He’s a homegrown star who averaged 24 points a game last year. And the most you can offer is really a one-year contract for MLE money. It’s insane. I’ve never seen a team who seemingly wants to keep their young star less. even if you’re in the camp that he’s an inefficient shot chucker, which I’m not. Guys talked about the same way like Jaylen Green and Jordan Pool got over 30 million annually on their deals. But like we saw from Cam himself on Twitter last week, I think this narrative is tired and untrue. Thomas is one of 12 guards that averaged at least 24 points and 3.8 assists while shooting at least 43.8% from the field last season. along with guys like Donovan Mitchell and Steph Curry. He’s not just an inefficient shot chucker. This is real scoring talent and he was doing it on a team that gave no help around him. Other teams obviously know it too as he was doubleteamed the fourth most of any player in the league last season. Cam has more 40point games than Jimmy Butler, Kawhi Leonard, Gary Payton, Manu Jenobily, Joe Johnson, Tim Duncan, and Scotty Pippen. He’s the youngest player to do it in three straight games. He’s only 23 years old and has gotten better every season with more opportunity. I’m just not sure how the Nets don’t recognize this is a star. This is yet another example of why restricted free agency sucks, but that’s a whole other video entirely. I hope the Pistons news is accurate.
