Reacting to Kevin Durant’s Trade to Houston Rockets
can we talk about this billionaire business real quick that’s what I was about to say let’s go this this Houston Rocket y’all mean can we talk about this Phoenix Sun Houston Rock bro let me say something real quick before you two bats get this this goes back to what we talking about Sam Pressie did this Houston Rocket team was number two in the league behind OKC the one thing I loved about this team is they had the number one defensive rating I think in the NBA they rebound as a team that chemistry the nucleus the coach just got there they just extended the coach other player why would Man what we doing man saying you Chris you saying you didn’t like the trade is that Is that what I’m saying i did not like the trade i from from a I’m talking front office i ain’t talking players i’m talking from a front office standpoint i did not like the trade because you just broke up a young team that was doing what we want you to do and build a culture in Houston houston have had a culture since I came and Drexler so now you finally put together a nucleus that can work together to trade away a young player that’s a super athlete super scorer and a defensive player that you got under contract for two years from a front office standpoint it don’t make sense cuz they got a draft pick and they could picked up a draft pick and they could have said “Let’s run it back with these young guys that was second in the West.” My take on that I get what you saying my take is Dylan Brooks you could you could you you could find somebody jaylen Green generational talent as far as athleticism and being able to you know create space and and jump over you and make shots inconsistent takes a lot of tough shots also is a tough shot maker but you got the young kid from Villanova Cam you got the kid from LSU Eaton and then you got the Thompson twins i would rather develop those guys and get them in a spot where they can play with Shangon because the face of that team is Shangon you need guys around him that’s going to be able to make shots play hard and be two-way players and be playable so I feel like now adding Kevin Durant in there now you’re getting a a scorer a guy that stretched the floor and that’s consistent so I thought the trade was a it was dumb for Phoenix because you had all them young dudes i just named and you got none of them you just went and got another two guard so you got Bradley Bill Devin Booker Jaylen Green and whoever else they all two guard it’s the same [ __ ] that was just going on with Kevin Durant right so you got smaller and you still got the same problem in my opinion i think that’s how I kind of looked at it dude what you think that’s great points i mean I I’mma go with the Phoenix i’mma go with how I looked at Phoenix um you know I looked at Phoenix being in a tough spot right with obviously having uh Devin Booker Kevin Durant and Bradley Bill they they they went for it in the way that they could right the new owner came in and he was like I’m I’m ready to make a splash and his splash was Kevin Durant um and they gave it a run they gave it a try and it didn’t work out they had three coaches in this in this experiment um and multiple players and so I look at Phoenix and I say what Phoenix did for themselves is they gave themselves some elbow room because they were bootstrapped in a sense right so they they needed to give themselves a little breather and and and create something for themselves and they did an amazing job of turning you know Kevin Durant who’s one of the greatest in our game but also too someone who’s 36 37 years old come next season turning him into let’s see who Jaylen Green may become because the one thing Jaylen Green showed us is that yes he’s inconsistent and no he’s not ready yet but also too he also showed us that he understands that he put the onus on himself to say “I’m the lights were bright.” And so we get a two-year look at him right we get a we get we get a two-year look at a young guy like that we also get a 20th pick and then two we got five you know second round picks that we could turn into something and so we gave ourselves just some breathing room with a a player who you know with the fan base and also with KD who just probably got weary of each other you know KD don’t you get weary out the while and the fan base did as well right they they expect winning when you get greatness that comes to your team and they wasn’t getting that and so I think it was great for for both sides to kind of split that up and Phoenix to give themselves some elbow room and Houston to give themsel a chance right now and say “All right our young course Jaylen Green somebody who we depend on he just showed us that he’s not ready right now.” And he’s not ready right now are we going to put ourselves in a situation where we have to give him a max in two years or we going to try to move on and try to bring somebody in here that can bring hope to this like D right said build around what our future really is going to look like and Kevin Durant is just somebody to come in and give me 26 28 tonight you know what I mean in a sense and it gives us a chance right away to get this excitement get this [ __ ] brewing in a sense and so I kind of look at it the other way as well even though Chris I do understand what you’re saying about the patience of OKC the steps that they took the building blocks they were willing to take everybody don’t have that patience everybody don’t have that kind of that kind of time right houston decided that they went on that time no more they they was not willing to wait and because they were not willing to wait on Jaylen