in the middle of the season now. How do players stay mentally sharp during this time of year? Well, it’s really coming down to a lot of what the support staff can do for your team physically. You want to be in the best condition you can. So, are you getting your massages? Are you taking care of your treatments? are you getting in the weight room to make sure your body is not atrophying in any way? You keep that strength that you put on in the off season. All these little things add up to you maintaining a level of performance and consistency that your teammates and yourself can rely on. Kevin, here are the starters for Los Angeles. LeBron James is out there with Austin Reeds. Then there’s Smart. Then there’s Donic. And it’s Aon in at the pivot spot manning the middle. This is his first trip to the line tonight. In their last contest, guys, he was unconscious from the foul line. [Applause] That free throw missing. And one thing the Lakers are so adept at, Greg, inverting their sets to have different players start the action. Yeah, it takes a high level of basketball IQ to do that on the fly. Makes defending the Lakers a nightmare. You never know how they’ll attack you. He hits the second from the line. Eyepopping talent from Don. We don’t see many players with his size and skill set. Green against James. Pass to Curry. The tray. The shot goes in. First shot, first basket. Curry doing it again. One of the quickest releases we’ve ever seen. Here’s Donic. Now Smart [Applause] Eightton with it. From eight. Jimmy Butler pulls it in and it’s the Warriors ball to the inside. Here’s post and the rejection by LeBron. What a denial. LeBron attacking that shot with pinpoint accuracy. And that kind of stifling effort on defense needs another look. And making a statement right away, letting them know they won’t get any easy ones when he’s around. Curry against Donic. Blocked again. The anticipation is there for Luca on defense. Curry with the steel. Fires for three. Another miss by Curry. And they’re one of five to start this game. just really haven’t gotten into a flow offensively. Floats it up for James. Takes the alley pass and dunks it down. Yeah, LeBron on the alleyoop. Great getting loose on the backside. And what a pass. Golden State’s gone one and two from long range in the first quarter. on its way from Curry for two and again it’s the Warriors missing. Let’s check in with our reporter David Aldridge. Hey Kevin, I was able to talk to Golden State’s head coach. Obviously, they’re trying to limit the damage Luca Donic inflicts and that’s at the front of his mind. He said Luca is going to get his. We can’t stop that, but we can’t let him set up everyone else for easy ones. When the whole team gets involved, we’re cooked. So they’re going to make him work for every assist out there, guys. Thank you, David. And good that time. Draymond Green, we know he plays with attitude and he plays with force. His teammates appreciate the unselfish approach he has. Pass to Donic. Eighton a screen on Kirk. And here’s Donic from the AR. Green with the rebound. And here’s Green. He’ll bring it up for the Warriors. They trail by one. Donic against Curry. That one falls. Curry’s got five points so far. Love to see the pass first nature of Draymond Green. And for good reason. He’s got a lot of good shooters on the ball club. But as a four or as a five, that passing skill pays off big time. Now here’s Aton. They look to him for part of their offensive attack. Right now he averages nearly 12 points a game. Shot clock at five. Dicage finds Smart over healed and he didn’t get quite enough under that one. The Warriors have gotten three of eight shots to fall for them here in the first quarter. Golden State moving the ball around. [Applause] A rebound by the Lakers. Reeves with it now guarded by Heield. I see you. I see you. Pass to Smart. [Applause] That’s in. And he found his range with that one. Now one for two. And that’s an error by the D. You can’t give someone like Smart that kind of position inside. And here are the Warriors now. outside. Curry [Music] fires away from way outside. Sinks it. What range from outside. Wow. Curry’s got his third basket of the night. Outside. James. Pass to Eightton with the fadeaway and he sinks that one. and hitting the back of the rim on the way in. Hayden showing it could be a problem on other spots on the floor, not just the post. Healed against Smart to the middle. Here’s Curry. Nice. Four for seven from the four with that shot. As hot as he’s been this quarter, the game plan is simple, folks. Get him the ball and get out of the way. Here’s Donic. He is as potent an offensive player as you’re going to find in this league. He averages almost 30 points a game. Pass to Reeves. And here is Donic. Six to shoot. Reeves with it. And it’s the Warriors on the break. And there’s the slam dunk to finish it off. Coast to coast there. Jimmy Butler, one of the premier two-way players in the league. [Applause] Lakers trail by four. James the pass to Reeves. Donic outside burries the long range jumper. Donic has got seven points. And they don’t want to get in a habit of giving him open looks from three. First quarter still, but not who you want to leave open. Here’s Post. No scoring in this one. Heel. The rebound by James to the paint and Aton throws it down. We’ll see if they can finally hold on to a lead. It’s been back and forth all night. Well, you can tell they really want to increase this lead. They can’t keep letting them take it from him. Golden State’s gone two or three from deep so far in this game. And the NBA is truly an international league. I mean, look no further than DeAndre Aton hailing from the Bahamas. Well, you love that him and Buddy Heel carrying the torch for their home country. Aton is actually the second first overall pick from the Bahamas. The first one being the great Michael Thompson. Now Green after Luca Donic’s three-pointer that didn’t go. Smart against Green. [Applause] Five on the clock and he could not get that one to go. Lot of contact and he’ll go to the line for two. That’s on LeBron James. Butler gives you so much toughness and determination. This guy can really impact what the culture of your team is all about. The Warriors shooting their first free throws of the game. And the first one at the line is good. Always one of the hardest workers on his team. Jimmy Butler knows how to win. Hatchima, he’s checked in for Marcus Smart. He’s off on the second. Listen, there’s no doubt he feels like they should have the lead, but that miss will keep it all tied up. And he comes up with the deuce. And there’s a pattern starting to take shape here. They’re working it inside and getting good shots from close range. The Warriors have gone six of 14 shooting the ball since the start of the