The NBA Is Not Ready for What Victor Wembanyama’s About To Do…

So, Victor Wimbeyama is back. He’s been clear and he’s healthy. And as we’ve seen this all season, he’s definitely locked in. And this here makes things scarier than they ever were. Bill Land in the building. We all know that Wimby drives ratings, so the NBA got exactly what they wanted with him being healthy. But for every other team in the league, well, they should be afraid. Sure, he had a setback with the blood clot causing him to miss some time, but this didn’t weaken him. It shifted his focus into another gear. Wimby was already having an amazing season last year as we would see plays like this where Wimi is just fine with using his handle to break down another sevenfooter. And once getting downhill while being met with some contact, Wimy’s able to bring it across his face, get the shot up over the contest and bank this in at such a weird angle. Banks it in. What a start by Victor Webyama. by mixing it up. And look, and if that wasn’t good enough, well, he can break the rules of what a 73 guy should be able to do by knocking down his three-pointer with Giannis right in his grip. Up and he baked it in. Kuml, those moments are what we look forward to seeing when we watch when we play. But if he isn’t wowing us with his offense, well, it’s his ability to stop one drive to then block the next and just watch what happens. Got him right there. And then he just cuffed it. Hey, how many times have we seen this from Victor? Blows up one and then blows up another. Yeah, his defensive instincts are a special part of his game that makes him one of the best players on the floor at any given moment. And let’s be honest, when the news broke about Wim being shut down in February, everyone truly fell for him. A blood clot diagnosis is one of the scariest medical things that can happen to someone. And remember, this same exact thing happened to Chris Bosch. So yeah, this is a condition that doesn’t just ruin careers, it can potentially end them. So just like that, everything had to pause. We didn’t hear much from Wimi as he decided to instead move in silence and share slight glimpses of what he’s been up to during his recovery. And now with the blood clock completely gone and his medical cleared, Wimby is gearing up to be a force that will almost be impossible to stop. Kind of negates his Wimby flying through the air. Castle years ago. No way. We go back to the He’s gone at this first defense, but We Wyama was right there. Four blocks for Webby. Now, I get it. With some time passing by, it’s quite easy to forget just how absurd Victor Wyama really was. When looking at his rookie year, his averages were solid as he shook the lead with some amazing plays on both sides of the ball. Victor. No, I could have told you that. And when we fast forward to the current date and we look at what Wimby did in his 46 games play before he was shut down, Wimby was on pace to probably be a defensive player of the year. And offensively, we were seeing his game expand to levels we hadn’t seen before. At the point of the shutdown, Wimby was averaging 24 points per game, 11 rebounds, and nearly four blocks per game. And while his offensive game was steadily improving, he was also making that leap on defense as well. Not many times do we see a player that 73 be effective on both sides of the ball, making it look easy. And trust me, he wasn’t just blocking shots. He was completely breaking plays. Guys would assume that they have him beat to the rim after blowing by, but there’s one thing you can’t forget about, and that’s the length that Wimby possesses. Other times, you’ll see offensive players trying to lead the contest by being physical when making their move around the basket. But Wimi, he’s just too good for that. And on the flip side, he wasn’t just scoring. He was changing the way we see guys his size operate on the floor. Like, you tell me, how often in the league do we see a guy his size use a smooth crossover into a step back for straight cash. And not only is it that we see Wimby exercise ability to shoot from deep, as he showcas his ability to navigate to the basket by attacking towards the middle of the paint. And when met by the help defender, Wimby spins back towards the basket, stops on a dime to step through. And boy was this just incredible. Now take all of that and pair with him having the squad the Spurs put together. Yeah, boy. That’s when you realize that a ceiling for Wimi might not exist. Like most of us already know, Wimi was the game changer for this team. And when he went down, the Spurs didn’t go all into panic mode. Instead, they constructed something serious. Not only did they keep their core pieces that complemented Wimby well, but they managed to add in Dear and Fox to the squad who will be a major piece in running next to Wimi. When you look at Fox, he can get downhill whenever he wants. So, pair that next to Wim in that pick and roll and the action is unlimited. Fox immediately ups the pace of his team with his ability to blaze past defenders with his speed. He has playoff experience and he adds another closing option so Wimby doesn’t have to feel all the pressure. But hold on, hold on one second. It doesn’t just stop there. Stfan Castle is another guard who gives his team a spark with his versatility when it comes to his defending, pacing, and scoring. Oh, and we can’t forget he just won rookie of the year. So, right there, even if you’ve never watched Castle, you can see that he has tremendous value to this team. And if that’s not enough, well, they just added in a defensive pest in Carter Bryant doesn’t miss a beat with the switch on the miss and pressures him and got the block and finishes it with his head on the rim. Brian will bring floor space into the Spurs, which allows Wimi, Fox, Castle, and others to navigate with more room. And then defensively, it’s going to be a battle when it comes to getting past him. And if you do, well, now you have a meeting with Wimi. With Carter going to be used as more of a 3 and D guy, the Spurs went ahead and added in a high IQ point guard and Dylan Harper. And this here just proves that the Spurs are looking to build a solid entire roster, not just sign huge names in the market. For Wimi, this opens up his game massively. No longer does he have to be Superman for the Spurs every night. And that means he can be more dangerous than ever because now he picks his spots rather than getting forced into bad ones. When you look at history, there’s a pattern with the greats. Year 1 is usually an adjustment. Year two is more about development. In year three, that’s where the leap happens. Wimby himself is entering that phase right now. And when you make it a priority to get guys around him that blend and make his life easier, it’s only a matter of time before things explode. And when I say explode, I mean as far as skill progression. When watching Wim in the limited games this past season, there were many things that immediately stood out. For one, he was starting to explore his options in the mid-range more frequently. Whether it was a fade over the top of the defender or just a really tough shot, double clutching, make that off the glass when first shot attempt. He was figuring out how to read the defense in a quicker manner to then set up his guys for open looks under dunks it home. And when it came down to it, it didn’t matter if he was 30 ft away. Wimby was going to let it fly. Pulls up from way down and puts it through. I know it may not seem like it, but Wimby isn’t chasing highlights. He’s chasing impact. And that’s what this season is going to be about. Presence, efficiency, and control. Because when you strip away all the noise, what’s left is a player who’s already doing things we’ve never seen. The numbers are already insane. The frame is historic. The game is generational. But the story of whenyama was never going to just be about the stats and the numbers and all of that blah blah blah. It’s about how far he can carry a team and how much he can elevate everyone around him. Oh, and most of all, it’s how he handles the spotlight because that’s certainly getting larger. So hopefully this season isn’t just a comeback because that’s just too soft. This season needs to be a warning. Chad Hongren just won a ring so Wimpy got to hear about that. The Western Conference is loaded so he has to answer to that. and the critics, well, they’re always lurking and will be ready to hop on his downfall whenever it happens. Ladies and gentlemen, the Victor Winyama era is approaching and it’s going to be scary very soon. 1. It was NOT the same as Bosh. Bosh had clots in his lungs. That’s not only career threatening, it’s life threatening.

