Knicks The FAVORITES To Land Former MVP! NY Receives HUGE UPDATE On Free Agency Target | Knicks News

The Knicks are the favorites to sign former MVP Russell Westbrook. Also, an NBA GM recently shut down reports that the Knicks main free agent target will join this team. We’re going to break down all of these latest reports today. If you’re enjoying the content, please hit that subscribe button and have notifications turned on so you don’t miss any new content. And now, let’s get started. The Knicks are the favorites to land a former MVP. Everyone wants to know who the Knicks will use that final vet minimum contract on. Everyone has their favorites. But if you’re asking the odd makers over at Bulvvada official, they have the Knicks signing former MVP Russell Westbrook. Shout out to Bulvvada official and Sports Illustrated for giving us this following information. According to them, and this was reported yesterday afternoon, Bovana has the Knicks as the odds on favorite to sign former MVP Russell Westbrook at plus 250. The Kings, who have been linked to Westbrook even before they landed Dennis Schroeder, have the next best odds at plus 350. But you see, the thing with odds are they switch all the time. One day the Knicks are on top, the next day the Knicks fall to second place. And that’s exactly what happened when Bovvada official released the newest update on what team would land Russell Westbrook in free agency. Shout out to NBA Central and Bovada official for giving us this following information here. These odds came out today and according to them, the Sacramento Kings are now the current favorites to win the Russell Westbrook sweep stakes. They’re currently at plus 150. The New York Knicks are now right underneath them at plus 350. Then you got the Bucks at plus400, the Miami Heat at plus 600, the Mavericks at 800, and so on and so forth. No matter how you’re looking at it, whether you’re taking yesterday’s odds or you’re taking today’s odds, either way, the Knicks are one of the favorite teams to sign Russell Westbrook in free agency. But honestly, when you look back at all of the reporting, that really doesn’t make sense. Now, don’t get me wrong. If Westbrook wants to come here and he’ll accept the vet minimum, and he’ll also accept a lesser role and less playing time, you can sign me up immediately. I would sign Russell Westbrook to this team ASAP. He gives the Knicks a lot of what they’re looking for. You need a veteran guard, check. You need somebody with unwavering competitiveness, check. You need somebody to motivate your team. When you’re down, when the team thinks they’re out of the game, he’s going to do that. That’s another check. Playoff experience, that’s a check. Former league MVP and triple double machine gives you a little bit of everything, no matter where he’s playing and no matter how long he’s playing. That’s why for me, if New York can sign Russell Westbrook in free agency, and do it at the minimum, no less, it will be an absolute steal for all of the reasons that I just listed. But even more than that, his competitive nature alone will push this team further than they’ve ever been before. And you need players like that on your team. So, if the Knicks are one of the favorites to land Russell Westbrook and sign him in free agency, and clearly Vegas knows something that we don’t, then what’s the holdup? Why haven’t the Knicks gone out and signed Russell Westbrook yet? Well, if we go back to a report that I covered back on July 8th from Clutch Points NBA insider Brett Seagull, you’ll see here that he reported that the Knicks are no longer as interested as they were early on in free agency in Russell Westbrook. Now, we got to remember that report came out on July 8th. That was a long time ago. And since then, a number of different free agent targets that the Knicks had have come off the board. Now, maybe that’s pushing the Knicks to go back to other free agent targets that maybe they weren’t as interested in before that now maybe they are interested in again. And Westbrook would clearly fit that build. Initially, Westbrook wanted to come to New York and New York was interested in adding Russell Westbrook. That all changed once the Knicks added Jordan Clarkson and Gerson Yabaselli. Now, we really don’t know how the Knicks feel about adding Westbrook or how Westbrook feels about joining the Knicks. But if you’re listening to Vegas, clearly something is there. Potentially sometime in the future, New York will add Westbrook to this team. But what’s the holdup? Why have the Knicks not made any moves in free agency at this point in time? I think we all know why. Who is the Knicks main target in free agency right now? It’s Ben Simmons. And when is he supposed to make his decision on the team he wants to join? That’s next week. So because of that, a lot of NBA teams are waiting for Simmons to make his decision before they look at other free agents, other free agents like Russell Westbrook. So as of right now, the main reason that Westbrook has not been signed to another team is because Ben Simmons is holding up the free agent market. Shout out to NBA Central on the App X for giving us this following information. As you can see here, NBA insider with Yahoo Sports, Jake L Fischer, stated the following. Ben Simmons pending decision in free agency is reportedly holding up the market for Russell Westbrook. And the funny part about all of that is Westbrook and Ben Simmons currently are two of the Knicks key targets in free agency. And one of those targets, Ben Simmons, is holding up the other target. Russell Westbrook. You couldn’t script it better than this, but this is legitimately where we are. And we know given all of the reports that have come out, all the conversations that New York has had with Ben Simmons right now, that’s who they’re waiting