This Isaiah Collier stat is SHOCKING
I came across an Isaiah Collier stat that was pretty crazy. Let’s talk about it. It’s the Hoops nerd show. [Music] All right, guys. Like always, like the video, subscribe to the channel. Okay. So, I was writing and working on an on a Bryce Sensaba piece, actually, not Isaiah Collier. I had a hunch about something with Bryce Sensib that I’ve been watching closely. If you follow this channel, you know I’ve talked about it a little bit. It was turnover percentage. And I went to go check the league leaders in turnover percentage. And I was surprised at what I found. Both that Bryce Sensah was not at the top of turnover percentage, but someone else was. Here, let me show you. There it is. At the top of the list in the entire NBA, and he qualifies with minutes played is Isaiah Collier at a 25% turnover percentage. It’s really high. It’s a lot. And I was just kind of shocked that he’s there at the top turning the ball over 25% of the time on these possessions. It’s no wonder that the Jazz have such a high turnover percentage last year, and it’s no wonder they lost so many games. Isaiah Collier does a lot of really good things, but one thing that he is doing a lot of is turning the ball over and it’s pretty surprising because there were times last year where it looked pretty good and then there were times where it was just high. Now, to give Isaiah Collier a little bit of grace, we’ve got to remember that he is a lead ball handler and he is a young guard learning the NBA system and just learning to play in the NBA. It’s really hard to do. And he has, you know, a real gift for passing the ball. He had the assist record for a rookie broken for the Utah Jazz. Really impressive considering John Stockton was on the Utah Jazz and things like that. But I think there’s some things we’ve got to consider with this with Kier. One, it’s it’s still really high. It’s the highest percentage in the NBA. There is no way to sugarcoat that. It’s just high. Okay? You just have to accept the reality. But Isaiah Kier is 20 years old. He’s very young and he is just barely getting the reigns to an offense like this. So, you got to give him a little bit of grace. Also, just having the ball in your hands, you’re going to turn the ball over a lot. You look at guys like uh Russell Westbrook, he’s still really high. Really not great sign there for Russell Westbrook last season. But even a guy that’s incredible with not turning turning the ball over, Chris Paul at 17%. Now Isaiah Collier is at 25. It’s got to get better, but since he’s so young, you think it can, you would imagine it could improve to some extent. Although, I will say the thing that makes me a little bit nervous about this is the shooting. And I think a little bit of what’s contributing to this is that Isaiah Collier is defaulting to driving to the basket really hard, pretty reckless at times, and it’s creating turnovers. We saw a lot of that in in summer league where Isaiah Collier was just absolutely forcing it. He was driving to the basket. He’s extremely fast and strong and so he can do that. But there are times where it’s just not working. And we saw it at times in summer league and for to be honest a lot of summer league it did not work. It did not make the team better. And so it’s something that’s got to get better. But if his shooting numbers don’t get better, I don’t know how this gets a lot of improvement next year because in a lot of situations where the the the thing that he should do is shoot the ball. For example, if he’s running a pick and roll and the defender goes under the screen to cut to cut off the drive to the basket, they are daring him to shoot the ball and he’s not doing it and he’s forcing it to the basket. If his shot does not improve, especially from distance, it’s very hard to see this getting that much better. It’s a shocking stat to be honest, and it won’t get better if the shooting doesn’t get better. Now, I think his shooting can improve. There’s no reason why he can’t become a good shooter, but it’s going to take a lot of development. And so, this was something that just was really shocking. It’s something we’ve got to watch this upcoming season. It’s definitely a storyline. Will the turnover percentage improve for Isaiah Collier? Because if it doesn’t, it doesn’t make you super effective or a winning basketball team if your lead ball handler is turning the ball over at such a high percentage. All right, guys. That’s all I got for tonight. I thought that was interesting. I wanted to share it. I’ll be working on that Bryce Sensah thing probably tomorrow. Like and subscribe to the channel, guys. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
Isaiah Collier had an impressive season last year for the Utah Jazz but this one statistic for him is really shocking. I had no idea.

On the Jazz reddit page I kept talking about Collier's turnovers last season and kept getting downvoted
I don't have a problem with this. He was a rookie that was handed the keys to a terrible team surrounded by young guys. Look at the list behind him. Basically everyone on the list is good, or even great. James harden was at 18% and was 10th in MVP and made the all star game. It's actually kind of a promising list to be on. It means he's a legit playmaker that's actually going for it.
Yeah even in this summer league I was surprised every time he had more assists than turnovers. Hopefully he figures it out.
Thank you for offseason content!!! This time of year without NBA and NFL is always brutal so thank you for keeping me entertain during this time of year ❤go Jazz!!!
