Knicks Facing OBSTACLES In FA! HUGE UPDATE On NY’s MAIN TARGET For Final Roster Spot | Knicks News

The Knicks are facing obstacles in free agency preventing them from making all of the moves that they want to make. We also have an update on Ben Simmons, who as of right now seems to be the Knicks main target and when he’s going to choose his next team. We’re going to break down all of these latest reports today. If you’re enjoying the content, please hit that subscribe button and have notifications turned on so you don’t miss any new content. And now, let’s get started. The Knicks main free agent target. As soon as free agency started, the Knicks knew they couldn’t waste any time because they’re facing obstacles right now preventing them from adding all the players that they want to add. This is coming from Keat Smith, an NBA insider who was at Summer League. And when he was there, he spoke to a Knicks coach who gave us the following information on the Knicks offseason moves and the obstacles that they’re facing in free agency. According to this Knicks coach about the Knicks off season moves, he stated the following. We didn’t have a lot that we could do because of the apron. So right there you already see the obstacles that the Knicks are facing is that they are limited with the cap space they have available to add players to this team. The other problem is they want to add a number of different players to this roster. But they can’t do that because again they do not have the cap space to add all the players that they really wanted to add to this team. Let’s continue here. Now that we understand the obstacles that the Knicks are facing in free agency, let’s see what else this Knicks coach had to say about the other moves the Knicks made this off season, according to him. But we were able to land a really good big man in Gerson Yabaselli and an experienced backup guard in Jordan Clarkson. We feel pretty good about getting those two guys and I would feel good as well if I’m New York and I’m limited in what I can do in free agency because I don’t have the cap space. I don’t have the money to make all the moves I want to add. And even with those limitations, I’m able to go out in free agency and land Jordan Clarkson for the vet minimum. Lan Gerson Yabaselli for a little under the taxpayer mid-level exception. And I still have a roster spot available to give to a veteran for a vet minimum contract. And I can sell that veteran to join this team because if you come to New York, we have one goal next season and that’s to win a championship. And we finally have the roster under a new head coach to finally get us to where we belong, where we should have been this season, the NBA finals. So we have a chance, an opportunity to break this 50 plus year drought and bring a championship home to the Knicks. But it does make you wonder though, if the Knicks were not limited and they could go after a number of different free agents, would they have gone after different free agents other than Jordan Clarkson and Gerson Yabaselli? At least listening to this Knicks coach, it kind of sounds like they would have if they were able to. But because they couldn’t, they had to pivot and look at other different free agents. But even if they did that, they still landed on Jordan Clarkson and Gerson Yabaselli. If that wasn’t their initial move, but that was their second or third move. Talk about having a plan and a strategy. Thank you again to Leon Rose. But this Knicks coach also said something else. He also spoke about the Knicks pushing for a finals run and he said the following. We’re close. We were already right there. Now, we think we’re even closer. This is a great group and the additions we’ve made will push us even further. 100% agree with that. One of the main issues going into this off season for the Knicks was their depth. Their depth pieces on this team and how New York was going to utilize them. Utilization, that’s now a check because you brought in Mike Brown. But now you have to give them more pieces off the bench to actually work with. New York did that this off season. Gerson Yabaselli, Jordan Clarkson, and we have one roster spot remaining that we can give to a veteran guard at the vet minimum contract level. That brings me to the next topic I have to talk about. When you’re talking about who that main target is that the Knicks have in free agency, even though I don’t like it, I have to acknowledge it at this point. There have been so many insiders, so many different reports that have linked the Knicks to one specific player, and it’s a