Jonathan Kaminga in a signing trade. I would much rather go get Devin Carter and see what you have upside-wise there than go out and make a trade for a Royce O’Neal like nine point per game score ceiling there. Overall, this is a really it’s a really sad story to be honest. Like because as much as you guys think I might hate Kaminga, I’m not wishing ill will on him. I’m not hoping that he’s a bad basketball player for the rest of his career. I just know that he’s not going to be a great basketball player on the Golden State Warriors playing alongside staff Draymond Jimmy. Uh you if you disagree, you disagree, but I I know that to be a fact at this point. But it’s unfortunate because Kamingo wants to get paid. He wants to be an all-star. Golden State wants to keep him and kind of like harbor that a a little bit. The chances of him ever becoming an all-star would be very low in Golden State. And the likeliest option at this point is that he does end up come back coming back to Golden State and it is a situation where it’s awkward and they’re looking for to to trade him down the line and and it just there’s an expiration date on him after as soon as he signs a contract. Like it’s not really a good position you want to be in. So now we try to like see if anything’s out there at this point. Like can they make a move? Can they figure out a sign trade for Jonathan Kaminga? Well, is I sumo the key to the to the puzzle here? Are are the Chicago Bulls the ideal trade partner? Look, I know that they are not a good well-run organization. So, there there’s an outside chance that we could get them to uh to be swindled into a Kaminga deal here. Is it going to be centered around Iodumo? Who knows? We’ll talk about that in just a moment. But the Bulls, they have their own issue. They have their own problem of their own, and that is their own restricted free agent, Josh Giddy, who wants the same, if not more money than Jonathan Kaminga in free agency. Well, and he does deserve that. He was pretty solid. He also was traded for Alex Caruso, which the Bulls cannot afford to let the guy that they traded Alex Caruso for walk in free agency as a restricted free free agent guy. So, we’ll see how this saga goes. Doesn’t seem like there’s been uh much progression, although there have been some uh you know, nice like solid talks like between the two sides of of Giddy and the Bulls. I read up on that last week. So, it looks like that’s going to be happening. He’s going to be going back there. But, can they get both Josh Giddy and Jonathan Kaminga under contract in Chicago? Jake Fischer reported this on the Bleacher Report uh little free agency uh podcast that he was on. He said Kaminga’s reps were trying to figure out some sign and trade scenarios that would have gotten both Jonathan Kaminga and Giddy paid in Chicago, both of them. So, this is where it all ties in together. Golden State’s holding out hope that a Bulls deal could happen. And Kaminga’s team is trying to orchestrate a Bulls move as well. So, it really seems to me that this is the team that is is likeliest has the best assets to go out there and make a Kaminga deal. And like I said, they are a badlyun organization. Their front office is a joke. They have been in purgatory forever. They have been one of the worst ownership groups in all of major sports forever. Like, if the Bulls have Michael Jordan, they might be disbanded as a franchise at this point. They might have moved them to somewhere to this point. So, I’m optimistic that they could get a deal done with a pretty, you know, mediocre at best front office. And the guys they have in tow like I think are pretty solid, man. Like, we did this with the Heat. We did this with the Suns. The Bulls by far have the best crop of players that would fit in these Kaminga side and trade scenarios. Like Jaylen Smith, I sumo. Boom. Right there. Busumo, why not? We can make something happen there. Haven’t heard it. Oh, you need sharpshooter? Sure, we’ll do that, too. It makes a little bit too much money for my liking to be honest. But Kobe White, you want that? If you want to do that one for one swap that I’ve been talking about the whole time, then yeah, you could do that as well. I’ll say this about Kobe White, though. They’re the Bulls are actively trying to move him. And if the if the Warriors wanted Kobe White, they would have traded for him already. Like the deal would already be done in my opinion. Like Chicago’s clearly said that they’re open to, if not trying to find a trade partner for Kobe White. So if Golden State wanted to get that done, it probably would have already been done at this point. So the Warriors could have got the rest of their offseason on and rolling. So now we shift gears to maybe a guy like Iodumo, younger, probably a better athlete overall and a guy who I think provides a lot more on the defensive end as well. Can guards ones, twos, and threes. Pretty versatile there. Long uh 63 64 player. Um and he doesn’t get really he just does not get bullied out there and has really taken steps offensively over the last two seasons or so. Yeah, he’s still a bit inconsistent with his three-point shot, but this is a guy who probably doesn’t get a lot of great looks playing in the Chicago Bulls offense. like it’s probably a lot of bad shots going up. If he plays within a system like like it would be in Golden State, I think he could really really flourish. Now, we’re looking at two trade ideas here that I found on the interwebs from the great people over at Fano. Great. You guys do some great stuff over there, you hoop heads. But this one sends in Nicole Vousvich, Iodumo, and a top five protected first round pick for Kaminga and Ge Santos. Like, I’d be all over this trade. I think the Warriors interest in Vousvich is a little bit overstated to this point. They didn’t make a deal for him at the deadline. There hasn’t been much rumblings about him this summer. So, we’ll see if they would want