Why Gilbert Arenas LOVES Yang Hansen’s Game

Why Gilbert Arenas LOVES Yang Hansen’s Game

what you’re seeing from Yang Hansen so far. Sean, you were watching those clips. I think you’re very impressed with his ability on the floor. He can play. You can just see it when you know a player, you know, is feel for the game. He don’t got to be athletic. You can see he’s one of those players like Joker where um he’s got a great feel for this very savvy. That last play where he screamed for the the point guard going through the lane. It’s a lot of stuff that I learned in college that Ray used to do with Shawn and use the bigs and all that kind of stuff that’s just easy ways to get your teammate open. So, it shows he’s unselfish. He loves to pass the ball. He can score in the post. He was sealing. You know, it’s hard to even see a big man right now in the NBA that actually wants to seal and and get position. So, for him to have that in him, uh, it’s going to be huge. And it shows the Chinese how they train their guys. They they haven’t found a guard to come over here that can do what the big man have done, but once they do, it’s going to be something scary. Um, Jeremy Lynn, I don’t think he was like from like over there training with them. But yeah, I think one of like they got a certain type of work ethic over there where guys like him, Yeao, they stand out because they took it very seriously. They stayed in the gym. And then he got the translator like from me being over there. He one of them translators is telling him, “Shut up. Cut the lights off. Cut that PS off. Come come come downstairs and eat your [ __ ] rice.” That type [ __ ] Like he control other. Oh no. Just rice. Rice tonight. Rice and noodles. Rice tonight. No, but he got skills. Let me see you playing at PS. I’m looking forward to seeing him develop for sure. Yeah, most definitely. So, let’s move over to you, Kenyon. uh after getting to check out a little bit of Young Hansen out there summer league. I know it’s just summer league. 7 foot or 20 years old though. Yeah. No, you like what you see. Um yeah, to to Rashad’s point, it’s just little things you you look for when you’re watching young players. Um feel for the game, attention to detail. Um yeah, he’s only going to get better from here. Uh once he learns the NBA game, uh once it slows down for him. Yeah. Yeah. So, like what I see, willing passer, so you can get to play through him. Um, yeah. So, no, I like what I see. It’s not always built on athleticism. Um, so yeah. No, he he’s working. He’s using his tools at the best to the best of his ability and he’s only going to get better at it. So, I like what I see. Let’s move over this side of the couch. Mr. B, I see you in the lifeguard there with the whistle watching some young Hansen highlights. Yeah. Like what you’re seeing so far? Yeah, just the feel of the game. Um, I mean, it’s a reason why I see uh why Rich Paul went and got him. Um, yes. Um, but no, I just feel and you know, summer league is another step to training camp and to, you know, and into the preseason to everything like that. So, every step counts when you get to the NBA, so, you know, he’s doing his thing. How about you, Swaggy? Yeah, I like him. Um, at first I thought Portland was tripping. Just doing some Portland [ __ ] but as you see him out there, um, yeah, he looks like he under control, got a good eye, but them guys, they China, they bring players out there to come do training camps and stuff. They’re looking to get better. So, it’s only right that, you know, um, the time is coming. you know, they had a little drought, but since like the Yei days and Yao Yei after that, you know, they had what? Sun Yu. So Mhm. It’s good to see that. Wang Xi was the first Wing Gi. Mhm. I know who what year was that? He came in. He was on my team. He played for Dallas first. 7 foot left-handed. He was before. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He was he was the best. Come in. Real came like 2002 two three. Yeah. Wayne was Dallas. So it was great from friends. No. Wayne. You said he was the best. Michael Finley. Not better than Ya. No. I mean not better than he said the best. No. He said he was the best. He wasn’t like he was the first. He said he was the best. No. Wait wait wait wait. Y was the best. So y’all was ya 2002. First of all when did Wayne GG come in before? First. Oh. So his problem was they because he he played in the milit he he was on a military base meaning he couldn’t stay in America like that. So because he wanted to stay here trained and do his thing they was basically calling him awall if he never went back home. Yeah. Hell yeah. He was drafted 1999. Yeah. So he was right. But he was uh he was like he was he he’s like this era’s like big man that he like goons big shoot the three like he was he was he was a fiveman shooting the three off a while ago him a while ago I was like damn that was Don Nelson team everybody had three the three ball on he was with me in summer we play with play on that uh two was that NBA live NBA live NBA live 99 [ __ ] in Dallas what’s up dream cab yeah I do this [ __ ] all day. It was a better time. Dream C. That’s Dream C. Yeah. But Gil, last but not least, looking at what Yang’s doing out there on the court. I know it’s just NBA summer league, but been very impressive so far. Obviously, the Blazers taking him 16th with a surprise to a lot of them, but like Mr. B said, Rich Paul out there working the phones, making things happen. So, what do you think about Young so far? You impressed by what you see? Um, you know, you know, these are the type of guys that, um, when they get into the game, you can see all their attributes. um in the