Miami Heat Won’t Trade Andrew Wiggins Before The Season, According to Report
Hey, welcome on in guys. Tobin here with you and thanks for checking out the channel. Hope you have a lovely Sunday out here as uh the Miami Heat. They’ll be back in action tonight. We’ll recap that game as uh they’re in summer league action. I think the big thing everybody’s looking for what is KL Wear going to play like assuming he plays. It’s a chance he doesn’t. The Heat have a backto-back. So maybe he doesn’t play until tomorrow on Monday night. But uh it was funny on my Saturday I’m like what are we going to talk about today? We got a couple fun topics we’re going to talk about. We’ll talk about uh we’ll talk about LeBron possibility back to the Heat. The story kind of gets a little cold water thrown on that. And I did a Kell Wear video. It literally as I’m about to post it, Eric Spolro by his standards had a pretty explosive press conference. I will say Spo yesterday touched a lot of bases. Shout out to all the media that’s out there uh in Sin City this weekend. Uh that was about as honest and off the cuff as you hear Spo. And I will say Spo is a lot more like that in practice settings than he is postgame. Postgame it’s usually very very calculated. He’s controlling it. But he kind of let it rip yesterday. He let it rip. The Kell Wear stuff by his standards explosive. You know, was honest about a lot of things. Talked about Andrew Wiggins, talked about Duncan Robinson, talked about kind of talked about Kevin Love, uh talked about the Norman Pal trade. So I want to touch on a bevy of topics that he got into. Um, Nicola Yovic had some very interesting things on Yovic, dude. Haime Hakez. So, Spo was letting it rip yesterday. He was he was absolutely letting it rip from uh from the jump on that LeBron topic. Kind of got a little cold water thrown on it. And it was uh the Miami Herald yesterday reporting that after Eric Spoler’s press conference and I was in the middle of watching Superman as this was all going on. I was like I was getting notifications left and right and this was uh you know the they came out and reported that the Miami Heat it says uh there’s been plenty of speculation surrounding forward Andrew Wigan’s future with the Heat. Didn’t help that the Heat included him in its offer for Kevin Durant. But with Durant traded to Houston uh earlier this offseason, there’s now some clarity on the situation. As a league source confirmed the Miami to the Miami Herald, the Heat’s plan is to keep Wiggins on its roster next season, barring something unforeseen. The Heat is intrigued to see what this mix of players can accomplish in uh accomplish after a recent addition of the veteran guard Norman Powell. So, yeah, very interesting stuff there with the Heat and uh and Andrew Wiggins and what they’re going to get from this situation, but the Miami Heat are in a situation where they are going to uh seemingly keep Andrew Wiggins on the roster. There’s been a lot of fodder surrounding him and there’s been a lot of uh there’s been a lot of speculation with the Lakers. as will the Lakers. We talked yesterday in my fun little LeBron scenario, which also got a little bit of a uh an update. Um because it’s uh it’s it’s it’s one of those things where on the LA Lakers summer league broadcast, Dave McMenan said that four teams reached out to Rich Paul about the possibility of trading for LeBron James, but he hasn’t requested a trade. There’s no buyout. So, we’ll see. It it it doesn’t seem like we’re at a critical mass with that. And I guess if LeBron were to be interested in training the Heat, that would be something unforeseen, but I do think this was my point yesterday. The Heat are going to know if that’s a possibility. And you could just do by processing, they’re not trading Tyler Hero for LeBron James. So, let’s uh we we can we can deduce who the players would be. But I do think the Heat do this where they like players being comfortable, especially players who might be uncomfortable and they know that it was hard for Andrew Wiggins. And Eric Boler was making this point on Wiggins yesterday. Excuse me, that they uh that he has gotten to South Florida. He’s brought his family. Um it says Wiggins had some really good moments with us before he got hurt. He was exactly what we needed and wanted out of that position. I think he has a real opportunity to have some growth with him as he gets comfortable. He’s already down in Miami right now and he will be bringing his family in. He’s going to be here most of August and September and I think he will get more acclimated and I think that’s really important for him. Certainly the one thing with Andrew did not feel like he was comfortable here last year and obviously was dropped in a bit of an awkward situation. Just had a kid at the time. So Wiggins having his family there, big family guy, you know, hopefully would make him more comfortable. Um, and then uh Barry Jackson also pointed out it said uh per source nothing presented to the Heat and Wiggins has been enticed in the plan is to keep him barring something I’ve ever seen. Quote, “We got Wiggins to get Wiggins not to trade him. He’s a good player and he’s been a big part of winning