But this trade would see the Atlanta Hawks receiving Trey Murphy III and a 2028 firstround draft pick and the New Orleans Pelicans receiving Zachary Reese, Kobe Buffkin and a 2026 firstround draft pick. So this trade’s pretty intriguing because this would see the former first overall draft pick and Resa uh going to New Orleans and Trey Murphy who has been talked about in some trade rumors this off season going to the Atlanta Hawks. So, the Hawks have actually done a lot of good things this off season in my personal opinion. Uh, they made the draft day trade of course with the Pelicans. So, that trade looks pretty good uh with their first round draft pick going to them next year. They got Christophs Porzingis and all of a sudden when this team is healthy like Jaylen Johnson’s coming back, players like Dyson Daniels, etc. taking another step, this team in Atlanta could be pretty good next year and sort of given the fact that the Eastern Conference in my opinion is pretty wide open. the Hawks should be like a darkhorse team to win the entire thing and make the NBA finals given the injuries that have occurred the last couple months or so. So, I think making a big-time swing here for Trey Murphy. Uh capitalizing on a player who is better in the present. Plus, you’re getting back another first round draft pick from the Pelicans, who in my personal opinion are not going to be very good next year and for the foreseeable future as well. So, if you’re able to get back some more draft capital from the Pelicans, I love this direction. Plus, they’re getting back the best player now in Trey Murphy. It’s sort of a win-win in my opinion uh from the Atlanta Hawks perspective if you ask me. So, I’m a big fan of this deal from the Hawks perspective. Now, from the Pelicans perspective, it’s not a terrible idea to get back some draft capital next year. Uh former first overall draft pick in Zachary Reese as well as Kobe Buffkin, but it really depends on how you view Zachary Reese. Now, I know when he was drafted, he was considered uh, you know, the best player in a weak draft, and maybe his ceiling is a little bit lower than some other first round draft picks later on, but maybe the Pelicans see something that that the Atlanta Hawks don’t. And if they want to bet on Reese Shade being a better player long term, plus getting back Kobe Buffkin and and a first round draft pick, you’re really taking a gamble on your scouting staff being correct and your developmental staff developing this guy into hopefully a superstar player. So yeah, the ceiling is a little bit higher, I would say, with Zachary Reese and what he can be, but it all depends on how you view him. So truthfully speaking, if I’m the Pelicans, I probably wouldn’t do this deal unless the first round draft pick was not going back Atlanta’s way or at the very least it’s heavily protected. Uh but Trey Murphy makes the Hawks better. And I think if I had to pick a winner of this deal, I’m going to go with the Atlanta Hawks. But as always, leave your thoughts.