game. pass to post and he’s fouled pretty hard on that shot, but he’s got the chance to pick up the points at the line and a closer look here at the scoring breakdown for the Lakers. So far, they’ve moved the ball well, leading to open high percentage looks, lots of assists in this one. Well, a lot of the players are doing a good job as well of scanning the interior part of the paint. All those inside looks, those are paying off. The first free throw is good. Pajki, he’s checked in for the Warriors. Vincent’s checked in for the Lakers. Both good from the line that time. And here is Los Angeles now. [Applause] Donic looking it over. Healed attacking. Good. Great play by Green to set it up. Heels got his second bucket of the night. And taking a quick look here at the hustle stats for the Warriors. I mean, they’ve come out aggressive defensively, getting into them and and coming up with some cookies along the way. Sometimes the offense can be keyed by just quick possessions. So, you get a steal and you can get out in transition. They seem to be very focused on that end of the floor. Here’s Hatimura following the basket by Buddy Heel. And now let’s take a look again at that incredible rejection. And boy did he get up quick to reject that shot. That’s as fundamental as defense gets. Brent, when I think of those title teams of the Golden State Warriors, clearly you think of the Curries and Thompson and and and maybe at the top of that list, the importance of Draymond Green. Well, there’s no doubt, Kevin, that the lean on for Golden State defensively and to be as good as they were on that end of the floor falls on the shoulders and the very capable ones of Draymond Green. I mean, he took on all challengers and elevated the confidence of players like Steph and Clay. So, Draymond’s defense elite and leading to titles. LeBron against Green. Now James, he had 27 points last game. Down to five on the shot clock. Green with the block. You can see Draymond Green so fired up every time he has a chance to impact the game defensively. And already they’ve staked out a noticeable advantage in terms of aggression and controlling the back door. And we’ve got a timeout called by Steve Kerr. He wants to make some adjustments to the game plan clearly. [Applause] Heat. Heat. Let’s check out the Western Conference standings right now that we’re here in the new year. Look at the Lakers. They’re having a solid season, fifth in the conference and looking to move up. And of course, the Warriors, they’re ninth best in the conference. Well, I think for the Lakers, this hasn’t been the breakout season that many were predicting, but they’re still very much in the hunt for a high postseason seed, and that will keep them focused here during the season’s final stages. Well, the goal is very defined. They have to have a strong finish to the season and make sure they get homecourt advantage for at least the first few rounds of the playoffs. PMsky and he takes the fantastic lead pass up strong for the slam. He talked about a back and forth game. This is the definition. You have to love these kinds of games scoring wise, keeping everybody on their toes. And so Donic will bring it up for the Lakers. They trail by one. Their last game, a win against Boston, looking to carry it into this one. Well, in that one, they just had everything working offensively. It’s a lot of fun when you get into that kind of a groove. Yeah, I love watching that game and in particular their demeanor in their destruction in that game. The Lakers have gone one of three at the line here. And when you got a team percentage of about 81%, uh you’re going to be one of the elites in this league. [Applause] and he makes the first. The feel LeBron has for the game unreal. Whatever situation he finds himself in, he always seems to have an answer. [Applause] And both free throws good for LeBron. You know, just thinking about it, every year the physical and mental toughness of LeBron just gets more and more impressive, maintaining his spot at the top of his game. The 11-footer hits some room on the way in and the bucket’s good. He has five. This is a solid opening quarter right here. Very active and creating a lot of good opportunities for himself. And now the latest from our reporter David Alder. Kevin, thank you very much. LeBron James is still dominating at an age where most players are well into their retirement. How does he do it? He said, “Show up, put the work in, and then go out and trust it. I’m just trying to push the limit. See how far I can take this thing. It’s me versus Father Tai.” Kevin, back to you. And David, that’s one you’re always going to win against father time. Hey, thank you for the report. VMsky with it, guarded by Donic. Donic with the block. Hatchima kicks to James. And a quick look at some of the numbers for Ruy Hatchimura. The Lakers have shot three of five at the foul line. [Applause] The first one falls and Los Angeles with some changes. Vanderbilt comes in for Aton and it’s Austin Reeves in for Gabe Vincent. All free throws good from Donic. Here’s Pajki. Turned in an outstanding game against Chicago. The shot, the rebound by James. James has got four rebounds now tonight. And that one clearly a foul. Gets the whistle and two shots coming up. While we have a break, we can see which teams have made the most of their second chance opportunities over the last 10 games. In third, the Warriors. I mean, you love their aggressiveness, not settling for one shot offensively, but really running down those loose boards and and converting for extra points. [Applause] And that one falls for Hachimura. Hachimura being able to step out and shoot threes, that’s huge for his development. The Lakers making a switch here. Vincent’s checked in. Chimura hits them both. Warriors trail by five. Piers Pajki. He’s been a factor in their offense on most nights with his scoring average at nearly 16 points a game. Just five on the clock. He drains it as the shot clock ticks down. He has seven. And they’re beginning to just flat out fall apart defensively right now, especially on the interior. Pass to Hatchima. 