NBA LIVE! Philadelphia 76ers vs Los Angeles Lakers | July 23, 2025 | Sixers vs Lakers | 2K25
He is not supposed to be on the same floor as me, Brian. Plenty of confidence and the talent to deliver. Ally, for sure. Thank you. Here are the five for the Lakers. Ruy Hachimura is out there with DeAndre Aiden. Then there’s LeBron James. Then it’s Luca Donuch. And it’s Reeves in a Tougar. And for the 76ers, Kelly Ubé out there with Maxi. Then it’s Joel Embiid. Then there’s Edwards. And it’s George in at the small forward. Well, Smitty, these two teams have been around the block a few times. Both rosters filled with veterans. No surprises tonight, BA. These guys have faced off on various teams so many times. They know all of their opponent’s tricks. So, Philadelphia will get the first possession. Maxi with it outside. UB pass to Embiid over Aton. Embiid can’t hit. Now Los Angeles with it to the paint. Here’s Aimura and he converts the layup. Setting an aggressive tone early, challenging the heart of that defense. George against James. George passes to Edwards and he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So, he’ll take two free throws. Well, whenever you bring up the 76ers, you instantly think of Joel Embiid. Oh, no question. He’s the face of this franchise. Embiid is as good as anyone in the league. Off the floor, Joel is willing to take the blame when things don’t go right. That’s who you want as a leader. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. He misses the free throw. You know, this Lakers team is running with one of the most veteran squads in the league. many tons of experience and wisdom on their bench. These are all battle tested guys BA who know how to overcome tough situations and win games and he sinks the second. You know, in the past several seasons, there’s been one constant with the 76ers. They’re going to be among the best defensive teams in the league. Now here’s Donic. Pass to Reeves. There’s the triple. Always a nice way to start. Makes his first one. With elite passing skills and court vision, Donic is an advanced distributor for his age. James against George. Now Embiid got it from about 16 ft. The Sixers identity really does center around their defense. It’s so true, BA. And they’ve done a great job playing to their strengths. That’s the key for any contending team. Maximize your players talents. Philly has done that as well as anybody. Here’s Reeves. Clock at six. The three. James doesn’t go and he’s 0 for one from the floor. For three, George. Donic pulls down the board. Los Angeles has gone one of two from three-point land so far. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. It’s going to go on Tyrese Maxi. And when we talk about franchise players, guys who can carry a team, Luca Donuch is one of the few guys in that category. He’s off on the first. And you look at the intangibles of Luca Donuch. He has some of the best court awareness in the league. And that shows up most with his passing and body control. And the second free throw is good. And the way Donic can feel the defenders around him speaks to his great court sense. Grant, no question. And the elite footwork he has makes the most of it. I mean, one of the best at shielding defenders with his body. It’s really how he can navigate through a defense with ease. Now, here’s Hachimura. Pass to Reeves. Here’s Aiden. Laid it in with a nice touch off the window. Yeah, when you let Aiden get the ball close, it’s over. DeAndre is just too skilled. Shoots George. No good. Missing that one helps out all the analytical guys from the mid-range. Here’s Maxi. And there’s a whistle. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. It’s on LeBron James. And the improvement of Tyrese Maxis’s three-point shot from his first season to second year just unprecedented. He improved by over 12% with a huge increase in attempts as well. Shooting two and he drops a first. And for a player with the speed and quickness of Maxi Grant, leveling up that three-point shot changes everything for him. Oh, so true, BA. It becomes pick your poison with him and it put him in a conversation last year for most improved player. That’s also good. So, he hits both free throws. I’ll tell you, he doesn’t give points away. Excellent job from the line. Pass to Reeves. Now, here is James over to the wing. Right wing. Here’s Reeves. Knocks down the triple. He has six. Fantastic decision making. Aiden electing to move it for the high percentage look now. Here’s Maxi. Back to George. The three is up. No good on the shot. And it’s the Lakers the other way. Pass to James. He shoots a three. Rebound by the 76ers. And here in the first quarter, a little over three and 1/2 minutes played. George no good. Offensively, that’s how you want to end the possession except for the result. Now, here is James. Boy, he’s been patient so far. Nothing yet on the scoreboard. A nice shot by Donic. And the strength of Donic allows him to play through contact. Surprised he didn’t get the start treatment there. No whistle. Pass to Ubé. Down low. Here’s Maxi. And that’s good. His first bucket of the game. You want to run your offense through him. A reliable scoring option. The Lakers have gotten five of seven shots to fall. And here’s James. And it’s all from three-point