Multiple MASSIVE Updates on Raptors Next President…

We have multiple major updates regarding the Toronto Raptors search to find their next president of basketball operations, which really will be an inflection point in the future of this franchise. And a couple of the names that are linked lean on the crazy, the shocking side, especially to a lot of Raptors fans. And some are very, very encouraging as options and what they’d be able to do to grow this Toronto Raptors team. So, we’re going to break down all of the names that have been linked to this Raptors president search here. Now, at this point, what we can expect, what their resumes are, and how things will play out if they end up getting the role, and what the latest intel is saying, and who’s the most likely to get it. So, lots of stuff to break down out here in this video. But folks, you guys been crushing and subscribing on the channel over the course of this season, and still over 53% of our viewers have not hit the sub button just yet. So, make sure you guys, if you’re enjoying the Toronto Raptors content we got rolling to you over the course of summer, you guys hit that sub button cuz I don’t want you to miss a single thing. Especially right now, this president search, we haven’t heard a bunch of information out on it earlier in the summer. Things are starting to pop up now, especially over the past couple of days that really hope to build some steam in terms of decision being made. So, what’s going on? What’s happening? Well, Michael Graange dropped some details in terms of all of the latest updates. So, first things first, he came out and said that a number of league insiders that he’s spoken with believe that the team’s general manager, Bobby Webster, is the leading candidate for the role. Bobby, it’s Bobb’s to lose was a line heard around Las Vegas. So that’s coming from Michael Grange. The insiders, the people across the league believe Bobby Webster is the guy that is most likely to get that role. Now we take a look at the added context to it. What is that? Is that conjecture? Is that other stuff? Whatever. But that’s what the insiders are there to believe. And frankly, he’s been my number one choice, my number one selection, my number one option in terms of who I want to see get that role. The Toronto Raptors have been, say what you want about hits, misses, cap situations, players leaving a free agency, whatever. They have been one of the stronger managed teams and definitely throughout the 2010s early in Bobby Webster’s tenure as he’s the GM of the team, right? They have been one of the top managed teams without throughout the Toronto NBA, not just the Toronto Raptors. Goodness gracious. So, in keeping that stability, promoting a guy from inside that’s been with the organization, has done great things for the team. is just a high IQ likable guy. People across the league speak very very highly of Bobby Webster. I would like to see him get that opportunity at the president of basketball operations get that opportunity at that position. So that is something that I have stood on. I believe in I think Bobby Webster should get that role. Now we got some added context in terms of how uh you know that that’s that could go. Essentially Webster is interested in the job which is the first step. Moving Webster up a peg to president explains why one source said that the names had that he heard on that uh search list that’s led by CA right now had reached out to some lower tier executives most of whom would make more sense as additions to the Raptors front office uh overall horsepower working for someone like Webster rather than in a team president role. So that is very very interesting because again we’re now hearing Bobby Webster’s to lose and stuff like that and Keith Ple talked about hey you know and we talked about this earlier in the offseason Webster is a legitimate shot legitimate candidate being taken very very seriously for that position and if he gets that role of course there’ll be someone out of uh you know they need a GM they need a general manager of course Dan Tolsman has been brought up in that position in the running just move everyone up you know in the pecking order but there have been a few names that have been linked out there for you know a GM spot if Bobby Webster is staying as the president of basketball operations. So, who are some of the names that are being listed? And one of them is very very uh intriguing. So, if we end up going down this route, uh there are some candidates with a long varied uh NBA experience. Also, one name that MLSC has done their background work on is Chicago Bulls general manager Mark Eversley, a Bmpton native who was an assistant general manager with the Raptors under Brian Kangelo before his stints in Philadelphia, Washington, and now Chicago. So Mark Eversley is a guy that’s being named. I I’m going to come out and say I do not want Eversley to be the G the president of basketball operations at the Toronto Raptors. He has had some stints and you know he’s a respected GM, a guy that you know you talked to Bulls fans, you talked to folks, you know, people like him. People like him, but he’s been a part of some just struggling teams, some struggling organizations. Assistant GM to the Raptors under Brian Kangelo. That’s a pretty desperate team. That’s a bad front office. That’s not a team that was super successful. the Bulls right now. You could make an argument over one of the worst positions in the NBA terms talents wise, assetwise, all of those types of things. So, you know, with the Wizards, the Sixers early on, not a guy that has been on a lot of successful organizations, but is a wellrespected dude, has a lot of NBA experience. So, him coming in under Bobby Webster, having a relationship there, of course, he uh it’s it was mentioned he was a big part of the Toronto Raptors actually drafting Demar Rosen, which of course ended up being a big big win for the team out there. uh you know long term. So you know definitely not a guy that I would stay away with him you know from a 10-ft pole but being president of basketball operations and Bobby Webster being the GM under him wouldn’t make a ton of sense. So that’s a name that’s being brought up if Bobby Webster’s the you know president but Dwayne Casey’s in the thumbnail. You saw him out there who are being listed as a potential president candidates outside of Bobby Webster because if it was Bobby Webster foregone conclusion this would have been announced by now. So what’s going on? So, uh, Michael Grange came out and said that, uh, reformer Raptors head coach and current Detroit Pistons executive Dwayne Casey has thrown his hat into the ring and has met with MLSC president Keith Pelle sources. So, not only is he interested, not only is coach Casey, you know, intrigued by getting this role, getting this opportunity, he has met with Keith P. Pelle, people roast the way I pronounce his last name. I don’t care. He fired me Jerry. But essentially, there has already been a meeting with Dwayne Casey for this role. So that does not mean that is by no means an indication. Oh, he’s just a right off, you know, friendly face. Interview him for the sake of your if you’re going to meetings with the CEO of MLSC, you are seriously in the running for this position. Now, Dwayne Casey was an extremely successful coach for the Toronto Raptors. He was a guy that very much built the culture, built the roots, built his team. Now, some people may have said he burnt bridges the way he was fighting with Nick Nurse out there in the media and stuff. Made some comments about Raptors fans not being as, you know, built different as the Detroit fans and stuff. So, there is some bridges, I want to say burnt, but, you know, little little ticky torches thrown out there on the the Dwayne Casey bridge to the Raptors fandom. But regardless, overall, Dwayne Casey was