Deuce McBride Talks Mike Brown, Jalen Brunson, & Knicks Redemption Season

Deuce McBride Talks Mike Brown, Jalen Brunson, & Knicks Redemption Season

What’s the biggest difference between the playoffs and the regular season physically, mentally that, you know, the average fan might not see? What’s the biggest difference? I mean, everything. The best athletes in the world locking in at a whole another level. What’s your goals for for next season? Like, do you you set goals for yourself? Like, is is there, you know, things that you want to work on to to take it to the next level? Yeah, I mean, as a basketball player, I want to work on my whole game, you know? I want to be a complete player. Who’s one of the toughest players you had to guard coming into this league, man? [Music] New thing, [Applause] man. What’s that reception like, man? Is it ghetto? Oh, man. It’s It’s special, honestly. All the love is is special, man. This This This reminds me of when the Knicks fans was whing out during the playoffs outside of MSG, man. Yo, they brought it every night. They win, man. Y’all brought it. We appreciate y’all. You know, you you come from the Midwest. You you hail from Cincinnati. You went to West Virginia. What’s the craziest thing you seen in New York when you when you got there, man? Man, man, the passion, the energy, man, the rats. I mean, from day one. Somebody said the rats. Different. They like dogs. The rats are like dogs out here. It was a lot to get used to, right? Yeah. Wow. Yeah. What? 100% man. Well, listen, man. We We in the summer. We couple couple months removed from a a tough exit from from the playoffs, man. What What was that reflection like for you, man? Game six against the Pacers, that that fight home. What did that feel like, man? Man, it’s uh disappointing. Um you know, anytime you end a season not with a championship is a is a disappointment. It hurts. Um I thought we had the squad to do it and we just didn’t get it done. But it was tough. It was a tough flight home for sure. Did you feel like, you know, coming into that series, especially because you lost to the Paces the the year before that, did you feel like, man, like we we should have gotten these guys again? Yeah, I mean, we definitely thought it was our get back. Um, but, you know, they shout out to them, credit to them. They uh they really brought it. Um, they executed their game plan really well and uh they were just more detail oriented than we were. Was it was it hard to get through games one and two because I mean especially the way game one ended with the whole Hallebert and Theatrics and overtime loss and then game two like you know couldn’t really bounce back. Do you feel like it that was a hard two losses to overcome in this series? Yeah, I mean game one kept me up. Game one still keeps me up. I mean us. Yeah, 100%. 100%. No, it it was uh you know that momentum um and then we go we go get game three, but you know that that momentum shift was just tough, you know. I mean, damn. That was a tough. Yeah. What’s what’s the what’s what’s the biggest difference between the playoffs and the regular season physically, mentally that, you know, the average fan might not see? What’s the biggest difference? I mean, everything. I mean, it’s the best athletes in the world locking in at a whole another level. I mean, from playing a team, you know, hopefully not seven games, but every other day, like just understanding that you got to have a counter to a counter to another counter. Like, everybody knows what they’re going to do and it’s just it’s elite. It’s elite. It’s nothing like playing in the playoffs, especially in New York. Yeah. One 1,00%, man. as you head into this off season, what’s your goals for for next season? Like, do you you set goals for yourself? Like, is is there, you know, things that you want to work on to to take it to the next level? Yeah, I mean, as a basketball player, I want to work on my whole game. You know, I want to be a complete player. I feel like a guy going into the offseason, yeah, there little small parts of course of your game you want to really work on. And you know, for me, I feel like just continuing to be a a good ball handler, um being a leader, um and continuing just to grow my game from the mental aspect is always um a big focus for me. But, you know, as a basketball player, I’m trying to fully uh be complete out there. Now, this past season, you were beset by a lot of injuries. You had the inflammation in your knee, you had the hamstring, the groin. Did you feel like that impacted you during the playoffs? So, or what did you feel? Yeah, definitely. Um, you know, just it was a long year for these injuries. You know, I missed the whole summer. Um, last year, the first time I was able to hoop was September going into the season and, you know, that was just a a tough setback, but, you know, I I gave it my all. I left it all out there. Yeah. Yeah. The fans see the fans definitely see Bruce McBride in the building. Now you got you got the full you know a lot of the Knicks contingent is here and and most importantly the new head coach Mike Brown is out here in Las Vegas. Have y’all had any conversations? What’s the conversation like with you and coach Brown so far? Pretty much just you know introductions. Um obviously you know you guys knew probably before I did but uh you know you can’t you know I can’t make anything official until it’s official. Yeah. You know, for us, but uh yeah, it’s just been introductions, just getting to know him a little bit more. Just good conversations though for sure. A as you, you know, head into each season. This is going to be year number five you’re heading into. I mean, maybe it’s a possibility a starter bench, but what’s what’s your mindset as it relates to coming off the bench versus starting? Because at sometimes during the season you start, sometimes you come off the bench. What’s what’s your mindset like? impact. Um, that’s the main thing I want to do is just impact the game in a positive way, in any way I can. Absolutely. Absolutely. Five