range. Now UB back to Maxi. Fires the three. The shot. No good. Now the Lakers take it the other the way. Donic on the wing. He’s covered by Ubé and slam dunkked by James. Rising up with force once LeBron takes flight. Just get out of his way. Pass to Ubé. Rebound the Lakers. Donic with it. Oh, there’s the alley. and Aton with the stuff. And early on, they’ve been on a tear just getting whatever they want offensively. They established the pace. They made shots. This is why they’re way out in front. Now a timeout called by Philadelphia. Yeah. Hoping to tap into something that’ll get them clicking. Yeah, these guys need to work together as a team, as a unit. Try and carve out some easy buckets. Heat. Heat. There you go. Lakers on D. 10-point lead. outside. UB George outside. Shot clock at five. Some solid defense from James. Something’s off about him this quarter. And it also shows you how difficult this game is. He’s just a little bit off, but it can result in missing everything. sinks the tray. They’ve been very effective so far. A balanced attack at its best and it’s helped them build an early lead. They just need to stay aggressive. Now here’s Maxi. George passes to Embiid and he makes it. Embiid’s got his second basket. And there’s the process at work. Embiid rolls off the pick and right into scoring position. Pass to Aimura. Donic with it. Maxi covering. Here’s Reeves. Here’s Aiden. And the shot counts. He’s fouled. And it’s a chance for a three-point play. And a closer look here at the scoreing breakdown for the Lakers. Right now it’s their passing game and it’s been on point doing a great job of moving it around and getting the ball to their shooters and on top of that they’ve been dialed in from deep and if they keep it up it could be a big night for him. And just one of the most impressive titles in league history, guys. The 2020 Lakers winning it all in the Orlando bubble. A testament to LeBron James and that team. Guarded by Donic. George outside from the ark. Rebound the Lakers. Aimura’s got four rebounds now. You know that 2020 bubble title for the Lakers. What made it so difficult? You know, BA, the mental grind of all that time in the bubble, 3 months in the same place. NBA players are used to being in four cities in a week. So, it really was a different kind of challenge for them. The offensive game plan is clear. Get it inside and go to work. This is my type of approach. Get some high percentage looks, then later you can play inside out. Now here’s Edwards. Pass to Drummond. George for three. Dantic pulls down the board. Los Angeles has gone three of six shooting from beyond the arc. Reeves and the Lakers get it back. And so he draws the foul. Headed to the line to shoot a pair. Two, two. Free throw good. Aimura Walker. He’s checked in for Philadelphia. Vanderbilt’s checked in for the Lakers. Smart comes in for Reeves. And he makes the first, but misses the second. Over the years, no team in the NBA has had more star power than the Lakers. They always have at least one future Hall of Famer on the roster. Aimura against George. Here’s Aimura. Here’s Aiden. That shot no good. Good work defensively by Drummond. Smart with the defensive effort. You know, when we talk about the Lakers, you expect them to have a superstar. BA starting with Wilt in the 60s, then Kareem during the 70s, Magic dominating the 80s and more recently Shaq and Kobe, LeBron and AD, the biggest names flock to LA. And that streaking rack attack is the mobile one drive. I love it. making their own luck. You don’t want to let off the gas with the lead. Continue to make things happen. And Philadelphia calls time here. Coach definitely wants to talk about their interior defense, which has not been impressive. It’s a matter of want to helping out contesting shots. You have to want to make the effort. Heat. Heat. The Lakers on D. 19-point game. Pass to George now. Drummond. George outside. Six on the shot clock. Tries to snap the cold streak and the jam by Drummond. Andre Drummond using his size and athleticism to create a scoring opportunity off the miss outside. Vanderbilt pass to Smart. Donic with it. Donic is doubled. Smart for three. First shot won’t go. The 76ers shooting pretty low at 24% in this first quarter, guarded by Donic. And Luca Donuch is going to pick up the foul. That’s his first foul of the game. Get open. Get open. Inside. Here’s Walker. And the jam by Walker. And for those who criticize Drummond facilitating, I say rewatch that play. He’s improving now. Aimura. He’s got five. And there’s the lob. Oh, and the jam by Aton. Excellent timing by Aton on the alley pass. He’s perfectly positioned to throw it down. A minute six left in the first. Just five to shoot. Oh, plenty of contact on that shot. Officials call the foul and he’ll take two free throws now. Everyone in the building saw the obvious contact. Shooting two. And he makes a first. Vincent checked in for Donic. Both shots good from the strike. They put together a solid lead and it doesn’t seem like they’re going to back off. Here’s Aimura. That’s his third basket and five shots. Solid work. And this is what you want to do when you’ve got a big lead. You must stay aggressive. I’m impressed with their intensity tonight. They’ve came in focused and they’ve