136 left here in the first quarter. And on the glass so far, it hadn’t even been close. Golden State’s gone two of four from beyond the arc to start the game. Now Pensky and it’s thrown down hard with both hands. Gives the team such a great element having a one guard who can get to the 10. A certainly something every team wants to have. like to see that assertiveness, especially from the guy who’s going to orchestrate your offense. Here’s James following the score by Golden State. Pass to Vincent. [Applause] 104 left to play in the first quarter. The Warriors trail now. Here’s Moody still yet to score. Here’s Poachki and he uses the glass on the layup. The plan of attack is obvious. Get the ball inside and go strong to the rim. [Applause] Count it from 12. Aim already had that shot lined up. [Applause] 8sec difference between the shot clock and the game clock. Here’s PMski defended by Vincent. Back to Pajki. There’s the triple. Cracks in the tray. Pajk’s got nine. Well, guys, this first half has been about as tightly contested as you could hope for. There have been a lot of lead changes. My goodness. And here is Hatchim on it. It’s going to be out of bounds. Los Angeles will retain possession. [Applause] with one on the clock. What a play. He simply drains it in at the buzzer. One eye on the rim, one eye on the clock. Nice job. Yeah, it’s almost like he’s playing with the wristwatch there. He knew the time. He executed. It’s been all about Stephen Curry for the Warriors. He got into double digits for the quarter with 10 points total. And we’ve got more M2K sports coming your way after this break. Some good action already in this one, but a fairly even matchup after the first quarter of play. And taking a look at the Warriors performance here, guys. What are your thoughts? Hey, why take jump shots when you can get your points at the rim? Yeah, that worked wonders for them in the quarter. We’ll see what kind of adjustments get made. [Applause] Golden State’s gone three of five from beyond the arc so far tonight. In the back court, we’ll see Curry and Poachki. There’s Buché out there with Trace Jackson Davis. And it’s Moody in at the small forward position. So that’s the group out there for Golden State. Now there’s Curry. Five to shoot. Vanderbilt with the rebound. And I was sure that was money on that one, but everyone is afforded an easy miss or two. Yeah, that happens. Important thing is for players, just don’t beat yourself up and make a miss like that cost you another play. Here’s Moody. He had 15 points last outing. Pass to Pajki. Driving the lane. Unloads from 13. Makes the bucket. Now he’s got five field goals. Five for eight in the game. You know, it used to be teams hoarded their cap space to make a big splash in free agency. But why is that less common now? Well, really the mechanisms for you to retain and maintain your star power has gotten easier for teams as they have gone out for big extensions to make sure that their star is shining brightest. And this will be his second and third shots at the line here. And he’s been terrific, guys. I mean, the percentage right around 86%. So, no doubt he’s pleased with that. A free throw drops for Vincent. [Applause] And so Vincent nails both of them. The Warriors shooting one of the high points for them in this game at 54%. [Applause] Bush with the ball. He has yet to score. Bush the screen. They get it again and that’s good. A nice job in the glass as they pick up two on the second effort. They’re finding lanes to the hoop now with consistency. Five buckets in a row from the paint. Here’s Vincent. That’s basket number two with his third shot. Off to a fast two for three. The Warriors have gone two of four shooting the ball here in the second. Pass to Bush. Now Curry, the inside game of Stephen Curry. They are just killing them on the interior. And here in the second, two minutes gone by. Here’s Laorabia. Now Vincent, he’s got seven. Here’s Hatchima from the arc. Bush with the rebound. The Warriors leader. Pass to Pajki. [Applause] Back to Moody. Jackson Davis finds PMski. Over Vincent and the Warriors tack on two more. The Curry’s found his groove out there and that’s a scary thought. Lakers trail by four and JJ Reick calls timeout here. He’s going to have a discussion here on the sideline. [Applause] Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. [Applause] Smarts checked in for the Lakers. These players have been all about defense lately. Here are the steel leaders in the NBA this month. Second is Marcus Smart. Really been fantastic defensively this run for him. He’s had more than his share of steals and now he’s looking to get more. [Applause] [Applause] And for those of you just joining us, we’re in the second quarter with about three minutes gone by. [Applause] Hatchima down low. Bush defending. No one to blame on that one but himself. You get looks like that, you’ve got to take advantage. Curry. Moody. The pass to Curry. Smart with the steel. Out of bounds, Golden State takes possession. And a moment now to check out who the Warriors have coming up on their schedule. On Tuesday, they’ll defend home court against the Utah Jams. Then on Wednesday, they’ll host the Oklahoma City Thunder. And that game against the Suns, that’s going to be one where it would take a lot of errors and maybe a cold shooting night for things to go wrong. They just have that much of an advantage over that team. James checked in for the Lakers. Pass to Boucher down low. Stolen by Reeves. And here we go. Fast break. James has got it. Smart wide open. He fires. Good. And the assist goes to James. James has got his fourth assist in this one. And it’s Curry with the ball bringing it up for Golden State. Looking ahead, they’ve got the Jazz coming into town for the next game. [Applause] Pass to post and the Warriors miss again. Los Angeles has gone one of two on three-pointers here in the second quarter so far. Outside Smart. Vanderbilt setting the pick for Smart. Just five to shoot. The Lakers need to get a shot off here. LeBron, that’s a two-pointer. Good. He hits the jump shot. James has got his second bucket tonight. LeBron James has developed that outside shot. Effective from that area on the floor. Golden State’s gone 02 from deep here in the second. Curry pass it to Heel. Here’s Post. Vanderbilt defending. All right, a chance to look at the stats for Buddy Heel. How last month turned out for him. He’s averaging 14 points a game, two assists, and three rebounds. And he’s done his share of the work for the team. Definitely making an impact. Well, the numbers, if you look at them, impressive all the way around, and he’s not letting the team down. [Applause] No good on that one. Gabe Vincent, he’s checked in for Vanderbilt. And he’s good on the second for Los Angeles. They’ve gone three of seven shooting the ball here in the second quarter. Pass to Hatchima. Lets the three fly. The rebound by Heel. This has not been a good quarter right here. shot has been off the mark and now it looks Kevin like he’s pressing a bit. Pajki with it inside and stolen by LeBron. Here’s Vincent. He’s defended by Pachki. Smart misses. It’s deflected. The Warriors have gone four of seven from the field in this second quarter so far. outside. Curry [Applause] unloads from 13 and he makes that one. Curry’s got six in the quarter. Not just the accuracy in the quarter, it’s his movement and the energy that’s getting him on this nice roll. Here’s Vincent. He’s defended by Pompeki. Los