🚨NBA Insider Drops MAJOR UPDATE On Jonathan Kuminga Free Agency | Warriors News
Before we begin on today’s edition of Warriors Today by Chat Sports, a fellow Chat Sports employee, Nick Roloff over at the Heat Report was talking some smack earlier today in the office. Let’s prove him wrong before we start on today’s show. He said we couldn’t get 500 likes. Come on, Dub Nation. You know what to do. Go down below, hit that thumbs up icon. [Music] What’s going on, Dub Nation? You’re watching Warriors Today by Chat Sports. I am your host Tyler Smith and yes, we are talking Jonathan Kaminga again. And I understand I’ve been reading the comments. You guys are saying that I’m putting out videos and not presenting anything new. But today we have a new quote from an NBA insider as far as what Kaminga’s current demands are and how far apart the Warriors are in contract negotiations. We all know in all likelihood that Kaminga will end up resigning with the Golden State Warriors, but his side is still exploring signing trade options. Here’s what Mark Stein had to say though on the latest in restricted free agency. It is a disaster across the league. He said since there are no cap space teams in circulation to emerge with an offer sheet to Cam Thomas or fellow restricted free agents like Golden State’s Jonathan Kaminga and Chicago’s Josh Giddy, Brooklyn appears to be in no rush to expedite discussions with Thomas’s representation. Thomas, like Kaminga and Giddy, is said to be seeking a salary in the $30 million range annually. I’ll say this. Uh I know I’ve been trashing Kaminga for quite a while here on the channel, but I’ll I’ll even admit this like he’s way better of a case to make $30 million annually than Cam Thomas. And I would even argue Josh Giddy, at least Kaminga in his game has a little bit of defensive upside. Cam Thomas is a small scoring guard who is never really going to be much of a factor on that end. And then Josh Giddy isn’t really guard either. And he really doesn’t look to score all that much as far as the jump shooting category. We know Kaminga does. His efficiencies aren’t there yet, but hopefully he can get there as his career goes on. Uh you guys know how I feel though about what I believe the Warriors of Kamega should find a resolution to. Now, there are three paths to what he could do. Uh I guess what Golden State could do as well because there are two sides to this equation. The Warriors are like they are happy to bring him back. They do want to bring him back. The front office has said multiple times they are willing to negotiate a deal to have him part of the roster for years to come. But there’s also some people that and some insiders talking about the fact that they want to resign him in order to trade him down the line. That’s absolutely an option and it still seems like the most likely option that ends up happening and that’s kind of how we’re going to rank all three of these paths. Mark Stein did say though as far as what the Warriors are offering to this point. We know about all the conflicting reports about oh the Warriors never offered $25 million a year. I I believe that they actually did offer something at least close to that back in October before the season began. But in the leadup to free agency after the season concluded, obviously there were no numbers exchanged there. The number that is coming out now per Stein is 2 years $40 million, and that is a ways away from a $30 million annual salary. Um I’m not so sure that Kaming will end up, you know, accepting a deal like this, but it’s what’s on the table right now. He might end have to end up uh, you know, putting up or shut up if if that this ends up being like the Warriors stand firm offer. And my guy GSWCBA, he did play out kind of what Golden State’s cap sheet would look like. They just avoid the second apron by a couple of million dollars. And they fill out the roster obviously with a couple of the likely signings, Al Horford, DA Anthony Melton, and also Seth Curry, who we all know that the Warriors have interest in. I know Curry himself is mutual interest. He’s always wanted to play with his brother Steph likewise as well. And then you get resigned GP2 potentially and give Alex Tui or Will Richard. You kind of flip-flop those two guys. uh one of the last active roster spots for Golden State to fill out a full 15. But I could also see Golden State potentially moving on from a guy like Taran Armstrong or Jackson Row and then slotting back into one of those two-way slots and leaving a roster spot open running with 14 guys. And like I said, I have a hard time believing that the figure you saw on your screen there is something that Kaminga is going to accept. And to this point, there’s been no movement. We have not heard anything getting remotely closer. We’ve just heard that they’ve offered a number. Kaminga hates it. He wants 30 million and Golden State’s not coming anywhere close to that. They have never exceeded anything as far as what Brett Seagull said as well. Anywhere from 20 to $23 million annually. So, we’ll see if Golden State can help meet in the middle with Kaminga, but I wouldn’t go anywhere past $24 million a season. Now, could that deal end up being more enticing to Kaminga if it was like a one to oneplus 1? We’ll talk about what Kamega could be on this upcoming season if he were to sign a qualifying offer and be on a one-year deal heading a restricted free or unrestricted free agency next year. But that would only be make it $8 million this upcoming season. Would he be enticed to take a one plus one with a player option for next season? $20 million to play with Golden State this year. Plus, that