πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί Aussies Gak & Smith Team Up for Wizards Win! | NBA Summer League Vegas Day 10 πŸ€

Good day hoop fans. Welcome back to Vegas for day 10 of the NBA summer league. And what a day we had with five Aussies in action. First up, the Washington Wizards took down the New York Knicks 94 to 85. After playing for Denver in their last summer league game, Rain Smith got the call up for the underman Wizards to play alongside fellow Aussie at Cota Gak. And they almost had a really nice play together too. Pick and roll. Beautiful bounce pass from Smith, but Gak blew the layup. Sometimes the basketball gods aren’t kind. Gak started the game and won the opening tip, then got going early, showing off his handle with a smooth crossover. However, got fouled going to the rim and missed both of his free throws. But then the very next play, his teammate drew the big man out and dished it to a cutting Gak for a thunderous two-headed slam. Gak throws down. Great job by Gak coming down the paint. Catch it and finish it in traffic. Dak had some up and downs throughout the game, missing a few easy ones he’d usually finish, including a potential out of the loop in the second quarter, but he bounced back well. At the end of the second quarter, he made a good cut to the ring and finished the layup strong. Gak in deep, lays it off the glass. Gak finished with eight points on an efficient four of eight shooting, grabbed seven rebounds, including two on the offensive glass, and dished out four assists. One of those assists came off a beautiful give and go inbound play midway through the third followed by this crisp pass to a cutting teammate for a layup. So nice we need to see it twice. Cubid beneficiary of a couple of good passes by G. Later in the game he showed his athleticism sneaking behind the defense for an alleyoop slam. Gak with the finishing touches then immediately forced a steal on the other end. Now the steel and Watkins. Defensively he was active all night including the solid play stripping the ball as the Knicks player tried to cross him over. Rain Smith isn’t afraid to shoot. Give him an inch and he’s firing. He missed the first midi, but it was a good-look shot. And then the very next play, he picked off a pass for a steal. Smith only made one shot tonight out of six attempts, but it was a smooth three-pointer that was nothing but net. He finished with five points, one rebound, one assist, and one steal. But his best work was on defense. On this play, he hustled hard to create the mistake, then dived on the floor to force the turnover. Rain got a couple of freebies at the end of the game when the teams were playing the foul game. He hit both of his free throws, which were pretty much the daggers that ended it, making it a 9-point lead with 16 seconds left. Make sure you catch game two in the next video where we’ve got Rock Sakowski and the Timberwolves in action. Catch you later.