Angeles with another miss. And on an open look like that, he’s very gifted at making the weak coverage pay Reeves against Teal. [Applause] [Music] Rebound the Lakers. James has got his fifth rebound in this one. Pass to Hatchima. [Applause] Back to Smart. Some nice passing here by Los Angeles. There’s a good screen. Four on the shot clock. And he hits it just before the shot clock expires. Smart’s got the game tied up here for the Lakers. The Warriors have gotten just over 50% of their shots to drop here in the second quarter. They’re five for nine. Here’s Curry. Nice spin off the left rim and in. Curry’s got 18 points. Just another day at the office for Steph Curry making this look easy. Reeves outside. [Applause] This one for three. Vincent misses. Warriors have gone six of 10 from the floor here in the second quarter. Pass to Buché. peeled outside. Five to shoot. The three. LeBron grabs the miss. James has got six rebounds in the game. And here’s Reeves outside. Yes. And it’s LeBron picking up the assist. James has got five assists in the game. And so Steve Kerr calls for the timeout. He wants to check in with his team and regroup. [Applause] Heat. Heat. And some changes here for the Warriors. Draymond Green comes in for Chris Bucher. And it’s Jimmy Butler coming in for Stephen Curry. Jackson A’s. He’s checked in for Los Angeles. Anic comes in for Gabe Vincent. the Warriors training. Here’s Pajki. He’s got 11. Oh, Butler training the three. I don’t think there’s a moment on the floor that Jimmy Butler does not feel the utmost confidence. LeBron against Green. Pass to Donic. Donic converts inside creating space. Donic will move defenders around now. Pompeki. [Applause] Oh, no stopping by that time. What a performance on the offensive end. He’s making the defenders pay right now for all of the mistakes they’re making. And so it’s Dunic with it. He brings it up for Los Angeles. They’ll be off to Charlotte for a game against the Hornets. That will be their second of six road games for the team. can’t connect from short range. That’s not the type of opportunity he fails to convert very often. Butler with the bucket down low. Butler attacking in close. Such a gifted scorer. Lakers trail by four. [Applause] Now here’s Donic. Saw him with 29 points last game. Himmer the pass to LeBron and the three off target. Golden State’s gotten fewer than half of their three-pointers to go down tonight. They’re four for nine. The Lakers shooting at 46% making some buckets. [Applause] Block at six. pass to Donic. Shoots over Pajki. That one’s in there. The Warrior lead is cut down to just two points in the bucket from Luca Donuch. And it doesn’t take much for Donic to get hot. And and once that happens, boy, he is almost unguardable. Here’s PMski. He’s got 11 into the lane. LeBron with the block [Applause] outside. Green [Applause] on the wing. Heel back to Green. Shoots the three. Rebounded by the Lakers out to the wing. Down low. Here’s [Applause] and talk about putting some extra on it. That dunk was way over the top. Close game or not, he’s going to finish firm when he gets the space. Awesome rewind courtesy of the AT&T 5G Slam Cam. So, it’s the Warriors now following the bucket by the Lakers. Pass to Pajki. Green with the ball [Applause] from deep and Jimmy Butler with a three. He’s got 17. Well, when Butler’s this focused, defenders beware. Near the three-point line, it’s Donic off the mark with the little step back. Johnny [Applause] Green up on top. Guarded by Smart. Healed with the bucket. Well, those are starting to add up, guys. Up there. Last five baskets, three have been triples. There’s 39 seconds left to play in the first half. On the wing, James. And LeBron used to getting hit. This is the level of attention this man attracts from the D. He’ll take his third and fourth free throw shots of the game right here. First one falls for and getting to the line and hitting your free throws. A a good way to get back into the game. It stops the clock and extends the game and allows you the opportunity to set your defense. They’ve been perfect from the line so far here in the second quarter. Eighton, he’s checked in for the Lakers. Austin Reeves comes in for Ruie Himemer. So he hits one of two from the strike. Warriors leading by five. Shot by Heel. Nobody around. And another three for Golden State. Defensively they just look out of sync. Not closing out on the threes in time. One second separating the shot clock in game. It’s stolen. A solo fast break. The finishes it down to finish the break. And unfortunately we’ve seen a few too many of those. A lack of concentration. a turnover and an easy bucket in transition. There’s the steel. 3 seconds left. Contact on the shot and now a three-point play chance as he’ll head to the line. Yeah, what a nice play. Just a coaster coaster by himself off of that steel. The Warriors shooting their seventh attempt at the foul line in this one. And really they haven’t been able to differentiate themselves from the free throw line on the season at about 76%. Rethrow good. Pajki. [Applause] And so that’s the end of the first half. Warriors lead by 13. And a chance now to send it over to David Aldridge standing by Courtz. David, thanks very much. Steve, a good rhythm for you in the first half. What do you like most about how your team’s competing? Just like the ball movement, you know, the drive and kick. Our guys have played really well together. uh was trying to move the ball, get a great shot. We’ll see if he can keep the ball flying around as we continue. Thanks. Back to you guys. Thank you, David. And we’ll be back after halftime as the third quarter gets underway. [Applause] And guys, I want to talk for a sec about the talent level in this league. In fact, I’d say it’s never been better. You sure about that, Ernie? I sense Shaq getting restless over there. And time to talk now about that first half. What a dominant display for the Warriors. Offensively, they can post you, drive it, run cutters. They’re living large in that painted area. And the defense has tried to pack it in a little, but those guys just keep coming. That’ll do it for our show tonight. Thanks for joining us and we’ll send you back to Kevin Harland for more Hoops action. And after a very lopsided first half, we’ll see if things play out a little more evenly here in the second. Curry has been sensational. Yeah. And through the first two quarters, he has been the offense for this team. Yeah, he’s he’s shouldering the load right now and looking really comfortable while he’s doing it. Taking a look at Los Angeles. Austin Reeves out there with James. Then there’s Eightton. Then it’s Marcus Smart. And it’s Donic in at the point. Healed from outside. Rebounded by DeAndre Eaton. Eighton’s got six rebounds here tonight. Donic against Kurt from deep. LeBron. The shots good on the assist by Donic. LeBron’s got the first bucket of the third here for the Lakers. Outside Green, fires the three and Jimmy Butler with a three. 