executed. Now here’s George still getting warmed up offensively. No buckets yet in the game from him. Six to shoot. Late clock. The Sixers need to put one up here. Walker shot is off. Here’s Smart. Here’s Aiden. And there’s two. Work on the glass. Paying off that time. Aiden’s got 13. I mean, come on. A seven-footer with a 75 wingspan. Aiden beats everyone to the ball and converts easily. George’s shot is off. Domination in the first quarter. It’s been pretty lopsided. Lakers ahead up 19. And the second quarter is on its way when we return. And if you’re just tuning in, we’ve got a wide margin on the scoreboard, but plenty of time left for a comeback, guys. The Lakers enjoying a nice lead here. Well, I think it’s pretty obvious they were well prepared defensively coming in. Yes. That’s what they do. They take away the things that teams like to do offensively. Also keeping them out of sync. Grant, we always talk about great footwork for post players, but how about perimeter players? You know, I’m glad you brought that up, BA. Great perimeter players have elite footwork. The footwork helps to create the opportunity to score, whether that’s shooting a three off the dribble or even in the post up. great elite, fantastic, iconic guards who could do it all, have superior footwork. Believe that. And the Lakers, looking at who they’ve got, we’ve got Gabe Vincent, Jared Vanderbilt out there with Ruachimura. Then there’s LeBron James, and it’s Reeves in at the two spot. Here’s Edwards and he got the whistle on the way up. So, he’ll be headed to the line for a pair. And even from where we’re sitting, you could clearly tell it was a foul. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. No good on the free throw. He hits the second from the line. And for the Lakers, they’re shooting at around 60% on this one. Very efficient. Pass to Vincent to the inside. Reeves. And there’s the slam dunk to finish it off. And it hasn’t just been their stellar offense. Their defense has been effective as well. Yes. When it’s going good, it feels easy. These are the nights you relish, but they’re tough to replicate. Come on. Come on. Aimura with the ball picked up by Embiid. James right side to the middle. Here’s Reeves. The shots good on the assist by James. He’s got 12. Well, you know, it’s already tough to play like this at home, but it’s even tougher to do so on the road. They built up this huge league with great play at both ends. They’re going to love watching film tomorrow. hits the trifecta. Easy look when the defender isn’t fighting over the screen. Reason why it takes extra energy to do it. You have to trust your defensive rotations, but it’s worth it. Now here’s Hachimura. He has seven. Edwards pulls it in for Philadelphia. They’ve gone just one of three to begin the second quarter. Aimura against Maxi to the paint. Here’s Embiid. And Embiid throws it down. It’s all about getting ideal positioning. Once Embiid gets it, the D is toast. And last season’s scoring champion, Joel Embiid, the first center to lead the league in scoring since Big Shack way back in the 2000 season. They’re punishing those late defensive rotations, getting good looks inside throughout the half. And Philadelphia calls time here. And Joel Embiid last season the first center to average over 30 a game since Moses Malone did it back in 1982. Grant Oh, BA. Talk about historic company. And how about this? Also the first ever international player to lead the NBA in scoring, too. I mean, he won’t be the last with the way things are. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Donic has checked in for the Lakers. And we’re now a little over two and a half minutes into the second. Check by James. Rebounded by the Lakers. The biggest lead of the game was 24 points from 13 and he gets the jumper to drop. Donic has got five. It’s empowering to play with LeBron because if you get open, he will find you. Maxi passes to Embiid. Back to Maxi. Yes. And it’s Embiid picking up the assist. Maxi’s gotten his second bucket. You can’t discount Embiid’s value as a passer. That vision and court awareness. These are traits a team loves to have in a big man. And that replay showed how sensational that drive truly was. You’re toasting the defense and getting in close. They’ll take possessions like that one all day. Donic with the bucket. That’s nice work stopping short of the rim. Just laying it over the top. It’s Edwards on the wing. Takes the three. Rebound the Lakers. Hachimura’s got rebound number eight here already in the game. Donic finds James. And here’s Achimura. He’s covered by Ubé. And it’s Achimura missing. Philadelphia has gone one of two from deep in the second quarter. Edwards. A pass to Maxi. Pass to Embiid. Back to Maxi. Down to five on the shot clock. And the 76ers get it back. And there it is for him. Embiid’s got four points now in the quarter. A sequence you might expect from Embiid, an elite rebounder, and the man knows how to finish. All right, let’s check in with Alli Leforce. Thanks a lot, Brian. Well, Luca Donuch, an all-star from his second season, and every year he’s one of the favorites for MVP, but Luca says, quote, “I still haven’t won anything, so I’ve got a long way to go.” Brian, if you didn’t catch it, team success is the metric. He says the key is to win a championship. Well, he certainly gives him a chance to do just that. Ally, thank you. Outside Maxi. Pass to UB. It’s stolen by Donic. Outside Vanderbilt. Here’s Aimura. And he drains it. That basket makes him four for nine. Like a matador. Olay. There was no defense. That has to be one of the easier shots I’ve seen tonight. And this is what happens when you start to break your opponent’s spirit. The resistance is no longer there. Maxi finds Edwards. Embiid inside. Guarded by Vanderbilt. No good with the triple. The shooter thought he had enough space, but the defender was right on him. The ability to close out on perimeter shooters is so important in today’s game, man. Good whistle there. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. And he knocks down the first one. And the Lakers with some changes. DeAndre Aiden comes in for Achimura and Goodwin is subbed in for LeBron. And that’s good as he hits both shots. The Lakers have gotten seven of 12 shots to go here in the second. Pass to Reeves. Here’s Goodwin. Here’s Reeves. 12 points for him. Here’s Aton. And he drops in the layup off the glass. Eightton’s got 15 points. And this is how dynamic Aiden can be on the offensive end. Keep getting him the ball, please. Pass to Ubé. Here’s Embiid. He’s covered by Aiden. And Aiden pulls it down. Eightton’s got nine rebounds in the game. Boy, he’s getting it done. Here’s Reeves. Here’s Goodwin coming for three. Here’s Vanderbilt. And a foul called on the way up. So he’ll take two from the free throw line. Man, he made sure to get his money’s worth on that foul. two. That one’s off. The Lakers making a switch here. Smarts checked in. and he’s good on the second. Philadelphia has gone one of four from three-point land here in the second. Back to Maxi. pull the trigger. Takes it inside to the left wing. Vanderbilt pulls it in. Los Angeles has gone 0 for two from outside in the second quarter. Shot is good by Goodwin. Such confidence as a passer. He hits guys in stride. It makes it look easy. They’ve been having major problems offensively. Definitely in a bit of a dry spell. Back to Maxi. Launches a three. Vanderbilt pulls it in. Vanderbilt’s got a rebound number five here tonight. And Aon with the stop. And how sweet was that play? Pinpoint pass. Set up the alley flush. Now here’s Maxi. Give him eight points now. George finds Embiid. Shot clock at six. Here’s Maxi. Sinks his third bucket. He’s three for six now. Beautiful call that time up the floor. The hard screen frees him up for the bunny. Pass to Smart. and he’ll draw the foul. He’ll head to the line for two. It’s going to go on Paul George. Two shots. Relax on the first. That free throw no good. And the 76ers making a change here. Walker’s checked in. good on the second one. Philadelphia has gone just one of six from the perimeter here in the second. Pass to George. Shoots over Aton. It’s not going to go for him. So the Lakers will take it the other way. nails the baby hook. Eightton’s got 19 points. Grown man strength right there. Aiden just pushing through contact and getting it done. And when Aidton isn’t playing basketball, either the live or video game version, he’s often drawing. Yeah. I mean, he grew up wanting to be an architect. I actually hear that he loves blueprints, but probably his most famous sketch himself dunking on Joel Embiid his rookie year. Donic outside to the wing. Here’s Goodwin. Pass to Vanderbilt. Three on the clock and Donic puts up a deep three. Can’t drop the tough three-pointer. George outside now. Drummond is covered by Aiden. Drummond passes to George. George with another miss. In this first half, he has really fallen in love with the three. So far not paying dividends. And it’s Smart missing. And the 76ers shooting a low 28% so far in this one. Now here’s Maxi. Defense right on him. Here’s Drummond. And that one’s good with extra effort on the glass. That’s the right play to run. Drummond with the skill and size to make that high percentage attempt. Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him coming up. Two shots. First free throw is good. Vincent’s checked in for Donic. and he makes both free throws. And for Philadelphia, they’re shooting 35% on the second so far. Maxi finds George. Now here’s Drummond. Vanderb pulls it in. Empty possession. And you don’t want to miss these easy looks. Back to Drummond and almost gets it to go. So he’ll shoot two here. The massive size of drumming coming into play. Tough to guard without fouling. shooting two. First one falls for him. Andre Drummond’s games has to improve at the free throw line if he wants to be a go-to player. James has checked in for Los Angeles. And he can’t hit the second. Los Angeles has gone 0 for three from deep to begin the second. Vanderbilt the pass to James. free throw line jumper. That one is off. And so it’s Los Angeles already up 26 points as this quarter ends. They’re communicating well and stringing together stops. All right, now let’s check in with Alli the Force. Ally, what do you have? Standers. I’m here with Nick Nurse and coach, I saw you imploring your team to pick it up. Where do you need to be better in the second half? Well, we’re not very good uh offensively right now. I think we’re taking some okay shots, but we got to be