The Knicks at a former first round pick. When you’re limited with cap space, every move you make becomes important, but also it leaves less room to make mistakes. That’s why I am so grateful that we have Leon Rose making the decisions. And recently, he made a very good decision. The Knicks have announced that they’re adding former first round pick Romeo Langford to their Westchester Knicks team. Let’s break down all of these latest reports today. Shout out to News and Tribune for giving us this following information. According to them, Romeo Langford’s NBA comeback attempt isn’t over yet. Earlier this month, the rights to the former New Albany High School star and Indiana University standout were traded from the Motor City Crews, the G-League affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, to the Westchester Knicks. the G-League affiliate of the New York Knicks. Here’s the exact quote that we have from the Westchester Knicks. According to them, Westchester Knicks have acquired the returning rights to Romeo Langford from the Motor City Crews in exchange for the returning rights of the 10th pick in the 2025 international GLeague draft, Heaggan Hasco. They continue here by stating, “After averaging 16.5 points per game for the Hooers as a freshman, Langford declared for the NBA draft. He was selected 14th overall by the Boston Celtics in the 2019 NBA draft. Langford spent two and a half seasons with the Celtics before being traded to the San Antonio Spurs, where he played one and a half seasons. In August of 2023, he signed an exhibit 10 contract with the Utah Jazz, but was waved less than two months later. The 6’5 shooting guard has averaged 4.6 points and 2.1 rebounds over 141 regular season games in the NBA. Now, it’s easy to see these reports and just dismiss them as unimportant. just the Knicks adding more talent to their Westchester Knicks team. But here’s why I have to push back against that. New York could have added anybody to their Westchester Knicks team. But what did Leon Rose and this Knicks front office choose to do? They chose to add a former 2019 first round pick, 14th overall pick from the Boston Celtics. They chose to add that player to their Westchester Knicks team. Why is it a shocking move by the Knicks? Well, we have to go back to how I opened this video. New York is limited with their cap space. That means all the players that they want to add in free agency, they can’t add them. They have to be very selective with who they choose to add to this team, whether it be the main roster, the bench, or their Westchester Knicks team. Not to mention that whoever they add to their Westchester Knicks team, potentially if they show out and do an amazing job, they could earn a regular NBA contract with the New York Knicks. And we have to also mention this. Just because you didn’t do what you needed to do as a rookie so many years ago does not mean you can’t have an NBA comeback, come back to the league and light it up. do things that you weren’t doing before and show NBA teams out there right now why they need to sign you, why they need to add you to their roster. And that’s the opportunity that Romeo Langford has right now with the Westchester Knicks. And New York, they have a history of doing this. They have a history of finding talent across the league. Talent that nobody wants anymore. potentially talent that may be former first round picks and they add them to the team. They add them to the Westchester Knicks roster. And the main reason they do that is to give them an opportunity and also to see how much they developed since they were drafted. And if they developed a lot and they’re doing a very good job, they’re going to be added to Westchester just to see what they can do. And I hope and pray at 25 years old, Romeo Langford has figured it all out and is ready to make an impact for Westchester because if he makes an impact there, he could potentially receive a call up to the main team. And that’s really the only way he’s going to be added to any NBA team, including the Knicks. He is too old for a rookie deal. He is too old for a two-way contract. There is no other way New York can add him to their team if they want to add him besides a standard NBA contract. And if they’re going to do that, if they’re going to give him a roster spot, best believe he is going to have to earn it. And he’s going to have every opportunity to do that with the Westchester Knicks. But the one thing that’s going for Romeo Langford, the one thing he was praised from coming out of high school was his scoring. his scoring ability, the way he can light it up, that’s why he was drafted. But unfortunately, when he came to the NBA level and he was going up against NBA level talent, that level of scoring that we saw never showed itself again. It seems like going up against NBA level talent took away all the things that made him special. But it doesn’t mean he’s not special. it doesn’t mean he hasn’t been working over these last few years to improve his game and improve his impact. And that is exactly what I’m waiting to see once the Westchester Knicks season starts. I want to see what Romeo Langford can do. I want to see how good he’s gotten over these last few years and I want to see his development. One thing that we know now more than any other year in the league, if you’re a player and you were drafted by a team and it didn’t go correctly and maybe you worked on your game overseas or somewhere around the world and then you’re trying to make an NBA comeback, we know for certain it’s possible to do that. How do we know that? Gerson Yabaseli. He was drafted in the NBA. Left, went overseas, did a very good job overseas, did such a good job, including in the Olympics, that he impressed a number of NBA teams. One of those teams being the Philadelphia 76ers, and the rest was history. Now he’s part of the New York Knicks bench and he has a very prominent role off the bench. Romeo Langford and all of these other former first round picks, they have to look at cases like Yabaselli and other cases around the league that show them it’s never over until it’s over. Your dream is to play at the NBA level. That’s what you want. That’s what you desire, then put the work in. Put that work in each and every day. And then when you’re given an opportunity, maximize it. Do the best that you can with that opportunity. And then you never know what happens. I am hoping for very good things for Romeo Langford. I think he deserves another chance in this league. He did not do what he needed to do during his first years in the league, but now returning back, committed and motivated to having a better impact this time around. That’s what I want to see. Never giving up, believing in yourself and thinking you can do anything as long as you put your mind to it. He’s going to have every opportunity to do that and showcase his abilities and skill set with the Westchester Knicks next season. And if he does a very good job, maybe his future could be with the NBA. But as of right now, the New York Knicks, the Westchester Knicks have given him an opportunity, and I really love to see that. But we have to also give credit here to Leon Rose and this Knicks front office. We are limited in all the moves we can make. We are limited in all the things that we can do. And even though that’s the case, the Knicks still find a way to make a shocking move in adding a former first round pick in Romeo Langford to their Westchester Knicks team. Nobody saw this move coming. Nobody expected this move. Nobody thought the Knicks would be looking across the league for former first round picks. But this is the reality. This is where we are, and I’m very excited and happy about it. If you can’t go out there and get the free agents that you want, add the talent that you want because you’re hardcapped at the second apron, then find another way. Find a different way to add more talent to this team. They added a former first round pick. Even though it was to their GLeague affiliate team, they still added a former first round pick for basically nothing. And this right here is the genius of Leon Rose. Making moves that nobody thought that they could make, that nobody expected. And that’s why we have a former first round pick on this team. It’s all about the moves you can make even when you’re down, out, and limited with cap space. and Leon Rose, this Knicks front office, they have found another way to add more talent to this team. And the best part about it all, it didn’t cost them anything. But what about you guys? What do you think about the Knicks adding a former first round pick in Romeo Langford to their Westchester Knicks team? Let me know how you feel about that in the comments section below, guys, because honestly, I would love to hear from you. But that’s going to do it for this episode. I hope you enjoyed it, and if you did, go ahead and smash that like button, leave a comment below, and of course, guys, please subscribe to the channel. Until next time, Nick fans, take care of yourself, your families, and each other. Peace and

