Miami Heat Summer League Team Struggles | Kasparas Jakućionis Returns | Kel’el Ware Done w/ Vegas
Hey, welcome on in guys. Tobin here with you and thanks for checking out the channel. I hope everybody’s doing well out there. If you guys could subscribe, that’d be great and appreciate you stopping by. Oh, that summer league game. I’m telling you, dude, this has been a tough summer to watch. It has been a I I I genuinely do look forward to summer league games. I I do. Um, this has not been a fun product to watch this year. This has not been a an exciting team. And I I don’t know what I was really expecting today. I I didn’t know that Miami was up until uh Ira and Anthony reported it. I think it was like an hour before tip off that Kelwar had finished his time with Vegas. All it took was a couple double doubles, Kle. And you finally got out of there, dude. That’s all they wanted. But uh Kell Wear’s done, no longer in Vegas, no longer playing with the summer league team. Kesha Johnson is, but he did not play today. And Pella Larson, we know he went off to Sweden. So you really only had like I mean, you know, the the big thing we were all tuning into today was all right. Well, we hadn’t seen in a game Casper’s Yakonis, and that to me was what I was tuning in for. Maybe a little Vlad Golden, see what he could do. See if Stevenson could keep a shooting going. Um, but that was about it. The only other cool story, uh, Myron Gardner messed up his finger and he was back and he he actually put probably put up the best game today. So that’s kind of a one to to to put on note. I think Bryson Warren was hurt. I think he had a hamstring injury. So yeah, it dude this first quarter was so bad. The Miami Heat were outscored 32-5. They were three of 15 from the field. I was really like this was definitely one of those days where I’m like I could be doing anything with my day right now. I could be lounging out. I could be doing some yard work. I could be playing Smash Bros with my with my son. I could be looking at uh Lab Boooos with with my daughter. I could be being a better father and instead I’m watching the Miami Heat go three for 15 in the first quarter of the summer league. And I thought to myself, what am I doing with my life? What am I doing with my life? That’s what I thought. I I genuinely was having those feelings. I was like, I I need to re-evaluate things because I know I’m going to do a recap on this later, which got delayed a little bit. This is up later. I did watch this game live. Um I had a I had a pet emergency today. I said this in the other video that I did today, but I had a pet emergency today. My poor little Sunny Bunny, she got something in her eye. I had to take her to the doctor because the doctor was like, “Hey, don’t mess around with eyes.” So, I I took her. Thankfully, she’s going to be okay. We got the the right medicine for her. She unfortunately has to wear a cone, which I I nothing feel nothing I feel worse for than a dog than having to wear a cone. Like, you know, we don’t ever have to What do you have to go to? Maybe if you if you get like a neck something, we never have to have something embarrassing, a satellite dish put around our our head so we don’t scratch ourselves. But anyway, I digress. I did watch my point is I watched this game live and I greatly regret it. Um so you know the first half wasn’t you it was better you know the Heat played better and uh you know were were these these quarters were actually closer but they never made up ground. They never made a run to do anything of note in this game. The only thing is and and and Yakonis did not have a good first half. Um, you know, and not that he had like a lot of support to either, but he was one of seven to start the game. Uh, he was 0 of three from downtown. He had a few turnovers. They were pressuring him. Uh, he was doing the thing where he’d yak up the ball and then goes in. He he I tell you what Yakonas is the king of of summer league. He’s the king of giving up a turnover and then going and fouling the person he turned that ball over to on the fast break and it being an and one. like he is he it’s always an animal and it’s like all right yeah just let it go Caspers just just let it go dude but it’s uh you know it it the one thing that was encouraging about it is in the second half Yakonis really turned it on and he played a lot better. He played a lot better in spite of Miami being down 16 at the break um and not feeling like they had any momentum. Yakon is really starting to find his groove a little bit. Um, we got to see him. I I mean, listen, he does some fancy stuff at the top of the key, man. He really does. Like, when he wants to to put a defender on skates, and I think