years in going into year five, who’s one of the toughest players you had to guard coming into this thing, man, man. A lot of tough dudes for sure. A lot of tough dudes. TJ TJ’s tough. Uh SGA’s tough. Steph, of course. Steph because of all the illegal screens. Dream Draymond. Draymond, I’m talking to you. Hey. Hey. But uh yeah. No, ob obviously he’s a special player, but them them those screens. Yeah. Not easy game, too. Yeah. D Draymond is playing football out there. He’s playing football out there, right? So, like, so you know, even even like two years ago, like I remember that that big game you had in Golden State where you went toe-to-toe with the chef. When you when you knowing that assignment like you come in and like I’m starting, what’s that preparation like for you? Is it is it more film? like what’s the what’s the preparation for you for going into a game? It’s it’s uh funny because I remember I told my my family I was gonna start that game and I remember my my brother and my dad sent me clips on clips of man YouTube links like yo check this and man but uh yeah definitely just try to lock in even more obviously cuz stopping him you know you’re you’re cutting off the heads of the snake so doing that is always the goal but you know I try to every game prepare my best Yeah. Yeah, 100. Absolutely, man. You know, one one of the the memorable sound bites from you last year, we talk about a guy we talking about summer league. You were talking to Ariel Hucky on the court and talking to him about earning his spot and and not wasting time whether you know some people may see it as garbage time, but not wasting those minutes, seizing that opportunity. What was that mindset like for you, you know, in your journey? This is year five for you. What what’s that that mindset like for you, man? Just never taking it for granted. I mean, I’m blessed. I’m I’m able to play a sport I love and, you know, take care of my family. Just had a daughter. So, congratulations, fatherhood. Clap it up. Clap it up. What’s your daughter’s name, bro? Ace. Ace. Give it up for Ace, man. Bless. Yeah. So, you know, my motivation is different now and, you know, just trying to not take it for granted. Um, share every moment and like I said, leave it all out there. Yeah. And if you, you know, if we go back a couple of years, your journey, it was, it was up and down. It’s with the team. It’s in Westchester with the team. Was there any particular person or teammate that was helping you kind of get through those those tumultuous times? I mean, honestly, all my teammates um were great. You know, the staff was great um the whole time, front office, um family, of course, I’m leaning on and God most of all, you know, trusting trusting my work. Um understanding just to stay patient and it all pay off. Yeah, absolutely. Um talk about the captain, man. How’s the captain, Jaylen Brunson, helped level you up? Is that somebody that when you are practicing, that’s somebody you going up against with oneonone? How’s the captain helped you, man? He’s he’s just set an example, you know. He’s come in and obviously I knew what he could do. I feel like a long time, you know, I was watching him when I was younger, you know, and I feel like he’s just set an example every day of how to work, you know, how to be a leader. Um, and you know, he’s just been great, great locker room guy. Yeah. Yeah. Big up to the captain, Jaylen Brunson. Absolutely. Absolutely. I didn’t mix me two acquisitions this summer. Jordan Clarkson, Gersh, Yaveli, how do you what do you feel like they’re going to add to that bench? The bench need a little bit more fire powers. What do you think those guys are going to add, man? I mean, um, Jordan’s been doing it for years. I mean, he’s been able to fill up the stashy. Um, been able to score the ball at such a high level and obviously Gershon, you know, I feel like everybody saw what he did in the Olympics and how he played and then, you know, he took that momentum and he had a really great year. Um, so I feel like they’re just going to add to what we already have and I think it’s going to be a great year. That’s that’s what’s up, man. Salute to those guys. And what’s what’s your message to these fans, man? We got fans here from all over the country. Oh, she said, “Are you coming? Did you Did you Did you hear about next Twitter day?” I saw some clips. Yeah, we got we got we got rings, man. We We the champs next Twitter. [Applause] Yeah. Appreciate it, man. Appreciate it. You know, I I I still can’t walk very well. You know, I’m I’m 40, dude. I’m an old guy, so it took me about a week to get over that game, but yeah, we we got the championship, bro. Yeah. Yeah. Hopefully, we’ll see you there next year. You know, we might need you to coach. We might need you to coach our team. I can do that. Absolutely. Absolutely, man. But yeah, what’s what’s your message to the fans, man? Man, love y’all, honestly. Right. Love you. I feel like uh you know playing in New York is is so special and it’s because of y’all. Like y’all y’all y’all drive us, you know what I mean? You guys are with us through the good, the bad, you know, the ups and downs and I really appreciate y’all from the bottom up. Absolutely. Really. Um last one for you. Um on on the heels of the birth of your daughter. Congratulations again. You also have a children’s book. You also have a children’s book out. Yeah. tell the people about the children’s book. Yeah, my whole goal um you know growing up and you know just wanting to inspire the youth becoming more uh prominent being a role model and you know I feel like the more power you have the more responsibility and you know I just want to be a person that can uh inspire change inspire positivity and things like that. Where can you find Amazon or where can Yeah, you can find it on Amazon. Okay. The name of the book Dudes the championship or the champion of friendship. There you go. There you go. Get it at Amazon. Ladies and gentlemen, give it up. Produce. [Applause] Yo, [Applause] the loser. [Applause]