player that I do not want to be added to this team, but it looks like he might end up here anyways, and that’s Ben Simmons. And I know what you’re thinking. I thought you said we’re facing obstacles. I thought you said we were limited in what we could offer different players in free agency. And last time I checked, Ben Simmons wants more than the vet minimum, which is all the Knicks have to offer him right now. That is all true. However, look how long we are in free agency right now. How many weeks have gone by? Ben Simmons, he’s still a free agent. That means his market and the amount of teams that want him is not likely very high. And even if it is, they probably don’t want him at more than the vet minimum. That means some teams like the Knicks, who maybe he wouldn’t have considered early on because he didn’t want a vet minimum contract. If he understands and knows right now these are the only offers on the table and he has to choose between a couple of teams, he might end up choosing the Knicks. even if it’s for the vet minimum because with the Knicks he still gets a chance at being able to win a championship and that alone might entice him to accept that vet minimum contract and join this Knicks team. But if he’s going to do that and make that decision, it will not happen right away. It will not happen right now. According to reports, Ben Simmons is set to make a decision on where he’s going to play basketball next season, next week. Shout out to New York basketball and Brian Winhorse on the app X for giving us this following information. According to him, the Ben Simmons sweep stakes are heating up and he’s expected to make a decision on where he’ll be taking his talents within the next week. Here’s the exact quote that we have from Brian Winhorse. According to him, I’m told he’s probably going to make a choice in the next week. Kings, Suns, Knicks, and Celtics have all been connected to him. The fact that the Knicks were named again by another NBA insider, that tells you that Ben Simmons is most likely their main target in free agency. And since he probably hasn’t received many offers over the vet minimum, he’s now weighing his options. And clearly, one of those options happens to be the New York Knicks. But even if we’re in a rush to understand his decision and understand where he’s going to play basketball next, we’re not going to get that answer anytime soon. Ben Simmons will let everybody know where he’s going to play basketball next next week. So that means if the Knicks are waiting on him to make a decision before they look elsewhere in free agency, New York will not make any other moves right now until next week until they hear back from Ben Simmons and understand what he wants to do. But here’s the thing. I don’t want Ben Simmons to join this team. So, I am hoping I don’t care what team it is. I’m just hoping it’s not the Knicks. any team besides the Knicks, if they offer Ben Simmons even this much more than the vet minimum, he will go with that team and play with that team next season because right now for him, he just wants to play for another organization where he’s not given the vet minimum contract. I’m not sure why he feels that way, but I’m guessing the reasoning behind it is because he feels like he’s a better player than just a vet minimum contract. So, he wants a little bit more to justify his thinking. And maybe he’ll get it. I hope he does. I just hope he doesn’t get it from New York. And New York can’t even give him more than the vet minimum. So, if he wants that, he’s not getting it from the Knicks anyways. If he wants the vet minimum and he agrees to join this Knicks team at only that level, then the Knicks will be able to add him. But if he wants even a little bit more than that or any team gives him even this much more, he is joining that team and nothing else than that. I think it’s only inevitable at this point in time. Ben Simmons has a legitimate chance to make the Knicks join this roster. and wear the orange and blue. I cannot believe what is happening right now. But what about you guys? What do you think about the Knicks and potentially them adding Ben Simmons to this roster next week? Let me know how you feel about that in the comments section below, guys, because honestly, I would love to hear from you. But that’s going to do it for this episode. I hope you enjoyed it and if you did, go ahead and smash that like button, leave a comment below, and of course, guys, please subscribe to the channel. Until next time, Nick fans, take care of yourself, your families, and each other. Peace and

