People Need to Stop LYING About the OKC Thunder

is are you ready to start talking about a dynasty him being only you know 27 years old the core of this team being so young it puts them in a position to where you know they could realistically rip off you know two three four of these with an average age below 25 and Shay Gilders Alexander an MVP and an all-time scoring guard leading the way Jaylen Williams is still coming into his own we haven’t even sniffed Chet Homegun ceiling yet with a mountain of future picks and one of the NBA’s best GMs in San Prey yes OKC has dynastic potential so it’s official the Oklahoma City Thunder have finally wrapped up a historic season with an NBA championship and throughout the year there was so many lies put on this team fake agendas nasty narratives but with them winning the championship the conversation is now shifted to if they could become a potential dynasty and I find that very interesting considering how skeptical people were about this exact same team and roster like 2 3 months ago i wouldn’t even say OKC was next i would say the Clippers i would go far and say the Warriors over OKC [Music] it’s not breaking news for me to say that the Thunder are going to be a household name for the next decade it feels like this is a team whose big three consist of players such as Cadet Homegrren who’s 22 years old hasn’t even played a full season in the NBA yet and is already one of the best defenders in the league and even though obviously has flaws offensively that we saw throughout the whole playoffs especially in the finals with his on ball creation he can still space the floor at the five has some potential with his ball handling ability passing playmaking and just off that alone can give you 15 to 18 points per game on any given night chet has so much room to grow and when you watch him you can see the potential every single time he gets the ball for him it’s all about staying healthy and building on what he’s already shown now the health is something that we’re going to get to later on this video but I do think the future is bright with him then you got Jdub who’s 23 years old already one of the best defenders in the league the guy is a 65 wing who can go out there and guard multiple positions even play the five when Chad was out with the injury in the small ball lineups elite help defender weak side rim protection gets in passing lanes fights over screens moves his feet well laterally there’s really nothing he can’t do on that side of the ball and offensively just like Chad yeah he can be a little bit suspect at times especially in some big games i ain’t gonna lie but he showed more than enough more than enough for me to say he’s going to be a solidified star over the next handful of seasons his ability as an off-ball player a cutter three-point shooter off the catch even off the dribble at times and just overall strength at getting to the rim it’s insane for real and throw in some of the playmaking chops he’s shown over the last two seasons I definitely think he could become if not a top 15 player potentially a top 10 player in the league now I don’t think he’s going to be a top 10 player but top 15 is not too much to ask but we all know they’re spearheaded by their man myth and legend Sheay Gilis Alexander this [ __ ] is 26 years old and still has room to improve as the current reigning MVP scoring champion and now finals MVP and NBA champion there is not a single skill on the ball this [ __ ] don’t have he can get to the rim on anybody one of the best drivers in the league and finishers in the league he has a variety of his mid-range shots and he can hit them all at an insane high clip throw in the fact that he’s an improved three-point shooter even though it was shaky in the postseason it didn’t matter because the mid-range made up for it with the volume and efficiency i truly do think he’s also even an underrated athlete people look at Anthony Edwards LeBron Giannis as the only players associated with athleticism and I’m not saying Sheay’s on their level but Sheay’s athleticism gets overlooked too much in these conversations his burst off the dribble and ability to split screens is insane pair that also with his underrated upper body strength because he’s a very physical player when you drive to the rim as much as he does you’re going to take a lot of contact and people can complain about how he sells the contact but at the end of the day there are a lot of fouls that they don’t even call just go watch some of the fan cam footage of how they defend Shay Gilis Alexander on every single play and you’ll see the defenders get away with a lot of physicality that should be called as fouls realistically the guy should be getting to the free throw line like 28 to 30 times a game so you really should be happy with the amount of times he’s actually getting to the free throw line and when you couple the offensive package that he has with also being a good defender he’s not an elite defender definitely not among the top three or four defenders on that OKC team but the value he brings as a point guard to that team cannot be overstated he gives them some weak side rim protection he also gives them some great rebounding at that position he’s also good at getting in passing lanes he has a specific role to use his size on that side of the ball and versatility flexibility and he does it very well there’s been a lot of conversations about where Shay’s season this year ranks on the all-time scale and I ain’t going to lie I really don’t know where it compares to other all-time greats outside of the guards but I can say for point guards it’s up there with