past, you know, draft working out, you missed this, right? So, I don’t know how they miss Joic, but I know um when you talk about a guy like this, you don’t want him to go in the second round and you know, someone gets him and then boom, he turns into a superstar. But, you know what he does, you can tell that he’s a five on five player, right? It looks like he has one-on-one skills. He can playmate, he can shoot, right? So, you know, the lane you put him in is, you know, the Jokic Senon type of lane. And, you know, with those guys, you always want to take him in the first round, right? Because they can do a little bit of everything, right? You know, you can tell he has a very high IQ and, you know, that is, you know, top 15, top 20, 20 years old, 7 foot. You know, you can put him at any position and he will be um effective on that court. Even if he’s not the main go-to guy, you got two centers now, right? You can put him at the four and, you know, throw the ball to him and let him just sit there and look over the defense, make these back door cuts if you know, um, and treat him like a Vlad devos, you know, or you can say, “Oh, you can be a Chris Weber.” You know what I mean? So, his ceiling is so high that, you know, it’s it’s whatever he makes is, you know, he’s underpaid for sure. So, Yao Ming, last Chinese player to be an all-star. That was back in 2011. Not saying Yang is headed that way, but just be in the the decade thing. He’d be top 15, top 20. Same where his ass is right now. We didn’t think about him. He was in the my honorable mention. No, no, no. I mean, he was in my honorable mention. No, what I’m saying is it’s not like y’all was just injuries like when we’re talking about decades, man. It is 10 years, right? So, you know, when you’re talking about he was this dominant for three years, you have to be so dominant to to outlast somebody’s 10 year resume. Yao was great, but he got hurt. And being injured, you know, you know, six, seven years, it kind of hurts your, you know, same thing with T-Mac, right? If T-Mac stayed healthy, of course, he’s, you know, competing for one, two, and three, but he didn’t, right? Same thing with Yao. If Yao was, you know, healthy the whole time, then yeah, you’re talking about one, two, three, four. He’s, you know, arguing, but he got hurt. They both got hurt. So, it’s like, you know, we can only go off of you played great three years. You know, three years of greatness, seven years of me, you know, me, I had three goods. You know, my first two years, eh, three great years. last three years. What the [ __ ] Can’t do nothing about it. So, like I mentioned, y’all last Chinese All-Star 2011. Uh, how important is it for the league? He made the All-Star win in 2011. He was in the NBA still 2011. Y mean the All-Star game? Yeah. You’re all 2011, man. Y was on Houston. Wait, I played Y mean was in the NBA? Hold on. Wait. Y’all my rookie year? Yes. You know, remember that? I’m about Okay. Oh, yeah. That’s when he made it when he was hurt. Yeah. I was about to say like I’m about I was going to say voted in. Yeah. I was going to say I didn’t know. Did he play in the game? He don’t play the game. Oh, okay. But that brings me to my next point. He was in the NBA though, but he was the actual game. Okay. I was in halfway. You know, I didn’t. But that was before that. He was in jail. I was damn near in jail. I didn’t do it. 2010 2019. H listen, last time I seen a [ __ ] healthy man was when he got drafted, brother. All right, you can’t talk. But brings my next question. How important is it for the league to have a Chinese star? We saw the impact that y’all had when it came to the league. There’s been a lot of talk about viewership decline. We know China has a very basketball. um because of and this is just you know reports that I’ve looked at 60% of uh China watches basketball. Yep. Right. Um they have more registered basketball players than we have people in the United States of America. So actually it’s two times that. Right. It’s two times. So they got more registered people who want to play basketball than we have people here. And you know there is a handicap on the Asian um voting system um that they don’t allow all their votes because obviously if they allow all their votes then you know we know who’s going to be number one the whole time. Um but yeah they have more you know people that you know um like basketball than we have people living here. So basketball is very big there. So, it is important to just viewership, money, and everything that has to do with our our sport here. If um they have an Asian player, it’s the biggest market for basketball. You guys agree on this side of the Philippines? Yeah. Yeah. What was the So, how important is it for the league to be able to have a Chinese star potentially? It’s been a while. 2011, Yao Ming, last Chinese NBA All-Star. Talking about 14 years now. Not to say the young. We’ll get there. But looked impressive so far in his brief summer league action. Yeah. I mean, I don’t think it hurts. I don’t think it hurts unless it gets political. H Unless it gets political. Yeah. Um 2011 is a long time. So, I don’t know if it’s a necessity, but if it’s viewership, for sure. Yeah. You know, you talk about somebody like, “Yeah, five games still getting voted by obviously fan vote isn’t worth as much now as it was then.” But does that affect other people making it? Was that a good thing or was that a bad thing? You know what I’m saying? So, going to go to sleep. It’s one of those things. Hey, you know, somebody said I need a cigar. I had one. Got it right here. This is uh you know, Kelsey Plum. You know, Sparks. This is her cigar line. She’s not wait.