A Knicks coach recently discussed NY’s free agency moves and the obstacles faced given the cap limitations and players they wanted to add to the roster. But NY was still able to add two key depth pieces to the team for next season. However, it’s impossible to deny anymore after today’s latest report, who the Knicks main target in free agency is and now we have an idea of when he’ll make his decision… Troy Mahabir breaks all of this down!

  1. Ben Simmons is coming….and he’s coming for the Vet Minimum and nothing more. I don’t believe he’s gonna break us and he might give us a little something if he’s used right but I could take or leave him and would’ve rather had Smart but we couldn’t give him what he wanted in playing time.

  2. 😭😭😭😭
I do not want Ben Simmons here. He will not be able to play here in New York; he has stress issues. I want a player like Malcom Brogdom to who can come in and help immediately.
Thanks so much for the video Troy. I’m so happy I’m a member!

  3. It will definetly be shamet or simmons im thanking westbrook goes to Sacramento and since theu resigned mcdermott i dont see them getting simmons

  4. i dont like ben simmons, he a lazy complaining bum, he alway injuried n not dependable.if he was that gd he would still be undrifted lol. hell to the no

  5. Hell na, I'm good on that one trick bum, I'm on every one of these videos saying we don't need that no offense & injury prone trash, technically we already got someone who has no offense & always injured(Mitch) one player like that is enough, might as well get Vanderbilt too since we tryna collect bums like Simmons 💀

Mike Brown got the same record as Thibs in the playoffs basically & I always liked Clarkson, he's a 6th man, him & McBride can help the bench plus Yabusele & Hart. Shoulda had Shamet. Arial/Kolek needs minutes to develop, all that G League BS isn't going to prepare them for the actual NBA because in order to go against actual NBA players, you need to actually go up against actual NBA players which means they need to get consistent minutes during the regular season.

  6. People acting like everything else Ben does isn’t valuable. My only concern would be health but you could argue that for any player.

  7. The Knicks will sign Jrue Holiday for the last spot. If that happens all u Knicks fans owe me tickets for the 2025-26 season, and also including the playoffs 😂.

  8. You holding your face in disbelief had me like "me either" I already had a face palm. Leon smart so why he tryna get this clown on the team, can't be too smart if you want another injury prone guy with no offense 😭 I pray he wants more then the vet minimum so he won't be on our team, he shouldn't even be in the league, it has to be politics cause like I said what blackmail does he have on the league cause why even here 💀

  9. If Ben Simmons can stay healthy and learn not to have to be treated with kid-gloves, because mentally he can become way too sensitive regarding fans and media, his skill set I believe could help the Knicks as a backup point guard to Brunson. Plus, he can play all 5 positions and cause mismatches.

  10. I just found out why Leon Rose wants Ben Simmons! He's a Giannis stopper. I see a 3 team trade coming soon and i see Brigdes on the trading block.

  11. He's not taking no minimum deal he's worth more than dat! Sign and trade in a 3 team deal coming soon. We can reset our financial situtation with Big Ben and get draft picks

  12. Please, not Ben Simmons, choose a different vet but not him. He hasn't proven his skills since the phily seasons. If he is signed, then he will be the blame for upcoming games in the future. No

  13. Simmons need a new environment, the right people to change his mentality and if it works we will be truly rewarded to have him

  14. I do not want Ben Simmons. He was only good in Philly. In the regular season, with the Nets, Ben averaged 6.5 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 6.3 apg, 1spg, and 0.7bpg. In the regular season, with the Clips, Ben averaged 2.9 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 3.1 apg, 0.7spg, and 0.4bpg. In the playoffs, with the Clips, Ben averaged 0.8 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 0.8 apg, 0.2spg, and 0.8bpg. I am not going to listen to, I am not going to understand, I am not going to consider, I am not going to respect the whole New York should sign Ben Simmons garbage.

  15. I don’t think he’s coming here. He was already in Brooklyn and flamed out there. So I doubt it. I’m hoping the Clippers release Kris Dunn after signing Paul & Beal. I think he would be the perfect JB back up, plus he plays defense.

  16. You’re dead wrong in your assessment of Simmons. He’s exactly what the Knicks need and frankly, he needs the Knicks just as much! He plays defense against 1 through 5. He’s a ball distributor. He’s 6’11”. He rebounds and he’s effective inside. As quiet as it’s kept, he shot 52% from the field last season. He can be effective if his mental is right and he’s used correctly. I think that being around guys like Brunson and Hart would help him tremendously.

  17. Ben Simmons has never been a winner on any level, I just don't see him being a contributing factor on this team, but a healthy Ben Simmons might surprise some people
