Kobe comes to Detroit
The following is a special presentation of the Palace Sports and Entertainment Network. [Music] Budweiser presents Detroit Pistons basketball. Welcome to another exciting night of NBA basketball. Tonight, live from the palace, it’s the Pistons and the Los Angeles Lakers. The NBA’s best. The Lakers play the Palace tonight. The Pistons hoping some luck of the Irish and some continued good play will lead them to what would be a resounding win. Good evening everybody. I’m George Blaha with my partner Kelly Trapa and KT. Did St. Patrick’s Day come early for the Washington Wizards last night? I think the Leprechauns visited the MCI Center. The Pistons are going to meet a Laker team that’s 24-8 on the road this year. They are definitely the league’s best, but uh they had a 19game winning streak snap last night and the Pistons are going to meet an angry Laker team, but it just proves they can be beat. George, one Pistons been on a tear during the home stand for George Irvin. Jerry Stackhouse averaging almost 31 a half, throw in four assists and three boards and some redot shooting, too. Maybe George the best streak that he’s had all year. Playing with a lot of confidence. You know who else is playing with confidence, especially in his last two, the X Factor, Christian Lightner. Really big numbers the other night against Orlando. They’re going to need that type effort from Christian. We’ve talked about him being the X factor in the past. How about 17 boards against the Magic and eight on the offensive end. They would sure like to see those type of numbers tonight. All right, let’s talk about him. The big fella, the leading candidate, one of the few for MVP, Shaquille O’Neal. Look at the season long numbers. And he’s been hotter lately. Oh, unstoppable as far as I’m concerned. He is the MVP. He will be. If he’s not, they ought to be in an investigation. On the 6th of March, he had the first 60 rebound performance in the NBA since Wilt did it in 1969. But he gets help every night, especially from Kobe Bryant. Well, there’s no question he gets help. Kobe Bryant’s coming into his own. You see those type of numbers, shoots the ball very well. He’s their breakdown guy. He can shoot the three. He’ll step out and knock down the jump shot, but he’s so good at slashing and creating his own shot. And Kobe Bryant has also become a top defender along with Shiel O’Neal, excuse me, because he has started to shut down people, the other opponents top scorers at times. Yep. Shaq and Kobe are here and the Pistons have won four of their last five. Stay with us before a full house at the Palace for all the action on the Pistons television network.