  1. Bridges takes a slight discount from his max extension number ($156M) in order to help the Knicks have flexibility to continue building the roster and add pieces to the East championship contender.

  2. Title had me thinking he was added to the roster 😭 I was gonna say good no trash ass Ben Simmons.

As for Romeo, I've been watching the Celtics for years, I don't really remember him other than somebody with that name in garbage time so basically they added him but never really gave him a chance to grow which then killed his value & lead him to living on the bench so here he is trying to make a comeback, looks like he just never got a chance, I hate when playoff teams draft guys who never gives these guys a chance consistently like our young guys, Laker young guys other then Knect who ended up getting done dirty.

Just checked Google, he had injuries & never had consistent playing time so that ain't even on him, can't be great or even solid if you never get CONSISTENT playing time. Even if he does great, who the Knicks gonna take? They not gonna give a rookie(a person working on their craft) playing time, we got Mohammed, him, Kolek, Arial, Marshon & I'm forgetting someone, most of which will sit & collect dust even if someone makes the team, they'll be collecting dust on the roster too, the Knicks are tryna go to the finals, they won't let anybody develop & I think it's a huge mistake going back to last year, we need all 15 slots to be solid at the very least.

  3. I'm going to believe Mikal will bounce back & be the Phoenix Suns player we traded for last season. Thibs ran a horrible offense last season. Bridges played super when JB was injured & offense ran through him.