Green to get to the level that he was drafted to be or that he was a top high school player at one point to be they made a move and it was a great move for Phoenix because they needed this elbow room right right right and and that’s how I looked at it no that’s a that’s a great POV i just looked at it from like damn Houston wasn’t patient you know is I’m not even looking at the players in regards to KD being you know a great player he’s gonna make that team better right i’m looking at it from the front office from the coach’s perspect you just extended your coach you just was in you was in the playoffs making a run you don’t think coach had nothing to do with it he wasn’t a fan of Jaylen Green we saw that the year before when something to do with that too right coach he wasn’t a fan of Jaylen Green yeah and I mean listen Jaylen Green is showed us that I mean he I think he went off for like 42 in one of the games like he has that level that potential but also too he’s not there yet no and you don’t know how long you got to wait on a young guy to actually get to that level of where SGA is where where this guy can actually help you get to the finals he’s not he’s not at that point and so once they saw that I feel like they just they made a move and said instead of saying “Let’s wait let’s make a move right now because the move is there for us to make.” Um you know and I don’t think they give up too much huh yeah and they’re close like like Chris just mentioned they’re the second best team in the West yeah they’re the second best team in the West i was just looking at the patience that’s all i mean I think you you make moves but you just I’m just watching the patience like Boston won the year before and you look at the patience of the organ yeah yeah yeah and you know you I’m looking at the patience yeah most organizations do not have it
Was Houston too quick to give up on their young core—or was this the right time to go all in? The crew debates the Rockets’ blockbuster trade for KD, comparing Houston’s move to OKC’s patient rebuild. Chris questions breaking up a promising, defensive-minded squad just to speed up the process, while D-Wade sees Phoenix and Houston both winning in different ways. They break down front office philosophy, Jalen Green’s potential, and what this deal says about timing, pressure, and how rare real patience is in the league.

Rockets up next
Rockets is not the best team for KD but kudos to him, he didn't force the issue.
Hmmm…PHX can’t be done…way too many players of the same type big salaries…HOU made a key pick up without losing a lot..KD should thrive if he can stay healthy.
Tell me you ain’t watch any rockets games without telling me 😂😂😂
Houston is not going to be patient with a guy painting his fingernails black unless it's Dennis Rodman.
Y'all forgetting the effect having KD on the team is going to have on Jabari Smith Jr. 🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿 Not to mention Reed Shepard getting more Pt. Just my thoughts.
😂😂😂😂 bro houston won 🏆 this trade 💚 =inconsistent brook=mediocre 😂😂😂😂 KD sure 20+ with consistency
Suns team 🌞 a 🤡 show now 📺 😅😅😂😂
The Rockets just made room to develop the guys they want to develop. OKC TRADED GIDDEY. BOSTON TRADED SMART. Pay attention bro lol.
These guys obviously haven’t watched the Rockets 😂
They were dying ot get a bucket against warriors… U smoking wild 😂
Only one of them watched the Rockets & PHX. Only one of them watched the playoffs & the season, bc these takes are wild. Like Green literally went for single digits, went for around 38, then went for single digits the next 5 games against the GSW
Who's this talking like he watches the Rockets. He makes absolutely no sense. The only young player we gave up was JG.
These guy not watching rockets players
My guy the coach wanted KD, he was the one pushing for the trade , and we still young as hell and still own the Duns 27 n 29 picks
I didn’t want Jalen Green to leave. I said the same thing about the Patience ….but getting Durant. You don’t need to wait around. I’m more excited about Amen growing and becoming the face of the league. He has that dog in him and Jalen didn’t. Durant will be a great mentor for Amen to become a better player and maybe a better shooter. The team needs Durants skills and Knowledge to feed off of. Great move the more you think about it. I did like Jalen and hope he becomes the player he is meant to be.
HOW DID THEY BREAK UP THE TEAM STUPID? THE TRADED ONE YOUNG CORE PLAYER 😑!! WHOEVER THAT FIRST GUY IS GET HIM OFF THE POD!
OKC could afford to have that patience when SGA fell into their lap via a trade. Rockets don't have an SGA type player. We have loads of Jdub and Chet types but no superstar closer who we can rely on in the clutch to just get buckets. That's the difference. If Green developed the way SGA developed, KD wouldn't be in Houston.
We lost one young guy tho
Jalen green not all that.
Broke up, we only lost 2 players and 1 from the young core 😂
he sound stupid
rockets were patient for 3 years you sound stupid he had to go we trying to win now
What this dude talking about 😂
“Eaton” 🤣
Yall not watching the games lord.
I'm a rockets fan and I don't like the trade either. Imagine adding Khaman Maluach to this team pre trade 18 year old defensive minded. We were trending up, now it's win now. I'm sorry but since KD has left GS he has been a franchise killer in my opinion nets and suns hopefully not my rockets. And I respect KD's game he is a great player, top 10. But Okc just set the blueprint. Its a changing of the guard. Go 🚀
That SLAM cover article has not aged well.
We signed DFS and brought Clint Capela back btw. We up 🤘🏾
