NBA LIVE! Golden State Warriors vs Detroit Pistons | July 25, 2025 | Warriors vs Pistons | 2K25
at the one and the two. Duran out there with Tobias Harris and it’s Thompson in at the small forward position. Well, when we look at tonight, this could come down to the back courts, Grant. They’re both very talented. Yeah, BA, you know, I love great guard play. And of course, each team has some serious skills at that position, so expect a fast pace of play, lots of threes. It should be one heck of a matchup. The Pistons clear it to the paint. Deflected. Known for being a strong defender, Butler takes pride in blocking shots. Outside Green. He’s off on that one. Nice D from Thompson. Now here’s Harris. Tight defense on him. Pass to Cunningham. Clock at six. Missed inside. Here’s Curry. He’s watched by Cunningham. And there’s the drive. Green for three. Can’t hit it. He’s 0 for two now. Pass to Ivy. Thompson outside. Back to Cunningham. Yes. And a nice assist from Thompson for Kade consistently knocking down threes. It’ll open up the rest of the court. Trying to find a spark here. Yes, indeed. A rough stretch offensively. They could really use a basket. And here’s Curry for three. Hits the three-pointer. It will be a rare night that you’re going to outdo Stephen Curry in a game of matching threes. Thompson outside to the left wing from the top of the key. Duran offensive board. Here’s Harris. Oh, just couldn’t take the lid off. They had their chances. Came up empty on the wing. Curry inside. And that misses. That would have put him up. The Pistons have gone only one of six so far. Golden State has gone one of two from three-point land. So far, the Pistons have been in rebuild mode for a while. They’ve stockpiled a lot of young talent. This is when things should start to come together. Ivy’s shot is off. And so it’s Golden State with it. to the middle. Here’s Harris and it goes as the official calls the foul. Count it and he’ll shoot one more at the line. So Smitty, you think the Pistons are ready to become the bad boys of the league again? Ba, they’re not really that kind of team. They’re built more around offensive firepower, not the defense and rebounding. That was their trademark in the old days. And Harris no good on that one. Slowly but surely, Harris continues to elevate his game. The shooting, the playmaking, the ability to make a difference. Here’s Green. Count it. And that shot gets him in the books. He’s one for three. Detroit shooting just 22% in the early stages of this one. Thompson outside to the right side. Here’s Duran and the layup falls. The defense getting out hustled on the putback. Can’t let that happen. For some reason, blocking out has become a lost art. And that’s the result you’ll get. The shot off that time. The Pistons leading down low. Here’s Ivy. Lays it up and banks it in. Pounding it inside early and often, setting a physical tone. Cunningham against Curry and he’ll draw the foul. He’ll head to the line for two. That one on Harris. Over the course of his career, Jimmy Butler’s made strides in a lot of areas. He’s really matured as a playmaker in the past several seasons. Super two. First free throw is good. Well, Smitty, we’ve seen an uptick in Butler’s assists since he moved on from the 76ers. Yeah, we’re not going to start calling him Jimmy Dimes. We know passing has played a big part of his game. He trusts his teammate. He doesn’t feel the need to always take over, but Jimmy is definitely a score. And that’s good as he hits both shots. He’s not like a lot of superstars. Jimmy Butler will call you out if you’re on his team. All he wants to do is win. Pass to Ivy. Here’s Duran. He can’t get that one to fall. Now here’s Curry. He’s watched by Cunningham. Back to Curry over Cunningham. And it’s Harris with the rebound. And that’s okay. Even though you miss, you had the right guy taking the shot. the put back. Woo! Hard work creating the second chance opportunity. The Warriors trailing. Here’s Curry and he drops it in from the low post. Curry’s got five points. He is at a different level when you start talking about handling the basketball. One of the best to ever do it. Fantastic replay we just saw of the mobile one drive. And I love the way he played downhill on that drive. Love the attack mentality in a close game. Now here’s Cunningham. Here’s Ivy. releases and he can’t connect. He’s one for three in this game. Defended by Thompson outside Curry from downtown. Rebounded by the Pistons. Thompson’s got four rebounds in the game. Pass to Harris and he got the whistle on the way up. So he’ll be headed to the line for a pair. It’s going to go on Draymond Green. With a nice combination of strength and elusiveness, Harris makes things difficult for the defenders inside. And a moment here to take a look at the scoring breakdown for the Pistons. For me, they made a point point to attack inside early in the game and it’s paid off for them. A lot of solid looks in the paint. They’ve also been quick to set up their teammates, wasting no time making the extra pass for the open look. and Harris drops them both. Golden State has gone one for five from three-point range. A cold start and out of bounds. Detroit will have it. Just a superb read on defense to come up with a block. And this is exactly why he’s out here. In order to block shots in tight games like this. Reeds checked in for Harris. The Warriors also with a sub. Heels checked in. And for the Pistons, they’re shooting only 31% to get this game underway. Thompson against Heel. Goes back up and Thompson with a layin. Good execution. They’re getting some short range looks here. Outside heel. Cunningham against Curry. Pass to Moody. launches it. Nice start for him. Sinking his first shot. Keeping his head up at all times. Curry sees his teammate break free to the wing on the left. Here’s Ivy. Shot clock at six. The Pistons need to get one up quick. Here’s Thompson. The Pistons rebound over healed. They get the rebound. Duran with the bucket. Duran’s got six. At the end of the day, when the ball goes up, there’s no substitute for effort. Curry again. It’s Cunningham. No good from 11 ft. Detroit with the ball leading by five. Pass to Thompson. Here’s Ivy. Back to Thompson. Launches a three. The rebound by Moody. Something’s off about him this quarter. And it also shows you how difficult this game is. He’s just a little bit off, but it can result in missing everything. Now here’s Cunningham. Three-pointer. Here’s Duran and it falls for him. He’s now four of seven from the field. Salvage the possession. He’s a terrific offensive rebounder. Heel finds Curry. Here’s Moody. Back to Curry from behind the ark. No good on the shot and it’s Detroit the other way. Thompson outside. Kicks it out to Cunningham. Misses the layup. The Warriors shooting just 25% from the field in the first quarter. Pass to Curry over Ivy and Cunningham pulls it down. Offensively, that’s how you want to end the possession except for the result. Oh, the teardrop falls in. Cunningham’s got five points. I love the skill level of K Cunningham. He has every shot in the book. outside Curry and it’s out of bounds. Last touch by Curry. We’ve got a minute 48 left in the first. Curry against Cunningham. Heel comes with a double. Cunningham passes to Robinson. Woo. That’s just a case of bad defense and even worse offense. Stewart defends the kick out. Curry down to five on the shot clock. A shot to stop the dr. The shot won’t fall and Detroit will go the other way with it. Here’s Cunningham. So, it’ll be two free throws. He was fouled in the act of shooting. Well, the number one overall pick in 2021, Cade Cunningham ended up third in the Rookie of the Year voting, but nevertheless had an outstanding first season. and he drops a first and Cunningham has to carry a developing Pistons team. Something you’d know about Grant. Any advice? Just keep working hard, young man. And he is on the right track for sure. BA, I know he will get it done. He loves the game and he has embraced the challenge of making this team a winner. Both free throws good from Cunningham. We’ve seen him put a lot of pressure on the defense and then cash in at the line. Pass to Moody. 56 seconds left in the first. The ball’s knocked loose and stolen by Cunningham. And the rebound goes to the Warriors. Here’s Moody. Gets it to go from the corner. I love what Jimmy Butler brings to your offense. The ability to score without dominating the ball. 6second difference between the shot clock and game clock. And it’s Isaiah Stewart with a foul. That’s his first foul of the game. I love great defense. Just quick to establish his feet and he takes the hit. Heat. Heat. Two on the clock. That one is off. And so it’s Detroit. They have a nice 9-point cushion at the end of the quarter. And it’s all due to their ability to own the paint. They’ve been dominant down low. All right, we’ll get back to the action after this break. And so far through one quarter, it’s been a lopsided game. We’ll see if that changes here in the second. And guys, what’s your take on the Pistons so far? Well, it’s pretty obvious. I mean, cashing in on extra opportunities. That’s how they built this early lead. You can do everything else right, but if you fail to take care of the defensive glass, you’re killing your chances. Here’s Cunningham. And so in the game for the Warriors, Stewart finds Levert. Now here’s Robinson to the middle. Harris down low working on Green. Harris’s shot is good. Harris has got six. High percentage look for Harris. He becomes more and more efficient offensively. Here’s Moody. The rebound by Stewart. Empty possession and you don’t want to miss these easy looks. Pounded by Harris. Pass to Moody. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. Kade Cunningham picks that one up. Everyone in the building saw the obvious contact. Grant, it’s a shooters league and we’re seeing more and more big men float out to the perimeter and knocking him down. Well, BA, the game has evolved and the shooting, particularly from the bigs, is fantastic. But, you know, I wish the bigs had a little bit more diversity. I don’t mind shooting from the perimeter, but every once in a while, go mix it up and take advantage of your size mismatch in the paint. The first free throw is good. Thompson, he’s checked in for Detroit. Ivy comes in for Cunningham. And that one goes in. Two from the line that time. And about a minute gone in the second quarter. Pass to Ivy. Inside, here’s Levert and he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So, he’ll take two free throws. And when healthy, Levert is a problem. A multi-dimensional guard who can score, pass, and rebound at an impressive clip. two. No good on that one. Duran. He’s checked in for the Pistons. And he sinks the second. Quarter number two with just over a minute of play. Pass to Moody to the inside and it’s hammered home by Green. Great dish, an underrated part of Butler’s game, his ability to create for others. Thompson outside. And here’s Levert. Pass to Ivy. Shot clock at four. And it’s good on the layin. Duran’s got 10 points. And when you’re the ones trying to fight your way back into the game, you simply cannot allow second chances. Especially when you’re this far down, you have to make the most of every sequence. Now, here’s Lebert Thompson. No luck on that one. Green with the defensive effort to the paint with the fadeaway. Thompson pulls it in. Thompson’s got his sixth rebound on the night. Pass to Duran. They grabbed their own miss. Here’s Ivy. Six on the shot clock and it goes. But just two for 10 so far. Credit their discipline. They’ve been working for high percentage shots. pass to Green. The fadeaway. Another shot. And that’s two points on the layup. This is what the analytics prefer. Shots at the rim or from three. Thompson outside. Here’s Ivy. Now Harris hook loose out to the right wing. Pounded by Harris from the arc. Lever with a rebound. The Pistons have got three of six shots to go here in the second quarter. Duran no good. The Warriors have got two of seven attempts to drop since the end of the first quarter. It’s tipped. Here’s Ivy. Here’s Thompson. Misses off the right iron. defended by Thompson. Had a chance there to cut it to single digits, but it’s off target. And the Pistons shooting just 33% so far in this game. Harris misses and the Warriors shooting only 23% so far. Pounded by Harris. Thompson outside to the right side. Wide open. Here’s Green and a good offensive board and he gets the bucket. This is just what Draymond does. Rising to the occasion, showing up every night. Defensively, you can’t afford to let him get to the rim that easily. Well, that might be why their deficit is what it is right now. It’s a back breaker for your defense, giving up easy buckets like that. Now, a timeout called by Golden State. Well, Grant Ivy gets a lot of attention for his scoring, but he can also lock you down at the other end. Oh, yes, he can. BA, he’s big, active, and athletic, too. A strong on ball defender as well. He’ll also jump passing lanes causing deflections. He looks to flip turnovers into points. Heat. Heat. and the Warriors making a switch here. Curry’s checked in. Here’s Curry. High five points in the game. Pass to Moody. He’s checked by Levert. Now here’s Curry. Just five on the clock and out of bounds. Detroit will have it for Detroit. They’ve gone four of 10 from the field in the second. Pass to Harris. Here’s Ivy and he missed again. Now one of five. A tremendous defensive effort saving a bucket right there. You know what? This is why you never give up on a play. You don’t know what’s going to happen from outside the ark. No good that time. And Detroit will go the other way with it. Pass to Harris. Shoots over Curry. Levert with a ball. Six to shoot to the middle. The rebound by Moody. Moody’s got four rebounds in the game. And here’s Curry. He’s checked by Lever. Oh, what a play by Jimmy Butler. He has six. You love how fearless Butler can be charging through contact to get his shot. Here’s Ivy. Pass to Harris. And they double up Harris to the left side wing. And he lobbs it up to the rim. Hammers the lob through. Woo! I just love that alleyoop slam. Da defense disorganized, defense pays. All right, time for an injury report. And now we’ll send it over to Ally Leforce for an update on Draymond Green. Ally, guys, I was able to catch up with the Warriors head athletic trainer and he was relieved that the shoulders only bruised. Looks like he avoided what could have been a very serious injury. All right, Ally. Good stuff there. Always on top of it. Yeah, I mean, it’s just crazy. Even with the advancements in strength training, injuries continue to impact the game. And we’re seeing that across all sports. Guys are just getting bigger faster. The human body can take only so much. Two shots. And the first one at the line is good. And the Warriors making a change here. So he hits one of two from the strike. Golden State has gone 0 for two from outside in the second quarter. Back to Heel. Shoots over Thompson and it’s heel missing. Well, the Pistons shooting only 36% during the second. A moment to hear from Alli Leforce. Well, guys, the NBA markets itself behind its star players, but Commissioner Adam Silver understands what makes the game tick. He said, quote, “This is a team sport. In order to truly win championships and compete at the highest level, all the players have to come together.” So true, Ally. Thank you. Working off the ball, you still have to keep track of Cunningham. He finds ways to score. Right side Curry over Cunningham. It’s deflected and a foul called on the way up. So he’ll take two from the free throw line. Two, two. And he makes a first. The Pistons making a switch here. Robinson’s checked in. Both free throws good from Thompson. So, it’s the Warriors now. They trail by 16. And the Warriors call time here. Coach definitely wants to talk about their interior defense, which has not been impressive. It’s a matter of want to helping out contesting shots. You have to want to make the effort. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. And here’s Curry. Five points in the game. Pass to Jay. Here’s Heield. Oh, no good. Unable to end this run. Robinson against Heel and he drops in the layup off the glass and the Pistons lead by 18. Good touch from Robinson inside. The D can’t let him get this deep. And that replay showed how sensational that drive truly was. With the lead they have, you might think they’d start to settle, but they are still going at the rim strong. And that’s a foul called on Stephen Curry. That’ll be a second foul of the game. And this kind of selflessness is great to see. Textbook positioning to draw the charge. Cunningham against Curry. Cunningham outside. And it hasn’t just been their stellar offense. Their defense has been effective as well. Yes. When it’s going good, it feels easy. These are the nights you relish, but they’re tough to replicate. And so he draws the foul headed to the line to shoot a pair. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. The first one falls. Both shots good from the strike. Here’s Cunningham. He’s got 10. Thompson outside, misses the jumper. Golden State has gone 0 for two from outside in the second quarter. Inside. Oh, deflected and he got the whistle on the way up. So, he’ll be headed to the line for a pair. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. The first free throw is good. He does not get the second one. Boy, this could snowball if they continue to put up points. I can’t say enough about their performance. We’ve got 128 left in the first half of basketball. Six on the shot clock. Here’s Reed. Laid it in with a nice touch off the window. And the Pistons lead by 19. I mean, he’s ignoring the scoreboard. He just keeps coming at him. There’s two things they rely on him for. Being competitive and bringing energy. defended by Thompson. So, it’ll be two free throws. He was fouled in the act of shooting. Shooting two and he drops a first. Stewart, he’s checked in for the Pistons. So he gets them both. There’s 53 seconds left in the second quarter. Here’s Reed. Thompson. Passes to Stewart. Shot clock at six. Pass to Robinson. Off target with the three. And this is exactly who you want taking that shot. He just missed it. Curry. Yes. On the jumper. Curry’s got seven points. That is just pitcher perfect form from Stephen Curry. And that one’s good. Cunningham. And this is what you want to do when you’ve got a big lead. You must stay aggressive. I’m impressed with their intensity tonight. They’ve came in focused and they’ve executed. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. First one falls for him. When you think of Curry, his shooting is what comes to mind always. Specifically, how quick his release is. And so Curry nails both of them. Now here’s Cunningham and he gets the bucket. Cunningham’s got seven now in this quarter. I know Cunningham is enjoying himself right now. He’s playing hard and finding plenty of shots. So, as we conclude the first half, a fairly one-sided game. Pistons ahead, leading by 17. All right, now let’s check in with Ally Leforce. Ally, what do you have? Thanks a lot, guys. Head coach Steve Kerr here with us now. Coach, what do you want to see from this team in the second half? Well, we got to make some stops and get a little traction in this game. I mean, we fell behind right away and uh so let’s make a push the first four or five minutes, get back in the game. Thank you, coach. Ally, as always, thank you. We’ll be back right after the break for the third quarter here on 2K Sports. The 2K Sports Halftime Show. Hey again everybody. I’m Ernie Johnson. Shaq is here. Kenny’s here. You’re watching the NBA halftime show on 2K Sports. There was absolutely no stopping Cade Cunningham in the first half. He had 14 points, three rebounds, and one assist. Coming off an outstanding game last time out. It doesn’t look like he’s lost any of that momentum here tonight. Kenny, what’s your take on Detroit so far? They’re winning the effort battle so far. And I’m talking about the offensive rebound. They’ve got a ton of second chance opportunities. They are just going at it. I mean, physically outmanning it. And their team is playing great. Shaq, what are your thoughts on Golden State? They really need to focus on finding quality shots. If they can’t create for themselves in the second half, things will only get worse. And I’m talking about the high percentage looks, not contested threes. And that’s a wrap for our halftime show. The third quarter just about to get started. And there wasn’t too much drama in the first half, but maybe things will tighten up here in the second. Nice game. Great performance by Kate Cunningham. Through the first two quarters, he’s been on fire. Explosive offensive performance. This is his challenge to continue to dominate to help them try to close strong here in the second half. And with a big gap on the scoreboard, the second half begins with very different goals for these teams. One side trying to mount a comeback, one side trying to protect their lead. It’s Cunningham and Ivy at the one and the two. Then it’s Duran and it’s Reed in at the four slot. That’s JB Bickerstaff’s five as we get going in the second half. And that one’s good. Green aggressive working for the high percentage shot. Draymond understands this game. That was another look at our mobile one drive of the game just a moment ago. Yeah, they have a long way to go, but attacking the rim like that is a great way to start a comeback. Here’s Ivy. Pass to Thompson 43. Here’s Duran. Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him coming up. It’s going to go on Draymond Green. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. First free throw is good. Harris has checked in for Reed. that misses. So he splits the free throws and watching Draymond Green play. Grant, he’s the quarterback on both ends. I love that, BA. Defensively, constantly calling out instructions on how to switch, keeping everyone organized and offensively, Green is an incredible passer. Sees guys get open before they do. Curry gets the bucket. Phenomenal screen and roll player because of his ball handling ability. Comes off the screen, makes the right play, bucket. Cunningham passes to Thompson. Back to Cunningham. Pass to Ivy. Here’s Duran. He’s got 15 again. The miss by the Pistons. Here’s Green. Rebounded by the Pistons. Duran’s got rebound number 15 here tonight. Now Thompson. Here’s Ivy down low. Here’s Harris. Out to Thompson. Second chance shot. The Warriors pull it in from the wing. Deflected. Cunningham outside and he banks in the layup. Cunningham’s got 16 points now. Look at the handles from the big guard. Cunningham just makes things happen. Back to Curry the three and that’s out of bounds. Golden State will retain possession. And you got to be in awe of incredible defensive efforts like this. What a play. I mean, that’ll have the offense thinking twice about taking shots in his presence. A touch over two and a half minutes of basketball played here in the third quarter. Right side green. Five on the clock and it’s off the back of the rim. No good. Not sure if that’s the shot you were looking for, but it’s a barely clean look. Almost have to take it. Duran with the bucket like a matador. Olay. There was no defense. That has to be one of the easier shots I’ve seen tonight. And this is what happens when you start to break your opponent’s spirit. The resistance is no longer there. Cunningham against Curry. That three off target. Had some space there after the pump fake. Pass to Ivy. Third quarter action and just under three and a half minutes have passed to the inside. Takes one from 10 ft. The offensive rebound tries again. Harris left side. The shot from the low post is good. He’s got 10. We see this every night. He has the skill and versatility to keep a defense guessing. outside Curry. And again, no good by Golden State. At some point, when you recognize someone’s this out of rhythm, you have to shift to something else. And it’s out of bounds. The Pistons able to retain possession here. And the Pistons making a change here. Lever’s checked in. And the Warriors making a change here. Pass to Duran and he’s going to the line for two. The official saw contact while he was going up. Shoot two. And he knocks down the first one. That one falls. So, he hits both of them. Time called here. The Warriors decide to talk it over. Yeah. And coach has to tell him to dial it back. He’s trying to do too much. Going one-on-one, forcing bad shots, and it’s really hurting this offense. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. The Warriors have gotten just 25% of their shots to fall since the half. Two for eight. And from the sideline, let’s catch up with Allie. Well, the league and the world have endured tremendous challenges in recent years. Commissioner Silver said, quote, “We found a way to keep going under very difficult circumstances. It required enormous diligence to keep playing throughout the pandemic. We are particularly proud of that.” Brian, hey, the show must go on. Thanks, Alec. Here’s Ivy. It’s a 22-point lead, the most they’ve led by. Out to the right wing. Clock at six. Here’s Duran from 7 ft away. And again, the Pistons missing. Green finds Curry to stop the run and it’s good on the layup. Curry’s gotten four this quarter. When you think of this skinny kid that first entered the league and then now you see his biceps. Stephen Curry has been putting in work. Now here’s Cunningham. 16 points for him. And there’s the lob. Beautiful pass at his size. Cunningham sees the whole floor. They need something good to happen here. Yeah, they’ve gone way too long without a score. Outside Curry. No good on the triple. Detroit has got nothing to fall from outside in this third quarter. Ivy’s shot is off. And here are the Warriors now to the paint. Jay and that one’s good. And Green with the assist. Beautiful feed by Draymond. He plays a physical game, but he also has great awareness and skill. Now, Levert Cunningham on the wing, offensive rebound, and the rebound paying off as they pick up two on the second chance bucket right there. He can do incredible things. He can also help you win by simply being reliable. Timeout called the Warriors. Coach is not happy with their effort on the defensive glass. They’re giving up way too many second chance points. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Moody’s checked in for the Warriors. Curry with it. 13 points in the game and they get it back. Pass to Jay. Boom. He jams it straight down. Explosive leaping ability allows him to play the five even though he’s a little undersized. Harris with it. Here’s Cunningham. It’s down. His seventh make in 13 attempts today. This is where Tobias has really improved. keeping his eyes up, making plays for others. Now here’s Curry. Pass to Moody. Five to shoot. And I pulls it down. Detroit has got nothing to fall from outside in this third quarter. Levert passes to Cunningham. No good there. Green with the defensive effort. The Warriors shooting a low 28% so far on this one. The kick out. Curry. Plenty of space. And that comes off the assist by Green. Curry’s got six here in the quarter. That’s automatic for Steph Curry. His in between jumper is super lethal. Pass to Ivy. Now Harris. Green covering. Harris misses. The Warriors shooting a disappointing 38%. Green. The pass to Curry. from deep and so the ball out of bounds. Duran touched it last. Stewart, he’s checked in for the Pistons. Robinson comes in for Cunningham. Here’s Moody. He’s got five. Six to shoot. Steps back and fires. Second chance effort. And that one’s good. Jay, he’s got seven. I love it. Beautiful job getting to the rim, making a play. Curry with a steal. Oh, and a fast break for the Warriors. Curry aware of his role. When you’re at the point, you have to keep everyone involved. Here’s Ivy outside. Robinson. That’s tipped and it’s going to be out of bounds. Detroit will have another go. Reeds checked in for the Pistons. Heels checked in for the Warriors. Outside Robinson now here’s Lebert. He’s covered closely. Three-pointer. The shot that time not on target. And Golden State will come the other way down low. The kick out. Curry outside heel to the middle. Oh, it’s stolen by Levert. Pass to Ivy. Back to Levert. Another shot. And you can count it. He’ll go to the line with a chance at a three-point play. That was just great work to battle through contact and will end the shot. All right, guys. Some stats here. The scoring breakdown for Detroit. They are dominating the paint in this one. Consistent work inside throughout the game. Also, guys, they put in maximum effort on the offensive glass. Great determination to follow shots and not giving up on the possessions. Thompson, he’s checked in for the Pistons. This Warrior squad is struggling. Pass to Moody outside. Curry outside. Heel puts up a three. The Pistons clear it. Ivy’s got seven rebounds in the game. On the wing, Thompson. He has six. A minute 20 left in the third. Looking to get it going. Rebounded by Green. Green’s got 10 rebounds here tonight. So active, Jay. Some solid defense from Stewart on the wing. Thompson. Here’s the three. Rebounded by Green. And he’s doing things on the glass tonight that we don’t often see. It’s incredible. And I’ll tell you what, it’s a joy to watch. There’s more to his game than threes and dunks. Now here’s Robinson. Pass to Ivy over healed. And that one’s long. I mean, he’s trying to shoot his way out of what’s becoming a prolonged cold streak. You know, to me, this is when you want want to focus on creating for others. Give someone else a chance. It’s called a teammate. And Detroit is shooting a low 29% since halftime. Pass to Robinson. Here’s Ivy. Takes a three. The rebound by Jay. 19 seconds left in the third. And a foul called on the way up. So he’ll take two from the free throw line. It goes on Duncan Robinson. No debate there. He he got hammered. And he drops a first. both good from the line that time. 16 seconds left in the third quarter of the game. Here’s Ivy. He’s covered by Curry. Ivy’s shot is off. One second left. And so it’s Detroit looking in total control with this 17-point advantage as the buzzer sounds. And they’ve racked up a ton of turnovers. We’ll be right back. And now we have a moment to reveal our State Farm assist of the game. You know, I’m kind of stoked that this was a choice because I love this pass. A remarkable find. He put