But this trade would see the Philadelphia 76ers receiving Chris Middleton and Marcus Smart and the Washington Wizards receiving Paul George a 2027 first round pick, a 2028 second round pick, and a 2029 second round draft pick. So obviously this can’t happen anymore because Marcus Smart was bought out and signed with the Lakers. So, they’re going to have to go ahead and replace him either through another contract or some draft capital. But just kind of breaking down uh Paul George more so going to the Wizards plus draft capital. That’s a pretty solid bet in my opinion uh from the Wizards perspective. This team is probably not going to be a playoff team uh once again next season. Now, I do think the Wizards actually are building something relatively decent. They are getting better and I’ve loved a lot of the moves that they made this off season. I think if they’re able to get Paul George, who had a disastrous season last year, a very expensive contract, injuries are a concern as well, the list goes on and on. But if you’re able to get draft capital with that, that’s a pretty good bet in my books. You take on his contract, you get three draft picks out of it. One uh one of which being a 2027 first round draft pick for an aging Chris Middleton plus another asset. That’s a really good deal in my personal opinion. uh from the 76ers perspective if Paul George has another terrible season then yes I would accept this trade without a doubt despite the fact that it doesn’t really make them that much better I would say but getting out of his deal attaching draft capital to it might be what what has to happen uh you cut your losses you attach some draft capital you kind of have a clean slate that way and then you proceed but just sort of given how this roster is currently constructed uh Jared McCain’s coming back from his injury they of course drafted VJ Edgecomb uh third overall Uh they have Tyrese Maxi and B coming back from his injury. If Paul George bounces back a little bit and shows that he was the player uh back in his prime or at least somewhat of that uh in Philadelphia, I would keep them. They could be a good playoff team next year and potentially even one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference. So based on this deal, without a doubt, the winner to me would be the Washington Wizards. But as always, leave your thoughts.
