We NEED To Talk About The Los Angeles Lakers…
So, some moments in the NBA feel like the end of a chapter, and others, well, they feel like the start of something entirely new. For the Los Angeles Lakers, this season might be a little bit of both. LeBron James is 40 years old, so it’s almost time for him to exit ship, but nonetheless, he’s managing to still be effective by playing chess in a league full of checkers. This year is something that aids in helping the Lakers when it comes to another player they can go to. But this upcoming season will definitely be something different. Because for the first time in a long time, LeBron isn’t the only one holding the pin. And the team isn’t looking for him to be their sole leader or the one that calls the shots. The one who is steering the ship now is Luca Donuch. And with LeBron maybe being done this year, the Lakers making a couple key moves to help out the Stars, and Luca still having revenge on his mind after being traded from Dallas, this year won’t just be a subpar regular season and playoff run. as if the pieces truly work together like they think, this could be the start of something special. Like seriously, when you have a 26-year-old who can carry a heavy load and is committed to building a strong legacy, this is when you know you’re in for a ride. Long three-pointer. That’s good. And you can hear the roar there. That right there isn’t just a Luca highlight. This is showing you that he is the blueprint. Notice how Luca doesn’t just use the screen to come off fast and go score right away. He instead manipulates the space by shifting the defenders with his eyes only. And once you bite on that, well, he’s making you pay in a quickness. Since coming into the league, we’ve seen Don be this guy who controls the offense and can shape an entire team’s identity. And this upcoming season will be a test if he can rise to the occasion under extremely bright lights. Before getting a Hall of Fame level player in Donage, for the past half decade, the Lakers lived and died by LeBron James and Anthony Davis and then depended on role players to fit the mold. Some will say Austin Reeves is the best start option in the NBA. So he also added in a ton of value next to these two, but something was still missing. So instead of waiting for the offseason, they improved this team early by making a massive trade by sending 80 to the Mavericks for Luca Donic. Now most of us thought this trade would bring fireworks in terms of Luca’s play. But with him coming off an injury, having to create chemistry with a new team, and just overall getting adjusted to his new life, he kind of looked off and a little tired. And I already know a lot of you are about to start typing in the comments disagreeing and blah blah blah. And I know why. Because throughout this shift of scenery, Luca averaged 28 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. And for most players, this would absolutely be amazing. But for Luca, this is pretty average considering he only shot 43% from the field. And at times, his presence could feel like it was hurting the team. With that newly found motivation, we’ve seen Luca slim down this summer, honestly, looking the best he’s looked in a while. And it makes me wonder if we’ll get that young and quicker Luca Donic play style once again. Now, hold on one second. Let’s not get carried away. We might not see him move as explosive as he once did, but the main thing I want to see from Donic is how locked in he is when he steps on the floor. I know we tend to take possessions off. He can get frustrated about fouls, but let’s be honest, when we see Luca key in on a mission and catch fire, there’s certainly nothing you can do. With all that said, Luga will be the one the Lakers look to to lead him now and in the near future. But that doesn’t immediately exile LeBron James. For two whole decades, LeBron has rewritten what’s possible in this league. He shattered records, shifted his play style many times, and continues to outlast entire eras. And even now, as he goes into year 23, he still remains as one of the best players on the planet, whether you like it or not. Now, yes, all that sounds good and can somewhat be factual, but the real truth is that things are getting harder. The wear and tear doesn’t show up in the box score all the time, but it shows up in recovery, effort, and the mental focus throughout an entire game. There were times last season where we would see LeBron get lost on possessions, not really give it his all, and then on offense, he would run to one of those corners to make life easier for himself. All these things right here will simply make things harder on the other guys if this becomes a habit next season. But with all that being said, he still put up 24 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists at age 40. That right there is not just longevity. That’s unheard of. And if you’re