Spurs Jeremy Sochan Shooting Looking Good!
What’s going on everyone? So Jeremy Sohan, he was uh and has been working out all off seasonason, particularly on his offensive game, right? Because you know what he gives you defensively, great rebounder, can make plays, kind of be that Swiss Army knife type guy, but he is a major offensive liability, right? Can’t shoot the basketball. You know, he’s very limited in what he can do. And it was nice to see the the videos that are going around of Jeremy Sohan putting in the work, right? Hitting shots. I mean, his shot, they clearly changed his shot. You can see the difference. He looks more smooth. He’s hitting it with confidence, right? And it was just great to see. It was like a breath of fresh air, right? Now, look, a couple things about that. One, it’s one thing to be able to shoot in a wide open gym without hands in your face compared to the actual NBA. Two, we’ve seen a lot of this, right, from various players and teams and organizations. like everyone posts that that highlight reel in the off season of like what they’ve been working on and how great they look, right? We’ve seen guys that, you know, oh man, this guy’s going to be the best three-point shooter basketball and he’s still 20% for three-point r again, very big difference between, you know, training regimes. I mean, most guys, even Shaq could knock down threes in in an open gym, right, with regularity. Dwight Howard. There’s like, wasn’t there like a video that, you know, 10 years ago of like Dwight making like 20 straight threes or like 18 out of 20 threes or something crazy like that, right? Like it’s one thing to do it in the open gym, it’s another thing to actually do it out there on the basketball court. And I’ve talked about Jeremy Sohan, you know, pretty frequently and I talked about like every every time I bring up Jeremy Sohan, there’s two camps. There’s the camps of like he is the greatest player ever. He’s going to be the greatest spur ever. You cannot trade him. You know, Michael Jordan who he’s the new Dennis Rodman, right? you cannot get rid of him. Like it’s crazy some of the stuff that I hear about Jeremy Sohan. And then you get the other camp that are like, he’s garbage. He’s trash. Like get this guy off my team. And I think it’s somewhere in the middle, right? I think he’s a good basketball player that has a lot of utility, a lot of versatility, a guy that can really kind of impact a team. I just don’t know if he can be what you want him to be on the Spurs team and be your starting level power forward. He might not be able to be a starting level power forward anywhere until he improves his offensive game. But look, not all hope is lost, right? Guys can improve, guys. I mean, look at Aaron Gordon, right? Look at how good of a three-point shooter he’s become, right? Just putting in the work, putting in the hours, putting in the reps, getting the shots up, right? Because my my concern with the with Jeremy Sohan in the Spurs is he’s in a contract year. He’s probably not going to want 10 million a year, right? he’s probably going to want, you know, a pretty penny and so the Spurs are going to have to make a decision on him and they’re going to have to make a tough decision regardless. But you could, you do have a need for that starting power forward position. Jeremy Sohan and his ability to play and slot in that four would be nice, but you need him to not be an offensive liability, right? Like they they’ve tried so many different things with Jeremy Sohan from the point Sohan where you know they’re trying to run the offense through him and whatnot and it just didn’t work, right? to where they they try to, you know, put him at the four. We’ve seen him like be versatile in defending guards and all that stuff. Like, he’s a guy that I do think could be very versatile. I think he’s a guy that if if he’s willing to take 10 to 12 million a year and be and come off the bench and be a rotation piece and, you know, on the random nights here and there he starts, but kind of be that Swiss Army knife guy as he kind of continues to grow and develop on his offensive game, then fine, keep him. But I just I don’t think that that’s what he’s going to want. at some point he’s going to want to prove that he’s a starter. At some point he’s going to want to to get the minutes in the bag and all that stuff. And I just think if you’re the Spurs, you can’t do that given that you’re going to have to pay, you know, Wimi the following season and then Steon Castle and Dylan Harper and all. And there’s already questions about like what do they do with Darren Fox, right? And that they might trade Darren Fox at some point. I don’t think they do it this year, but at some point, sure, at some point, I could see that end up happening, right? this team is going to get very expensive and very fat and very uh very quickly, right? And with the new CBA, your teams are already having to make decisions that they never would have made prior, already having to get off of guys early when they never would have done that prior. Right? This was pre-new