  2. People also forget that the Spurs have Sochan. Sochan + Bryant = probably the best wing defender room in the league. And the Spurs also have Luke Kornet now. So no matter what rotation is in, you get that great Wing stopper + Menace in the paint, whether it’s Sochan + Wemby or Bryant + Kornet. This team is going to be a struggle to get consistent points.

  3. I'm ready for the season opener. GoSpursGo. Im rooting for a banger of a season. Got love for all basketball fans teams. I hope your team has an amazing season as well. Basketball lovers are in for a treat.

  4. Good to see them returning to their DEFENSIVE ROOTS led by DPOY Wemby. And if CIA Pop's puppet coach, G-League Mitch Johnson, stays out of the way, then Wemby will be so good that if he and Sochan-Barnes-Castle-Fox stay healthy, and key bench (Kornet-Olynyk-Harper-Bryant-Champagnie) players stay healthy, then the Spurs are a 5th seed.

  5. Wemby should have won DPOY as a rookie. Players know he was DPOY and not Gobert.
Fans forgot about him after the DVT all game diagnosis last February. When he was shut down the Spurs did not panic…they just tanked and ended up with a Harper-Bryant duo that will get 20mpg as rookies. If Year 3 Wemby stays healthy it will be phenomenal.

  6. Great video. I watched a lot of these videos about the Spurs and your video Quality really jumps out as does your editing.