he really determines it. Like, we’ve seen him really juke some guys. We’ve seen him uh have some people in some funky positions. Um, you know, but but he typically has to make that happen first when he gets that that look of pressure sometimes. Sometimes it’s like deer in headlights. And you know I to be fair like this was not a great team around him. So unless he was going to go in there and start hitting step back threes like he did in the the Viva Cost Vegas game, you know, I I I I wasn’t expecting much. But I did see a guy who looked way better in the second half of this game than he did in the first. And so that was an encouraging sign from the young fella. Um but it it was definitely a game that had some warts. It was definitely a game that, you know, took a little bit of uh of of it took a lot of willpower to get through this game, but his second half was, you know, he finished, what do he finish his second half? 305, nine points, one of three from downtown. Um, only had two turnovers, but had two steals. That’s another thing that I like about Casperis. We’ve seen a guy who in spite of not having the greatest offensive run here in Vegas in California, certainly California, um love the way that he plays on defense. I love how he he is uh always willing to take the challenge. He doesn’t back down. He’s not a turn style. He plays hard. Um you know, is is diving all over. I really felt like he was for a Heat team that it felt like they were ready to to kind of go down with a ship. I felt like he was playing his ass off no matter the score. And so those were kind of like the intentables that you love seeing, especially from a first round pick. I thought that he brought that from a leadership standpoint. The Heat wrap up pre uh summer league on Friday against the Milwaukee Bucks. I I maybe we’ll see key, you know, maybe if if Casper is going to play, it’s possible Coach Glass maybe like wants Keshot in there just to give him a little bit of comfort, a little relief, give him somebody else to to to to throw the ball into. Not a very impressive game for Vladislav Golden, uh other than a dude trucking him and that led to some chicainery. um you know the the bigs uh Balow and uh Dane Dana you know nobody’s really kind of stood out of those those pockets and Vlad’s had some mo he’s had the most big moments I would say um but today was not one of those that was was exactly one you’d probably want to write home about if I was him he was he was no great shakes today but just as a team they weren’t you So for Casperis, you know, you’d love to see him bounce back with one more big game to kind of ride off into the summer. That’s kind of I think the big thing we’re looking for if he plays. I’d imagine that he does, you know, then he’s going to he’s not playing with Lithuania, mind you. So I imagine he’s going to get back to Miami. He’s probably going to settle down a little bit, maybe hang out with Andrew Wiggins. Who knows? And DaVon Mitchell said that he’s got a he’s going to have a talk with him about some stuff. At least he said he was at that one meeting says he’s going to have a conversation with the uh with the Lithuanian rookie and uh yeah, you know, you know, from his standpoint, it definitely was an uneven summer so far. I guess we’ll give the full totality and evaluation. It was good though that he had the one performance that you’re like, “Oh, you see, all right, when the kid knocks down some shots, he plays with a different swagger and you can see you can see what this looks like at its best.” And and and definitely when he has that support around him and that was, mind you, pre uh Khalware call out and pre you know, him playing his ass off, like he didn’t really get that version of it. So, I you know, I’d be curious to see what he does with like some real big talent around him. Curious to see what he would be looking like playing with Nicole Yoic as well. That stuff really really intrigues me. But this summer league has not gone as swimmingly as the last one. We could say that this has not been a uh this has not been a great repeat effort. This is feeling very 20067ish with trying to uh with trying to repeat after the ’06 championship. But uh hey, it’s summer league. You know, ultimately a lot of this stuff is uh is just to get these guys ready. I haven’t seen the one thing and I’ve said this repeatedly is I have not seen anybody outside of the guys who already have deals that you’re like wow this guy needs like and and there’s been years where that’s happened where like Omar Yurtzan I mean Omar Yurtzan was basically like summer league wilt and remember the Miami Heat I don’t even think I don’t even think they had him on two-way at the time maybe they had him on a two-way I think they had him on a 10 man what did they have him on I I remember there was urgency in having to sign him to a deal because he was putting up like ridiculous numbers. H let’s look it up real quick. And the Heat ended up signing him to a two-year deal. Uh which yeah, he never really other than like that one little run with Lowry where Bam was hurt. You know, he never really flourished. Summer league numbers. Uh, summer league stats. Omar Yurtzan in three games in the summer league in 21-22 averaged 26 points, 10.4 rebounds. No, I that up. Let me read statistics correctly. 