Golden State Warriors TRADE Jonathan Kuminga To The Boston Celtics? | NBA Trade Rumors
So, could the Golden State Warriors be trading away Jonathan Kaminga to the Boston Celtics this 2025 NBA off season? Well, here on the screen is a trade proposal or a trade idea from fadeawayorld.net. The link to this article is down below in case you want to go ahead and check it out for yourself, but this trade would see the Boston Celtics receiving Jonathan Kaminga and the Golden State Warriors receiving Derek White and a 2031 first round draft pick. So, my initial thoughts after seeing this deal is that why on earth would the Golden or sorry, why on earth would the Boston Celtics make this trade? Derrick White is a very valuable player uh to this Celtics team. He’s on a pretty, you know, I would say reasonable contract. Uh defensively speaking, he’s one of the best in the entire NBA. And if you’re giving that up plus a future first round draft pick that is six years down the road, that is just way too risky for my liking in my opinion uh from the Celtics perspective. Now, I understand the Celtics and maybe wanting to shed some cap this off seasonason. They did so of course in the Drew Holiday as well as the Kristoffs Porzingis moves. And with Tatum being injured this upcoming season, the Celtics likely aren’t going to be championship contenders. Maybe Tatum comes back in the playoffs and changes things a little bit, but as of right now, they’re still going to be pretty good. Uh, but this doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. They would be getting worse. Now, you can maybe make the argument that Jonathan Kaminga has a little bit more upside, especially offensively speaking, and he is quite a bit younger as well. So perhaps he could come to Boston and and boss him into a superstar with this development staff with this front office. Uh they could actually be in a pretty good spot that way and this could be a good spot for Jonathan Kaminga uh for the foreseeable future. But what Kaminga is looking for in a trade destination is to be more of a focal point of the offense. And with Tatum still on this roster, with Brown still on this roster, at the very least he’s going to be the third man offensively speaking for the foreseeable future. So I don’t get this trade whatsoever. you’re going to have to resign Kaminga to a pretty decent contract extension as well. And this is pretty similar to where he kind of stands right now in Golden State. So, I don’t get this whatsoever from the or from the Celtics perspective. Now, from the Warriors perspective, I love this deal. Like, if they’re able to get back Derrick White and a 2031 first round draft pick for Jonathan Kaminga, this would be an amazing move for the Warriors. The Warriors, of course, are a bit of an older team. Uh but if they’re able to add some more defense to their back court and just, you know, add a future first round draft pick, you know, six years down the road as well, they can compete for a championship now and then potentially, you know, utilize that draft pick moving forward as a trade chip or if the Celtics are not very good or trending in that direction, they can keep that and get a good pick down the road. So, I think Derrick White is a much better player than Kaminga. As I mentioned before, the only downside, I guess, would be he’s a little bit older, but truthfully speaking, without a doubt, to me, uh, this is a slam dunk move for the Warriors to make. So, by default, I think they win this deal. But, as always, leave your thoughts.
