Salary Cap Breakdown – LA Clippers

The LA Clippers started free agency with an interesting trade. They sent Norman Powell, coming off the best season of his career, to the Miami Heat and got back John Collins from the Utah Jazz. Now, why would they do that? Well, it wasn’t long after that the Phoenix Suns bought out and stretched Bradley Beal’s remaining contract, allowing him to sign with the team of his choosing. More on that situation in the next video. Nonetheless, Beal chose the Clippers, who offered a $5 million contract for next season. Now with this new money on the books, they chose not to bring back several players from last season, including Ben Simmons, Patty Mills, and Amir Coffee. But they still had a few more moves left. They also acquired veteran center Brooke Lopez in free agency, as well as veteran point guard Chris Paul, who was also a free agent. And then they drafted Yannik Conan Neerhauser with the 30th pick in the draft. Finally, they gave a new contract to Nick Batum, and they renegotiate and extended with James Harden, giving him a little more this next season and a player option the season after next. So, heading into this next season, the Clippers once again find themselves in the luxury tax with the oldest team in the league by far. Can they make it through the season in one piece, or will the wheels fall off yet again?

Here’s what the LA Clippers salary cap looks like heading into next season!
