What grade would I give the Lakers based on their offseason moves?
Well, I think we’re conflating two distinct questions that deserve separate evaluations:
How does the Lakers’ current roster stack up in terms of championship potential?
How well has Rob Pelinka performed in constructing that roster?
First, the roster. If we’re judging OKC and Houston as the cream of the Western crop, then I’d slot the Lakers into that second tier. With that in mind, I’d give the current roster a solid B — a good team, but not yet elite.
Now, Rob Pelinka’s work. Considering the improvements he’s made without surrendering significant trade assets, I think Rob deserves a solid A. He made the team better while keeping the war chest largely intact.
and lets there best defender in DFS walk.. They got a viable centre 100% required but he also got bought out cause he aint that good.. Next you got Smart who is injured a lot and has not been a championship player.. and Then Lavaria is what a 9th /10th guy come on.. Meanwhile everyone else that is trying to win did more.. The LAKERS have an issue that Austin and Rui are not playoff players.. Unless they can make this determination they go nowhere.
Luka must learn to play off ball, that way, lakers offense even while having less talent then the West Contenders, more player and ball movement, will make lakers deadly, especially when you got players that are trying to prove something and are growing their game, right trevor?
The Blazers trading Simons was one of the dumbest moves I've seen in a while. He's going to be good for a long time. Holiday's numbers keep declining, the Lakers don't need that contract.

People act like the NBA has a lot of 3 and D wings. Realistically they are like Unicorns. Seriously who could they actually have gotten. Lebron has destroyed the flexibility from prior years.
DK seems like soft a** player he need to get over that trade this is the nba it happens. I believe he is still in his feelings about that trade. IMO he played bad in those summer league games to decrease his value looks like it worked. Now he is considered negative value around the league. He is no longer considered 1st round value. He need to shape up or ship out it's that simple.
Clippers got older, we got younger😂. Denver looks great, if last season we were one of the best teams after they trade, well we got better and younger. That’s an A in my book
If the Lakers trade for Jrue Holiday, I’m assuming it would involve Gabe, Maxi, and Vando. Maybe a pick. That is a good trade for both teams. I don’t think Blazers want to keep two aging guards (Lillard and Jrue) in the way of Scoot’s, Camara’s, and Sharpe’s development. Vando and Gabe are good fits for Billups’ defensive schemes. Kleber gives them a stretch big option. And there are reports Holiday doesn’t like being on Blazers. This will allow Lakers to trade Gabe’s and Kleber’s expiring contracts. I like Vando’s defense and what he brings to Lakers’ rotation, but he is injury prone and limited offensively. I think the trade can happen without Rui being in it. I don’t think Jrue has strong trade value due to his age and long term contract. I cannot see many teams looking to or being able to trade for him. Maybe a Bucks reunion with Giannis (trading Kuzma for Holiday) happens or Pacers still decide to remain competitive and have Jrue as their replacement for Tyrese this season. I also wouldn’t be surprised if a team like Pistons or Heat trade for Jrue. If the Lakers were able to get this trade done, maybe they could resign Goodwin and GP2 since they would be sending out 3 players and only getting one player in return. Jrue cannot be aggregated in a trade from Blazers.
Now we have smart, and gabe that basically play that same role. If it were a buyout for some stupid reason… Heck yeah. Trading for him? Portland better send us draft picks back. This isn't happening. I don't even see holiday being traded this season. His contract kills his value.
Also on a trey young trade.. he makes 46 million. So it's more like AR+Rui+Gabe and maxi. We would need to send out way more $ than 46 as we would also open several roster spots that have to be filled and are hard capped.