  1. If the Chinese dude blows up then China will be watching Portland like crazy. Dame should have stayed. Cause t Mac made soooooo much money from playing with Yao Ming.

  2. You can tell if someone went to school get a college degree when they talk. These guys obviously haven't just the way you guys analyse and the word choices you use.

  3. And now the NBA has incredible incentive to get Blazers in the playoffs..
yall are about to see allot of calls going Portlands way 😜

  4. Keep in mind China’s population is about 1.4 billion. The marketing opportunities if he makes it and becomes well known is huge.

  5. CChinese basketball fan here. Wang Zhizhi was the first phenomenon basketball player in China. Young Yao's goal was to reach Wang's Level, and the fact is that Yao had never beaten Wang in the CBA. Yao got his first and only CBA Championship after Wang Zhizhi went to the NBA. At the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, 18-year-old Wang blocked Grant Hill's dunk and David Robinson's shot. Wang Zhizhi was a true pioneer.

  6. Jeremy Lin played in Cali and was overlooked lol Asians Americans typically don’t go back to Asia just like African Americans don’t play with African players like Hakeem lol

  7. There’s going to be more Blazers fans in China than Portland now.😂😂 Wait until the new owner moves the team to Las Vegas, it’s going to be wild.

  8. Sounds like they were paid to talk positively about him. Their words doesn't match the enthusiasm level lol

  9. How tf is Jeremy Lin name got in the topic lol….Dude is from california America raised and born!!!!! Imagine every black guy being compared to be Jordan or every white guy to Luka.

  10. I didn't like the story. But ya, the music is gooooood. At least 3 bangers in the album. It's both the girl and boy bands too, John

  11. As a Knicks fan I remember Chinese player Menk Bateer back the days. Big lumbering center played a few minutes off the bench for ny. China been sending bigs for decades and no guards. Their wings don’t work out either Sun Yue, Fan Bo Zhang. I see big big 7ft 3 Harold Yu played highschool ball here and now back in China.

  12. Am I the only one who can’t stand Nick Young’s voice? Sounds like a croaking frog who just smoked an ounce of weed.

  13. It's funny how you find one person overseas. That's good and in the conversation is they're training their people right? Maybe he just an anomaly every once in awhile. Somebody is good out there 😂😂