  3. Bro I remember when you first started, I could have never envisioned what you have become. Your hard work and dedication has brought pizza heights that only God could have brought you through bro. Congratulations on your success, so proud of what you're doing.

  4. Love the Draymond snub that what he get for being scared to come to the danger zone …KFTV CP ..Keep growing and keep receiving your
    blessings…Ase
    ✊🏿🟠🔵🏀

  5. Hoping the best version of Deuce McBride on the court is yet to come. Great questions asked by CP, great answers by Deuce.

  6. How can anyone not love this young man?! 30 yrs from now, we'll still be hearing 'DEEEEEEUUUUUUCE' when he's in the front row watching the Knicks play.

That said, let's talk about Joel Embiid! This guy can go rescue 100 babies from a burning building and will still be a dirty player in our eyes. I don't give a 'family show' about that PR stunt write up his people had written about him, he's a clown who acts like a child on the court when things don't go his way &.. NEVER FORGOT GAME 4 2024! Why do we miss The Big Ragu? Cause he was in EmBITCH's face right after that BS play where he injured The Blockness Monster. Family Show the Sixers, Family Show Embaby & Family Show all Philly fans for all their sports teams.

  7. How can you not like Deuce,he's got his head on straight, works hard, very humble and grateful and praises the Lord at every turn

  8. CP great interview as always! Your attention to detail and the preparation that you do for each interview just shows man! Shout-out to you!! Respect!! Let me ask you, when you do some of these interviews do you give your guests the questions beforehand? Then again when you asked Deuce who was the most difficult player to guard…he had to really think!! So unless that was an extra question he didnt get beforehand..LOL. But seriously do some guests ask you for the questions beforehand? Peace & Blessings! ✌🏾🙏🏾

  9. Looks like real nice guy. Deuce needs to work on his perimeter shooting & be more consistent. Needs to be better with handling the ball. Missed way too many important shots in playoffs.