CBA. I wouldn’t have any questions about Jeremy Sohan sticking around, right? Because the Spurs are willing to pay good whatnot. I think he gets paid and they figure it out later on down the road, right? because you can go into the tax and all that other stuff, but under the new CBA where Jeremy where Jeremy Sohan can be the difference between you maintaining flexibility or losing all of it, I don’t know if they keep him unless he really does start to show strides on the offensive side of the ball. He can defend. We know that he’s versatile defensively. He can rebound. He can make plays. He can do a little bit of everything. He’s still incredibly young. Just turned 22. He’s young enough to have been drafted in this year’s draft, right? Like there’s guys in this draft that were old that are older than he is right now. And so again, there’s plenty of room for upside and potential and growth on this young man, but he’s got to start to show he’s got to start to show the argument for why the Spurs should keep him, right? Because if he’s not showing that and it’s kind of more of the same. The problem is he hasn’t really improved, right? Like that’s the issue. and he’s gotten more opportunity and more minutes and on ball opportunities and roles and and whatnot and even the varying degrees of minutes his stats he’s literally the same player literally his point total all three seasons are 11 points 11 points 11.6 11.4 four. It’s literally the same stat line. You look at, okay, his steals 08.8.8 all three years. Let’s look at his blocks. Half block, half block, half block all three years. Okay, let’s look at his rebounds. 5.3, 6.4. Okay, 6.5. Same statline. I mean, you go look at it. Look at his numbers. Look at his stat. Look at everything. his three-point percentage 24.6 to 30.8. Okay. Next year 30.8, right? Like same same exact stat line, right? Like it’s just again you’re getting the same you’re not seeing the the year after year growth, right? Usually you’ll see a guy come in, can’t shoot, you know, 24% from three-point range, jumps to 30.8. It’s like, okay, boom, there you go. And the next year it’s like 32%. It’s like, okay, we’re we’re heading in the right direction, right? And the guy will go from being a you know whatever five three and three guy to like a 11 six and five guy right to then uh you know a 13 you know six and six guy like there’s something like rebounds you’ll see kind of level out see assist total sometimes kind of level out all that stuff but like the point like there’s key there’s areas you look like percentages and and three-point percentage and point totals and all this stuff it’s the same it’s literally every all the stats are the same which means he’s been the same player since he came in the league now he’s going into year four right and again he’s not a bad player I mean any player averaging you know basically 12 and seven on 53% from the floor as well as being able to to dish out a couple assists a game he’s a utility guy Swiss Army knife guy he’s a good basketball player I don’t want to sell him short or be like oh the dude’s trash get off of him or anything like that like no the guy is a good basketball player but good isn’t oh hey let’s now pay him 20 million. You can’t pay guys just to pay guys like you could in the past, right? You’d see teams that would pay guys because they didn’t want to lose them or you know it was kind of like ah you know it’s it’s 15 million let’s pay him 15 like now you can’t right like Jeremy Sohan might be like hey I’ll take 15 million. can’t you can’t pay him, right? Because now now you’re stuck with that, you know, and if he doesn’t continue to improve, yeah, you’ll find teams that’ll probably trade for him because they want them, but you’re taking on like it’s just becomes a mess for no reason, right? Jeremy Sohan needs to start taking those strides. I like what I saw from him, but we need to see it translate to the actual games. But let me know your thoughts and opinions down in the comments. The San Antonio Spurs have a Decision to Make with Jeremy Sochan. Sochan has been working on his shooting and offensive game all offseason. If he can just get a serviceable offensive game that could be huge for the Spurs.

The Spurs have asked Sochan to play out of his natural position against centers. The Spurs also experimented with Sochan's game by asking him to play point guard. It didn't work. Maybe we owe him more time to develop his game in his natural position (power forward) after that failed experiment.
Did you view the Stat Defender video on Sochan I told you to watch?
Sochan's defensive ability makes him valuable. If he doesn't want "the bag", then I see him being a Spurs lifer.
Building and keeping together a SuperTeam is possible when key players like Wemby-Sochan-Castle-Fox-Harper-Bryant understand Catholic social doctrine on "just wages". Are they greedy types who "want their bag"; or do they want to win titles and be known as the greatest NBA dynasty ever?
So will you be watching him play for Poland in Euro Ball so you can see whether he has proved you wrong?