20 points a game, just a tick under 10 rebounds, 1.3 steals per game, a little under three blocks per game. Very impressive. That was a summer league. That was a summer leager for the Miami Heat. Very impressive. I wouldn’t say the Miami Heat have any of those guys that none of those none of those guys stood out. Nobody has had had come out of the woodwork and been like, “Hey, even last year with Isaiah Stevens and Josh I know Josh Christopher was with the Heat for a long time, but came along and you’re just like, they can’t let this guy go. They can’t let this guy go. They can’t let this guy go.” Just didn’t have that talent pool this year. Now, to be fair, probably the roster that had as many regulars that you’re like, “All right, you know, Kell is going to get some minutes. We know Pella’s going to get some minutes. We think Khan’s going to get some minutes. Casper Jakacho is probably gonna get some minutes. Um, and then we’ll see what happens with Vlad Golden. Seems like he’s gonna have a lot of time in Sou Falls, I would guess. But this So there’s there’s a reason I mean like that, you know, there’s probably less opportunity. You probably went into last year being like, “All right, Kell, Pella, who else is going to step up?” And then we got to learn of Kesha, Josh Christopher, Isaiah Stevens, um, Alandis Williams, and this roster just, uh, yeah, none of those guys have popped. you know, there’s been like little bit of Javvante Cook, there’ve been a little bit of Kyra Lewis, there’s been a little bit of um you know, moments of Dane Danger, but Bryson Warren, a little bit, but you know, it definitely has not been a summer that’s popped like the past ones have. So, but that’s okay. That’s okay. We’re winding this puppy down and then we could start counting down the counting down the days till
Tobin discusses the Miami Heat summer league squad finishing up their run without Kel’el Ware whose Vegas run is done, Pelle Larsson who joined team Sweden and Keshad Johnson being with the team but not getting playing time to give others a chance. The lone attraction was first round pick Kasparas Jakućionis. Miami struggled out of the gate and couldn’t get back in it. Why has this squad been so much less impressive than last year’s team?

you should hvae 2 mil subs!
Kraparas Brickucionis putting up Terryble Rozier stat lines. 💪 👏
This version of the summer league team is pure ass
Kas, and all the bigs need to go to the Falls. Wouldn't be opposed to developing at least a few bigs from the SL team They're cheap and can learn the Heat way from scratch
I don't think we should be as excited for Kas the way people have been hyping him. I'm not sure that he's going to be that good 🤷🏽
Harold Miner was hyped as well after the 1992 draft and it ended up being a wasted pick
Why do you make those stupid noises?
KJ is 6'6, he supposed to be dominating pgs.
Yeah, this year has been terrible. I don't know if this was the last game or not, but I'll just wait until the regular season.
Those Gleague guys are better than our 20th pick
2024: summer league champs, regular season bums
2025: summer league bums, regular szn champs. terry rozier finals MVP
Kasparas Thejokeisonus is a bust
Kas doesn't look like he belongs. The guards seemed overwhelmed by other teams talent. Goldin looked serviceable but with no guards facilitating the offense no big can shine out there. Steven can shoot but do nothing else.
I'm not one to play the
BLAME GAME, but I think it's the coach…. The past Summer League coaches seemed to have more of a better way to utilize the players.. but I see good potential in
VLAD GODIN,
KASPER will be ok….
Stevenson was ok,
Bad product then. Don’t blame these guys, a mix of young inexperienced and undrafted players. Product may bad due to lack of talent, being soft is what worries me.
Young dudes deserve patience, specially when showing the right attitude and that they’re committed to work. More is gravy. Wish these guys the best
Kasparov yak is a good point guard grade draft pick by Miami
Viva Kas Vegas… 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
Meh, none of this shit matters.