the best of them this was an all-time great scoring season in the regular season and playoffs and he capped it off with a championship and finals MVP you can’t just act like that doesn’t matter it was one for the books and obviously the greatest season in Oklahoma City history now I said all those positives about OKC’s big three but now we have to get into the realistic part of the conversation all this dynasty talk because I feel like we do this every couple of years with a young upand cominging team or a team that was finally able to break through that glass ceiling with their best player and their role players and we act like they’re just about to run off a whole bunch of chips and we have to remind people that if you just look at the last seven to eight years we’ve had a new champion every single year 2018 was the Warriors 2019 was the Raptors 2020 was the Lakers 21 was the Bucks 22 was the Warriors again 23 was the Nuggets last year was the Celtics and this year the Oklahoma City Thunder you can’t just call everything a potential dynasty and I had to learn the hard way when I thought the Lakers were going to run off a bunch of chips after 2020 to win a championship requires so many things and one of the most obvious of them all is luck the OKC Thunder had a lot of luck on their side with health and let me explain that because people are going to hear that and say “Oh you can’t knock them for being healthy or other teams not being healthy.” And that’s not necessarily what I’m referring to of course you can look at Tyrese Hallebertton getting hurt or Aaron Gordon being injured for game seven and you can make the argument that if those things don’t happen maybe the Thunder don’t win a championship but I can take it even further than that because it all started at the beginning of the year c got hurt and missed a huge chunk of the season and you may be wondering why is Mustard bringing that up he still came back and played all of the playoffs well I’ll tell you why because in the future when they’re going to have to let go of some of these role players like Alex Caruso Cassan Wallace Lou Dort or Isaiah Hardenstein who played a big role while Chad was out who’s also making over 25 million a year that injury is going to be a lot more detrimental when Chad’s on a max contract and I don’t think it’s a crazy assumption to say that Chad is going to be an injury-prone player or at the bare minimum more susceptible to injuries compared to his counterparts he literally missed his rookie season due to an injury and this year suffered an injury as well that limited him to less than 40 games played now I’m not going to put the whole injury-prone label on him just yet i mean he did play 82 games last year and the postseason so it’s not like he’s incapable of being healthy for a full year but at the end of the day it’s something that you have to consider and when you’re throwing the word dynasty around I don’t think enough people are factoring in that aspect and another thing people don’t want to talk about in this conversation is the fact that Jet and Jub they may never get better there have been numerous examples in NBA history of young players showing hella promise and potential and then they follow that up by being stagnant and plateau the more and more OKC relies on Chet and JDub the standard of their level of play will continue to go up what’s going to happen when Isaiah Hardenstein’s not there for the double big lineup and Chets’s playing as bad as he did in the NBA finals what’s going to happen when they lose guys like Lou Dord and Alex Caruso and Shay’s going to have to guard more on the ball these are all realistic scenarios and questions you have to factor in when you’re having the conversation of a potential dynasty and when you look at the history of OKC they are a small market team hence going over the luxury tax and the apron those are not things they can afford to do like the Los Angeles Lakers or the Golden State Warriors now they may keep doing it if they’re winning championships and making the finals consistently but the moment that stops and it goes to first round exits or second round exits who really knows what the owner and Sam prey are going to have to do with their decisions and while we’re on the topic of the front office I will give them credit and argue for them in this aspect they do have hella draft picks and OKC has proven that they can draft very well make smart decisions in the trade market and whether that’s getting guys in the second round or late first round picks or even looking at an undrafted player like Lou Dort they have earned the benefit of the doubt at the end of the day I think OKC is great i think they have an insanely bright future having an MVP and Shay Gilis Alexander alone sets you up for a great future and paired up with one of the best defenders in the league a two-way player in JDub as well as Cadet Homegrren a young center on the rise the possibilities truly are endless which is why I understand that the conversation of Dynasty is being had but all I ask for is realistic expectations and honest conversations this is a team that many people didn’t even think would get here because of their age they were doubted at almost every single turn by so many media members former NBA players who scoffed at every single thing they did this regular season despite them winning 68 games despite them having a historically great defense and despite them having the league leading scorer and now finals MVP and regular season MVP in Sheay Gilis Alexander but now all I ask for is for people to not get carried away dynasties don’t just grow on trees every

