Orlando Magic All Access: Germany Tour Recap Presented by City National Bank

[Music] This week we’re on a Germany summer tour. We have tonight’s event. Tomorrow we have a telecom store appearance at the telecom location at Cudum. Following that, tomorrow afternoon we have hosting a hoops fest. So think about an outdoor festival really focused around basketball and celebrating basketball. And we’re doing that at Yan Sports Park. Then we leave and we go to Bon and we celebrate Telecom’s 30th anniversary with them in Bon. They’re doing an open air 3B3 tournament that we’re going to participate in and be a part of. Again, celebrating that basketball culture that’s happening here in Germany. Then we’re leaving there. We’re heading over to Munich. In Munich, we have another telecom store appearance at Marine Plots. We’re going to do a youth clinic at MTV. And then we’ll do another event similar to this in Munich. And then the following day we will be at the first annual Beats and Buckets event where Fron will be joining us. So we have a huge lineup of events happening in Germany. Really hoping to make an impact here with the Orlando Magic brand and fan base and continue to grow opportunities for us to befriend all of you in Germany. We’re very very excited to be here. [Music] Good evening everyone. Thank you so much for joining us tonight at the Panama Lounge. This space is beautiful and we’re so thankful that all of you could be here as part of the kickoff to our 2025 Orlando Magic Germany summer tour. Really wanted to take a moment and thank Marcus. Marcus has been a great partner uh to the Orlando Magic over the last 18 months or so of really helping us understand the German market and the fan base that the Orlando Magic can continue to build uh here in Germany. I got introduced to the Orlando Magic like you know I think 24 months ago. uh you know I talked to Michael Ford who is a friend of mine and uh to all his you know people and also to the ownership family to Ryan the force and you know I was so convinced about their approach and their uh desire to enter the market of Germany you have the free German players with the magic and you know that’s a great opportunity basketball is growing and you know in terms of the sport but also lifestyle and music and everybody loves it in that country and it’s the perfect match so I’m pretty sure we will be the number one in Germany with the magic pretty soon. We are here in Berlin and Germany and we’ve made a concerted effort to show up here pretty consistently over the last couple of years. Germany has one of the largest growing fan bases for the NBA. We’ve seen such popularity obviously with the Vagner brothers and the success in the FIFA World Cup is huge for us and for the players. And so we are so thankful that we have such a great basketball fandom here and we are excited to turn all those basketball fans into Orlando Magic fans. Orlando is a destination every German wants to go not only because of Disney and Universal also because of the Orlando Magic. It’s a very common thing for Germans to go to Orlando. The city itself is a great brand here. So the fit is perfect. [Music] Hi guys, you’re all being recorded on my my glasses. I’m recording you. I can see all of you. Wave. Today we’re here in Berlin and we are connecting with awesome fans of the Magic. It’s really cool to have some great conversations, uh, just build relationships here in Germany and, uh, spread the magic love around. How are you? You have my favorite. That’s my favorite look of the jersey. That’s That’s where um, I started watching and playing basketball. Yes. I was 10 years old. Yeah. And this is my first jersey. No way. Yes, sir. And please, would you sign it? I don’t want to ruin the jersey. Come on, man. Come on, dude. Yeah. It’s important for the magic to be here because it’s almost like an untapped market. It’s an an opportunity to come here and show that the game is growing and there is a desire to bring in more fans from this community, especially here in Berlin and Munich and Bon and the places we’re visiting. What’s your name? Sebastian. Sebastian. Nice to meet you, man. Ryan. It’s a coincidence. You know, I’ve been to one major against the Bulls. How did I do? Did I do all right? Probably like two points. Great to meet you now. No, it’s great to meet This is so crazy that you have this. Be great if you could sign it. Of course. Yeah, of course. Look at this. 15 years or so. It’s like perfectly preserved, too. And you brought it out of storage. That is amazing. And Dirk, man, Durk for me, I grew up model my game after him. I mean, yeah. I’m not the most athletic guy. I’m a tall guy that could shoot the ball. Yeah. And it was unique at the time. You know, whatever happens, you know, but I stay strong. Who wants to win? I want to win. Right. It’s a mentality, man. Exactly. Is so important. And that’s what I what I live also, you know, in my condition, you know, because you know, my life turns a little. That’s I said that I’m sitting now in a wheelchair. You can see the wheelchair is not the end, you know. Absolutely. and do the best of this, you know. I like it. It’s It’s really cool, though. You’re inspiring, man. You’re awesome. It’s a great opportunity to build connections and show that we care about fans. Like, we care about as an organization um about our fans globally. And we have great players on the roster with the Magic that I feel like could really impact these cities in in great ways and bring great fan bases around Germany out to Orlando. Love it, dude. Good talking to you, man. Absolutely. You know, it keeps in my mind though forever. [Music] We’re here in Berlin at Hoops Vest. We’re doing drills over here, vertical leap, shooting contest. It’s a little windy, but