teams.” He is a good player. He has been part of a championship team. Um, they did though, as Barry mentions in the article or Anthony mentions in the article, uh, that they did offer him in a trade. So, they uh, but that was their swing. They were swinging for Kevin Durant. And so, you know, uh, I don’t think there’s going to be any ill feelings. I mean, he did just get, you know, especially from the Heat. I think he would have uh, you know, he would have gotten that. It’s not like the Warriors where he won a championship with it. So, we’ll see what this uh this ends up being with bringing in and keeping Andrew Wiggins around. Um but yeah, barring a Lakers trade where the Heat are given an offer that knocks their socks off, which I don’t think this gets reported unless they feel like it’s heading that direction. Let’s be real about it. Unless negotiations, you know, are hard and they’re trying to throw this out there. But like from my standpoint, I don’t think Spo goes whole family route coldhearted. Um, with that being a big possibility, I think, uh, you know, look, we’ve seen organizations lie before. Pat Riley’s done it before. Um, so if they do feel like that enticing move comes, but I do think this is probably a reflection that the trade offer or or talks with the Lakers haven’t been absolutely fantastic. uh barring something unforeseen. Besides, we got to get on to to bigger things with the Lakers. Anyway, you’re gonna see that Bam Adobay was in Greece, right? Well, I didn’t understand why he was in Greece, but it kind of dropped today. Uh there was a basketball player from the Philippines who I guess is a Jordan brand guy, and Michael Jordan had all of his athletes out to Athens for a party. Um and so Luca and Bam were at the same party. I know I do this all the time with Bam and connections, but you know, very charming at a party and maybe he’s like, you know, he goes, Miami, you know, we don’t know Luca loves Miami, so maybe the Heat captain can once again try and work his magic and maybe Luca doesn’t sign that extension and, you know, this is all a ruse on where the Lakers are at and maybe he’s like, this LeBron’s getting kind of a baby bam. him. He goes, “Oh, is he? You know, you should probably get away from him.” He goes, “I should.” He goes, “Yeah, you should, dude. You You do you, Luca. You got traded in the middle of in in the middle of the night, dude. Like, that’s crazy.” So, we’ll see what was said over some shrimp cocktail and great sneakers. But, uh, I did find that interesting. I was like, “Oh, that’s why he’s in Greece.” And a lot of guys are in Greece. I thought maybe he was there to see Giannis, but uh, Skinny Luca, and he does look skinny, is out there as well. Oh, I think Goi was out there too in Greece. I don’t know if he’s a Jordan athlete or he’s just vacationing, but maybe, you know, a little uh a little heat trio there. A couple Slovenians uh bringing in BAM as an honorary Slovenian. He said that one time, you know, where he was trying, he was mad at Goi for not giving him the dragon hat and Jimmy Butler got the hat and he goes, “You’re not Slovenian.” And he goes, “Ababay. I I I could be I could be Slovenian.” He did finally get his Gore on Dragage hat. We we did follow up on that case. But either way, um the Andrew Wiggins thing, I don’t think Spo gets so uh sentimental about it with the family stuff. I don’t think he says that if they truly are in a position where they’re going to trade Andrew Wiggins. And I do agree and I I talked about this with the boys at uh at Five Reasons on Five of the Floor with Brady and Ethan the other day where it’s like it makes more sense to have him when you add more scoring punch where he can fill in the margins. I know I was very tough on Andrew Wiggins. Um but it was also just a bad season and it felt very much like he just he didn’t like it here. I think he was put in an uncomfortable circumstance. He’s wearing Jimmy Butler’s number. It just didn’t put a good taste, I think, in anybody’s mouth how that went last year. So, now fresh start. That’s where the Heat are at. Um, you know, we’ll see. And Spo, I want to get, you know, I’m going to do this in another video talking about, you know, Spo did talk about his autopsy of the season. Um, because there were some things that he said that made sense. There were some other stuff that like really didn’t. So, we’ll uh we’ll do with that what we will. Um, and I’m also gonna do one on uh he had some some interesting stuff on Nico and some stuff on Himeme. So, we’ll dive into all of it. The other thing that was uh you know, speaking of feelings and guys, he talked about he was asked about Kevin Love, I think, by Tim Reynolds and then he uh he kind of like said, “Yeah, it’s a business.” And it was interesting that like he didn’t seem that busted up about losing Kevin Love, which I was a little surprised about. Um, I’m maybe I’m just being over, but he like immediately went off of Kevin Love to this salilo this beautiful saliloquy about Duncan Robinson and just how emotional his phone call was with Duncan Robinson and um and that Duncan, you know, his story should be a book and he never took no for an answer. And I was like, damn, dude. SP like