The San Antonio Spurs Are Primed For A Breakout Season in 2026!

A man say man. This is the Aman show. Back at it again for more content. The San Antonio Spurs as an organization set the blueprint and standard to be a well-run machine. Ever since they drafted Tim Duncan with the first overall pick back in 1997, they have never missed the playoffs for over two decades. And of course, they won five championships within that span of the late 90s, 2000s, and of course in the early 2010s. They are often known to be the organization that is best at finding diamonds in the rough. such as drafting Tony Parker in the late first round back in 01 and Mano to Nobly in the second round and of course other knowable names such as Bruce Brown who was undrafted and most importantly Kawhi Leonard and also the Spurs are known to be the organization that represents team basketball. Sure, the Spurs were in a bit of a slump and had not so great of a rebuild for the past 5 years. Even though Jonte Murray back in 22 had developed to be a star in the NBA and had the best season of his career, the Spurs missed the playoffs for the third consecutive year in the 2020s. I touched on this subject a while back, but the Spurs knew this guy from France can bring this organization back to what they used to be and they were willing to get rid of Murray just to tank. Fortunately, they will eventually have the first overall pick the following year and will draft the most hyped and generational player of all time, arguably in Victor Winyama. Wimby will have one of the greatest rookie seasons of all time, being a unanimous rookie of the year while being second and defensive player of the year. This season proves why in the ne next couple of seasons, he can very well be among the top five players in the league. And the following year, he was climbing up steadily into a top 10 player in the league and helped a defensive player of the year candidate until a blood clock render him for the remainder of the second half of the season. Many, including me, have really concerns for his future. Will he be another Chris Bosch? Things of that nature. But recently, he was cleared from it. So, I feel confident for his future. Now, during the trade deadline, the Spurs went ahead and traded for Darren Fox to be Wimby second option on the team. And not even that, in the 24th draft, they selected Stfan Castle with the fourth overall pick, who was the rookie of the year by averaging 154 and four on 43 2972 shooting splits and shown to be a very solid athletic finisher and has defensive capabilities. The only thing is for him to consistently space the floor, which was a problem for him last season. But since he’s playing for the Spurs, who are known to have great developmental coaches, I think that Castle will eventually have reliable jumper. The very next draft, which is this year, they selected Dylan Harper with the second overall pick, a great potential two guard prospect who is a three-level scorer and has high upside. They also drafted a steel in Carter Bryant out of Arizona who is a 610 floor player who can also give you stifling defense on the other end. Also mentioning the other high first round picks they selected over the years such as Kellen Johnson, Devon Vel, and Germaine Soan. Not mentioning the players they acquired in free agency such as Harrison Barnes. They also added Kelly Olen and Luke Cornett. I feel like the Spurs can really make noise in the Western Conference and be a top five seed in this conference. Now, I know how much of a hot take it is given how incredibly deep this West is, but this Spurs team is very deep. They have a legit 12man lineup. Yes, 12man lineup. Of course, in the starting lineup, they have a big man and guard duo and Foxyama. Fox is one of the best point guards in the NBA. This is a guy who can create his own shot, a three-level scorer himself, electric finisher to the rim, and can play solid defense. At the two, you have the rookie of the year and Zon Castle, who can play off of Fox and beat that defensive stopper on the perimeter. Deon Vel, who has been one of the most underrated players in the NBA, who has been an efficient 17 points per game and is one of the better 3 and D wing players in the league and can also corate for himself. Harrison Barnes, who is a 3 and D established veteran, and of course, Wimbby, who I am going to discuss further more later on. For the second unit, you have Dylan Harper, who can be a spark plus six-man type scoreer. Julian Champeni, who can space the forward really well, a 39 to 40% shooter from three. Carter Bryant, who is another three and switchable D forward. Jeremy Tokan, who is a do-it-all forward and is a highle switchable defender as well. And Kelly Olenic, who is a floor spacing big. You also have Kellen Johnson who’s another scoring rotational threat as well. and Luke Cornette who is another energy and defensive big you can throw around. And the coach for this team is Miss Johnson who is viewed as Pop’s hair. He’s the one who developed the young core since day one and the one that risen up the ranking similar to an Eris Boltra. The team has improved under him. They had a better offense and kept them in more closer games while maintaining that defensive identity for the Spurs and is really because of the more moderized system around this team. I feel confident in him as far as the progression for this team because he has proven that he can develop players and fits in as a team’s head coach. Overall, the Spurs will improve offensively and defensively this upcoming season. I believe that Victor Vanyama will establish himself as a top 10, maybe a top five player in the NBA. Hell, even put himself in the conversation as the best player in the NBA. He can not only be a DPO front winner, but a top three MVP candidate. I really believe so. During the off season, he put on 30 pounds of muscle, meaning he’s not only going to be much stronger as far as rebounding, finishing with contact, but he will be a more dominant post defender in him taking a leap in his offensive game like he did last season, and that led to him making his first ever All-Star appearance. I am expecting this guy to really prove to the NBA that he is among the faces of this league and challenge SGA and Anthony Edwards and of course Jokish as the main face and most importantly proved more to everyone why he is touted as a generational player with his impact on the floor along with the improvement of the already better young cores in the league and also a secondary star in De Fox who will remind everyone that he is a top 10 player at his position. Him and Wimyama will be viewed as arguably the best one to punch in the NBA. Their picking role is going to be damn near impossible to stop. The Spurs are really a lock to make the playoffs in this tough west. They can potentially have a top 10 offense and defense. The only concerns I have about this team is the shooting. The Spurs have shooters such as Vel, Champagany, Olen, and Barnes, but they do have a boatload of guys who can’t really space the floor that well just yet. And that can cause clogged laying issues and inexperience as well. They don’t have playoff experience just yet, which is the step that each young team will make after making the playoffs and the major step, might I add, in order for them to make a title run. I don’t think they’re a championship team, of course, but I do see them make taking a massive leap towards becoming a playoff team in the West. Not only you should be optimistic about this first team this upcoming season, but you should be very optimistic about their future because they have the second most draft picks besides OKC. And they were once in the Giannis sweep stakes, but smartly backed out of it because it is not worth the risk to get a guy like Giannis, especially if you’re dealing with shooting issues on this team. The Spurs are clearly following the OKC route where they are building mostly through the draft and making trades here and there. They have a boatload of young talent on this roster and even if the Spurs make strides towards becoming an elite team and cast space becomes an issue, Darren Fox might be the odd man out in the next couple of years because they have their guard for the long future in Dylan Harper if he pans out. Yes, I don’t see Fox playing there for more than four years and eventually they will have to make the decision to trade him for assets or depth and have Harper take over as the point guard for this team. I feel like Fox is there to have that star experience presence that Harper can learn from and then he can take over in the next couple of years. So, in conclusion, I believe that the Spurs will be a top five seed in the West and will take a massive leap. They can and will be a team that can compete with anyone in the league and could make it all the way to the second round of the playoffs. It is very likely for them to do so and also this season will prove to everyone that they will be in championship contention for many years to come. Now, the San Antonio Spurs are going to be relevant again. Expect Charles Barkley talk more about the big ass women in San Antonio because man, it is a secret down there. It’s a great city. I think they got the best organization NBA, but they do have some big old women down there. I mean, come on now. Those five ladies were big. And that, my friends, is the end of the video.