a big big positive to the Toronto Raptors organization. So, I think it’s fair that he take the Raptors take a serious look at him getting that front office role. And, you know, the Pistons have been better under the especially the past couple seasons. I think they’ve had some bad luck injury-wise. And I think Casey, you know, is not the GM, but is in the executive role out there for the Pistons. Has done has been in the front office of a team that’s been fairly successful navigating a rebuild. Kind of in a situation the Raptors are a little bit in right now. So, you know, I I wouldn’t come out here and be like, “Oh, this is the worst thing in the world if we went after Casey.” Of course, Dwayne Casey’s main downfall was always, hey, in-game adjustments, specifically in the postseason. He’s really good culture builder. He developed a lot of talent for this Raptors group. You can’t argue any any of that. You can’t do it. You can’t argue any of that. Where Dwayne Casey’s main pitfall was in Raptors history was his inability to make adjustments in the playoffs. As a president, as a GM, as whatever the heck role Dwayne Casey would get, he would uh not have to make in-game adjustments. So, I’m not, you know, obviously we don’t get uh priv privy to the insights in terms of the decisions Dwayne Casey made behind the scenes out there in Detroit, but the team’s in a very good spot right there right now. He was definitely a part of it. So, I wouldn’t say it’s the worst thing in the world for this to happen, but I definitely get why some Raptors fans will be like, “Okay, Dwayne Casey, what are we really doing here? What’s really going on if we end up bringing in Dwayne Casey to be this team’s president of basketball operations?” to make things weird with Bobby Webster probably a little bit too. But basically, I’m not I’m not going to say, you know, come out here and say the sky is falling if Dwayne Casey ends up getting this role. So, that’s one name that’s being brought up in this list. the next name. Another very interesting uh very interesting guy is that uh key figure that P has met with as well is former Sacramento Kings general manager Monty McNair who is the 2022 2023 NBA executive of the year who was let go by the Kings this April after leading Sacramento to its most successful runs in fr one of its most successful runs in franchise history. Now I watched a lot of Kings games last year. I I like some of the guys out there at the cakes talk some stuff all that. Monty McNair is a guy that the fan base is very very split on there over in Sacramento. There are a lot of people out there in Sacramento that are like split in terms of the decisions and specifically at the end of his tenure out there in Sacramento made some questionable moves, some questionable decisions. You know, Darren Fox trade didn’t have a lot of options. He just wanted to go to the Spurs, but bringing back Zack Lavine’s contract is a tree. But really the ownership out there in Sacramento is one of the worst in terms of being handson with decision-m making moves. And uh you know Viv Vivic Ronald Diva if I pronounce his name correctly really loved Zack Lavine really loved some of the guys some of the weird moves that they ended up making. So it’s tough to say hey is Monty Madera making these weird cap decisions throwing away a roster is really fun and up and coming and you know exciting going in the future. Is that Monty McNair’s fault how it collapsed? Or should we give him credit for actually building a team that made the playoffs, that made some runs, that had a solid team in the Eastern Western Conference for a couple seasons, right? If give him credit for actually doing that under the absolutely tumultuous ownership in uh you know, Sacramento in terms of getting things rocking and rolling there. So, you can take either side of it, but the reality is you know, Monty Mader had was given the beam team, was given that group, was given that squad that uh you know, or built it. He built it. He wasn’t given it. he was building that squad and then basically wasn’t able to capitalize on it. Didn’t capitalize on the talent, made some questionable moves, questionable roster decisions, and didn’t bolster the defense that was desperately needed on that group. And that’s just how things go. And then you talk about the negotiations with the Toronto Raptors for a long time. He had an opportunity to trade for Pascal Saka, but was unwilling to deal Kik Murray. And then, you know, looking at that in hindsight, that is just an idiotic decision. Raptors fans were always like, “Are you really going to hold out on a Pascal Saka trade like Kika Murray? What are you really doing here?” So, you know, there there’s all those things that have to be factored into the resume, but a guy that has had some success. Again, I’m not going to yell the sky falling if you end up hiring him, but uh not my like top choice out here on this list. And the last name that I think is most exciting to Toronto Raptors fans outside of the in-house options is uh to quote Michael Grange, an interesting name to watch is Kevin Pritchard, the longtime Indiana Pacers president who led the club to the NBA finals this past June and the Eastern Conference Finals in 2024. One insider suggested to me that the Pacers executive is MLSC’s preferred choice. Although lateral moves for executives are under who are under contract with other teams are often harder to execute than when there is a promotion. So this guy is definitely uh you know an option. I think the Indiana Pacers have been extremely well-managed as of late and they are dealing with one of you know there’s ownership things you have to factor in when all the decision-m and stuff. The Indiana Pacers ownership are one of the cheapest out there in the entire NBA. And this man has been able to go to the finals, able to go to Eastern Conference Files, able to make a ton of moves while dealing with extremely cheap ownership in an undesirable market, like undesirable free agent market. I’ve never been to India. I don’t know if the city’s nice or anything like that, but basically this uh you know, that’s just a resume that kind of speaks for itself. Hey, this guy’s really been able into the modern NBA you over the last few seasons where the NBA has changed in terms of dynamics, in terms of cap, in terms of, you know, the second apron being issue. He has been able to put on a masterclass really in roster construction, roster building, getting the most out of players. And, you know, I think Messiah Jerry’s done a great job at finding talent, but I think my criticism of Messiah and, you know, the front office right now has been, hey, do we have the right amalgamation, the right fit of talent? And that’s where things have really been an issue since 2021. Since we start to experiment with the centerless basketball, getting everyone playing the same positions and everything like that. You know, Pritchard is a guy that was able to really craft concoct a roster that fits well together and plays well in the modern NBA. And you know, the Raptors ownership is less cheap than the Pacers, so he’ll have more options. I think the Raptors are a bigger city. I think now at this point a more desirable market and you know it could be a team that you know can unlock and you know Pritchard coming in I think also would have the respect to where it wouldn’t be a slap in the face to Bobby Webster if you ended up bringing him in as your president and then Webster still is the GM so interesting stuff lots of interesting things my favorite is still Bobby Webster pretty sure would be a guy I’d be excited about as well but of course it’ll be difficult to pry him away from Indiana team that just made the NBA finals but let me know what you guys think about all this in the comment section down below you guys think as far subscribe to the channel I’m signing