20 points for him. A retaliation there as Butler’s competitiveness flaring up as he answers from the arc. When it comes to players who like having fun, Greg, Jimmy Butler has to be way up there. Kevin, did you see his media picture for the 2324 season? He looked like he belonged in an emo band with that hairstyle. Jimmy is definitely one of those guys that likes to troll and have fun. So, it’s the Warriors now following the three by the Lakers. And there’s Butler with the flush and attacking and playing with intensity. Jimmy Butler, a ferocious competitor. And so, it’s Donic with it. He brings it up for Los Angeles. Now here’s Aton. He’s tightly guarded and Aon throws it down. Just great hands for Aiden to time that one. Warriors leading by 10. [Applause] Get it. Get it. Here’s Post. He’s averaging just around eight and a half points a game. Green with a screen on Smart. Shot clock at six. And oh boy, a lot of contact there, but he gets the call and will shoot two. That one on Smart. Buddy right there trying to score and forcing the issue a bit. The Warriors have missed two free throws in the game, going five for seven. And the first one drops. And Heel is a player who you love to see take trips to the free throw line as consistent as he is there. Both free throws good from Heel. And what an advantage. You really feel like you can always trust him when he’s at the line. Eightton the pass to Reeves. And here’s Donic. Fires from deep. And again, it’s the Lakers from deep. And we know Donis has limitless range, but for him it’s about becoming more consistent from deep. And here is Green scoreless thus far on the wing heel. Back to Green [Applause] and the rejection by Eaton. Oh man, at 71. Not a good idea to challenge Aidton there. Here’s LeBron and foul on the shot. He’ll shoot two at the free throw line. He’s gone three for four from the line. And he’s kept this percentage at a decent level right around 74. And he knocks down the first one. [Applause] And good on the second. So he makes them both. A little over two and a half minutes off the clock in this final half of play. [Applause] Green against LeBron. Green with the ball. Still scoreless. Oh, that’s superb defense from Smart. He He’s someone that just goes all out on that end. Pass to Donic. takes a three and again no good by the Lakers but only the first miss of the second half they’ve come out here with authority here’s Curry with the three rebounded by DeAndre Eton Lakers trail by seven it’s tipped Reeves the pass to Eightton lots of times you don’t mind fouling a big button is a solid foul shooter this is his first free throw of the game this season. 88% on the line. So, he has been in a comfort zone. [Applause] First free throw is good. And Eightton has done such a good job of staying focused and really staying in his lane to make the contributions that he does. [Applause] And that’s good as he hits both of his shots. And even though they’re down, they are putting on a show at the free throw line. to the paint. Stolen by Reeves to the inside and Aton throws it down. And certain guys dictate the pace of the game. Donic as much as anyone. Second half here. We’re just over three and a half minutes into it. Green against James. to the middle and stormed by Eaton. And here’s the fast break. LeBron leading the way. He shot five of six at the foul line. The first free throw is good. [Applause] Both free throws good from James. Warriors have gone two of six from the field here in the third. And we’ve got a timeout called by Steve Kerr. He wants a minute here to get things straightened out with this team. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] Let’s go to the 2K leaderboard. These teams have been terrific at turning turnovers into points. In third, the Lakers. They’re so aware defensively. I mean, an opportunistic group in terms of forcing miscues and getting out in transition. And boy do they do a great job of taking advantage. [Applause] Now off the inbound and he bangs it home with one hand. Jimmy such a well conditioned athlete using that vertical he has to get up and throw it down. And so Donic will bring it up for the Los Angeles Lakers outside James. [Applause] Back to Donic. [Applause] Down to five on the shot clock with a tie. The Warriors pull it in. Green’s got four rebounds now tonight. Now Curry, he’s got 18. [Applause] Curry through traffic. Count it. Oh, that’s tough. Tough finish. Steph’s not just a great shooter, but really great numbers through the years as being an elite finisher. Here’s and throws it down. This can make it so much easier for your teammate when you throw that lead pass that gets to him right on the money, whether that’s on the run or in the shooting pocket. outside. Green back to Curry. Donic with the block and it’s out of bounds. Nice touch by Donic. And right now, let’s watch that terrific swat. And this is why coaches stress the importance of defense. Big block there in this close game. Chris Buchet’s checked in for Green. [Applause] healed the pass to Buché. Six on the shot clock. Bush with a screen on Donic. Curry with another miss. Well, he got off to a terrific start from the perimeter, but in the second half, he can’t seem to build on that early success. No one near Reeves as he lets it go. Good. And Smart gets the assist. And that’s just really good situational awareness from Smart Realizing someone was open on that possession. The Warriors have gone somewhat so far. Four of 10 on their shots in the second half so far. fires the three and Jimmy Butler with the three. He’s got 27. Well, he now has four three-pointers this game, guys. Two in each half. He’s really spacing out the floor for his teammates. Donic with a screen for Smart. Over healed. Offensive rebound outside for Smart. It’s the three-point foul. Smart’s got 10 points in the game and just playing aggressive basketball. Smart taking what’s his out there. Warriors have gone just a bit under 50% from the field since halftime. Five out of 11. Pass to Bush outside Curry. Just five on the clock. Golden State needs to get off a shot. LeBron knocks it away. And let’s check out stats for James. His last 10 games have been exceptional. He’s averaging 20 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds. And so much of what they do on offense depends on how he plays. Well, he attracts serious attention from the defense. And that really does open up the backside for a lot of his teammates to take full advantage. And the Lakers making a change here. Hatchimz checked in. LeBron kicks to Donic to the paint. Wow. The athleticism of LeBron James. Still has