still gives them the opportunity to trade him during the season. The qualifying offer eliminates uh it gives you a no trade clause for Kaminga. So, like that that’s kind of what it looks like right now as far as where these two sides are on bringing him back to Golden State, but Kaminga’s side of things is way more focused on finding a sign and trade partner. He does not want to be in Golden State anymore. And it seems like his his representation and and and all all indications have made that pretty clear that he wants to be elsewhere or else they he would try to come to a closer number with the Golden State Warriors. As of right now, there’s only I I don’t even know if I could say a couple of teams interested in making a Kaminga trade. There were obviously some teams that were rumored throughout this entire saga, this whole leadup. The Nets were obviously the long rumored, you know, in season kind of speculated team that would have an interest, but they never really had any at all. And obviously, we know they have their own Cam Thomas situation to worry about right now. The Kings are one of the teams that’s I’d say the Kings have gotten the closest to making a Kaminga deal happen, but Golden State rejected their trade offer of Devin Carter and Dario Sarich. Plus, Sarich also has a trade uh restriction that doesn’t let up all the way until September 13th. So, that deal cannot even be finalized at this point if Golden State wanted to. The Heat went out and traded for Norman Pal. They really seem off of the Kamega sweep sweep stakes at this point. A one for one swap with Andrew Wiggins is off the table. The Bulls, they are another team that is close but isn’t close at the same time. They went out and added Isaac Aoro via trade. They could drafted Noah Sen. So, a couple of guys who can muddle up whatever role Kaminga would play in the Windy City. And then uh the Phoenix Suns um that was looking like a maybe. I probably would have taken a Grayson Allen and Nick Richards type of package from the Phoenix Suns, but they don’t really have much first round draft capital that Golden State wants. Like Golden State just really does not like the assets that would be coming back from a Suns package for Kaminga. So, as it stands right now, this is where we are. The Warriors and Jonathan Kaminga, both sides mutually, they they want to come to this same conclusion, and that’s finding a trade that works with the Chicago Bulls. But the Bulls interest in Kaminga is a little bit overstated in my opinion. There really hasn’t been much coming out, and we’ve heard from Bulls insiders this offseason that there really isn’t all that much interest there from Chicago. So, I feel like Golden State would have to make it really worth their while to make a deal. Plus, they have the giddy stuff to worry about. The Kings, on the other hand, they’re the team that actually would I I would assume wants Jonathan Kaminga a lot more than Chicago does. Phoenix wants Kaminga, but Golden State really has no business there. Sacramento wants Kaminga, and I think Golden State would probably be open to find to making a package work with Sacramento. So, we do have two trade ideas from my guy Brett Seagull over at Clutch Points and he said this four team mega deal cuz honestly with the way the the cap is in this league, you’re going to have to get teams like the Jazz, you know, absorbing that Terry Rosier contract right there. Like it it’s not going to be very easy to make a one forone deal, especially when you consider the financial implications of Kaminga and his uh baseear compensation due to his restricted free agency. Like the 50%, the 100%. We’ve talked about it a bunch here on the channel, but it makes things very very tricky. The Warriors would get Devin Carter like their original Kings offer uh presented, but they would also get Haywood Highmith, a really solid 3 and D wing from the Miami Heat in this deal and a first round draft pick comes into play. A 2027 first round pick top eight protected. So, it could be, you know, could be worth Golden State’s wild to take a fly around something that could be a a late lottery pick there down the line. the first year without Steph Curry potentially. Uh the Heat will be getting Malik Monk and KJ Martin. So they’ll be getting probably an upgrade there over Highmith and Rosier. And the Jazz, you know, they get a swap from Miami just for participating in taking on that fat Rosier contract. Now, from my point of view, like I love this. This is a great deal. Uh I think it elevates and and upgrades upon the Kings previous offer and you really uh become a much more I I guess higher elevated defensive team. team like Golden State was already very solid on that end this past year, but those two guys are really two versatile, switchable defenders that off of Golden State’s bench could could really blossom and and give them maybe one of the best units in the entire league. But on the other hand, like I don’t really think Miami is willing to do to get involved in that deal. I was talking to Nick Rolloff earlier and he was like, “Well, I got to give up a swap um Rosier and Hwood Highmith in order to get Malik Monk.” like I he wasn’t very interested in that and I’m not so sure the Miami front office would be either and you have to like are the Jazz 100% okay taking Terry Rosier on? I know he has a relationship prior with Danny A, but uh who knows if they want to, you know, get in that business. I know he’s expiring and they’re not going to be competitive, but who knows? Like you four sides have to come to an agreement there. And if Golden State’s the only one that’s in love with it, obviously