  1. They won’t hire Casey but I can see why he got an interview. Hate him or love him but he actually has the experience unlike some of the people I see some of you naming like Steve Nash. Casey currently holds a front office job with the Pistons who we just saw make a turn around and now relevant again. He knows this country unlike someone coming into this job that doesn’t know anything about Canada. The man was involved in the community when he was here. He one of the most winningest coach in this organization’s history which is why they likely gave him an interview. People hate on Casey way too much. He was the coach that turned this organization around from being 💩 and won coach of the year here. Sure he couldn’t get pass Lebron but no coach was getting passed Lebron in his Lebronto era. People talk about Casey as if he was the worst thing that happened to the Raptors when he was one of best things that happening to this organization. He brought winning here. Some people talk as if he didn’t make an Eastern conference finals. The man has more accomplishments to his name than any Leafs coach in most of our life time but people talk about him as if he was a scrub. Bobby is still my guy for the job but I wouldn’t mind Casey.

  2. Casey burnt the bridge behind him with his acceptance speech for the coach of the year. Like the Pacer guy or Webster. As long as Webster can convince the owners that he will take a fresh look at past decisions, then he is my preferred choice. IQ needs to have a great season to convince me that he is not a negative asset

  3. Casey taking initiative to meet with the raptors is a major positive and shows he is motivated by more than just money . It also signals that the Raptors are not desperate by bringing in a new name. Id be thrilled with either Casey or Bobby Webster

  4. Casey would be perfect. He basically handed Nick Nurse a championship team in the making, and he's been around long enough to cause Bobby Webster to willingly bow down to him, so great.

  5. @benrogers surprised you didnt mention collin castleton is waived. but raptors still 2.8 million over the cap so they gotta make a bigger move than waiving lawson because they still over the cap if they do that. so bye bye ochai