the hops. LeBron one of the most forceful dunkers in the league. Golden State’s going a less than productive two of six from three-point land in the second half. Curry finds Buché beyond the arc. LeBron grabs the miss. James has got doubledigit rebounds now in the game and Aton throws it down. It’s one thing to get to your spots. It’s another thing to shoot with that kind of rhythm. And DeAndre Aiden in one right now. Here’s He 12 points for him. to stop the run. Rebounded by DeAndre Eaton. Eightton’s got rebound number eight here tonight in the game. Near the three-point line. It’s Donuch. Good. And the assist goes to LeBron. James has got assist number eight now on the night. Warriors trail by five. Now here’s Curry. He’s got 20. Three-pointer healed. The rebound by James. The game has been very close in a lot of areas, but rebounding has been the one differentiator thus far. Bounce pass from Reeds. And here’s from the arc. A good job on the glass there. Working hard to establish position and put himself in a great spot to come away with that rebound. Count that bucket. This is a one-man show right now. He’s on a mission to get him out of this hole. Lakers leading by three. To the inside, here’s a rebound by Post. Post has got his fourth rebound with that last one here tonight. And stolen by LeBron down low and finished off by LeBron. LeBron is just dominating right now. Aware of the defense and has not feared one since he came into the league. The Warriors shooting a troubling 38% in the third. Not the finest work of this offense. Bush gets it to go from beyond the arc. Bush’s got five now. No way he’s going to pass that shot up. The D is way too far back and relaxed and getting out on him. Inside and it’s blocked. Reeves against Heel with a tie. A rebound by the Lakers. Eightton’s got nine rebounds in the game. Getting it done. And many around the league believe Curry doesn’t get enough fouls called in his favor. Uh GA, what do you think? There could be some truth to that. He he gets held and grabbed more than anyone when running off screens, but especially blatant on drives to the rim. and stolen by LeBron [Applause] outside. Pass to Reeves. [Applause] Now here’s Donuch. Shot clock at five with the shot and LeBron with the basket. The assist by Donic. Donic has got five assists in the game. And here’s Curry who brings it up for Golden State. Healed outside. Hatchim grabs the miss. Lakers leading by four. James with it. And Curry picks him up defensively. Healed the pass to Curry. shoots over Donic. Second chance effort and he lays it up and in. Five points in the game. Well, he takes care of salvaging that possession for the offense by getting on the offensive glass. James against Bush. Here’s Yes, it’s James picking up the assist. James has got nine assists in the game. Great passing. 115 left in the third. Warriors trail by four. And we’ve got a timeout called by Steve Kerr. He wants to regroup and go over the strategy. [Music] [Applause] Heat. Heat. And the Lakers making a change here. Vanderbilt’s checked in. Let’s take this chance to showcase the top setup man at the small forward position in the NBA. Number one Austin Reeds. He just sees the entire floor so well. And from the wing, it’s that vision that enables him to penetrate and find the open man in a very crowded area. Well, it’s one thing not just to do it in the half court, but to see it in the open floor, recognizing your four other teammates running the wings. Those passing skills are special. Here’s PMski. 16 points for him. Oh, he’s going up for the LU here. An emphatic Lu jam. Time and time again, Butler just making the right play. The Lakers in the lead. Anjic outside and the Lakers turn it over again. And so far the story on Luca Donic, a wonderful string of games he’s put together here lately and he’s in the top 20 in assists per game. his talent for creating easy buckets for his teammates. Such an asset. And the only way you average top three in points if you have that scores mentality. He knows he’s the go-to guy and everyone else knows it as well. Here’s what the Lakers are going with right now. Vincent’s checked in for LeBron and Marcus Smart has subbed in for Luca Donic. Pass to Jackson Davis. There’s Smart. He’s got 10. three-pointer. The Lakers get it back in a new 14 to the middle. Whoops. They pick off the pass now. The Warriors moving it up. Moody finds Jackson Davis. No good that time. Man, I thought he was making that in so close. That’s some aggressive defense. It’ll count. No good on the last second attempt there. Three quarters a play and a close game here. Lakers on top up two. And we’re just moments away from the start of the fourth quarter. Stay with us. And while we can now, let’s take a look at today’s State Farm assist of the game. Dan, he’s always been the favorite to bag this honor. These kind of feeds are his bread and butter. Doesn’t happen with every point guard in the league as far as setting your teammates up. Lots more scorers now, but right there creating the scoring opportunity for his teammate. And I know speak for all of us when I say I can’t wait to see what kind of finish awaits us here in the fourth quarter in the back court. We’ll see Curry and Pajki Trace Jackson Davis out there with Chris Bucher and it’s Moody in at the three the small forward. So that’s the group out there for Golden State and here is Curry after LeBron James hitting the three. Curry with the bounce pass and Pajki now top of the key. and foul on the shot. So, he’ll get a chance at the line. And you know what? You allow a guy to get right to the rim like that, that’s your only option. And a chance to catch up on some numbers here. Scoring breakdown for the Lakers. They’ve been running away from the defense all game. I mean, loads of points here off the fast break and the opposition just hasn’t been able to adjust to that aggressive play style. Well, they’ve been fantastic tonight really enforcing giveaways and getting scores on the other end. I mean, you get a few more possessions like that, your confidence grows and you win that turnover battle. That one is off. And the second free throw. Good. That one miss was huge. He had a chance to turn this into a one-possession game. LeBron outside. Pass to Vanderbilt. And here is Hatchima defended by Moody. Four on the clock. Vanderbilt a screen on Curry and the Lakers hit again from deep. Well, he just nailed his second three of the half, guys. I’d be very aware of that if I were the defense right now. Outside. Curry launches it. Ah, Steph. Perfection from the arc. Watch out now that he’s got his first three of the half. There might be more in store. Now here is Himura defended by Moody. Here’s Smart and Bush sends it back. Now here’s Moody. Defense is right there. A shot by Pajki. No