Pascal Siakam 32 Points : 2019 NBA Finals : Game 1 | Toronto Raptors vs. Golden State Warriors
It took 24 years, but the NBA has his first Canadian entrance in the NBA finals as the Golden State Warriors come to Toronto and Scotia Bank Arena to take on the Eastern Champion. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Everybody on your feet and let’s welcome the starting lineup for your Toronto record. and jumping in the middle of the key. The big boss of Barcelona, number 33, Mark from UFC, the money man from three-point land. We’re in number 14. Give it up for Ty Green. We keep it spicy on the forward representing Cameroon number 43. He is your fivetime NBA Allstar from North Philly to your city, women number seven, Kyle Lowry. from California. They call him the club. You know who number two letter head coach of the Toronto Raptors is Nick. [Applause] Welcome to game one of the NBA finals and welcome world to Toronto to Ontario to Canada for the first time ever. The NBA Finals is outside of the United States. No better place than the great city of Toronto. Jordan Bell, the jump center against Mark Gaul. Bell the biggest Golden State Warrior on the court to start at 69. James Capers, Jason Phillips, John Goble are three officials and the Raptors open up with possession of the basketball. Steve Kerr wants to do is test the speed and ability of Mark Gasol to handle the transition game and stepping up high with Jordan Bell. Definitely a guy has a quickness advantage. puts it on the deck. Sends it now to Sakam Gasol. Seven on the shot clock. Green back to Pascal. He’s got Curry on him. Another good look. Danny Green. Splash. Green from Toronto. Great defense. Lowry gets back. Thompson stays with it and banks it in. A great initial defense by Kyle Lowry. Danny Green as well, but Klay Thompson staying with it. Well, how good was that to see that ball go through the net for Danny Green? 52% three-point shooter in the NBA finals. And Blade Thompson commits the foul. He just hasn’t been able to find the bottom bottom of the net. So hopefully this is going to turn the corner for him. Here’s Kobai launching the three. Drills it from Frederickton. No jitters for that guy. Curry now spinning, shooting. Shot doesn’t go. and Andre Guadala with a rebound finds an open Curry and Curry connects. Second chance opportunities. You’ve got to find the shooters. Absolutely. Cuz you don’t want it to land in the hands of Klay Thompson or Steph Curry. Seakum spinning [Applause] [Music] right there. Four on the shot clock. Draymond Green guarding Seakum. Nice spin move. Shot doesn’t go and batted out in control by Thompson. And that’s important for Seakum to attack Green. You can’t let him rest defensively. You’ve got to get at him. Use your body. Dell and his wife Sonia. Very proud parents of Steph and Seth. Great family. Steel. Here’s Kaw’s going to take it. Hesitate. Splash. as he knocks it down from Winnipeg. Hesitated but did a great job of getting his feet set and legs into the shot. Thompson misfires lead pass. Green got it and the Raptors come out of the timeout with a 5-0 run. And that’s what you want to do. Yes, Golden State runs, but you can run on them too if you’re smart and take advantage of your opportunities. Great job by Kyle pushing up the floor. Bell up top. Here’s Draymond Green getting into the act. Well, he’s been playing well in the playoffs. Matt Steve Kerr talking about how he trusts him to make the right decision on which shots to take. Has the best plus minus in the postseason plus 148. Leonard is fouled by Iguodal. Looney checks in for Donald and a nice post up move that time by Seakum. 45th game for Marcus all as a Toronto Raptor. It’s important to remember he’s only played a half a season including the playoffs. 92 run for Toronto over the last 220 in counting. Green quickly. Here’s Curry and he can make them from anywhere. Neither team had their full rosters in either game, but it does provide, I think, a little bit of confidence. If you’re the Toronto Raptors, you come in knowing, hey, one of two teams in the Steve Curry era to sweep the Golden State Warriors during the regular season. And there’s Curry once again. [Applause] Lowry Pascal triggers a three. Got it from Regina. Fred gets it back. Two seconds. Here’s Kyle with the runner. And the Toronto Raptors lead by four. Donis Derekco in. And Demarcus Cousins is in. He got injured in game two against the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round. Jereco back over to Cousins [Applause] and Jereco shot gets his own rebound. Here’s a corner three and it’s good and second chance opportunities as Quinn Cook connects. And Quinn Cook is not shy. He knows when he comes into the game, he’s going to look for a shot. And Jericho is one of those guys going to get after every miss shot. Here’s Norman Pal attacking and a foul on Thompson. And Jereco against Portland of the Western Conference Finals. Averaged just 12 minutes. Find Van Fleet. Yeah, great job of protecting the ball, using his body, getting into Cousins, and finishing with the left. [Applause] Cousins. Double comes. Jerretco open for three. Don’t overhelp on Cousins. Here’s a guy again. You want to see what he’s got coming back from injury. You overhelp, he’s an excellent passer. That was a great look for Director Leonard. Oh, spin move. Van Flee to three. good from Quebec City. Everybody was wondering. And then three, he finished his career with the Toronto Raptors. I tell you what, I love watching Curry play and his time in Toronto. The way he shot that basketball. You talk about a sweet jump shot. Great footwork. He was amazing. Pascal Seakum. Great look down low on the block there. The double that came to Kawaii. That’s right. She moved that ball quickly. Golden State’s going to take chances. They’re going to gamble. You got to make them pay for it. Inguid Dollar gets right to the rim. The 2015 Finals MVP. He always steps up. Playoff time. Finals time. He steps up. How about the Raptors? 