his court vision on full display. Yeah. You also have the location of the pass. Puts it right where it needs to be where his man can do something with it. Well, there may not be a lot of drama down the stretch as we head into the fourth quarter, but stranger things have happened. So, on the floor for Golden State, Pounded by Harris. Curry gets a very good look and converts on the catch and shoot step is nearly automatic. All he needed was the ball. Back to Cunningham. Here’s Duran. Pass to Thompson. lets it fly out of bounds. It’ll go to the Warriors. Here’s Curry. Pounded by Harris. The three is up. Thompson pulls in. Thompson’s got his eighth rebound here tonight. Here’s Harris. The basket’s good. Off the assist from Thompson. And the Pistons lead by 17. And we just had to take one more look at that great drive. Yeah, he made that drive look easy, but that had a high degree of difficulty. Back to Curry. First minute and a half of basketball played here in the fourth. Thompson pulls it in. Thompson’s got nine rebounds in the game. Boy, he’s getting it done. Cunningham outside. Pass to Ivy. Here’s Duran. can’t connect from short range. Boy, they need something to go to regain some confidence. No question. Way too many empty possessions for them. Rebound Detroit 22 was their biggest lead now. Cunningham offline with a three inside. And there is a whistle that goes on Tobias Harris. That’ll be a second foul of the game. Hey, if you’re not going to fight over, you’re essentially giving the shooter the look he wants. Golden State has gone one of two from deep in this quarter. Lays it up and banks it in. And that’s a double double for him. No. Good passing to set that up. Teamwork on display. And it’s Cunningham missing. The Warriors have got three of six shots to go in this fourth quarter. No good there. That would have cut it to single digits. Detroit has gone 0 for two from outside here. the fourth quarter. Pass to Duran. Yes. And a nice assist from Thompson. There’s the triple. Detroit with a rebound. Ivy’s got nine rebounds now to the inside. Here’s Thompson. And oh, that was close. He draws the foul. That’ll shoot two. That’s on Jimmy Butler. I don’t mind that. I mean, they met him at the rim and temporarily prevented the points. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. That free throw is good from Thompson. And so he hits both. Golden State has gone only one of four from the perimeter here in this fourth quarter. And it’s hammered home by Green. At 6’7, Draymond is always capable of skying up for slams like that one. Oh, and that one, no question, powered it down. Incredible work right there on the glass. Just doing all he can to extend that lead. Hey, once you got him on the ropes, keep swinging away. You know why? Because this defense is reeling. They had to stop there, but couldn’t secure the rebound. They’re still looking for answers. So, it’s Detroit now. The Warriors getting their last shot to go. Back to Cunningham. The three is up. Second shot opportunity. Pulls in another board. This kind of effort is amazing. Simply put, he will not be denied. High percentage look. This is what your offense is designed to do. Now here’s Curry. Pass to Green. fires the three and Jimmy Butler good for three. Something that Butler continues to work on when he’s dialed in from deep, he helps big time. Shot is up. Cunningham can’t get that one to fall. Coming out of halftime, he wanted to start strong. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. 1 2 3. No good on the free throw for this team. Draymond’s a true necessity. Does all the little things. Everyone understands how important he is on both ends. Good on the second one. The Pistons shooting only 33%. Not exactly consistent offense. Pass to Duran. The shots good on the assist by Cunningham. Duran’s got 31 points. defended by Thompson. Shoots it from the high post. It’s wide right. Hits off the rim. It’s a shot you would think he would make, but he just doesn’t make it all the time. Here’s Duran. Green covering to the middle. Pass to Moody. Down low. Here’s Green and he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So he’ll take two free throws. That one on Harris. And really credit Green for getting the favorable position down inside, forcing the D’s hand there. Two, two, free throw. Good. Green. and both free throws good for Green. Detroit has gone 0 for three here in the fourth. Pass to Ivy. And here is Thompson to the paint. A nice shot by Ivy. And the Pistons lead by 14. That’s a welltimed, well-coordinated play. Comes right off the pick for the layin. Pass to Green out left to the wing. Five on the clock. The shot. Moody misses. Decent look from mid-range, but there may have been a better option for them in that set. And here is Thompson. Not going to go that time. Green with the defensive effort. This team has something special in Draymond Green at the one and the two. Duran out there with Tobias Harris and it’s Thompson in at the small forward position. Well, when we look at tonight, this could come down to the back courts, Grant. They’re both very talented. Yeah, BA, you know, I love great guard play and of course each team has some serious skills at that position. So, expect a fast pace of play, lots of threes. It should be one heck of a matchup. The Pistons clear it to the paint. Deflected. Known for being a strong defender, Butler takes pride in blocking shots. outside Green. He’s off on that one. Nice D from Thompson. Now here’s Harris. This is where things should start to come together. They’re built more around offensive firepower, not the defense and rebounding that was their trademark in the old days. Pounding it inside early and often. Setting a physical tone. Cunningham against Curry and he’ll draw the foul. He’ll head to the line for two. That one on Harris. Over the course of his career, Jimmy Butler’s made strides in a lot of areas. He’s really matured as a playmaker in the past several seasons. Shoot two. Defended by Thompson outside. Curry from downtown. Rebounded by the Pistons. Thompson’s got four rebounds in the game. Pass to Harris and he got the whistle on the way up. So, he’ll be headed to the line for a pair. It’s going to go on Draymond Green. With a nice combination of strength and elusiveness, Harris makes things difficult for the defenders inside. And a moment here to take a look at the scoring breakdown for the Pistons. For me, they made a point point to attack inside early in the game. And it’s paid off for them. A lot of solid looks in the paint. They’ve also been quick to set up their teammates, wasting no time making the extra pass for the open look. and Harris drops them both. Golden State has gone one for five from three-point range. A cold start. And out of bounds, Detroit will have it. Just a superb read on defense to come up with a block. And this is exactly why he’s out here in order to block shots in tight games like this. Reeds checked in for Harris. The Warriors also with a sub. He’s checked in. And for the Pistons, they’re shooting only 31% to get this game underway. Thompson against Heel. Goes back up and Thompson with a layin. Good execution. They’re getting some short range looks here. outside heel. Cunningham against Curry. Pass to Moody. Launches it. Nice start for him. Sinking his first shot. Keeping his head up at all times. Curry sees his teammate break free. To the wing on the left. Here’s Ivy. Shot clock at six. The Pistons need to get one up quick. Here’s Thompson. The Pistons rebound. Over healed. They get the rebound. Duran with the bucket. Duran’s got six. At the end of the day, when the ball goes up, there’s no substitute for effort. Curry again. It’s Cunningham. No good from 11 ft. Detroit with the ball. Leading by five. Pass to Thompson. Here’s Ivy. Back to Thompson. Launches a three. The rebound by Moody. Something’s off about him this quarter. And it also shows you how difficult this game is. He’s just a little bit off, but it can result in missing everything. Now here’s Cunningham. Three-pointer. Here’s Duran. And it falls for him. He’s now four of seven from the field. Salvage the possession. He’s a terrific offensive rebounder. Heel finds Curry. Here’s Moody. Back to Curry from behind the ark. No good on the shot. And it’s Detroit the other way. Thompson outside. Kicks it out to Cunningham. misses the layup. The Warriors shooting just 25% from the field in the first quarter. Pass to Curry over Ivy and Cunningham pulls it down. Offensively, that’s how you want to end a possession except for the result. A shot to stop the drone. He is on the right track for sure. Sixsec difference between the shot clock and game clock. And it’s Isaiah Stewart with a foul. That’s his first foul of the game. I love great defense. Just quick to establish his feet and he takes the hit. Two on the clock. That one is off. And so it’s Detroit. They have a nice nine-point cushion at the end of the quarter. And it’s all due to their ability to own the paint. They’ve been dominant down low. All right, we’ll get back to the action after this break. And so far through one quarter, it’s been a lopsided game. We’ll see if that changes here in the second. And guys, what’s your take on the Pistons so far? Was pretty obvious. Kate Cunningham picks that one up. Everyone in the building saw the obvious contact. Grant, it’s a shooters league and we’re seeing more and more big men float out to the perimeter and knocking them down. Well, BA, the game has evolved and the shooting, particularly from the bigs, is fantastic, but you know, I wish the bigs had a little bit more diversity. Inside. Here’s Levert. and he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So, he’ll take two free throws. And when healthy, Levert is a problem. A multi-dimensional guard who can score, pass, and rebound at an impressive clip. No good on that one. Duran, he’s checked in for the Pistons. Eddie sinks the second. Quarter number two with just over a minute of play. Pass to Moody to the inside and it’s hammered home by Green. Great dish, an underrated part of Butler’s game, his ability to create for others. Thompson outside and here’s Levert. Pass to Ivy. Shot