People often forget, AD would get injured tripping over a pebble. We got tired of seein him limping around seemingly every 10 games and seemingly every year, we had to get rid of an often injured star player
If Dallas can make a finals run or get a Championship with AD on roster then all is redeemed for the Mavericks franchise and Nico. Lakers win with LukA regardless, he has MJ type impact for sales and identity.

If AD was the same age as Luka you definitely don't do that trade – superstar big men are much harder to come by than superstar guards and small forwards. Luka is obviously great but he's also pretty overrated – he plays hero ball more than he plays team ball.

Honestly, the trade is insignificant. We are not good enough to be better than a play in or first round exit team and that’s not gonna change for a very long time.
You got the favorite for the MVP of the league in exchange for MR. Glass, AKA Street Clothes + a player who's ceiling is a role player with limited minutes and a draft pick. What's not to like. Just a couple of years ago we were talking about building a team around this guy who can't stay on the floor or will be retired. It was madness and then the Mavs stepped up and saved us. Let's all give a great big cheer to the Mavs. HIP HIP HOORAY!!!

Hated to see AD go, but the trade is probably beneficial for him and Luka in the end. AD doesn't have to bang with 5s all season now and has more help around him; Luka can be a better version of himself now that he knows the older version wasn't quite cutting it…

Let's be clear Luka is not a top 5 player. Did you not see what AE did to him? What' good is it to score 30 points if the player your guarding score 40? AD was awesome on both ends of the floor. The only reason you make this trade is the age difference.