  1. As a diehard OKC fan for years. I appreciate all this “Dynasty” talk. But let us just have this one we wanted this one so bad let us just live in the moment and appreciate this one instead of living for the future.

  2. Interested in seeing what your offseason content is gonna be like. Know you probably have a lot of ideas

  3. Comparing OKC to the last seven champions shows you something very different about them though.
They are elitely set up at all major areas.

They have a million draft picks.

Their number two and number three players are on rookie deals.

They have a MVP in his Prime( who is on a cheaper contract for 2 more seasons)

    Elitle Front Office and Scouting.

A dynasty is never a guarantee. But OKC is undoubtedly the team the most set up for one since the Warriors. They without a doubt have a clear two season window to one another ring before they have to restructure. And then they have all the flexibility to do so. Im predicting Jwill will make an all star team in the next few years and want a max. He will be the player that gets moved.

  4. Under current salary rules dynasty is nearly impossible and it’s good to share the love. So I’m not complaining.
The Thunder will have to choose between JW or Chet in 2 years. In my opinion let Chet go due to injuries. I don’t think that bean pole is going to stay healthy at 5. Use draft picks to load up potential or bring in hired help. SJA probably only has 6-7 years at most with his style of play. I will say in Sam Presti I have trust. That dude is real Thunder MVP

  5. You don’t even know how much Chet has played. Certainty not going to trust anything else you have to say. Get your facts straight.

  6. I'm not saying they're good be a dynasty but they can be like the Spurs dynasty winning 3 out of 5 years or so. With this young core all the draft picks and the best GM in the league they can do it.

  7. Shai, Jdub, Chet, IHart, Dort, Caruso, Cason, Wiggins, Joe, Jwill, Kenrich, and don’t forget Topic all returning multiple years. Yes, Dynasty is a possibility.

  8. OKC is a great team and due to how their financials are set up, I suspect expect to be serious repeat contenders for at least the next two seasons. With that being said, we have had this convo with every team since the Bucks in 21 lmao I think NBA fans need to chill with the thirst for another dynasty, especially when the League has the most parity it has had since the 70s

  9. Sorry, but Caruso getting away with fouling Jokic in game 7 is the only reason they won that series. That and all the calls for Dildos-Alexander.

  10. Just enjoying this ONE! Who knows what the future holds, but as of 2025, Oklahoma City is a city of champions and that can never be taken away.

  11. the luxury tax isn't a small market thing, it's a owner issue, it's the same reason the Lakers and the Celtics owners sold their franchises to some of the richest billionaires in the world! if the owners are willing to go over the luxury tax for a while and win titles sooner than later they'll be able to flip it for a major return in investment, OKC is in great position, Sam Presti is one of the younger general managers (yes I know that sounds insane but it's true) and he's already drafted so many great players, we have assets galore, and obviously we have 2 young players with top 15 potential, I think the Lakers dynasty talk was ridiculous back then just look how old that roster was, I thought the Nuggets and Celtics dynasty conversation was ridiculous, the Celtics were relying on again old players, and the Nuggets had older players they relied a lot on, and buying too high on the potential of MPJ being reached. OKC is in position to repeat, unlike Boston who's style of play would be begging for older guys to continue to play at a higher level, Jrue Holiday in specific had an insane 3 point shooting season I thought was never replicatable, a lot of these rosters lost very key players or saw regression in their older assets, OKC is very likely to just improve in the margins, health isn't a concern for OKC because of depth, Chet is the only guy with real concern, but both of his injuries were injuries you don't get in the NBA typically so I'm kind of betting on those not being a consistent issue, I think the conversation with the Thunder is a lot more realistic than for any of these other franchises, you also have to take into account the timing for the Thunder, it's likely that the NBA is going to expand very soon, and the amount of money that's going to be put into the league will be major in ensuring a guy like Cason Wallace gets paid and we don't have to lose a ton of our depth.

  12. I live in OKC and all year kept hearing the same BS about my team about the Thunder being to young, to inexperienced, not gonna make it past the 2nd round, and etc but the Thunder proved all the haters wrong by winning the title. Now the same haters are either quiet or doing a 180 turn and saying they was always the favorite to win it all anyways.

  13. With this new CBA, it’s hard to build dynasty’s especially if you end up with multiple super max players. Look at Boston

  14. Can’t believe people wanna hate on this squads future because the 2nd youngest team in Finals history didn’t just dominate in the prettiest way possible

It’s literally the 2nd playoff run of this era as a team and they got it done, let them get some experience😂

  15. bro mfs must’ve forgot that OKC jus came off a szn where they almost went to the wcf I think more than safe to say that they can become a dynasty, all of those hypothetical negatives that yall say ab OKC are jus you being a hater and not wanting them to become one lmao

  16. I will say for the Chet injury stuff, he has had some pretty unique injuries, which could either be a good thing or a bad thing lol. He did play every game in the 23-24 season, and his injuries have been a broken hip from a crazy fall and a foot injury because LeBron landed in him, which do both seem like freak accidents. Hopefully this is all pointing to Chet being a generally healthy player, because it felt like he was ramping up into a really great player and that hip injury really took the wind out of his sails.
