Knicks Coaching Staff Just Got INTERESTING… 👀

Knicks Coaching Staff Just Got INTERESTING… 👀

Knicks fans, we might be getting back a fan favorite. And this time, he’s coming back with a clipboard. Yes, Pablo Pidioni could be headed back to New York. And trust me, this would be big for the culture. Let’s talk about the Knicks next coaching staff move and why this hire could quietly be one of the best of the offseason if it happens. So, Mike Brown is currently building out his Knicks coaching staff. And according to Ian Begley, today, New York has officially received permission to speak with Pablo Pion, who is the current Timberwolves assistant and former Knicks point guard. And Knicks fans, we are hyped about this. If you are a real Knicks fan, you remember Pablo came over from Argentina as a 35-year-old rookie back in 2012. He ran the offense with poise, defense, and that classic Euroep patience. And of course, he played a key bench role during the 54 win season in 2012 2013 under Mike Woodson. But what a lot of people don’t realize is since retiring, Pidgeone has become one of the most respected international coaching minds out there. He was an assistant for team Argentina in multiple international tournaments, a head coach of the Argentine national team in 2022 and now an assistant coach for Chris Finch and the Timberwolves who also just made the Western Conference Finals last season. And keep in mind, they had one of the NBA’s best defenses this past season. This guy is no figurehead. He’s a real X’s and O’s guy with a great reputation for player development and international scouting. The fan base already loves him. That’s a given. But this move would go deeper than nostalgia. First, Pablo has real ties to the organization. He wants to be here. Second is his understanding of international talent. Remember, the Knicks have been targeting overseas guys heavily in recent years. For example, Pakome Dier, Muhammad Diawara, Ariel Hakporti, Gershya Busouselli, and even Roas Yokubitis. And bringing in someone like Pidgei helps connect the dots. He can be that bridge between player development and integration for these international young guys. And let’s not forget he coached Anthony Edwards, Carl Anthony Towns, and Jaden McDaniels up close the past two seasons. That knowledge of player caliber talent, that’s valuable intel for a Knicks team with championship aspirations. And we know Mike Brown is going to assemble a team of guys he trusts. He’s defensive-minded, experienced, and smart. Adding Pidgei, a younger, modern, and international voice, gives balance. This isn’t just about adding a former player. This is about adding someone who understands both old school and new school basketball. a connector between the front office vision and what’s actually happening on the court. And he would be walking into a staff that already includes folks like Richie Fu, who Brown brought over from Sacramento, and possibly more names that we haven’t heard about yet. Now, on the flip side, Ian Begley also reported today that Terry St is staying in Golden State. Some fans floated him as a dream assistant, especially for his offensive sets, but look, that was never likely. He’s already locked in with the Warriors and reportedly isn’t looking to leave, and honestly, that’s totally fine. This staff does not need to be packed with bigname veterans. It needs to be smart, hungry, and aligned with Mike Brown’s vision. If the Knicks land Pablo Pion, that’s a win, plain and simple. But Knicks fans, what do you think about all of this? Would you be hyped to see Pablo Pion back on the bench at MSG? Let me know down in the comments. And hey, who else do you want to see on this new coaching staff? Personally, I would love for it to happen.