hating, you’re flat out crazy. Like, I get it. I understand he’s not going to be able to put the team completely on his back like he did in the past. But hey, let him have his sight set on the rim with bad intentions. Well, guess what? He can get there with no problem. the lead 14. James down the middle fires it in. This here is nowhere near peak LeBron when he was so in the air to put defenders on nasty posters as nowadays we see a more calculated LeBron who can get to his spots on the court with just a couple moves and bada bing it’s money team. Hopefully we get to see LeBron play at a high level as this will not only help LA get closer to their goal of winning a championship but it also takes pressure off some of the newly acquired pieces. And one I’m talking about specifically is DeAndre Aiden. Out of all the moves LA made this off seasonason, none come with more risk or reward than bringing in DeAndre Aiden. For years, and I mean years, Aiden has existed in basketball purgatory. Like for real, he’s good enough to produce. Clearly has the talent to be a star, but he’s never been able to silence the doubters. And maybe that’s for a valid reason. He wasn’t the leader Phoenix wanted. He wasn’t the savior Portland needed. And honestly, he wasn’t fully bought in. But maybe, just maybe, he was exactly what LA was missing. When looking at a paper, Aiden is only 26 years old. He’s averaged a double double every year of his career. He has finals experience, playoff reps, and most importantly, he fits what the Lakers need. When you put a big net to Luca and LeBron, they automatically look like highle players due to how well these two can create good looks on the floor. Looking up for Jackson Hayes. I mean, look at Jackson Hayes. Luca made him look like a freak of nature with those athletic alleyoops that would get Krypto Arena rocking. So when you take what Luca can provide with his playmaking, pair it with Aiden who should have a newfound motivation playing with such stars, the sky is truly the limit with this twoman connection. Now these three could be looked at as the big three of this team or you could go ahead and throw in Austin Reeves in that mix if that’s who you rather prefer. But the thing is, when you look at this team, it’s not like they have a ton of depth when it comes to other guys who can simply go get a bucket when asked, or players who can manage the offense when Luca or LeBron is out. Sure, you have Austin Reeves who can lead a unit and put the team on his back when needed, but you’re going to need other players who can play their role at a solid level. Marcus Smart was brought in strictly for defense, but hopefully he can add in on the offensive end without taking away too much. Jake Laria was picked up to be a dependable floor spacer. And hey, Bronnie James might be someone who can hit the floor and be a spark defensively. As much as this team is exciting, has big names, and can produce some big moments, the Western Conference is truly no joke. And if they want to make a deep playoff push or potentially get to the finals, it certainly won’t be easy. In the comments below, let’s talk about the good with this team, the things they need to improve, and what we can expect them to do next year. Last season Bron had to play center and had 3 different teams last season. Putting a great roster together is all on Rob and Jeanie. He was our best player in the playoffs last season, that shouldn’t have been the case
This team currently; is lacking a legit perimeter defender and someone I want them to get is Thybulle. A 6'5 2/3 who is a legit defender who can guard 1-3, who shot 36% from 3 over his last 3 seasons, and played on average 65 games besides this past season for the first time in his career. I would love for them to get a 3rd center but I feel like them getting Thybulle should be their main priority before training camp.
Rui is the big 3 and the playoff showed it twice not just once in rui bron and Luka get rid of AR or bench him for smart .Trade AR for some defensive help we got all of the offense we need but dalton and AR got to go for some extra wing defense that can shoot but if vando come with a 3 point shot it will basically cover up their flaws because if he turn into a solid shooter than can start Luka vando rui bron and ayton and bench AR and bronny and trade Vincent and dalton for some more wing defense
This roster so far is not built to contend significantly in the West. Offseason moves have been underwhelming.
The people & fans should be grateful & thankful for LeBron because without him there wouldn’t have been AD or that championship & it wouldn’t be no Luka neither
1st round exit
Lbj should have been 3rd option at this point. F___ Darvin and Prince. Get the bum out of here already, fyi, Eddie Jones could have easily filled the Kobe role. Sorry real fan here, my actual home town team. Ps send flippers to Vegas already!
