π¨ BREAKING NEWS π¨ Victor Wembanyama CLEARED to return to basketball activities | NBA Today
We do have some breaking news out of San Antonio. Victor Wanyama says he’s officially been cleared to return after dealing with a blood clot in his shoulder. Here’s what he told reporters at Leip over the weekend. Quote, I’m officially cleared to return. It just happened. I got the green light from the Spurs medical staff just a few hours ago. Phew. I’m finally able to play a bit of basketball together. All right. Everyone has said that he could be the best player in the world at some point. Now that’s health. His health is back in order here and that scare is behind him. Is he finally going to be able to reach that designation this season? I mean, if he gets in the conversation this season, that is a tremendous development for the Spurs. And look, he has shown he’s the best defensive player in the world right now. Uh offensively, he’s still very much a work in progress, a a developing prospect. They’ve added some pieces around him. They’ve got a really impressive young core for Wimi and for the Spurs. He doesn’t have to make a leap to the top. They’re not going to make a leap to the top this year. You want them to get in the thick of things in the Western Conference to be competitive to compete for a playoff spot. So Mark, we saw Dylan Harper in that highlight. He looked really good in that game. They’ve got Dylan Harper. They’ve got the reigning rookie of the year, Stefan Castle. De’Arren Fox is there. They do have some pieces kind of being pushed. Yeah, look, his roster is great. There’s there’s no wasted roster spots. I I expect them to take a leap. He has so much talent around him now that he doesn’t have to put the entire franchise on his back. Yes, he is a star of this team, but like if Vassel’s coming off the bench, Barnes coming off the bench, like you got two rookies that I expect to make an immediate impact on this team, I’m I’m expecting big things from the Spurs. Yeah. And look, they always do a really good job of development, I would say, as well when when you think about it, like look at historically, they’re one of the teams that has done a fantastic job mining the G-League over their history. You know, the Austin Spurs, you always have guys called being called up. They got this guy Jones Garcia who I saw balling out at summer league. That’s a guy, even though the back court is crowded. Could be someone you have there. All right, UD, what do you think? I mean, I love the roster. I love And also, let’s not forget about bringing Lucette over from uh Boston and what he was able to do in the playoffs for those guys. So, that’s another guy who has championship, you know, experience and, you know, has that expectation, knows what it’s like to be in a locker room like that. So, I love the pieces and everything they put around him. I love what Victor is able to do offensively and of course what he’s able to do defensively. I would love for him to cut those threes down. I know he shoots around eight or nine threes. I’m a little old school. I want him to get in there and dominate a little bit more with his size, but you know, sky’s is the limit for Victor Winyama. Um, I just think this team needs a couple more mango seasons. You know, you out there in the West and everybody is continuously getting better and um, you know, it’s it’s a lot of ground for those guys to make up from where they were last year even though they added those pieces as the West continues to get better. Well, and I think there’s such a great unknown to this roster. I think just because they traded for Darren Fox in February and we really saw a limited body of work with him and and Victor Webeyama here. And I think there is a newness and the only way is to get better when you’re in the Western Conference if you don’t improve your roster. And I think San Antonio did that in the draft suddenly with their two picks led by Dylan Harper and then Luke Cornette and then they get Kelly Kelly Olen in a trade. They did get better, but is that good enough to get into that top six of the Western Conference? And I think there’s the great unknown for that. Yeah. [Music] [Applause] Jimmy with the heat. I’m on fire on the

Iβm 27ppg π
LETS GO SPURS, WE SET BABYYYYY
They are getting in one of those top 6 spots if not this year definitely next year.
Bruh wasn't never injured or sick spurs was tanking for draft picks get real.
Go victor go
First year he dominated everybody…
…I get it the spurs haven't done anything they need to prove what they can be this season…I'm a little biased cause I'm a spurs fan but I see what they could of done last season without injuries…and they just improved the roster I think they're 11 player's deep right now…if vassell buy's into leading the bench unit…I'm saying we're a top 5 team… Spurs have every piece they need to make a deep playoff run…
FREAK NATURE 7'5, 8 wingspan point guard skills π₯π₯π₯π₯
Bro went to the Wu-tang clan dungeon and now he clot free those dudes dont play
Spurs need to trade Kelvin Johnson for Jonathan Issac fox for mpj get dalano banton bolbol in Free agency
Wemby is not developing prospect ππ heβs already a pro offensively and defensively
I am glad heβs able to return and has recovered
Yay!!!ππ Can't wait for Wemby to come back on the court!! GSG!!!
Like mark said If mitch looks to last year we were winning alot games when julian was starting and devin coming off the bench so hopefully he starts Spurs death squad with fox castle julian jeremy and wemby….the solid bench dylan devin kj barnes and kornet that surrounds dylan with alot talent to still win ROTY π― but gives devin freedom to be leader off bench with kj and barnes backing him up….everyone easy averages double figures the okc pacers route 10 man deep π― number 2 in west if healthy and run death squad π―π₯Spurs invasion begins next year
0:52 Work in progress? Dude has a highlight reel from his rookie season alone that can put most nba careers to shame. Man, these aren't experts. These are fools peddling people-pleaser nothing-speak tryna sound like a relevant authority.
He is only a work in progress in the same sense that any athlete would (or should) be a continuous work in progress as a default expectation. He wants to continue to improve and learn and grow. As should we all.
But he is already entangling with all the bests out there and unless you've been under a rock he is constantly in the conversation.
Who exactly are they trying to posture for like if anyone catches a sniff of 'glaze' they fear losing their credibility? Quit being a __ when the stats back up the claim just assert it and fk what you think the world thinks. Be bold ffs.
They saying all this "he's still developing", "they aren't winning that much" – they dont like that San Antonio is on the come up
"Work in progress" yeah would have been all NBA 1st team and DPOY last year as a sophmore averaging around 25 points a game.
Hoping we're a top 3 seed this year- possible if healthy
Wembanyama can now save energy on defense, so is less tired on attack and can rest with less impact on the game. A win-win situation.
Glad Brian Windhorst is not talking
this commentary is so out of touch lol
Most overrated player in NBA history. Along with Westbrook and Carmelo
These times is what makes me miss Stephen A. Smith ffs.
He ain't lying about the west competition. If everyone can stay healthy (which is a big IF), this might be the most stacked western conference in the history of the NBA.
The Spurs are quietly building a team to beat the Thunder. SGA, Williams, and Dort are basically big guards playing together with Holmgren . The Fox, Castle, and Harper combination will work. Besides, Harper and Castle could use more experience in the league.
Developing prospect ππ
Hopefully when he had wasn't life-threatening like what happened to Chris Bosh because Wemby is an absolute amazing talent π―ππ½ππ½
With Fox passing him the rock he might touch 30 points/game!!!!!