a little bit more patient and keep moving it around a little bit. Need multiple paint touches rather than just one. So, we just got to do a little bit better job of getting off it and relocating a little bit. Patience is a virtue. Thank you, coach. Thanks very much, Ally. And folks, we’ll be right back to start the second half of this game, the 2K Sports Halftime Show. Hello again folks. Ernie Johnson here with Kenny the Jet Smith and Shaquille O’Neal. It’s the NBA on 2K Sports and let’s talk the first half. A tremendous start for DeAndre Aton. He ended up with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and one assist. And let’s get your thoughts, Kenny, on the Lakers. Well, they were completely in rhythm shooting the basketball. Just watching the flow of their offense, everything clicked into place. Fantastic shot selection. They took advantage of everything the defense gave them. And over to Shaq. What did you think about Philadelphia? It’s their defense that’s put them in this spot, giving up easy looks all over the place. It’s like they don’t have even a game plan in place. Check out the field goal percentage that they’ve allowed. Oh, that’s not going to cut it, Ernie. I don’t even want to talk about it no more. And that’s a wrap. With the third quarter approaching, we now send you back to Kevin and the crew. And there wasn’t too much drama in the first half, but maybe things will tighten up here in the second. We’re seeing a tremendous game from DeAndre Aiden. And given that he’s just delivered a double double through two quarters, I’m excited to see his stats at the end of the night. They’re asking a lot of him shouldering the load in a number of areas. You just hope he has enough left at the end. Just about ready for the second half. Pier. A big comeback is needed for this game to be competitive and it probably has to happen quickly. Andre Drummond is out there with Kelly Ubé. Then there’s Edwards. Then it’s Joel Embiid and it’s George in at the three spot. That’s the group in the game for the 76ers. Here’s Edwards. Gets to the rim for two with the D all over him. And let’s take another look at that exceptional drive thanks to Mobile One. Yeah, he has that fight in him. Love the aggression at the rim when they are trying to claw back into the game. Pass to Donic. Aimura against Edwards. Aton and Embiid with the block. A menace on the defensive end. Embiid’s reach disrupts your offense. And Edwards slams it in. A little undersized at the four, but he can get off the ground. Pass to Reeves. Now James. That one’s wide left. The defense was begging him to take that shot and he took the bait, but you can’t blame him. Here’s George. Takes a three. Oh, insane. Oh, way out there in the Raptors. Beautiful. The Lakers have gone 0 for four. Not the way they want to start the second half. Pass to Reeves. Out to James. Puts it up. Philadelphia grabs the miss. Embiid’s got six rebounds here tonight. George for three. At some point when you recognize someone’s this out of rhythm, you have to shift to something else. James up top. George defending. James passes to Aimura. Pass to Aiden. It goes. He’s 10 for 13. So much confidence. So impressed with that bucket by Aiden. Fantastic body control from the big man. And here’s George beyond the arc. They get the rebound. Embiid can’t hit for Los Angeles. They’ve gone only one for six here in the second half. Shots good by James. When he gets touches inside, LeBron is impossible to stop. Boy, they’d love if anyone could get a bucket. Yeah, their offense has been grinding to a hole. Up top, Ubé. That one’s in there. Drummond with the assist. UB’s got his first two points of the night. Pass to Reeves. Now Aiden and Joel Embiid pulls it down. Embiid’s got eight rebounds in the game. Here’s Ubé. So, it’ll be two free throws. He was fouled in the active shooting. Two shots. That free throw no good. and he ends up missing both free throws for Los Angeles. They’ve gotten just 25% of their shots to fall since the half. Two for eight. He just rises up and throws it down hard with one hand. That is such a go-to move for him. He holds nothing back on those. George outside. Pass to Ubé. Fires the three and they get it back. Wow. Another opportunity. Just everything going their way. Pretty much the story of this game. Here’s Reeves off target from outside for Philadelphia. They’ve gotten only four of 10 shots to fall so far in the third. UB passes to Edwards. Now here’s George. Checked by James. James against George inside. And here’s Ubé from the arc. Donic grabs the miss. Donic has got five rebounds in the game. Out of bounds. It’ll be Sixers ball. And you look at the career that LeBron has put together. One of the all-time greats. Amazingly lived up to the hype he had coming out of high school. A remarkable defensive play. The replay showing once again the tenacity on that end. Now that was a block. Some much needed energy there to jump start them back into this game. George outside. Pass to Embiid. Oh, excellent D there from Aiden. And the immense pressure LeBron has had since day one of the NBA. Many others would have folded, Grant. Yeah, very true, BA. The expectations he had were just insane. Anything less than a top five player all time would be a disappointment. That’s