is out here cutting onions in this press conference. This is getting very emotional. Um, but then like he talked about the Kevin Love thing and he goes, “Yeah, you know, it’s a business and then he talked about, you know, our leadership was really moving towards BAM anyway.” And then said like, and it can’t even just be BAM, like with a captain, like in today’s NBA, everybody has to be pulling on the rope and and being in in a leadership position. I was like, damn, he kind of uh he was uh he was he was throwing some cold water. I saw that uh the road tripping guys who obviously they love Kevin Love. Those those those Cavs teams where he he was like the best teammate. Uh they all love him and Kevin had a I mean to be fair like you know obviously was dealing with a heartache situation last year. Um but they had mentioned something to the effect of they thought that he was going to be the new Udonis Hasslam. And look, Kevin Love in my eyes opened up a lot of appreciation for how he is as a teammate. That’s a little bit of a silly thing for them to say, like nobody’s Udonis Hasslam. I don’t even think Kevin Love would like to be described as the next Udonis Hasslam. Um, and I don’t think that he got him to be the next Judonis Hasslam. You know, I think that eventually what, you know, they brought him in like there were still elements to his game where he could be effective. Um, and that just feels like, you know, kind of aged out. So, and that’s okay. Like, the Heat were in a window where they bet on guys like PJ Tucker and Kyle Lowry and Kevin Love who probably only had that like one last run in them. That’s basically how it’s gone since the rest of their careers. But, um I was like that was kind of noticeable. I was like, man, he kind of uh he was he was not it was a little bit interesting to see in that position. I was like, oh, [Music] I don’t know. I don’t know what to make of it or not, but I definitely noticed it. I was like, “Oh, man.” He he gave this unbelievably beautiful answer on Duncan Robinson uh when he wasn’t asked about Duncan Robinson. And then he ends up talking about the the Wiggins dynamic of all of it. And so long answer like he did touch on a lot of topics, least of which when he was asked about Kevin Love was Kevin Love. So I just thought that to be an interesting thing. You guys could go check out the press conference. It’s on the Heat’s uh YouTube page. But, uh, interesting thing. But the Heat Keeping Andrew Wiggins certainly feels like no, uh, fantasy LeBron trade is coming. It doesn’t even feel like a Lakers gem of a trade is coming. But here’s the thing, like the Heat do have to recognize like where they’re at with Andrew Wiggins, who doesn’t have like an awful contract by any means. Uh it’s a little bit longer of a commitment with the years that it goes into, but um you know, if the Heat do not have an impressive season, there probably will be a scenario where at the very least the Heat could trade him for somebody who clears their books. I would imagine that that’s a that that’s a possibility, which is why I don’t think the Heat were ever in a position where they needed to move him with uh with great desperation. Right. It it it maybe if you were going full youth movement which they don’t appear to be uh especially with what you heard about Kell and suppose the one thing that was interesting is uh yeah spo made it clear he’s not going to bend his principles just to do full youth move. He’s been around too long and he does feel about uh in a way competing. He talked about uh you know the idea of the east being wide open being a losers mentality. which uh you could take a bunch of ways, but the Wiggins thing of it is the Heat, it’s not a pressure situation, right? Like they’ve had Andrew Wiggins here. They’ll feel like they’ll have a more comfortable Andrew Wiggins. They won’t lean on him as much to be an offensive spark and I think that’ll put him in a better place and maybe will make him even better defensively. Hopefully there’s more health. He’s typically been a very, very durable player. It just happened to be when he got here, he dealt with a lot of injuries, too, which didn’t help matters. Um, so, and then let’s say the Heat are put in a place where they’re kind of meandering around this season and some contender does come a call. And if that does happen, I don’t think it’s going to be hard to find a taker for him. Um, because it’s not like he makes 40 million, 50 million a year or anything like that. It’s a very tolerable contract. It’s not very long. Um, so that he’d have to be uh they have to be right with that position. But, um, when they put when this stuff gets out to to, you know, guys like Anthony and Barry, like there is a there is a method to it. There is there’s a purpose to it. Like I we saw this remember with the James Harden thing, like the Heat really wanted to just be like, we don’t want the speculation cuz that was kind of the last piece. The last guy who was really dealing with speculation going into this season was Andrew Wiggins. And I think particularly with him, you know, bringing his family, making him more comfortable, they want to put that at ease. So that’s why that I think gets out there.