good. And here’s James. He’ll bring it up for LA. Four-point game. Go right here. Last quarter of play, about two minutes in now. Fouled in the act of shooting. Gets the bucket anyway. So, a three-point play chance for him. [Applause] And if they continue, Kevin, their outstanding free throw shooting, that’ll help them seal the deal. Warriors trail by seven. [Applause] Here’s Pompki and he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. Good. No good on the free throw. Good on the second free throw. We’re about two minutes into the fourth quarter in this one. [Music] Bush against LeBron. Aimura with a screen on Bucher. James no good. Not sure how he finds himself in so much space there. He’s kicking himself for whiffing a bit on that one. To the paint trying to find Vanderbilt. Gets it to him. And that’s LeBron. One of the best front court playmakers. That is something you just can’t teach. [Applause] And here are the Warriors now trailing here by eight. Pass to Moody. A little over two and a half minutes have passed here in the fourth quarter. Here’s Curry with the three. Drills it from outside. Curry’s got 26 points. And boy, he’s really in a groove. Dominant performance last game. Same thing this time out. seems to be nobody standing in his way. No roadblocks for him to get to his spot, capitalize, and continue to be aggressive. James and that’ll be two free throws coming up. Officials on the call with the foul and getting to the line at will. James using his smarts these days to draw those kind of shooting fouls. And he can’t get the first one. And the Warriors making a change here. Heels checked in. The Lakers also with a sub. Eightton’s checked in. And he sinks the second. And here is Curry. [Applause] Heel sets the pick for Curry. Oh, good with the triple. and battling hard on the glass. They hold the advantage here so far. From deep James and again no good by the Lakers. Warriors trail by six. Pass to Bush and stolen by James. And here we go. Fast break. James has got it. And there’s eight and that’s good on the assist by James. Eightton’s got 20. Ah the classic big man play there. just pushing right past the defense and finishing strong. Golden State’s gotten off four three-pointers in the final quarter and two of them have fallen. Now Jackson Davis, he’s covered by Eightton. I mean, even from over here, you can see that one pretty clearly. [Applause] And the first one at the line is good. Moses Moody, he’s checked in for Golden State. Jackson Davis hits them both. Los Angeles leading by six outside. Smart [Applause] pass to Hatchima over Curry and again it’s the Lakers. An even stronger second half. Tremendous efficiency at the offensive end of the floor. And it’s the Warriors with the ball. [Applause] Jackson Davis with it. He’s covered by Eightton. Bush passes to heel. [Applause] Curry deciding where to go with it. Six to shoot. With so many years in the NBA, you would think Curry would slow down, wouldn’t you, Brent? But he remains at the very top of his game. I think the best part about what we’re seeing with Steph right now, Kevin, is his competitive will. You get to this age and you get to this stage after accomplishing all the things that Steph has done and it’s still not enough. So, let’s keep enjoying him while we can. That’s good from Stephen Curry. Tell me the last time you watched Steph Curry on an NBA floor not have a smile on his face. I mean, always playing with that infectious joy. Looking at who’s out there now for the Lakers. Austin Reeves comes in for Hatchima and Donic is subbed in for Vincent. Stephen Curry hits them both. What you appreciate most about Curry is his confidence, especially when it comes to how far he can connect from outside. Smart. Pass to Eightton. And here’s Reeves outside. The Warriors pull it in. And he didn’t punish them for the weak coverage there, but they can’t count on him to continue missing. He against Smart. Healed the pass to Moody outside. Curry from outside the arc. Hits it from three-point range. Curry’s got 13 points here in the second half alone. And you can just see his confidence is rising bucket after bucket from long range. And so Donic will bring it up for Los Angeles. Three-point lead. Smart against here’s Donic. Pass to Smart. Eightton a screen on heel. Bounce pass from Smart and Aton throws it down. And Aiden just up over the top at his size to throw that one down. Here’s he now Bush. Here’s Curry. The rebound by the Lakers. Eightton’s got the glass covered here tonight. 11 boards for him. Lakers passing it around and Eightton throws it down. Oh, phenomenal alleyoop slam there. They are taking advantage of a team that looks lost out there. Warriors trail by seven. Healed the pass to Buché. [Applause] And here is Curry off target from three-point range. [Applause] Here’s Donic. Donic going to work. And the crisp passing has opened things up for them offensively. Furry with it. [Applause] And a lot of contact on that one. So he’ll shoot two here. Well, when Steph gets into the lane, he does a great job of shifting and moving the ball around and does not go away from the contact, forcing a foul. Free throw good by Curry. So both teams changing it up here. Got to get it. Good, good, good. Stephen Curry hits them both. Yeah, sometimes in a game you settle a little bit before settling in. And right now, I think he’s a big factor in how they’re getting to the line. Aton inside, banked in off the glass. Eightton’s got the lead up to nine now for the Lakers. Warriors have gone three of seven from the floor in the fourth. That’s a 42% mark in the quarter. Healed outside. Oh, and there’s the alley and the layup falls. If you came to watch a scoring battle, you’re in the right place. Yeah, both of these teams locked in on the offensive end. Going to be a highscoring affair tonight. And JJ Reick calls timeout here. He’s clearly intent on wanting to lock in and make sure everyone’s on the same page. Heat. Heat. Smarts checked in for the Lakers. Getting the latest now from our sideline reporter, David Aldridge. David, it’s all yours. Take it away. Hey guys, JJ Reick’s message with his team was simple. He told them, “Pedal to the metal.” Adding, “We’re ahead out here, but it’s not over yet. Don’t start celebrating in your head when there’s work to be done on the floor.” Back to you guys. Thanks, David. Los Angeles leading by seven. Danj outside. Foul call. Looked like the D didn’t get there in time and he’ll shoot free throws. Greg, you think about oversized point guards and the gold standard has always been Magic Johnson. Now you look at Luca Donuch and he’s certainly big for that position. Definitely some positive similarities, right? But the big difference is one of those guys has five rings and that’s not a knock on Donic. This is a team sport, but