not fair to ask of any player coming into league, much less a high schooler. Beautiful call that time up the floor. The hard screen frees him up for the bunny. And a look at how the offensive approach has been going so far for the Lakers. They are dominating the paint in this one. Consistent work inside throughout the game. And also, I just love how they’ve been moving the ball side to side on the perimeter. Great passing unlocking their offensive potential. That’s good from Donic. Here’s Ubé. They need something good to happen here. Yeah, they’ve gone way too long without a score and wrestling for it there. But no one has possession. We’ll have a jump ball. And so it’s the Lakers with it. Los Angeles has gone 0 for two from outside here in the third. Pass to Reeves. Hayden with it. Embiid covers. Just five on the clock. Donic. Soft touch off the glass. Donic has got 12 points. Fearless play by Donic in the paint ready to do whatever it takes to find his shot. And so here is Philadelphia. And here’s George. Well, he hasn’t put up any points yet in this one to stop the run. That one a little long. And the Lakers have possession. James against George. James passes to Aimura. And he’s going to the line for two. The official saw contact while he was going up. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. Free throw good. Aimura Tyrese Maxis checked in for George. Goodwin’s checked in for Los Angeles. And both free throws good for Aimura. And for the 76ers, they’re shooting about 31% here in quarter number three. Now here’s Ubé. Defense is right there. Check by James. And Embiid throws it down and that’s a double double for Hip. Now strong performance from him, but he may need to do even more if they’re going to win this game. Here’s James. And again, no good by the Lakers. Decent look from mid-range, but there may have been a better option for them in that set. Very surprising. He gets the ball where he wants it and a decent matchup. Three-pointer no good. Why does he think that’s a good shot? Coach does not want him out there taking threes. Embiid. And Aiden pulls it down. Now Los Angeles with it. They’re on a 13-4 run and it’s slammed in by AI Mura. Woo! putting on a show for the fans. Going up with a graceful reverse. Oh, that had a little extra sauce on it, Grant. Now, here’s Maxi. 10 points for him. Six on the shot clock. Pulls up at the elbow. Misses off the right iron. I know he’s on a cold streak, but he can’t let that get in his head. And his rhythm is been way off. The goal now might be to get him something easy at the rim so he can just see the ball go in through the net and that helps. The Lakers making a switch here. Smarts checked in. Let’s go. Embiid with it. And he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So he’ll take two free throws. It’s going to be on DeAndre Hatton. He can be such a physical force. It’s so hard to keep Embiid from getting to the free throw line. Two. The free throw drops for Embiid. A fun-loving player on and off the court. Embiid continues to get better. One of the league’s top big men. Vanderbilts checked in for Los Angeles. Vincent comes in for James. That one falls. So he hits both of them. Los Angeles has got nothing to fall from outside in this third quarter. Pass to Vincent. And here’s Smart Walker covering. Here’s Vincent. It doesn’t go for him. Impid with a nice defensive effort. Tremendous defensive effort saving a bucket right there. You know what? This is why you never give up on a play. You don’t know what’s going to happen. Pass to Benson. Vanderbilt with it. Here’s Smart. Walker covering. Smart against Walker. And so the ball out of bounds. Smart tucks it last. Here’s Philadelphia. Pass to Maxi and Clay stops. A whistle there on what looks like an illegal screen. The screener was leaning a bit right there. His feet may not have been planted. Pretty obvious call by the officials. So difficult to stay planted, especially with all the motion around you. Annoying turnover. Here’s Vincent. Here’s Goodwin. Pass to Smart. Clock at six from the line. The shot that time not on target. And Philadelphia the other way now down low. And there’s Imbiid. That one’s good. And the assist by Walker. Imbi’s got eight points in the quarter. Here’s Vincent. Here’s Goodwin. And they call an illegal screen here. Andre Drummond has checked in for Philadelphia. This Sixer squad is struggling. That’s tipped. Here’s Vincent Maxi covering. Smart. Another miss. They desperately need a bucket. The 76ers shooting a low 31%. Their offense is lacking. We’ve got a minute 48 left in the third. MB gets the bucket. It’s been a blowout thus far, but they’re trying to get back into the game. Pass to Goodwin. Rebound by the 76ers. As usual, he’s laser focused on defense. That’s a nice shot contest. And this is where you would prefer to work the ball to someone else for just a better look. Walker passes to Maxi. The put back. Oh, he hangs in there and cashes in on the second chance points. Drummond’s got four points now in the quarter. They’re improving but still find themselves behind. Very nice stretch from them. But the reason why they are not into this game, they have to get some stops. Outside Walker and there’s the call. It’s going to be an illegal screen. Well, the league has put an emphasis to crack down on illegal screens. Yes, the last few years the rules changes have tended to benefit the offenses. This evens things out a bit. The Lakers making a switch here. Aiden’s checked in. Now here’s Smart. Pass to Aimura. Now Aiden and it’s blocked. He keeps control of the ball. We’ve got a 9second difference between the shot clock and game clock. And the jam by Walker. Oh man. Exploding to the rim. Yep. Makes the simple play. Smart outside. 