we’re having a great time. How many are we playing to? Five. Okay. Then you have four. I can’t let you score. Playing this champion. That’s game point. I’m not going to let him win. I was going to dunk on him. Should we end it on a three? There’s a lot of wind out here if you can’t tell. Good job, man. What’s your name? You’re good. You’re really good. The fans here have been incredible. It’s been a blast interacting with everybody here. It’s cool to see how much the game has expanded internationally and we’re just having a great time. Good job. I saw you out there. Let’s go. Good job. Good job. Good job. Good job. Nice. Nice. [Music] You’re welcome. Nice to meet you, man. Oh, that’s my stuff. No. No. That’s so cool. It’s an honor to be around these kids, especially the young little kids, and to have them love basketball. any fans of the NBA in Germany is it’s just so cool to to see and express that that love with them. All right, let’s get some ball handling work in. You got some handles. You got some handles. Nice. You’re fat. I like it. How you doing? I love that jersey, man. That’s a great jersey. You having fun? Good. Good. Yeah, of course. Oh, thank you. Appreciate that. Thanks. It’s been an awesome event here today at Hoopsfest. I’m sure we’re going to do it again here. Had the best time. I just want to thank all the kids, all the families for coming out here. It’s been a blast today. [Music] [Music] Thank you all for having us. We are so thankful that Telecom is our first Germanbased company partnership uh for the Orlando Magic and we’re the first NBA partnership for Telecom. We’re excited to grow our brand here alongside Telecom and hopefully help Telecom grow those NBA fans into telecom fans. We just started to expand our activities into international markets also to expand our basketball business here in Germany as we are having much engaged in different areas in the basketball and our story is really about telecom home of basketball and therefore it was actually needed to have an international partnership and that’s when you know it came to Orlando Magic working with the Magic because for us it’s one of the most German teams you know having this three players with Tristan Mo and France and Of course, also like Orlando, which is a beautiful destination for the Germans. Yeah. So, it’s a perfect fit, I would say. Who’s having a good time with me? This is an incredible event again. I’m having a blast. I love Germany. I’ve never been here before. Uh we were in Berlin. We spent some time here in Bong. It is absolutely beautiful here. Walked along the river. Had some great meals. Um loving it. I need to spend more time. We’re in and out. We’re moving. We’re We’re shaking, but we’re having a great time here. It’s been a blast. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] We’re about to do a three-point contest. Let’s go. [Applause] Anderson, you only got 60 seconds. Oh, we got to shoot him fast. 40 seconds. Are you ready? Ready. Are you ready? [Applause] Come on, man. [Applause] I got this. I got to be honest, bro. Nice leg and with [Applause] so my partner very enthusiastic We had a great time. Unfortunately, we lost because the kid with the hottest hand in Germany had to make all the shots at the last rack. We almost had it, but it was a blast today. We had a great time with the excitement we’ve seen today around the 30th anniversary. Telecom is such a strong company here in Germany with so much support, a huge fan base, and great sports partnerships across the country. And so we knew that Telecom was the right partner for the Orlando Magic to make a splash here in Germany and really grow the German fan base and the Orlando Magic fan base. Thank you for welcoming us. It’s been a such a wonderful trip and we’re excited. We will be back many times. So, thank you all for having us. [Music] This is day two of the telecom store appearances. See you there. Are you guys from here? We are from Brema from the north. Oh, great. So, we are visiting France and we hear that you are here. Awesome. So, we say we have to come to meet. You guys are great. Thank you. How you doing? What’s your name? Lee. Nice to meet you. I’m Ryan. Nice to meet you guys. Pleasure. Oh, what? Where did he come from? You guys want to take a picture? And then probably a picture with stuff, too. Yeah. Great to meet you guys. Thank you for coming. Awesome. Nice to meet you, man. You love it. You love playing. Do you practice a lot? That’s what it’s about. Four times a week. Yeah. Keep working hard. We’ll see you in the WNBA. What’s going on? Good to see you. I’m sprinting. Yes, I know. You’re fast. You are fast. I wasn’t happy like this for a long long time. Oh, come on, man. Bring it in. That’s awesome. We have a hard time at the moment and you make us all day. The last time I was this happy when I was when I married this this woman. Oh, man. That’s a very nice thing. That’s sweet of you guys. Give us an incredible moment. I’m so happy. I’m so you make me happy. Thank you so so much. No, come on. We came here to just meet you and then you made give us an incredible moment and an incredible weekend. All right. So, we’re here in Munich. I’m about to surprise this camp right here. Bunch of kids. It’s going to be a blast. Munich is great. Here we go. They don’t know. [Music] Hey guys, how you guys doing? You guys having fun? You’re working hard? Yeah, you guys are pretty tall. Yeah, let’s have some fun today. Let’s play some basketball. Good job, you guys. Stay low. Stay low. Shot fake. Jump stop and shot fake and he’ll jump right by you. Good job, man. Good shot. Good move. So, do you travel around and train like multiple groups these kids? Like their ball handling skills are crazy good. This is all you and your program. Yeah, most