Sacramento uh could could be as well as they’re only giving up Carter and Monk. Um we could see that end up going down. But uh I I think the next trade that we we we present to you guys is maybe going to be a little bit more likely than the four team at Blockbuster. This one involving a one for one deal with Chicago. So it’s not Nicole Vousvich, it’s not um Kobe White, you know, players that we’ve talked about coming back in a Kaminga return before. We’ve also recently mentioned the prospect of bringing in Io Dumo, a nice combo guard who could play on both sides of the floor um back in a deal. And I think honestly long-term prospects, he’s probably better than Kobe or at least contributes more to winning at the from Golden State’s point of view. Plus, you get another platoon center there in Jaylen Smith. You know, a guy who maybe hasn’t seen the right opportunity yet. The Chicago has been a losing team and just really who I I I think he’s gone by the wayside. He’s been really forgotten about to be quite honest with you. You also get a lottery protected 2029 first. Um, if that doesn’t convey, it would end up being two future seconds. And you also get another second round pick on there as well. The Bulls would get Kaminga and they would also get Trace Jackson Davis as well in this deal. So swap in a couple of centers and you’re swapping Kaminga for Io Dumo, somebody who I think could play a really really good role player uh type of, you know, um fit long term on this team. But that being said, which trade entice you a little bit more? The four team mega deal that sends him to the Kings brings in Haywood Highmith and Devin Carter and a top eight protected first. I think that the draft capital in that deal is probably a little bit more enticing, but the player overall in Io Dumo for Chicago would be who I think is the best player coming back in either of those two deals. Who do you guys think? Sacramento, Chicago. Which trade would you like to make for Jonathan Kaminga? You let me know in the comments section. Like I just said, IO’s the best player in that deal. And to be honest with you, I’m I’m trying to push as many chips into this center of the table for Steph, Jimmy, and Draymond to have as good of a chance to win a title as as they possibly can. Um, so I want as good a basketball player as we could possibly acquire. Plus, Deon Carter, yes, he was a lottery pick last season. He is older than Jonathan Kaminga. So, we’ll see uh if the Warriors end up giving in and taking him back as the centerpiece of a deal, but I if I had a choice or if Golden State had a choice, I think they would go with the Bulls deal as well. We’ll talk more about Kaminga in just a moment and the doomsday scenario that could be presented. But first, see this link right here? Right there. Yeah, that link right there. The 2025 playoff shirts are on a massive sale with our friends over at Fanatics. Go get yours today. I put it in the comments section and description of today’s video. Go down below, click it, and get yourself some fresh Warriors playoff merch. All right, last scenario. It’s a doomsday one. And that’s he Jonathan Kaminga signing and accepting the $7.9 million qualifying offer. If you don’t remember what I said earlier in the show about the qualifying offer, it gives him a no trade clause and it also has him on a one-year deal entering unrestricted free agency next off seasonason. So, Golden State would be so on getting any assets back for JK. This is doomsday. We are cooked if this is this happens. NBA executives have been commenting and and and telling insiders that Golden State is absolutely screwed if Kaminga ends up accepting the qualifying offer. And the bad news is Anthony Slater came out and said that this is something that he is considering. Both sides, Kaminga and his representation are considering gambling on themselves and signing the qualifying offer. I will say the history behind signing the qualifying offer is very, very murky and it doesn’t always result in guys getting a fat payday in the following season. more often than not it does it those guys are playing on the minimum contract but I would be curious to see the fallout of all this like I’d be curious to see how Steve Kerr would react how the front office would react like how his teammates would react like this is really awkward for uh the Warriors here if Kaminga ends up accepting that. Uh, so I I I would probably advise against it from his point of view as far if if he wants to have any chance at upping his stock for next summer. Like this just doesn’t seem like the best course of action for him. Now, I will say um for those of you who stick stuck around as long as you have in on today’s video, Jonathan Kaminga is set to play in Afro Basket, some international play here in the summer, it starts on August 12th. So, it seems like we’ll get a resolution, I would presume, if Kaminga wants to get that all wrapped up before he goes out there and risks injury uh in the next two weeks. We’ll see Kaminga’s uh situation get resolved. With that being said, there’s three paths. We’ve talked about them all on today’s show. What will the Kaminga resolution be? Will he resign with Golden State? Will he find a will everybody find a side and train partner? Or will he doom the Warriors and sign that $8 million qualifying offer? You let me know. What will the Kuminga resolution be? Re-sign with GSW, Sign & Trade or Signs Qualifying Offer
I really think the media is makin this way worse than what it is tbh cus he never came out publicly and said he doesn’t want to play here anymore, but has said he just wants a consistent role and not be put to the side.