17 seconds left in the third quarter. Pulls it and the 76ers get it back. And he’s doing things on the glass tonight that we don’t often see. It’s incredible. And I’ll tell you what, it’s a joy to watch. There’s more to his game than threes and dunks. And so it’s Los Angeles. They’re feeling great. A 21-point lead and their defense has stood out, wreaking havoc for the opposition. More NBA on 2K Sports right after this. All right, let’s take a look at our assist of the game presented by State Farm. And I’ll tell you what, this was a nobrainer tonight. Take a look at the precision on this feed. Couldn’t place it any better. This is why you preach team work. Some of the most spectacular plays are the ones where guys are feeding off one another. And one quarter to go in a game that to this point has not been an evenly fought contest. On the court for the Lakers, DeAndre Aiden is out there with Rui Aimura. Then it’s Luca Donuch. Then there’s LeBron James. And it’s Reeves in at the two outside. UB offensive board. Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him coming up. And the moment MB gets the ball anywhere near the hoop, it’s over. Too strong to stop without fouling. two. The free throw drops for Embiid. And the 76ers making a change here. Edwards has checked in. And Embiid drops them both. The Lakers shooting the rock well at 46%. Pass to Reeves and there’s James from the ark. The rebound by Embiid. He’s been tremendous at corelling misses all night long. He has led this team in rebounding and also taking on the role of enforcer and he loves it up top. You love Aiden’s energy on offense. He relishes every chance he gets to put up points for his team. That was another look at our Mobile One drive of the game just a moment ago. And this is exactly what you love to see. Up big, not letting up. Keep on applying pressure to their defense. Out to the right wing. Here’s Embiid and he can’t get that one. Excellent D there from Aiden. Donic against Maxi. Donic passes to James. The three-pointer off the mark. The 76ers have gone 0 for three in this fourth. Not good. George outside to the inside and the basket by Embiid. Embiid’s got 14 points here in the second half. You know, Embiid loves to produce like this and you can tell it’s firing up the team as well. Pass to Reeves. Aiden with it. James outside and here’s Donic. Five on the clock over Maxi and it’s Donic missing. The 76ers have gone one of four since the fourth quarter began. with two hands on the rock. He powers it through. Totally in control, protecting the ball the whole way. James finds Aton. Here’s Reeves. And there’s James from the ark. And again, no good. Good by the Lakers. Edwards against Achimura. Oh, a clear foul there on the missed shot. So, he’ll get a pair at the line. Man, the defender really went after him. Two shots and less on the first. The first one falls. And both free throws good for Edwards. Los Angeles has gone 0 for three here in the fourth. Donic passes to James. Here’s Aiden. That falls. Nice feed that time from James. James has got four assists now tonight. Absolutely ruthless. He’s not about to start showing mercy now. Expanding upon this lead, trying to close it out. He’s really stepped up. Here’s George. The Sixers with another miss. The Lakers have gotten only two of six attempts to drop in the fourth. Here’s Donic. And even after two offensive rebounds, they just can’t take the lid off. Down low. Here’s Edwards. The Lakers with a rebound. James has got his fourth rebound in this one. Pass to Donic. And Donic with the jam. That’s what happens when you let Donic get this close. Using his vertical to perfection. James against George. Back to Ubé. The Lakers with a rebound. Donic has got nine rebounds now. Pass to Reeves. Back to Aimura. That one drops for him. Man, he’s been on point. Not forcing things, getting the most of his looks within the flow. Boy, they need something to go to regain some confidence. No question. Way too many empty possessions for them. Donic against Maxi. shot to end the cold streak. It’s stolen by Donic. Aimura outside. Some solid defense from Edwards. Here’s Maxi and he lays it up and in. an aggressive move to a strong finish. He is just unwilling to settle. He gets right to the rim and makes sure they come away with points. And they’ll get another chance. Wow. Another opportunity. Just everything going their way. Pretty much the story of this game. Here’s James and the layup is good off the glass and the Lakers lead by 21. As soon as you give him any room whatsoever, he is always looking to attack and make you pay. Timeout called the 76ers. No one can make headlines like LeBron. There was a ton of buzz when he talked about teaming up with his son in the NBA someday. on defense. The Lakers back to Maxi. Ball coming. Ball coming. Pass