Lakers’ LeBron James has played with most No. 1 overall picks in NBA history

Lakers’ LeBron James has played with most No. 1 overall picks in NBA history

LeBron broke another record with DeAndre Aton on the Lake Show. The King has officially played with nine different first overall picks. 1995 first overall pick Joe Smith when he was in Cleveland. 2007 first overall pick Greg Odin started six games in LeBron’s last year in Miami. 2005 first overall pick Andrew Bogat broke his leg 58 seconds into his first and only game with LeBron in Cleveland. 2008 first overall pick Derek Rose. That duo lasted a whole 16 games. 1992 first overall pick Shaquille O’Neal could have and would have won a ring together if the linkup was about 5 years earlier. 2004 first overall pick Dwight Howard. They won a championship together in the bubble. But we know D12 was always effective in Disneyland. 2012 first overall pick Anthony Davis. Won a chip together but torn apart by Nico. 2011 first overall pick Kyrie Irving. Won a chip together but torn apart by Kyrie. And now 2018 first overall pick DeAndre Aton just landed in LA. But having said that, Braun may not even be there to yell at him about getting back on defense next season.

LeBron James was the No. 1 pick in the 2003 NBA Draft.

He knows plenty about what it’s like to be taken first overall.

He’s also got more familiarity with that than anyone in NBA history.

Deandre Ayton, the Los Angeles Lakers’ new free agent signing, will be the ninth No. 1 overall pick to be a teammate of LeBron’s. That’s the most in league history.

The list:

Joe Smith

Shaquille O’Neal

Greg Oden

Andrew Bogut

Kyrie Irving

Derrick Rose

Dwight Howard

Anthony Davis

Deandre Ayton

  1. Let's not start a narrative here. He only played with AD & Kyrie at their peaks. Smith was old & never good, Oden was broken down, Dwight was still solid but out of his prime, Shaq was old & washed, Rose was broken down & out of his prime, Bought played one game with him, Ayton has had a disappointing career so far.

  2. Most of these players were washed so don’t even try to say “Bron had the most help ever”

  3. Really? Is that what we are doing? Whashedup D rose? Washed up diesel? Washed up D Howard? Kyrie and AD yes but the rest pufff

  4. To the silly folks in the comments. He said, the most #1 overall picks. He didn't say all of them were in their prime. Why change the narrative. The fact is, he played with the most #1 overall picks, including being #1overall himself.

    He missed Joe Smith.

  5. You guys remember when the GOAT debate included who Jordan and Lebron played with to win the amount of rings they had, funny how that all stopped after Lebron got AD and then Westbrook right after, Bron fans knew they were looking ridiculous "Lebron hasn't had any help hes only played with Wade, Bosh, Kyrie, Love, AD, Ray Allen, Shaq, Westbrook, Dwight, Luka" meanwhile Jordan only needed Pippen for 6 rings🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

  6. Also with nine Chucky Brown. Webber, Coleman, Duncan, Admiral, Glenn Robinson, Danny Manning, Hakeem, worthy, Brad Daugherty,

  7. With all those 1st over all picks and he's only been able to win 3 and a half rings in 22 years. That's pretty pathetic for someone being called the greatest player ever. He's not in the top 5 and he's 9 out of 10. Definitely not in the greatest of all time conversation.

  8. Psssh he basically played with 2. Kyrie and AD were the only actual contributors, the rest were rotting husks of former good-great players
