Lillard chose HAPPINESS over chasing rings! #damianlillard #dametime #portlandtrailblazers #nba
Shout outs to Dame Lillard and the Portland Trailblazers for patching up their relationship. And Dame is heading back to Portland. Wow. I did not expect that to happen. I thought Dame probably would have ended up in Boston. I thought Dame would probably would have ended up in a place like Miami because he wanted to go there previously. Never thought that he had a chance to sign with my Lakers. Maybe he would have thought about going to the Spurs. Maybe may he there’s a plenty of places Golden State but for him to basically tell us that he wanted to go home. His family lives in Portland. He’s 35 years old at this point. He’s going to be 36 by the time he gets back to playing basketball after the the torn Achilles, right? He has to rehab for the entire year. And for him to be able to get a deal done with with the Blazers is a three-year deal worth I believe is $42 million. This kind of puts a bullet in the ring culture argument. Anytime we see somebody in basketball, they’re in an organization for a long time. They’re a very good player, they’re multipletime all-star, and they they tend to just not be able they’re not able to break through to that that next level to get to the the the championship or whatever it is, the next reaction that we all have, and I’m guilty of doing this as well. Oh, they got to leave. Oh, they got to leave. They got to go somewhere else. They waste They’re wasting their time here. They got to go somewhere else to be able to compete. The organization will understand. They’ll appreciate it. They’ll facilitate where you want to go, but you got to leave. Why? We just seen how a player got sucked into the ring culture pressure and told his organization a few years ago, “Yeah, maybe it’s time for us to be able to facilitate a trade to have me go somewhere else.” He goes to Milwaukee and he wasn’t bad in Milwaukee, but did they live up to the expectation between him and Giannis in Milwaukee? No, they didn’t. Plus, they hired the dumbest coach in in in in the NBA, and that that didn’t help matters. But this is proof that the grass isn’t always greener. Sometimes being comfortable and being entrenched in where you are matters more than chasing something that may not fulfill you as a player. Everybody says that, yo, if you’re not if you’re not aiming to win a championship, then you should not be playing sports. There’s truth to that, right? But there’s also truth in being able to be comfortable where you are, where you want to be, and where you’re going to be the most happy. You can go out there and go win seven championships. What if you’re not happy doing that? You won a title, but is that enough for you to be able to be

i mean he could also have regrets at the end of the day for not winning 1 as well. To be satisfied with just being comfortable with where he is at might bring him joy now sadness later.