on. They’re waiting to give that vet minimum contract to Ben Simmons if he wants to join this Knicks team. But if you go back to that other slide, you can see there Bovvada official, they have been very busy lately. Not only have they given us the odds for the Knicks signing Russell Westbrook, they’ve also given us the odds on who’s going to sign Ben Simmons. And now on the top of that list is the Boston Celtics at plus 185. Then the Phoenix Suns at plus 255. Then the New York Knicks at plus 375. The Knicks used to be number one. Then they used to be number two. Now they’re number three. Actually tied for three with the Kings. So potentially tomorrow they could be four, go to five, and fall further and further. I’m sorry. I can’t hide it. The smile is just on my face from these reports. I’ve been going back and forth about Ben Simmons and him joining this team. I don’t want him on this team. I do not think we need another liability, especially a shooting liability coming off the bench. I would rather him go to another team, the Boston Celtics, the Phoenix Suns, the Sacramento Kings, go to any other team besides this Knicks team. We do not need him on this roster. And honestly, between Westbrook and Simmons, I would go with Westbrook each and every time. Now, I understand in terms of his shooting, he’s not a great shooter, but he’s not scared to shoot. He will shoot if he’s open and he’ll always drive. He’s aggressive. I understand his shooting is a little bit of a liability, but because he’s not scared of the moment, his experience and his competitive nature, he is a plus in every single way over Ben Simmons. And thankfully, at least for me, an NBA GM recently spoke about the Knicks chances of adding Ben Simmons to this team. And according to this GM, he shut all of it down. He said, “The Knicks do not need another liability like Ben Simmons playing under coach Mike Brown because under Mike Brown, New York wants to utilize the entire roster and they would not be able to do that if Ben Simmons was on the team.” Shout out to Shawn Deany of Athlon Sports for giving us this following information. In one of his latest reports, he spoke to an NBA GM and this anonymous general manager stated the following about the Knicks chances to land Ben Simmons. According to him, of the places Simmons could land, the Knicks would be at the bottom of that list. They are a long shot. He does not want the scrutiny and they want to have the room to use the whole roster. That’s one reason they got rid of Tom Thibido. If you’re bringing in a veteran who is hurt half the season, it’s going to prevent you from seeing what you’ve got with your young guys. A couple of weeks ago, a Knicks insider shut down Ben Simmons joining the Knicks. Now, we have an anonymous general manager doing the exact same thing. Do I think the Knicks are interested in adding Ben Simmons? I do. Do I think Simmons is interested in coming to New York? In a small way, yes. In a large way, I don’t think so. For two reasons. Number one, the money. He doesn’t want the vet minimum. He wants more money than that. That’s why I’m thinking it’s either going to be the Celtics or the Kings that actually end up signing him. Number two, it’s the scrutiny. If he joins the Knicks and he doesn’t do well, he doesn’t perform, it won’t even take five games before all the reports start coming out, maybe the Knicks should trade him. Maybe the Knicks should bench him. Maybe the Knicks should play Tyler Kle over Ben Simmons. Maybe they shouldn’t use Ben Simmons for the rest of the season. Why did they waste a roster spot going after Simmons? You can already see the headlines. And I’m not sure Ben Simmons really wants to handle that. And that means he’ll stay away from the Knicks, giving the Knicks access to use that vet minimum contract on another player. And hopefully that player will be Russell Westbrook. Now, I thought that was off the table, but clearly the odd makers at Bovana official Las Vegas, they don’t think so. They still believe the Knicks have a chance to sign former MVP Russell Westbrook in free agency and I hope they’re able to do that. Clearly, New York is still looking for a veteran guard to add to this roster. But what about you guys? What do you think about the Knicks being one of the favorites to land Russell Westbrook in free agency? 1. Russell Westbrook makes a lot of sense. Anyone with basketball common sense remembers Pacers full court press defense killed Brunson and the Knicks. You cannot full court press Westbrook.

  2. Westbrook still has a little sumptin, sumptin in his tank are we gonna go back and forth until November πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  3. Please get Russell Westbrook (Brody) to New York off the bench. Let's Go Knicks!
    πŸ”ΆοΈπŸ”·οΈπŸ—½πŸ€

  4. I didn't want either player. Westbrook is older, can't shoot and his playmaking can be erratic. Ben Simmons is afraid to shoot, has no heart or desire to win. You know NBA FA is in trouble if Ben Simmons is holding things up.

  5. I think Westbrook has got to be a better choice than BS. Idk but for the minimum I just think Westbrook could be a decent vet for the young bench.

  6. Please let this happen πŸ™ Westbrook and Hart combo would bring so much energy and drive opposing teams nutsπŸ˜‚

  7. russ would help us immensly if we were to make it to the finals and play against the thunder

  8. They already said Russ was very unlikely so how is it likely all of a sudden? The favorites? Now watch we won't get him πŸ’€

So if the Kings are the current favorite why we even hearing & talking about it 😭 we not getting him & why the hell we waiting for Simmons over Russ, Russ way better in every way & I love how I said that & after I said I heard you said exactly what I said, we don't need another liability & Russ is better in every way.