10 assists on 15 made field goals. Lowry deep post position. Van Vleet. Seakum. Kyle driving in the paint. Pascal daring him to shoot. And the three is good from Halifax. Don’t dare spicy Pete. Knocking it down. Pascal 10 points. Two three shooting from beyond the arc. Green quickly. Iguados steps outside met by Lowry. Thompson. Green to Looney. [Applause] Long two and Looney drains it. 235 left here in the first half. Lowry hustling his way on the inside. Seakum with Green right there. Pascal takes him in the post using his quickness. Rolls around touches every part of the rim. Raptors by seven. Curry has 13 after the two free throws. Lowry driving spinning around. Green launches Danny Green from Yellow Knife. Percentages told you tell you he was going to come back. There was no doubt about it. Checks out and chance of Danny ringing out Thompson. didn’t get it off in time. Raptors lead by 10 at the end of the first half. A 198 run by Toronto. Golden State will open up with possession of the basketball here in the second half. Raptors outstanding first half defense. Can it continue for another 24 minutes? Game one NBA Finals. Seakaman Green. Draymond Green exploding to the rim. And Gassol picks up his third. Goes after every miss shot. He’s always aggressive, always making plays. And he knows that’s what his job is. He has to do that to keep this team rolling. Green guard Seakum. Seakum now making a move in the post. Bodying up. And how about Seakum? Matty, what does he have over Green size? He’s got the length and that’s why you have to attack him. Something Portland didn’t do in their series. Pascal with 14 points. Iguodala entry pass to Thompson. Iguodala gives it now. Green pass stolen by Gassol. Great anticipation once again. High IQ basketball players at the defensive end for the Raptors. Gaul reading the play. Leonard backing in. Lowry up fake in the paint. Seakum jumper. 16 now for Spicy P. I just love the way he’s playing with aggressiveness, not hesitating. Started out a little tentative, but now going out. Oh boy. And Curry connects. Four of 11 from the field, four of seven from three. He’s got 16. Why you can never relax against this Warriors team. Thompson and Curry can light it up in a heartbeat. Leads evaporate in a hurry. Oh yeah. And nothing phases these guys. They don’t get rattled. As I mentioned against Portland, they trailed more than they left and they swept the Trailblazers for the miss. Gadala cut off. Curry wants a little bit of room and a foul’s going to be charged to Kyle Lowry. That’s going to be his second. Little knot of respect on that knockdown. Seakam hang with Curry and Curry just so quick. It’s around Pascal and gets that jumper to go. He’s got 18. I think that’s what separates him for a lot of great shooters, Matty. His ability to create his own shot. His handle is tight. He can get anywhere he wants to on the floor and as we said earlier doesn’t need a lot of room to get it off. Gaul guarded by Thompson now doubled finds Pascal and a foul is called doesn’t like it. Nice job at Goul getting up there. Put a hand up. Pascal now driving attacking finishing back up 7163. [Applause] Curry sees bodies passed stolen away. Leonard Pascal Seakum with 22 and a touch taken by Golden State. Controlled by Thompson [Applause] Curry Van Fleet and Surge right there. her line now. Pascal side step. How about his performance a game best 26 and Livingston controls it. Livingston to the cutting. Curry. Curry searching for fouls in the paint. He’ll walk it up. Raptors 8881. the length of Livingston on Kawawaii. Green sends it to McCall. Five, four, serves, drives, kicks, turns it over, and Livingston 24-25. Raptors are 20 of 23. Toronto by three. Seakum to Lowry. Kyle back up top to Van Fleet. [Applause] Van Fleet driving on Durant. What a power move by Frank Van Vleet Senior. Livingston denied by Ibaka. Oh man, you called it. That was a serious power move. Entry pass. Cousins finds Cook open. Long rebound. Lowry handles it. Lead pass. Pascal gathers. Lays it up and through. He’s got 28. Tremendous interior defense. Patty, how how big has Pascal Sakum been in the fourth quarter of games? You think back to that Milwaukee series, he made game winning plays at the defensive end? He banks it in over the shoulder to tie his playoff career high. Curry. Oh, despite pressure, two guys on him. still that little floater. The first ever NBA game ever played was in Toronto. The Huskies and the New York Nickers and counted and won. And Nick Nurser has had the flexibility to find those guys to make it work. Gasol fouls out. That is his sixth. Curry fouled by Marcus Saul. and Matty with the handle. Watch what he does. He’s going away from Gasol. He sees Gasol’s running towards him. So, he just stops, freezes, and goes up a little bit into him knowing that his momentum is going to continue. Smart move to draw the foul cuz he fit the style of Nick Nurse’s game and it complimented the players on his team. Sometimes you make deals to make deals, but the Raptors, you don’t just bring in talent. You bring in players to make each other better. 113 106 Curry with 34 after those three free throws. 14 of 14 from the line. Klay Thompson on Kawhi Leonardo. Pascal drives. That’s it up and in. Seakum. Lead pass out of bounds off of the fingertips of Alonzo McKini. 32 points for Seakum. 32 points, eight rebounds, five assists. 115 106. They’re on their feet at Scotia Bank Arena. Game one of the NBA Finals. Kyle Lowry from Edmonton to put it away. The dagger. Corner three. Good. Van Fleet into the front court. Coming into this game one, the Golden State Warriors had won 12 consecutive game ones in the postseason dating back to 2015. The Toronto Raptors take game one of the NBA Finals 118 109.