Tobin talks Erik Spoelstra’s comments on Andrew Wiggins and the report that Wiggins won’t be traded by Miami….wait Bam Adebayo and Luka Dončić hobnobbing in Greece!?!? Rich Paul has multiple teams reach out about a LeBron James trade

This is why as heat fans we are stuck. I thought it was the youth movement? Now we are keeping Wiggins? We need to pick a lane and stick with it. They are holding on to Wiggins cause they can’t get somebody to overpay. Bro just let it go cut the losses and be over with Wiggins don’t even wanna be here.
good move. no rush. let's see a settled, healthy and comfy wiggs. more importantly let's wait for an offer for him we can't refuse. but im hopeful wiggs will be much better this year
Run it back 5.0 🎉🎉🎉
(Sigh) the heat just will never learn they are deeming another guy unmovable that can’t even handle the ball and get his own bucket at the wing spot 🤦🏾♂️
But guys the 2031 pick 😂 we all might not even be here by then..
We’ll get more for him at the deadline
💔💔💔
How was it explosive Spo just said they need to step up and be Pro’s
If Wiggins decides to play ball he fits well with this roaster if they can somehow add a solid 4 or 5 now
Miami is not a title contender, but it is a competitive team as it stands. Let them play together, and if it doesn't work, it will have good pieces and a lot of expiring costands.
It is make it or break it for Ware, JJJ, and Niko
Why are you doing this with Luca? Where's Leroy to slap you?!
Ain't no way Terryble Rozier still on this team 😢
Uggh, just when it looks like they can be a competent front office………. Wiggs better produce is all im saying
Wiggins staying is cool, might be a disgruntled star at the trade deadline pat old ass can package something. Wishful thinking.
Retire Pat.
Let's go heat.
I prefer Rui, Knecht, and a conditional first round pick.
What magic has Bam used before?
Herro is the wild card. If he can turn into a legit playmaker and can average 8-10 assists, this squad this year can go far
Wiggins & Bam are the perfect glue guys. If Wiggins can play 65 games he’d be great to keep. He just needs to stay on the court
That was rough that Spo said Bam can’t be the captain that UD was. And unprompted said Herro has to also be the leader. It’s funny that when ever media asks about leadership and Bam everyone within the organization says “Herro is their leader too”. Herro haters must hate that.
Wigs was never the problem! He played well they just wanted too much out of him .
So our offseason is over unless we flip rozier for something 😭
Glad to hear that Wiggins will not be traded. I always stated allow him to clear his mental state, get healthy & be ready for training camp.
He's only 30yrs old and 1 of the best 2-Way players in the NBA today. JJJ & Scary Terry will surprise alot of people this up & coming season. Let's Go Heat.
Ok. Nobody cares really. We’re a 3-5 seed this year with him here. If we want to get better then he’s used in a trade to upgrade. This report doesn’t say much. Short of “We’re not willing to just trade him”. Wake me when we get LeBron or get a pick and players for Wiggins.
I’m cool with that, let’s see how things shake out once the season gets going
Wiggins doesnt really fit this roster. Why not trade him for some picks, young talent, or expiring contracts.
Wiggins' availability last season was uncharacteristic of him. I believe he can improve on that easily, I'm hoping.
I like this….
definitely give WIGGINS a chance to find his role..
Luka too fat
So let me get this straight ,the same player that was getting locked up by Sam Merrill, who couldn’t get by anyone so all he did Was chuck up threes and who was such a pu*** that he didn’t show up to end of season post conference. THATS WHO THEY WANT TO KEEP
Nobody gives a damn if he was uncomfortable, he sucked in the playoffs and we got killed by 55 POINTS
A very perfect decision from the part of Pat Riley and the front office great now we have a strong core
What a shame
Just out of curiosity, has Bam recruited ANYONE to the Heat?
I keep hearing that he’s this sensational recruiter, but l don’t know that he has actually gotten anyone to come here, which of course would make him a terrible recruiter.
So who’s he gotten to Miami, besides Dame asking out to be on a team that was just in the finals?
Norm and a full training camp Wiggs should help Tyler/Bam a ton
Luka to the heat is very possible in a year or two
Day 5 of asking you to join my fantasy football league
Everything they told us was wrong so far, hoping this is too
Shows how jimmy disruption was and huge distraction last year in the locker room.
Who else is going to play defense if they trade Wiggins? Kevin Love needed to go and not turn into UD taking up a roster spot.
He is still a champion warrior
Couldn't move this donk. Heat got fleeced on that butler trade and the league & fans were laughing at the clown move. Nobody really wants wiggins.
Sad and true.
