The Los Angeles Lakers Are Trading Dalton Knecht AGAIN…

The Lakers are trading Daltton Connect again. They tried to strip him away to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Mark Williams, but the trade ultimately got rescended. It didn’t work out and Daltton Connect stayed with the Lakers. But ever since that happened, Dalton Connect’s career with the Lakers have taken a shift because he was always now in trade rumors. Connect has garnered a lot of interest in trade rumors over the season. As a sharp shooter with high upside, the young guard brings a lot to the table, even if his display in the summer league was somewhat underwhelming. The Lakers are trying to trade away Dalton Connect as we speak for a contributing player to a win now mentality team. The Lakers are more likely to pursue a wing defender. While a star caliber player is an unlikely acquisition in this trade package, the purple and gold could look to sign a player capable of contributing to winning right away. The Lakers waved Jordan Goodwin. They also waved Shake Milton to bring in Marcus Smart. But the big rumor is simple. They want to trade away Daltton Connect and Maxi Cleba for a contributing championship player. Now, as just mentioned, Daltton Connect was underwhelming in summer league. There’s a lot of conversation about the importance of summer league but if you’re a secondyear player who has MB experience like Dton Connect you shouldn’t be struggling in this tournament. Summer league has not helped connect stock and I don’t think at this point he is valued as a first round pick in terms of an asset valuation. That’s what I heard in Vegas from talking to multiple people, non-lakers people just gouging what would you give for Dalton connect or if the Lakers are putting D to connect in a trade, what is he worth? And the feedback I got was no longer worth a first round valuation. It is very clear from the Lakers that Dalton Connect is no longer a part of their future and they’re not prioritizing him. But it’s also more sad to note that now he’s not even worth trading away because they wouldn’t even get a first round pick in return, which was originally his value last season. These were Dalton’s numbers during summer league. 10.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists. He shot one of 17 from three during the tournament. And in the summer league game against the Clippers, he shot three of 15 from the field. Dal to connect was supposed to be the best player on the Lakers summer league team and he only put up 10 points per game. Even Bronny James outshined Dalt to connect during summer league and it was clearly evident that Bronnie improved. Da connect is also supposed to improve as well but it actually looked like he got worse. Dalton is only 24 years old. He still has a lot of time to develop. He’s a great shooter off movement and really great in transition. With the Lakers focusing on win now pieces and veterans, he may be the odd man out this season, which is why the Lakers are still going to try to trade him even if he’s losing trade value. And then the Bulls get Kobe Buffkin from Atlanta, Dalton Connect, Gabriel Vincent, and the Lakers unprotected 2031 first round pick swap. The focus player is Jaylen Smith in this deal. He will be a great backup to DeAndre Aiden. They get another center and a veteran guard to continue rounding out their team. Jaylen Smith is one of the best value contracts in the league and will be perfect behind DeAndre Aiden. Jackson Hayes had moments last season, but is not the best option for the backup role on the team. Smith is a huge upgrade on offense and Carter is a solid deep bench option that comes cheap. Right now, a trade like this might not even be possible because of Daltton Connect’s play at summer league, but Daltton Connect’s confidence is what’s going to keep his value. Took a while for me to get going. I mean, I didn’t get going at all. Just got to come out ready to play better tomorrow and come out with more confidence. Shake off the rust. Even as a younger player, Dalta Connect’s maturity and support for his teammates is what every MV franchise is still looking for in any young player. And then as a team, I think my teammates were great. They all came out competing, picking up full court, rebounding, crashing the glass hard. I’m proud of my teammates and they did great. Delta Connect’s class and professionalism is definitely going to continue to stand him out. The truth and sad reality is he’s just not a part of the Lakers main roster anymore with their newly constructed team. Basically, it comes down to the Lakers only have so many assets to trade and D to connect, I think at best next season is an eighth man and probably is an eighth, ninth man. And when thinking about the Lakers trying to get a center or a starting wing, you need to give something up to get that player. The Lakers should target Dylan Brooks from the Phoenix Suns. He would be a prime time wing defender that would really elevate their championship odds. Dalton Connect, Maxi Cleba, Gabe Vincent, and their 2031st first round pick in exchange for Dylan Brooks and Nick Richards. Dylan Brooks is known all around the NBA as a hardnosed defender who can captain a defense and hold his own on offense. Brooks would instantly become the best wing defender on the Lakers roster. Something they desperately need to upgrade if they are planning to play Luca and LeBron James together, especially even after losing Dorian Finny Smith to the Houston Rockets. I would love to see Dylan Brooks on the Lakers, especially even in the starting lineup over Ruhachimura. Even getting Nick Richards in this trade would be great as a backup to Aiden. This trade is under a best case scenario situation. The Lakers are also eyeing Drew Holiday from the Portland Trailblazers right now because even though Drew Holiday is out of his prime, being a backup point guard on a championship team could really give them good chances at really competing. Dalton Connect, Gabriel Vincent, and Maxi Cleba for Drew Holiday. It’s a simple threeforone trade that could get the deal done. The Lakers can also bring back Contavius Cowwell Pope now that he’s on the Memphis Grizzlies. The Lakers should do whatever they can to try to get KCP back before he plays and puts on a Memphis jersey. We all know what KCP brings to the table. He’s a great 3 and D player. He even shot 40% from three last year playing with the Orlando Magic. Daltton Connect and Maxi Cleba for KCP. This is my favorite deal. The Lakers bring back a former champ with the squad and then of course elevate their defense and perimeter shooting.