to do something like this. I would be so down to to make this deal as you see on screen right now. But, I would also be down for this 14 mega deal that sends Io Dumo, Nick Richards, where he’s getting a little bit younger, more athletic, don’t have to feel pressure to start a guy like Nicole Vousvich who’s so bad defensively and play him big minutes, too. So, you get like a nice younger athletic center. You can kind of play as like your third guy or like your second guy if you need more defense off of the bench in favor of Quinton Post. And then you’re only giving up, I believe, just Geese Santos and Jonath Kamingo once again. So like it’s really not a bad um loss at all in my opinion. So with that being said, out of these two trades you’ve seen so far, this one that sends Vousvich IO and that first I I I doubt the Bulls would ever ever do this trade, but it works on Fans, so I wouldn’t hate it. If you like that one, pick one. If you like this one, the 14 mega deal, type two down in the comments section. I’m trying to hear what Dub Nation has to say about these prospective Kaminga signed trades to Chicago cuz I’m really really holding that hope that that’s a deal that ends up getting done. We’ll talk more in just a moment, but I got to tell you guys about this awesome deal that we have with our friends over at Fanatics. The Warriors, they didn’t win the title, but it was a fun playoff run nonetheless. And you can get the playoff commemorative t-shirt win for the Bay for the Lolo at this link right here. It’s like literally over 50% off. I love commemorative playoff t-shirts. That’s just me. I think the Warriors had a really solid season as well once they traded for Jimmy. help. Go get yourself a commemorative 2025 playoff shirt today. This link below, chatports.com/win4 bay. I put it in the comment section and description of today’s video as well. Get yourself a Warriors playoff te right now. All right, let’s talk about it, man. Because the Warriors are in a weird spot with Kaminga and and the whole situation like it’s really holding up their entire off seasonason. Like they haven’t been able to make a single move. the only team in the NBA yet to do so at this point and and their competitors, their their their contenders around the Western Conference are only loading up even more. Sean Shirania tweeted this out over the weekend. Marcus Smart bought out by the Wizards, scooped up by the Lakers. Luca Donic went out and recruited him. So, another team that finished above the Warriors in the standings and let’s be honest, like seed two through seed 8 was like a three-game difference this year. Like the West was super tight. But again, a team that finished above the Warriors in the standings by four seeds just got better. Also, they got a center that probably the Warriors could have used, DeAndre Aiden. Now, those guys were never coming to Golden State, but still teams around the Dubs are getting better. Everybody continues to improve. Everybody is has gotten better in the West. Rockets got better. OKC, they won the title. Who who cares? They they probably got better just with age. Uh San Antonio got better. Um Minnesota got better. Like Dallas got better. Like, there’s so many teams that got better in the Western Conference. The Warriors are sitting on their hands still at this point. Uh but to reassure you guys a little bit, Seagull did follow it up with this before we get out of here on today’s show. Al Horford and DeAnthony Belton are widely expected to sign with the Warriors. A handful of NBA of teams at summer league said that Horford and Melon have verbal agreements already in place with Golden State and now Jonathan situation is what’s holding that all up. So those are the two names going to be coming on the back end of Golden State’s rotation here and I’m excited for them both to join the squad. But I I do think the Warriors probably need another one or two um free agent additions, whether it be on the vet man or they could figure something out in the by annual exception or something along those lines to get more reinforcements on the back end of that bench. What do you guys think? Name a player that the Warriors should sign. Name one down in the comment section. But you cannot say Al Horford. You cannot say Danthony Melton. Name a player the Warriors should sign that’s still available in free agency down in the comment section. Make sure you are subscribed to the channel. Name a player you want the Warriors to sign! CAN’T SAY HORFORD OR MELTON!
Au is a fine rotational player, but he’s not what the Warriors need. Not a good trade. Keep JK and put up with his nonsense until the deadline
You have been making 10-20 kaminga update videos but nothing is really updated with his status LOL. Clickbait at its finest
What about Moody and Kuminga (& a draft pick ?) for Giddey ?
JK should fire his agent..JK and his representatives didn't read the free agent market correctly.. The days of going over the cap are OVER…😒😒😒😒
Bulls don't want your trash.b4 steph and mark Jax nobody heard of u. Steph the only reason the dubs not in Vegas. GET out the play in with a legend b4 you speak on front offices
They offered him 150,000,000 for 4 years at the beginning of last season and he said no

We don't want kuminga but we want a first round pick for him😂.
Dallas did not get get better, not for this coming year with Kyrie out. And I’m not so sure Minnesota got better either. Health permitted, the Warriors have a good chance to make the playoffs and the second round. I BELIEVE!!

Sign Melton sign Seth and Horford and I think we're good
JK has no trade value given the fact he is a restricted FA and teams have pretty much spent most of their cap room . Other teams know that next year JK will be unrestricted FA and he’ s still only 22 so they can afford to wait him out without having to give up any compensation for next year .
I’m sick of Kuminga doesn’t deserve even 20 mil. Needs some humble pie 🥧