clock at four and it’s good on the layin. Duran’s got 10 points. And when you’re the ones trying to fight your way back into the game, you simply cannot allow second chances, especially when you’re this far down. You have to make the most of every sequence. Now here’s Levert Thompson. No luck on that one. Green with the defensive effort to the paint with the fadeaway. Thompson pulls it in. Thompson’s got his sixth rebound on the night. Pass to Duran. They grabbed their own miss. Here’s Ivy. Six on the shot clock. And it goes, but just two for 10 so far. Credit their discipline. They’ve been working for high percentage shots. Pass to Green. The fadeaway. Another shot. And that’s two points on the layup. This is what the analytics prefer. Shots at the rim or from three. Thompson outside. Here’s Ivy. Now Harris hook loose out to the right wing. Pounded by Harris from the ark. Thompson outside to the right side, wide open. Here’s Green and a good offensive board and he gets the bucket. This is just what Draymond does. Rising to the occasion, showing up every night. Defensively, you can’t afford to let him get to the rim that easily. Well, that might be why their deficit is what it is right now. It’s a back breaker for your defense giving up easy buckets like that. Now a timeout called by Golden State. Well, Grant Ivy gets a lot of attention for his scoring, but he can also lock you down at the other end. Oh yes, he can be a He’s big, active, and athletic, too. A strong on ball defender as well. He’ll also jump passing lanes causing deflections. He looks to flip turnovers into points. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. And the Warriors making a switch here. Curry’s checked in. Here’s Curry. Five points in the game. Pass to Moody. He’s checked by Levert. Now here’s Curry. Just five on the clock and out of bounds. Detroit will have it. for Detroit. They’ve gone four of 10 from the field in the second pass to Harris. Here’s Ivy. Pass to Harris and they double up Harris to the left side wing and he lobbs it up to the rim. Hammers the lob through. Woo! I just love that alleyoop slam. Ba defense disorganized, defense pays. All right, Ally, good stuff there. Always on top of it. Yeah, I mean it’s just crazy. Even with the advancements in strength training, injuries continue to impact the game. And we’re seeing that across all sports. Guys are just getting bigger faster. The human body can take only so much. Two shots. And the first one at the line is good. And the Warriors making a change here. So he hits one of two from the strike. Golden State has gone 0 for two from outside in the second quarter. back to heel shoots over Thompson and it’s heel missing. Well, the Pistons shooting only 36% during the second. A moment to hear from Alli Leforce. Well, guys, the NBA markets itself behind its star players, but Commissioner Adam Silver understands what makes the game tick. He said, quote, “This is a team sport. In order to truly win championships and compete at the highest level, all the players have to come together. So true, Ally. Thank you. Working off the ball, you still have to keep track of Cunningham. He finds ways to score. Right side. Curry over Cunningham. It’s deflected and a foul called on the way up. So, he’ll take two from the free throw line. Two, two. And he makes a first. The Pistons making a switch here. Robinson’s checked in. Both free throws good from Thompson. So, it’s the Warriors now. They trail by 16 and the Warriors call time here. Coach definitely wants to talk about their interior defense which has not been impressive. It’s a matter of want to helping out contesting shots. You have to want to make the effort. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. And here’s Curry. Five points in the game. Pass to Jay. Here’s Heielded. Oh, no good. Unable to end this run. Robinson against Heel. and he drops in the layup off the glass and the Pistons lead by 18. Good touch from Robinson inside. The D can’t let him get this deep. And that replay showed how sensational that drive truly was with the lead they have. You might think they’d start to settle, but they are still going at the rim strong. Thompson outside. Misses the jumper. All right. Now, let’s check in with Ally Leforce. They’ve had a ton of second chance opportunities. Nice gain. Here’s Ivy. Pass to Thompson. 43. Defensively, constantly calling out instructions on how to switch, keeping everyone organized, and offensively, Green is an incredible passer. Back to Curry, the three. And that’s out of bounds. Golden State will retain possession. And you got to be in awe of incredible defensive efforts like this. What a play. I mean, that’ll have the offense thinking twice about taking shots in his presence. A touch over 2 and 1/2 minutes of basketball played here in the third quarter. Right side green. Five on the clock. And it’s off the back of the rim. No good. Not sure if that’s the shot you were looking for, but it’s a fairly clean look. The officials saw contact while he was going up. shooting two. And he knocks down the first one. That one falls. So he hits both of them. Time called here. The Warriors decide to talk it over. Yeah. And coach has to tell him to dial it back. He’s trying to do too much. Going one-on-one, forcing bad shots, and it’s really hurting this offense. Heat up here. Heat up here. Ivy shot is off. And here are the Warriors now. To the paint. Jay. And that one’s good. Heat up here. Heat. Five to shoot and Ivy pulls it down. Detroit has got nothing to fall from outside in this third quarter. Levert passes to Cunningham. No good there. Green with the defensive effort. The Warriors shooting a low 28% so far in this one. Pass to Ivy. Now Harris. Green covering. Harris misses. The Warriors shooting a disappointing 38%. Green. The pass to Curry from deep. And so the ball out of bounds. Duran touched it last. Stewart, he’s checked in for the Pistons. Robinson comes in for Cunningham. Here’s Moody. He’s got five. Six to shoot. Steps back and fires. Second chance effort and that one’s good. Jay, he’s got seven. I love it. Beautiful job getting to the rim, making a play. Curry with a steal. Oh, and a fast break for the Warriors. Curry aware of his role. When you’re at the point, you have to keep everyone involved. Here’s Ivy outside. Robinson. That’s tipped. And it’s going to be out of bounds. Detroit will have another go. Reeds checked in for the Pistons. Heels checked in for the Warriors. Outside Robinson. Now here’s Lebert. He’s covered closely. three-pointer. The shot that time not on target and Golden State will come the other way down low. The kick out. Curry outside heel to the middle. Oh, it’s stolen by Levert. Pass to Ivy. Back to Levert. Another shot and you can count it. Now, here’s Robinson. Pass to Ivy. Over healed. And that one’s long. I mean, he’s trying to shoot his way out of what’s becoming a prolonged cold streak. You know, to me, this is when you want to focus on creating for others. He got hammered. And he drops a first. both good from the line that time. 16 seconds left in the third quarter of the game. Here’s Ivy. He’s covered by Curry. Ivy’s shot is off. One second left and so it’s Detroit looking in total control with this 17-point advantage as the buzzer sounds and they’ve racked up a ton of turnovers. We’ll be right back. And now we have a moment to reveal our State Farm assist of the game. You know, I’m kind of stoked that this was the choice because I love this pass. Lets it fly. Out of bounds. Rebound Detroit 22 was their biggest lead. Now Cunningham offline with a three inside and there is a whistle that goes on Tobias Harris. That’ll be a second foul of the game and the Warriors making a switch here. Green is checked in. off the inbound pass connects from downtown. Rock solid screen right there. The defender got completely lost. Hey, if you’re not going to fight over, you’re essentially giving the shooter the look he wants. Golden State has gone one of two from deep in this quarter. Lays it up and banks it in. in and that’s a double double for Hip. No, good passing to set that up. Teamwork on display and it’s Cunningham missing. The Warriors have got three of six shots to go in this fourth quarter. No good there. That would have cut it to single digits. Detroit has gone 0 for two from outside here in the fourth quarter. Pass to Duran. Yes. And a nice assist from Thompson. Duran’s got 25 points in the game. Unselfish moving the ball. Love to see this kind of offense. On the wing. Green back to Curry. Down to five on the shot clock. Golden State needs to get off a shot. And so he hits both Golden State has gone only one of four from the perimeter here in this fourth quarter. And it’s hammered home by Green. At 6’7, Draymond is always capable of skying up for slams like that one. Here’s Ivy. Pass to Duran. Now here’s Thompson. Six on the shot clock. Here’s Duran. Thompson. Passes to Harris. Picked his pocket. Got it. Good job in the low post. A solid all-around player. Jimmy Butler understands the importance of sharing the ball with open guys. Here’s Ivy. Pass to Cunningham. Thompson outside. Now here’s Cunningham. Pulls it from the top of the key. Here’s Durham. Oh, and that one, no question, powered it down. Incredible work right there on the glass. Just doing all he can to extend that lead. Hey, once you got him on the ropes, keep swinging away. You know why? Because this defense is reeling. They had the stop there, but couldn’t secure the rebound. Yet the opposite happened. Pass to Green. over Harris. Had a chance there to cut it to single digits, but it’s off target. Detroit has gone 0 for three here in the fourth. Ivy’s shot is off. Golden State is got two of five threes to go here in the fourth. He didn’t have his feet planted. defended by Thompson. Pass to Curry. The three. It’s simple. K. Cunningham has all the tools to be an elite defender. Here’s Ivy. That one’s wide left. Green in the post. Defended by Thompson. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. One, two, no good on the free throw for this team. Draymond’s a true necessity. Does all the little things. Everyone understands how important he is on both ends. Good on the second one. The Pistons shooting only 33%. Not exactly consistent offense. That’s to Duran. Ooh, plenty of contact on that shot. Officials call the foul and he’ll take two free throws. Now, he’s the kind of player every team is looking for. Cunningham understands both how to move the ball and how to create for himself. Shooting two. That free throw good from Cunningham. The first overall pick in the 2021 draft. K. Cunningham is a special talent. Lots to like about his game. Moody’s checked in for the Warriors. Both free throws good from Cunningham. The Warriors have gone seven for 15 in the fourth. Pass to Moody down low. Here’s Green. And he was fouled while in the act of shooting. Golden State has gone two of six so far in the fourth. Here’s Curry and he can’t get that one. And Detroit the other way now. 22 was their biggest lead. Thompson finds Cunningham. Here’s Ivy. And here is Thompson. for three. Here’s Harris. It’s rebounded by Jimmy Butler. Grabs the rebound again, collecting yet another board. He has been everywhere. Just an animal. Here’s Moody. And the Warriors miss again. Detroit has gone one for five shooting from the arc here in the fourth. Cunningham. That shot off the mark. The Warriors shooting right below 40% here in the fourth. They came out and had a statement win with their performance tonight. A fantastic effort to get it done here for the Pistons. They made a point to get some good looks. Yes, they were able to pound the ball inside. I love it. Here’s Cunningham after the Warriors picking up a basket just a moment ago. The baseline Jay Curry with the block. Great anticipation from Steph Curry and beautiful timing on that play. Pass to Moody defended by Thompson. Back to Curry. Good. Fires from deep. Rebound Detroit. Cunningham passes to Thompson. Back to Cunningham. Here’s Duran. And count the basket. He was fouled. And he’s going to the line for one more. This has to feel good. They gave their fans a show and secured the W. They’re going to win by a nice margin. The effort was there all night. One shot. 26 seconds left to play in the fourth quarter of this one. Pass to Row. Collins outside. Green with the ball. Shot clock at six. Count that one. Not many power forwards can defend at a high level and at the same time facilitate the offense. This team has something special in Draymond Green at the one and the two. Duran out there with Tobias Harris and it’s Thompson in at the small forward position. Well, when we look at tonight, this could come down to the back courts, Grant. They’re both very talented. Yeah, BA, you know, I love great guard play. And of course, each team has some serious skills at that position. Tight defense on him. Pass to Cunningham. Clock at six. Missed inside. Here’s Curry. He’s watched by Cunningham. And there’s the drive. Green for three. Can’t hit it. He’s 0 for two now. Pass to Ivy. Thompson outside. Back to Cunningham. Yes. And a nice assist from Thompson for Kade. Consistently knocking down threes. Thompson outside to the left wing. from the top of the key. Duran offensive board. Here’s Harris. Oh, just couldn’t take the lid off. They had their chances. Came up empty on the wing. Curry inside. And that misses. That would have put him up. The Pistons have gone only one of six so far. Golden State has gone one of two from three-point land so far. The Pistons have been in rebuild mode for a while. They’ve stockpiled a lot of young talent. This is when things should start to come together. Ivy’s shot is off. And so it’s Golden State with it. Shoots from 14. He got a piece of it. to the middle. Shoot two. First free throw is good. Well, Smitty, we’ve seen an uptick in Butler’s assists since he moved on from the 76ers. Yeah, we’re not going to start calling him Jimmy Dimes. We know passing has played a big part of his game. He trusts his teammate. He doesn’t feel the need to always take over, but Jimmy is definitely a scoreer. Defended by Thompson outside. Curry from downtown. Rebounded by the Pistons. Thompson’s got four rebounds in the game. Pass to Harris and he got the whistle on the way up. And this is exactly why he’s out here in order to block shots in tight games like this. Reeds checked in for Harris. The Warriors also with a sub. Heields checked in. And for the Pistons, they’re shooting only 31% to get this game underway. Thompson against heel goes back up and Thompson with a layin. Good execution. They’re getting some short range looks here. Outside heel. Cunningham against Curry. Pass to Moody. launches it. Nice start for him. Sinking his first shot, keeping his head up at all times, Curry sees his teammate break free to the wing on the left. Here’s Duran. And it falls for him. He’s now four of seven from the field. Salvage the possession. He’s a terrific offensive rebounder. Heel finds Curry. Here’s Moody. Back to Curry from behind the ark. No good on the shot and it’s Detroit the other way. Thompson outside. Kicks it out to Cunningham. Misses the layup. The Warriors shooting just 25% from the field in the first quarter. Pass to Curry over Ivy and Cunningham pulls it down. Offensively, that’s how you want to end a possession except for the result. A shot to stop the drought. The shot won’t fall and Detroit will go the other way with it. Here’s Cunningham. So, it’ll be two free throws. He was fouled in the act of shooting. Well, the number one overall pick in 2021, Cade Cunningham, ended up third in the Rookie of the Year voting, but nevertheless had an outstanding first season. and he drops a first and Cunningham has to carry a developing Pistons team. Something you’d know about Grant. Any advice? Just keep working hard, young man. He is on the right track for sure. BA I know he will get it done. Well, BA, the game has evolved and the shooting particularly from the bigs is fantastic. Two from the line that time and about a minute gone in the second quarter. Pass to Ivy. Inside, here’s Levert. And he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So, he’ll take two free throws. And when healthy, Levert is a problem. A multi-dimensional guard who can score, pass, and rebound at an impressive clip. two. No good on that one. Duran, he’s checked in for the Pistons. And he sinks the second. Quarter number two with just over a minute of play. Pass to Moody to the inside and it’s hammered home by Green. Great dish, an underrated part of Butler’s game, his ability to create for others. They grab their own miss. Pounded by Harris from the ark. Thompson outside to the right side, wide open. Here’s Green and a good offensive board and he gets the bucket. This is just what Draymond does. Rising to the occasion, showing up every night. Woo! Five points in the game. Pass to Moody. He’s checked by Levert. Now here’s Curry. Just five on the clock and out of bounds. Detroit will have it for Detroit. They’ve gone four of 10 from the field in the second. Pass to Harris. Here’s Ivy. And he missed again. And they double up Harris to the left side wing and he lobbs it up to the rim. Hammers the lob through. Woo! I just love that alleyoop slam. Ba defense disorganized, defense pays. All right, time for an injury report. And now we’ll send it over to Ally Leforce for an update on Draymond Green. Ally guys, I was able to catch up with the Warriors head athletic trainer and he was relieved that the shoulders only bruised. Looks like he avoided what could have been a very serious injury. Well guys, the NBA markets itself behind its star players, but Commissioner Adam Silver understands what makes the game tick. So he’ll take two from the free throw line. Two, two, and he makes a first. The Pistons making a switch here. Robinson’s checked in. Both free throws good from Thompson. So, it’s the Warriors now. They trail by 16. And the Warriors call time here. Coach definitely wants to talk about their interior defense, which has not been impressive. It’s a matter of want to helping out, contesting shots. You have to want to make the effort. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. And here’s Curry. Five points in the game. Pass to Jay. Here’s Hee. Oh, no good. Unable to end this run. Robinson against Heel. and he drops in the layup off the glass and the Pistons lead by 18. Good touch from Robinson inside. The D can’t let him get this deep. And that replay showed how sensational that drive truly was with the lead they had. You might think they’d start to settle, but they are still going at the rim strong. And that’s a foul called on Stephen Curry. That’ll be his second foul of the game. And this kind of selflessness is great to see. Textbook positioning to draw the charge. Cunningham against Curry. Cunningham outside. And it hasn’t just been their stellar offense. Their defense has been effective as well. Yes. When it’s going good, it feels easy. These are the nights you relish. but they’re tough to replicate. And so he draws the foul headed to the line to shoot a pair. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. The first one falls. both shots good from the strike. Here’s Cunningham. He’s got 10. Thompson outside misses the jumper. All right, now let’s check in with Alli Leforce. We’ll be back right after the break for the third quarter here on 2K Sports, the 2K Sports Halftime Show. I mean, physically outmanning it, and their team is playing great. That’s JB Vickerstaff’s five as we get going in the second half. Defensively, constantly calling out instructions on how to switch, keeping everyone organized, and offensively, Green is an incredible passer. Sees guys get open before they do. Curry gets the bucket. Phenomenal screen and role player because of his ball handling ability. Here’s IBY down low. Here’s Harris. Out to Thompson. Second chance shot. The Warriors pull it in from the wing. deflected Cunningham outside and he banks in the layup. Cunningham’s got 16 points now. Look at the handles from the big guard. Cunningham just makes things happen. Back to Curry. The three and that’s out of bounds. No good. Not sure if that’s the shot you were looking for, but it’s a fairly clean look. He has the skill and versatility to keep a defense guessing. outside. Curry and again, no good by Golden State. At some point, when you recognize someone’s this out of rhythm, you have to shift to something else. And it’s out of bounds. The Pistons able to retain possession here. And the Pistons making a change here. Lever’s checked in and the Warriors making a change here. pass to Duran and he’s going to the line for two. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. The Warriors have gotten just 25% of their shots to all since the half. We are particularly proud of that, Brian.” Hey, the show must go on. Five to shoot and Ivy pulls it down. Detroit has got nothing to fall from outside in this third quarter. Levert passes to Cunningham. No good there. Green with the defensive effort. The Warriors shooting a low 28% so far in this one. The kick out. Curry. Plenty of space. And that comes off the assist by Green. Curry’s got six here in the quarter. That’s automatic for Steph Curry. His in between jumper is super lethal. Pass to Ivy. Now Harris. Green covering. Harris misses. The Warriors shooting a disappointing 38%. Now here’s Levert. He’s covered closely. Three-pointer. The shot that time not on target and Golden State will come the other way down low. The kick out. Curry outside heel to the middle. Oh, it’s stolen by Levert. Pass to Ivy. Back to Levert. Another shot and you can count it. Pass to Ivy. Over healed. And that one’s long. I mean, he’s trying to shoot his way out of what’s becoming a prolonged cold streak. A remarkable find. He put his court vision on full display. Yeah. You also have the location of the pass. Puts it right where it needs to be where his man can do something with it. Well, there may not be a lot of drama down the stretch as we head into the fourth quarter, but stranger things have happened. So, on the floor for Golden State, Curry, Curry, pounded by Harris. Curry gets a very good look and converts on the catch and shoot step is nearly automatic. All he needed was the ball. Back to Cunningham. Here’s Duran. Pass to Thompson. Lets it fly. Out of bounds. Rebound Detroit 22 was their biggest lead. Now Cunningham offline with a three inside and there is a whistle that goes on Tobias Harris. That’ll be a second foul of the game and the Warriors making a switch here. Green has checked in. off the inbound pass connects from downtown. Rock solid screen right there. The defender got completely lost. Hey, if you’re not going to fight over, you’re essentially giving the shooter the look he wants. Golden State has gone one of two from deep in this quarter. lays it up and banks it in and that’s a double double for him. Love to see this kind of offense on the wing. Green back to Curry. Down to five on the shot clock. Golden State needs to get off a shot. Here’s Ivy. Pass to Duran. Now here’s Thompson. Six on the shot clock. Here’s Duran. Thompson. passes to Harris. Picked his pocket. Got it. Good job in the low post. A solid all-around player. Jimmy Butler understands the importance of sharing the ball with open guys. Here’s Ivy. Pass to Cunningham. Thompson outside. Now here’s Cunningham. Pulls it from the top of the key. Here’s Duran. Now, here’s Curry. Pass to Green. Fires the three. And Jimmy Butler good for three. Something that Butler continues to work on. When he’s dialed in from deep, he helps big time. Shot is up. Cunningham can’t get that one to fall. Coming out of halftime. He wanted to start strong. Yet the opposite happened. Pass to Green over Harris. had a chance there to cut it to single digits, but it’s off target. Green in the post, defended by Thompson. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. 1. Plenty of contact on that shot. Here’s Green and he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So, he’ll take two free throws. That one on Harris. And really credit Green for getting the favorable position down inside. Forcing the D’s hand there. Free throw good. Green. and both free throws good for Green. Detroit has gone 0 for three here in the fourth. Pass to Ivy and here is Thompson. to the paint. A nice shot by Ivy and the Pistons lead by 14. Golden State has gone two of six so far in the fourth. Here’s Curry. And he can’t get that one. And Detroit the other way now. 22 was their biggest lead. Thompson finds Cunningham. Here’s Ivy. And here is Thompson for three. I love it. Here’s Cunningham after the Warriors picking up a basket just a moment ago. the baseline. Jay Curry with the block. Great anticipation from Steph Curry and beautiful timing on that play. Pass to Moody. Defended by Thompson. Back to Curry. Fires from deep. Rebound Detroit. Cunningham passes to Thompson. Back to Cunningham. Here’s Duran and count the basket. He was fouled and he’s going to the line for one more. This team has something special in Draymond Green at the one and the two Duran out there with Tobias Harris and it’s Thompson in at the small forward position. Well, when we look at tonight, this could come down to the back courts, Grant. They’re both very talented. Yeah, BA, you know, I love great guard play. And of course, each team has some serious skills at that position. So, expect a fast pace of play, lots of threes. It should be one heck of a matchup. The Pistons clear it. To the paint. deflected. Known for being a strong defender, Butler takes pride in blocking shots. Outside Green. He’s off on that one. Nice D from Thompson. Now here’s Harris. Tight defense on him. Pass to Cunningham. Clock at six. Missed inside. Here’s Curry. He’s watched by Cunningham. And there’s the drive. Green for three. Can’t hit it. He’s 0 for two now. Pass to Ivy. Thompson outside. Back to Cunningham. Yes. And a nice assist from Thompson for Kade. Consistently knocking down threes. Shooting two. And this is exactly why he’s out here in order to block shots in tight games like this. Reeds checked in for Harris. The Warriors also with a sub. Heels checked in. And for the Pistons, they’re shooting only 31% to get this game underway. Thompson against Heel. Goes back up and Thompson with a layin. Good execution. They’re getting some short range looks here. Outside heel. Cunningham against Curry. Pass to Moody. launches it. Nice start for him. Sinking his first shot. Keeping his head up at all times, Curry sees his teammate break free to the wing on the left. Detroit with the ball. leading by five. Pass to Thompson. Here’s Ivy. Back to Thompson. Launches a three. The rebound by Moody. Something’s off about him this quarter. And it also shows you how difficult this game is. He’s just a little bit off, but it can result in missing everything. Now here’s Cunningham. Three-pointer. Here’s Duran. And it falls for him. He’s now four of seven from the field. Salvage the possession. He’s a terrific offensive rebounder. Heel finds Curry. Here’s Moody. Back to Curry from behind the ark. A shot to stop the drought. The shot won’t fall. And Detroit will go the other way with it. Well, BA, the game has evolved and the shooting particularly from the bigs is fantastic. Shot clock at four and it’s good on the layin. Duran’s got 10 points. And when you’re the ones trying to fight your way back into the game, you simply cannot allow second chances, especially when you’re this far down. You have to make the most of every sequence. Now, here’s Levert. Thompson. No luck on that one. Green with the defensive effort to the paint. with the fadeaway. Pounded by Harris from the ark. It’s a backbreaker for your defense, giving up easy buckets like that. Now, a timeout called by Golden State. Well, Grant Ivy gets a lot of attention for his scoring, but he can also lock you down at the other end. Oh yes, he can be a He’s big, active, and athletic, too. A strong on ball defender as well. He’ll also jump passing lanes causing deflections. He looks to flip turnovers into points. Heat. Heat. And the Warriors making a switch here. Curry’s checked in. Here’s Curry. Five points in the game. Pass to Moody. He’s checked by Levert. Now here’s Curry. Just five on the clock and out of bounds. Detroit will have it. for Detroit. Lever with a ball. Six to shoot to the middle. The rebound by Moody. Moody’s got four rebounds in the game. And here’s Curry. He’s checked by Lever. Oh, what a play by Jimmy Butler. He has six. You love how fearless Butler can be charging through contact to get his shot. Here’s Ivy. Pass to Harris and they double up Harris to the left side wing and he lobbs it up to the rim. Hammers the lob through. Woo! I just love that alleyoop slam. Ba defense disorganized, defense pays. Golden State has gone 0 for two from outside in this second quarter. back to heel. He finds ways to score right side. Curry over Cunningham. It’s deflected. And a foul called on the way up. So he’ll take two from the free throw line. Two, two, and he makes a first. The Pistons making a switch here. Robinson’s checked in. Both free throws good from Thompson. So it’s the Warriors now. These are the nights you relish, but they’re tough to replicate. And so he draws the foul. Headed to the line to shoot a pair. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. The first one falls. Both shots good from the strike. Here’s Cunningham. He’s got 10. Thompson outside misses the jumper. Played it in with a nice touch off the window and the Pistons lead by 19. I mean, he’s ignoring the scoreboard. He just keeps coming at him. There’s two things they rely on him for. being competitive and bringing energy. Defended by Thompson. So, it’ll be two free throws. He was fouled in the act of shooting. Shooting two and he drops a first. Stewart. He’s checked in for the Pistons. So, he gets them both. There’s 53 seconds left in the second quarter. Here’s Reed. Thompson passes to Stewart. So as we conclude the first half, a fairly one-sided game. Pistons ahead leading by 17. All right, now let’s check in with Ally Leforce. Ally, what do you have? Pistons. We’ll be back right after the break for the third quarter here on 2K Sports, the 2K Sports Halftime show. Hey again everybody, I’m Ernie Johnson. Shaq is here. Kenny’s here. You’re watching the NBA halftime show on 2K Sports. There was absolutely no stopping Cade Cunningham in the first half. He had 14 points, three rebounds, and one assist. Coming off an outstanding game last time out, it doesn’t look like he’s lost any of that momentum here tonight. Kenny, what’s your take on Detroit so far? They’re winning the effort battle so far. And I’m talking about the offensive rebound. They’ve got a ton of second chance opportunities. They are just going at it. I mean, physically outmanning it and their team is playing great. Yeah, there wasn’t too much drama in the first half, but maybe things will tighten up here in the second. Defensively, constantly calling out instructions on how to switch, keeping everyone organized, and offensively, Green is an incredible passer. Sees guys get open before they do. Curry gets the bucket. Phenomenal screen and role player because of his ball handling ability. Comes off the screen, makes the right play, bucket. Cunningham passes to Thompson. Back to Cunningham. Pass to Ivy. Here’s Duran. He’s got 15 again. The miss by the Pistons. Here’s Green. Rebounded by the Pistons. Duran’s got rebound number 15 here tonight. Now Thompson. Here’s Ivy down low. Here’s Harris. Out to Thompson. Second chance shot. The Warriors pull it in from the wing. deflected Cunningham outside and he banks in the layup. Cunningham’s got 16 points now. Look at the handles from the big guard. Cunningham just makes things happen. Back to Curry. The three and that’s out of bounds. Almost have to take it. Duran with the bucket like a matador. Olay. There was no defense. That has to be one of the easier shots I’ve seen tonight. And this is what happens when you start to break your opponent’s spirit. The resistance is no longer there. Cunningham against Curry. Got three off target. Had some space there after the pump fake. Pass to Ivy. Third quarter action and just under three and a half minutes have passed to the inside. Takes one from 10 ft. The offensive rebound tries again. Harris left side. The shot from the low post is good. He’s got 10. We see this every night. He has the skill and versatility to keep a defense guessing. outside. Curry and again, no good by Golden State. At some point, when you recognize someone’s this out of rhythm, you have to shift to something else. And it’s out of bounds. The Pistons able to retain possession here. And the Pistons making a change here. Leverts checked in and the Warriors making a change here. pass to Duran and he’s going to the line for two. The official saw contact while he was going up. Shoot two. And he knocks down the first one. That one falls. So he hits both of them. Time called here. The Warriors decide to talk it over. Yeah. And coach has to tell him to dial it back. He’s trying to do too much. Going one-on-one, forcing bad shots, and it’s really hurting this offense. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. We are particularly proud of that, Brian. Hey, the show must go on. Thanks, Alec. Here’s Ivy. It’s a 22-point lead, the most they’ve led by out to the right wing. And here are the Warriors now. To the paint, Jay. And that one’s good. And Green with the assist. Beautiful feed by Draymond. He plays a physical game, but he also has great awareness and skill. Now, Levert Cunningham on the wing. offensive rebound and the rebound paying off as they pick up two on the second chance bucket right there. He can do incredible things. He can also help you win by simply being reliable. Timeout called the Warriors. Coach is not happy with their effort on the defensive glass. They’re giving up way too many second chance points. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Moody’s checked in for the Warriors. Curry with it. 13 points in the game. And they get it back. Green. The pass to Curry from deep. And so the ball out of bounds. Duran touched it last. Stewart. He’s checked in for the Pistons. Robinson. That’s tipped. And it’s going to be out of bounds. Detroit will have another go. Reeds checked in for the Pistons. Heels checked in for the Warriors. Outside Robinson now here’s Levert. He’s covered closely. Three-pointer. The shot that time not on target and Golden State will come the other way down low. The kick out. Curry outside heel to the middle. Oh, it’s stolen by Levert. Pass to Ivy. Back to Levert. Another shot and you can count it. Pass to Ivy. Over healed. And that one’s long. I mean, he’s trying to shoot his way out of what’s becoming a prolonged cold streak. You know, to me, this is when you want to focus on creating for others. Rebound Detroit. 22 was their biggest lead. Now Cunningham offline with a three inside and there is a whistle that goes on Tobias Harris. That’ll be a second foul of the game. And the Warriors making a switch here. Green has checked in. off the inbound pass connects from downtown. Rock solid screen right there. The defender got completely lost. Hey, if you’re not going to fight over, you’re essentially giving the shooter the look he wants. Golden State has gone one of two from deep in this quarter. lays it up and banks it in. And that’s a double double for him. No, good passing to set that up. Teamwork on display. And it’s Cunningham missing. The Warriors have got three of six shots to go in this fourth quarter. No good there. That would have cut it to single digits. Detroit has gone 0 for two from outside here in the fourth quarter. Pass to Duran. Yes. And a nice assist from Thompson. Duran’s got 25 points in the game. Unselfish moving the ball. Love to see this kind of offense on the wing. Green back to Curry. Down to five on the shot clock. Golden State needs to get off a shot. Golden State is gone only one of four from the perimeter here in this fourth quarter. And it’s hammered home by Green. At 6’7, Draymond is always capable of skying up for slams like that one. Here’s Ivy. Pass to Duran. Now here’s Thompson. Six on the shot clock. Here’s Duran. Thompson. Passes to Harris. Picked his pocket. Got it. Good job in the low post. A solid all-around player, Jimmy Butler understands the importance of sharing the ball with open guys. Here’s Ivy. Pass to Cunningham. Thompson outside. Now here’s Cunningham. Pulls it from the top of the key. Here’s Durham. Oh, and that one, no question, powered it down. Incredible work right there on the glass. Just doing all he can to extend that lead. Hey, once you got them on the ropes, keep swinging away. Now, here’s Curry. Pass to Green, fires the three, and Jimmy Butler good for three. Something that Butler continues to work on. When he’s dialed in from deep, he helps big time. Shot is up. Cunningham can’t get that one to fall. Coming out of halftime, he wanted to start strong. Yet the opposite happened. Pass to Green over Harris. Had a chance there to cut it to single digits, but it’s off target. Heat. Heat. Oh, plenty of contact on that shot. Here’s Green and he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So he’ll take two free throws. That one on Harris and really credit Green for getting the favorable position down inside, forcing the D’s hand there. Two, two, free throw. Good. Green. Yeah. And both free throws good for Green. Detroit has gone 0 for three here in the fourth. Pass to Ivy. And here is Thompson to the paint. A nice shot by Ivy and the Pistons lead by 14. Grabs the rebound again collecting yet another board. He has been everywhere. Just an animal. Here’s Moody. And the Warriors miss again. Detroit has gone one for five shooting from the arc here in the fourth. Cunningham that shot off the mark. The Warriors shooting right below 40% here in the fourth. They came out and had a statement win with their performance tonight. A fantastic effort to get it done here for the Pistons. They made a point to get some good looks. Yes, they were able to pound the ball inside. I love it. Here’s Cunningham after the Warriors picking up a basket just a moment ago. the baseline. Jay Curry with the block. Great anticipation from Steph Curry and beautiful timing on that play. Pass to Row Collins outside. Green with the ball. Shot clock at six. Count that one. Not many power fors can defend at a high level and at the same time facilitate the offense. This team has something special in Draymond Green at the one and the two. Duran out there with Tobias Harris and it’s Thompson in at the small forward position. Well, when we look at tonight, this could come down to the back courts, Grant. They’re both very talented. Yeah, BA, you know, I love great guard play, and of course, each team has some serious skills at that position, so expect a fast pace of play, lots of threes. It should be one heck of a matchup. The Pistons clear it. to the paint. Deflected. Known for being a strong defender, Butler takes pride in blocking shots. Outside Green. He’s off on that one. Nice D from Thompson. Now here’s Harris. Tight defense on him. Pass to Cunningham. Clock at six. Missed inside. Here’s Curry. He’s watched by Cunningham. And there’s the drive. Green for three. can’t hit it. He’s 0 for two now. Pass to Ivy. Thompson outside. Back to Cunningham. Yes. And a nice assist from Thompson for Kade. Consistently knocking down threes. Came up empty. on the wing. Curry inside and that misses. That would have put him up. The Pistons have gone only one of six so far. Golden State has gone one of two from three-point land so far. The Pistons have been in rebuild mode for a while. They’ve stockpiled a lot of young talent. This is when things should start to come together. Ivy’s shot is off and so it’s Golden State with it. Shoots from 14. You got a piece of it to the middle. Here’s Duran. And the layup falls. Defended by Thompson outside. Curry from downtown. Rebounded by the Pistons. Thompson’s got four rebounds in the game. Pass to Harris and he got the whistle on the way up. Keeping his head up at all times, Curry sees his teammate break free to the wing on the left. Here’s Duran. And it falls for him. He’s now four of seven from the field. Salvage the possession. He’s a terrific offensive rebounder. Heel finds Curry. Here’s Moody. Back to Curry from behind the arc. No good on the shot and it’s Detroit the other way. Thompson outside. Kicks it out to Cunningham. Misses the layup. The Warriors shooting just 25% from the field in the first quarter.
