The Los Angeles Clippers Are Confusing…

I have strong feelings about this Los Angeles Clipper team. You’ve seen in the last few weeks, the Clippers have made some major changes that will drastically affect their future. For starters, they landed John Collins in a three-way deal that included the Miami Heats and the Utah Jazz. Great, great pickup. They suffered in the past from some of those force Nola Spatum last season, particularly defensively. [Music] And now they have a more than reliable power forward who’s athletic, can play defense as well as catch lobs. And shortly after the straight, they picked up the 32-year-old Bradley Beal after his buyout from the Phoenix Suns on a 2-year, $11 million deal. And now they’ve brought back 40-year-old Los Angeles Clipper legend and point guard Chris Paul. And the Clippers signed him on a one-year, $3.6 million deal. Okay, so now that we’ve gone over all of that, the expected Clipper starting and bench lineup is almost certainly going to look like this. Point guard James Harden, shooting guard Bradley Beal, small forward Kawhi Leonard at the power forward position, John Collins, and at center obviously Ivak Kazuba. Now at the bench, we’re going to have Chris Paul at point guard, Chris Dunn at shooting guard, BM Bdonovich at small forward, and at power forward, we’re going to be looking at Derek Jones Jr. and at the center position, the new pickup of Brooke Lopez. If this team stays healthy. Wait, wait, hold up. We have been using whatifs for this team since the original Paul George trade back in 2019. And it didn’t do Clippers fans any favors back in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, or last season 2025. So, what makes the Clippers front office so certain that the addition of Bradley Beal, who’s coming off of the worst two seasons of his professional career, and a 40-year-old Chris Paul, who wasn’t even able to stay healthy when he was young, will managed to help in this year’s playoffs. Are we seriously banking this entire season on another whatif? Aren’t you guys sick of this by now? Is it not exhausting year after year after year having to explain to others that no, this will be our year if Kawhi Leonard stays healthy and if James Harden plays well in clutch time and if Bradley Beal turns his career around and if Chris Paul manages to turn back the hands of time itself. You see, as someone of the Miami Heat fandom, I can tell you a little bit about ifs and buts. They never do work out in your favor. The teams that end up winning the championships and going on these deep playoff runs don’t navigate around ifs and buts. They work around production and results. And so far, you guys haven’t seen anything like this out of your star players. OKC didn’t have any ifs and buts about them. And the one that they did have, ironically, had nothing to do with their play on the court. It was all just narratives about them being too young, not about them being lazy on defense or not shooting the ball well. And if the Clippers are going to have a good season, I’m not going to believe it until I see it for myself because I’m sick and tired of the excuses with this sorry organization. Enough is enough. Clippers fans are tired and disappearing day by day. And I’ve got to say, I don’t blame them. I don’t blame them at all. I blame the organization. I blame the front office. And most importantly, I blame you, Kawhi Leonard. You’ve got all the help in the world. It’s about time we see some results. Also, feel free to check out my newsletter, Roby Report.