to Embiid. Come on, shoot. James with the rebound. James has got five rebounds tonight. You know, whether it happens or not, I think everyone would like to see LeBron and his son play together. Smitty BA, I think it would be one of the coolest things to take place in the league. We’ve seen it in other sports, but for it to happen in the NBA, it would be awesome. They get it back. They shoot again. Edwards can’t hit. It seems like every miss ends up in his hands. He’s been unreal. And we have to give him props. It’s rare these days to see someone dominate the glass so singlehandedly. Back to James. Hey, puts up a three. It’s rebounded by George. He clearly wants to try and close this game out strong, but your deep range isn’t there. You just can’t keep forcing it. tries to break his ice. No good at the rim. He did the work to get inside, but still you have to finish. Drops in the three. And he’s not taking it easy on them at all. I mean, we all know he’s going to keep pouring it on. I mean, defensively, if you have any hope of coming back in this game, you can’t afford to give him those looks. Well, the league has put an emphasis to crack down on illegal screens. Yes, the last few years the rules changes have tended to benefit the offenses. This evens things out a bit. Donic into the lane and he gets the bucket. Donic has got nine points now in the second half. The strength and power of Donic shows up every game. Very physical for his position. Pass to Embiid. Oh, no good. Unable to end this run. Los Angeles has gone just one of six from downtown in this final quarter. It’s deflected. George outside. Now here’s Ubé from deep and Aiden pulls it down. Aimura in the post guarded by Edwards and the basket by Achimura. That’s good planning and that’s good execution and that’s a great look. Offensively, it’s been a struggle for him. Yeah, they need to string together some shots to have any kind of chance. Back to Maxi. Six to shoot. Donic pulls down the board. Donic has got doubledigit rebounds now in the game and Donic hammers it home. Even with the score as it is, he just keeps coming at you. George outside pass to Ubé. Here’s Maxi. And here’s George. James with the block. Merciless swap by LeBron. There are no easy looks when King James is on you. Okay, it appears an injury out on the floor and that does not look good. Oh man, I hate this. And we see it all too often. Injuries such a big part of this game. Well, the explosive moments, the quick change of direction, a lot of stress put on the body. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. And the 76ers will have a different look here. Here’s Goodwin. And let’s face it, they won’t get back in the game with fouls like that. Hayes has checked in for DeAndre Aton. So, it’s the Lakers now. Guarded by Edwards. Shot clock at six. Goodwin no good. He looked just a little out of rhythm. And he’s still trying to establish consistency from there. Outside Edwards to the paint. Pass to Gordon. Tipped. They retain possession and they get it back. Offensive rebound. the other team just looks more in sync and is riding the momentum. You know what? This has always been a debate. Do you take the time out or do you let your guys try to fight through it? Now, here’s Hayes. Good. Good. Defended by Gordon. No good there. And it’s Philadelphia the other way. And let’s face it, this one was never really in question. They came out with purpose and just overwhelmed the opposition. A great win for the Lakers and everything seemed to go their way today. They were firing on all cylinders. Grant. Yeah, BA. This was the kind of performance you relish as a player. Just a very impressive win. And no question this was a team effort. But you have to love how big a night this was for DeAndre Aton. Anytime they needed a bucket, they’d put the ball in his hands and say, “Go make a play.” It was impressive to watch to the middle. Nice assist and nice finish. Solid play all the way around. Yeah, they blocked out the noise, blocked out the distractions, kept on grinding, and this is their reward. And guess what? It’s going to be a fun flight home. Total team effort. Big win on the road. Watford gets the bucket. Smart play making by Kyle. Moving the ball to a guy with a good look past a good one. Pulls up and it’s Philadelphia with the rebound. Gordon on the wing and the 76ers. Another three. Attacking the defense with the pass. Don’t need to be a hero. Here’s Goodwin. So, we see the Lakers taking the W here. Boy, this crowd has to be shocked by the way their team was dismantled. Now, shocked and surprised. It doesn’t matter what the matchup is. You never expect a road team to just waltz in and cruise to the type of victory like we saw tonight. Well, now we have some time to check in with Ally Leforce. Ally, LeBron, that was an impressive win. What did it take to get it done tonight? It’s a really good team that we’re playing. They’re very resilient just like us. They play together. They play hard. They play tough. So, we had to bring that fight tonight. You brought it. It paid off. Congrats. All right, Ally. Good stuff there. Thanks for that. And that’ll wrap it up, folks, for Grant Hill. Alli Leforce and Steve Smith. I’m Brian Anderson. Thanks for joining us tonight. We’ll see you next time.
