Jalen & Josh Explain How Much The New Additions Help The Knicks
What were you guys What were you guys’ thoughts when uh when you saw the JC sign cuz Josh, you guys played together in LA, right? Yeah. Um I was excited. I mean, great dude going to fit right into the culture that we have. Obviously something that can create his own shot. Um can you know break down the defense, you know, and we needed that at times uh you know last year. So, he’ll be a great addition um in terms of role and also um you know as a as a locker room guy. Do you know him at all, Joe? Oh, yeah. I know um I I know him. Uh I don’t obviously close him and Josh, but I know him. Talked to him for a little bit. Um good dude. He surrounds himself with some good people that I know. Um a great addition for us for sure. Guys, I feel like you add, like you said, Josh, you guys added so much depth this off seasonason. I mean, even just him and him and Gershon is like it’s it’s a game changer. Yeah. I mean, Josh, what’s his last name? Yazab Yazabulli. You see, I got I got to figure out something for his first name, but Yaz what is it regularly? Yaz Y. What is it? Yelli. Yeah. No, y’all pronouncing it wrong. Yeah. Yasi. There you go. So that’s Yasely. Yasi. I like that one. Do Do the last one. Do the last one. Y. I like that one. I like that one. Yeah, we up. You got it. Next TW. Y. We up. The big bustling. Um, yeah, that’d be cool. And also he you know what when he broke out what Olympics like two years ago hooping and then you know and I’m actually curious cuz I remember like JB I don’t know if if you know but like or Matt the the report was like he was able to sign here for like you know with the sixes for a certain amount of money but he had to get pay his own buyout. So he like apparently he didn’t play play last year for much money and it was really just like for for the chance of being in the league. So you you had that kind of hunger also. That’s what’s up. Yeah. And I also I don’t know the like exact mechanics but I think he had taken maybe a little bit less with you guys. Maybe like less than the vet men or something so that and that helped you guys maybe get JC or something. I forget exactly what it was but I I don’t think he’s on a I don’t think he’s on a vet minimum. I think he took less than what he could to help like a couple of events, something like that. Yeah. Yeah. Which I mean obviously not having been on the team like it’s one thing to to have been on the team get a taste of the culture whatever and then do that but first year to do it like he clearly wants to be a part of it, wants to win. And it’s kind kind of about, you know, our situation, but also like, you know, we can talk about it more in uh around the league is like that second apron where it’s like dudes are figuring out ways to to avoid that second apron by like any cost. Like even like the like you’re saying guys now normally no one really gets a buyout until like you got one year remaining on your deal and it’s after trade deadline and y’all come to like some type of agreement. Now it’s like you’re seeing guys get bought out now. You’re seeing guys get waved and stretched and it’s with you know a massive amount of money on the contract. So it’s like that second apron, bro, is like it’s like the grim reaper right now. I mean, look at Dame. Facts. Crazy. Yeah, I saw that. I was like, what? It was funny. It was funny cuz I talked to uh JB. I think you met him before, Steve. Uh Stephen Hume, who’s at CA, and and he was like, “Yeah, I think you’re going to see stuff like, you know, people getting like, you know, buyouts and and and waves and stretch um you know, more more frequently.” And literally the next day, like it was Dame. I called him back. I’m like, “Bro, I this is outrageous. I know you said it, but like this this is Dame. Like this Damen Lillard.” And it’s just the the stuff that’s going on now is just just crazy. I I feel like this there’s going to be some some changes to that CBA whenever it comes back up. But um it it’s it’s interesting especially the free agency because you see like me I mean JB me and you talked about you see like you know some of these people getting like vet minimum to like 4 million or whatever and then you see like the scale like people getting like super maxes and getting like 60 70 million a year and it’s like you know the dudes that are like 10 million to $25 million dollar guys. It’s like, you know, you just got to see what happens or like how things shake out, which is just which is crazy. So hopefully there’s like something that obviously rewards everybody um you know, and doesn’t leave like a certain um class, a certain role of guys kind of being left out like what’s going on. I saw in 26 27 OKC is going to be 25 million over the second apron. They they gonna make they’re going to be some stuff that uh that happens for them. They got their main guys. They’re they’re in a kind of a good situation with like how their re their rebuild is because obviously when that comes you know when that year comes up they’re going to like they got a couple guys that have like team options that you know you know most likely won’t be there how that money shakes out cuz you have your three main max guys but they have so many first round picks and so many draft picks where it’s like you can you can kind of get by with, you know, some of these young dudes that are that are playing very well that are on these small contracts. You can sit there and package three first round picks and get a lottery pick and rock out with this lottery pick whose performance, you know, he’s performing like a 20 $30 million guy, but he’s on a a rookie deal and making like eight. So that they’re in like a good position where it’s like the off like the opposite end of the spectrum was like how Phoenix was where it’s like they were so hard capped, but they didn’t really have young guys. They didn’t really have the assets and they were trying to like figure it out and just fill out a roster. Well, I think OKC is though to be the the total opposite which you know you know credit to them. It’s me interesting. What was that? Hey man, holl at me, bro. There it is. That’s what you’re waiting. That’s what he was holding the entire time. Z, I’mma call you, bro. Just pick my call up. All right.