of them. Yeah. Seriously, they have really great coaches. Polo is a great coach for kids, you know. He’s young young coach, but he’s really like has good ideas. I mean, he’s a good coach. Yeah. So, this is really like you know how it is when you have a good coach. I’m I’m a coach at the camp today. I’m normally playing for a team in in Germany, but I wanted to see how um a a life of a trainer feels like. That’s why I’m here. It was great. It was I saw a a lot of different faces and different kinds of players. But it was very interesting for me to see at which level at which age you’re playing and how game is. When you’re dribbling, always stay low. have your if you’re standing up, your defender can steal the ball easy. If you’re in a stance like this, you can be guarded, you can transfer, you can It’s all about shifting your movement and your speed. She should be over there, right? Oh, I’m sorry. Did it happen playing basketball? Oh, yeah. Do you have a brother or sister that’s out there, too, or? Yeah. No, brother is in another team. Oh, but you She’s watching. She is here. Yeah, she’s here in this team. Yeah. So, you’re watching? That’s so awesome. That’s great. Nice shot. Good shot. [Applause] And why did you want to come to this camp specifically? Um cuz it was from Orlando and it was special than the other camps. Very cool. And we are I’m going here because I will practice my skills and mechanics. It’s very cool. It’s it’s unbelievable. Germany is developing. It’s it’s getting in the right direction. Like all the guys going to college now from Germany. And also these kids, they are very talented, very very good kids. If if they train more and put everything into it, there’s no limit for them. Youth clinic Munich done. Kids had a great time. Played a little one-on-one shooting competition and I actually won one this time. So pretty happy. Thank you so much for joining us tonight at the business of basketball event here in Munich. We learned quickly today when we drove into the city why everyone who lives in Munich loves it so much. Obviously, part of the Orlando Magic growing in Germany has a lot to do with the popularity of Fron and Mo as well as Tristan Dilva which I know this community knows extremely well. And having those German players on our team has really pushed us to have the opportunity to grow business and opportunities and fan base across Germany. It’s uh like something is coming together Orlando and Munich. And I mean that’s what happens in our life since a year and it just is a perfect fit. The Orlando Magic is a real family. And this is not only because we have the two Vagnner brothers which made it easier for Tristan. Of course, it is because we have Jeff and Mo and all these people taking good care of us when we are there and always seem to take good care of Tristan as well. So, it fits very well. I think with every big organization or business, it’s what what ends up making it special is the people. I’ve been there 4 years now. You know, everybody I’ve met has been nothing but super supportive and, you know, all in on the magic and and what we’re doing. It truly takes, you know, everybody to run an organization like that. And uh I think we got a special group in Orlando. I think we need to do a little uh traditional Bavarian experience with Ryan and France. What do you say? Wish me luck everyone. Okay, this one. Okay, this is for you. Fron straight. It’s super surreal. I mean, growing up here, the NBA can seem super far away and uh you know, making it as one of those young kids that Ryan talked about, like it’s Yeah, it seems super far away and sometimes doesn’t seem possible. I think there’s a great opportunity for the magic and I’m super excited for the future of German basketball because these these things can you know they they mean so much talking to someone like Ryan as a little kid that that would have meant the world to me. So I think this it’s super cool. [Music] So, we’re at Beats and Buckets today, which is pretty much the first event in Germany that connects basketball to like kind of the hip-hop culture. It’s a four on four tournament here in Munich. Each team has one artist on the team uh that has the connection to basketball as well. It’s been great. One of my best friends is organizing everything, so I was a little nervous coming here, but I think it’s turned out great. Good job. Good job. So, it’s a unique event and uh I think you know it’s pretty it’s pretty special because we we haven’t had this in Germany. Let me warm up or something a little bit. All right. [Applause] Come on, Ryan. There you go. Get hot now. Okay. [Applause] Okay. I think we just got so much untapped potential. There’s so many kids that, like you said, they they don’t even really know about basketball. They just think about uh soccer or football, how we say. In the last couple years, I think a lot has happened. Obviously, they being successful with the national team really help prove the popularity here a lot. Uh winning the World Cup helped a lot. I think if we continue to just have more volume and talent and and do more stuff in like the grassroots area and also do events like this that you know show how much is connected to basketball that it’s not just a game. I think that’ll help a bunch honestly surreal. you know, there’s all these kids here that have magic stuff on or, you know, want a picture and all that stuff. And, uh, you know, I vainly remember being one of those kids. Um, know when I was young. So, that that part is really cool and I take that part really serious. Beautiful. Love the people, love the Germany trip has come to an end. Incredible time interacting with the fans here and the kids and the clinics we’ve done. It’s been a great time. We’ll see you next time.
