Salary Cap Breakdown – San Antonio Spurs
The most important part of the off seasonason for the San Antonio Spurs was the draft where they selected Dylan Harper with the number two pick and Carter Bryant with the 14th pick. Still on their rookie scale contracts, they added just a little bit of money to the Spurs salary cap heading into next season. But they made a few other moves as well. First, they traded Malachi Brham and Blake Wesley, two players from the 2022 draft class, to the Washington Wizards for stretch big man Kelly Olen. Then they also brought in a couple of free agents. First, they offered a 4-year, $40 million contract to Luke Cornett, an offer that the Boston Celtics couldn’t afford to match. And they also signed Lindy Waters III at the minimum. And that’s pretty much all the Spurs have done so far this off season. And I wouldn’t expect any other big player acquisitions, but there might be a few extensions signed in San Antonio as next season draws closer. Specifically, De’aran Fox is eligible to sign for four more years at $229 million. So, while the Spurs are still currently under the luxury tax, over the next few years, they’re going to get a lot more expensive.