two words: keegan. murray.
Trey Lyles over Seth. And Simmons over GP2?
the goat of kuminga news from the man too brave to bother trying another job
Take the Chi trade and don't look back. Time to move on.
So nothing
UNCANNY HOW YOU CAN TAKE NO INFORATION BORE EVERYONE FOR 15 MINUTES AND FREAK PEOPLE OUT WTH OR WITHOUT GLASSES. TRY SUNGLASSES, DARK TINT
front office is really stupid. there not getting what they are for in return to sign and trade. Take the dam L let leave and sign somewhere else that simple!

Kuminga doing mutual destruction sounds right his management ass
Nah kuminga isn't returning at all his agent has already confirmed it
This whole thing with JK's camp trying to manifest a 30mil/year contract out of thin air reminds me of "Mean girls" trying to make fetch happen. It ain't happening bro.
SKIP
Just have an Sign And Trade for DeRozan for kuminga thats it
I don't think Kuminga signing the qualifying offer would be the doomsday scenario everyone's making it out to be. They'd get him for one season at a discounted $7.9 million and he'd be highly motivated to earn that same big payday he's trying to get right now. Sure, he'd walk for nothing after next season, but how good have any of these offers/sign and trade proposals been for him up until now?
Kuminga is an ISO player that won't pass the ball, but can't shoot and limited defensive capabilities.
Just because an NFL prospect can run a 4.3 40 doesn't mean he can catch a ball or take a hit.
Kuminga is a bench player not worth anything what he thinks his value is
Another crap pick from unibrow that will haunt us forever!
JK is DELUSIONAL..He is not that guy…😒😒😒🙄
They need to make a trade with the Bulls,Vucevic for Kuminga,Warriors need a big Center to tryto compete in the West Division.the Warriors have Small Roster no chance.💪👊
CHI
Either Kerr goes or Kuminga…. He's not signing for 20 mill per… this is a HB treatment. Lacob is cheap..ish again
Give Camila $30 million if the Golden State Warriors gave Draymond Green $100 million contract and this man can’t score 25 points in the NBA game and he’s getting older so which means his athleticism is going down not up he’s not LeBron James LeBron James is losing his athleticism Why the fuck did we give Draymond Green that bad ass contract? We should’ve never gave Draymond no hundred million dollars and now we’re debating on giving Jonathan 30 million per year for at least four years Jonathan Amiga is literally only asking for about 120,000,000 over a four year time span but we gave Draymond Green once again $100 million trade Draymond Trey Draymond Green with Buddy Hill get a player in return and give Jonathan Kuminga his money
Also, just because Jonathan Kuminga is trying to force the Warriors to give him what he’s worth the Warriors need to understand he may want to still play with them, but he’s not gonna play for cheap like come on. This is not Stephen Curry. Stephen Curry played for very cheap when he came to his first what I’m gonna say six years in the league. Come on from another country the contract that Jonathan just came off of that was enough to change his whole family life in Africa, and still have a Kings Ransom left over John. Think ain’t hurting for money. He don’t have to live in America. They need to pay him.
How about Kings trading Derozan in a 3 or maybe 4 team trade to get a good asset back that they can offer to the Warriors