Magic’s ability to affect winning was right there with another MJ, Michael Jordan. And the first one drops and that puts him right around 90 from the free throw line. Really good work here in the second half. Both free throws good from Donic. Here’s Green. [Applause] outside. Curry jacks up a three. Reeves with the rebound. And the and they’re controlling the boards, Kevin. That’s plus five in that category. Here’s James Smart on the wing. And the officials calling for a 3second violation. Rig, we see the NBA finding players for certain actions or statements. Multiple offenders are always going to be under the microscope, Kevin. Sometimes they end up playing into those expectations, so those punishments can appear a bit skewed. Warriors trail by nine. outside. Green back to Curry. Lets it go from deep. The rebound by James. James is pass to Donic. Rubbing for Aton. He gets it in there. Throws down the alleyoop slam. Oh, and the lead gets bigger on a ridiculous offensive sequence. That dunk alone would have been spectacular. Never mind it coming at the end of an alleyoop. Green against James. Now here’s Curry. Good as Green picking up the assist. Green’s got his seventh assist of the game with that last one. And so Donic will bring it up for Los Angeles. They’ve led by as many as 11 points. Smart finds Reeves. Eighton with it. [Applause] Warriors on D. Eight-point game. Trains it from beyond the arc. The assist totals, Kevin, just continue to grow. They’re way ahead in that category. Ball movement has been flawless. Get him out. Get him out. Now here’s healed all alone. And there are the Warriors now with another bucket. He makes it look effortless out there until the defense actually presents a challenge for him. Expect those kind of results. Here’s Donic outside. Smart. It’s going by Heel. Here’s Curry. Finished off the break. Curry’s got 38 points and he’s clearly led the way offensively. The question is, can they ride him and get back into it? Lakers leading by seven [Applause] now. Donic. [Applause] Jimmy Butler comes up with the rebound. Now the Warriors moving it up and contact on the shot. So he’ll be shooting free throws here. Felt like he was getting more and more hungry as he got closer to the rim. Jimmy Butler just tenacious there. miss. And he makes the first That one is no good. Lakers leading by six. Here’s Smart. Yes, it’s James picking up the assist. And the inside defense goes hard at Smart, but he’s a clever player and just manages to get around it. Now, here’s Curry. [Applause] shoots over Donic. Not enough on that one as it misses. Well, he’s a guy they count on to produce from the mid-range. He doesn’t miss too many open looks from there. Yep, it counts. Not at all a bad passer for a center. Aton with the feed. Golden State Fate running out of time. the 11-footer from downtown. He gets hauled in by Los Angeles. And here’s Reeves outside. That’s in. That’s his fifth field goal. He’s shooting a hot 71%. Five for seven. Curry outside. Stephen Curry. What a shooter. Anything the opponent does, trust me, Steph can do it better. He’s got to be the best shooter that we’ve ever seen in the game. Curry against Donic. Eighton a screen on Curry. Back to LeBron. Reeves outside. Just three to shoot. Tons from deep three-point land. Tried to answer back, but that three is off the mark. Green against Smart. Unloads and good as it just snugs right down through the net. How many times have we seen this? You give Curry an inch and that ball’s gone. Los Angeles has gotten eight shots off from three-point land and hit half of them. Pass to Eaton. [Applause] There’s 48 seconds left here in the fourth quarter. Here’s Donic and the call on the shot that sends him to the line. They get Stephen Curry. What determination from Donic pushing his shot through despite some stiff defense to draw the foul. He gets the first and that will put them up by nine. He’s perfect from the line this time. Clutch, clutch free throws there. That should ensure they’re going home with the W. Timeout called the Warriors. They’re behind by 10. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] 44 seconds left to play here in the fourth. Curry shooting foul. As the whistle blows, he’ll shoot two free throws. Clever move by Curry taking the foul but still getting the shot off. First free throw is good and that brings them within single digits. That one falls. So he hits both of them. Curry against Donic. And the Lakers with another miss. And it’s the Warriors ball now. 8 seconds separating the two clocks. Goes up from the top of the key. It goes straight through with the switch. Curry’s got 47 points. Just a great setup there. You can see how Jimmy Butler enjoys making plays. No choice but to foul there, but but he’s probably the last guy you want to see on the line. Got this. We got this. And he cannot get the first one to drop. Tough one to miss. He’s able to hit the second one and that makes it a seven-point lead. Now a timeout called by Golden State. They trail by seven. What do you think, guys? Trying to keep Hope alive, but but I don’t see them making a comeback. Yeah, this is the classic. Too little, too late. The effort coming and not enough time for them to get back in it. Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Applause] 23 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Here’s Curry. Money. Oh, and that cuts the lead to just five. No doubt that Butler continues to improve his passing. An excellent playmaker. really wants to make his teammates better. He drops the first one and that increases their lead to six. So, he gets them both and it’s a seven-point game. Yeah, the lead getting safer and safer as these free throws from the stripe go in. Guys, let’s just go ahead and call this one. It’s over. Do you want to keep expending energy or do you want to start thinking about the next one? And so the Lakers take the win. A truly gutsy performance away from home. You know, it really was. And Kevin, when this one was hanging in the balance late, they showed just what a tough-minded group they can be. It’s time now to go courtside as we send you over to David Aldridge from the sideline. David, take it away. Thanks very much, Marcus. It is obvious you never mind sacrificing your body to make the big play. How do you lay it on the line physically? Um, just really, you know, uh, influence my teammates. You know, I lead by example. You know, they see the energy I bring. I just hope it rubbed off on those guys. It certainly did tonight, man. Congrats on the win. Back to you. Thank you, David. And that’ll wrap it up, folks. So for David Aldridge, Greg Anthony, Brent Barry, and the whole 2K Sports crew, this is Kevin Harland thanking you for being with us. But first, let’s reveal our player of the game, LeBron James.
