The Kuminga Catch-22.

The Kuminga Catch-22.

Jonathan Kaminga is now in like the most toxic situationship ever with the Warriors. And yet, unlike my dating life, neither side can ghost the other. So, to catch you up to speed on the stalemate here, Kaminga wants like 3 years 82 million. The Warriors best offer is 2 years 45. No one else has any cap space, so they have to figure out a signing trade. The two teams that are interested are the Suns and Kings. But the Suns don’t really have anything to give up, so the Warriors have rejected their trade offer. And yeah, I don’t really blame him. Meanwhile, Kaminga himself has said he wants to be a king, but the Warriors are asking for a good player and an unprotected first, which is what makes this all so dumb because the Warriors are treating Kaminga like he’s a top asset until it comes time to pay him. And obviously, all this comes down to is whether or not you think restricted free agency is a good thing. Because on one side, it helps small market teams, it also kind of makes guys stuck. And look, I’m not the biggest Kaminga guy, so I don’t even really blame the Warriors here.

  1. I wouldn’t pay him that much either what? They are bluffing on his value to get a higher return than what he is worth that’s the art of negotiation

  2. Even if you don't like him you have to agree that the warriors have just not been using him at all. They've given him no light to really shine so I get why he wants to leave

  3. i dont think its the warriors not wanting him. he doesnt play a role they want him too yet thats his job. if he isnt doing his job why would they pay him? they know he is a great player which is why they are asking for a good return. yet its more jonathan kuminga who doesnt want to return.

  4. If sucks cause everyone knows the warriors want JK gone and JK wants to be gone so no team will offer much. Just like the KD trade. If only phoenix offered Dylan brooks or the kings offered Keagon Murray then JK would already bin gone

  5. Rwally don’t know why they are doing this when they can just cut him from the team and leave it be instead of resigning or trading espeiclaly when they treated him like shit in the first place bro like tf? Move on

  6. Ik this is a hot take, but lowkey, we gotta get rid of him and get a guy that can do more than just drive head first to the rim, like ik he has potential and all but, if he’s already demanding that kinda respect I don’t think he’s worth it

  7. You should blame the Warriors. Their bungling years ago set the stage for this absurd situation. SMH

  8. The only way he comes back to the Warriors is if Kerr is fired. Other than that he wants to leave and they should allow that as they had the prior off-season where his trade value was high to trade him if he wasn't staying and they blew it by basically shortening his minutes and trade value. He will still get his money regardless as many teams want him

  9. I still would LOVE Kuminga as a Nugget. Warriors don't know what to do with him, treats him like garbage, but wants a 4 leaf clover for him and has him as a RESTRICTED free agent. it's like you have him on a leash and wasting his time, let him go where he wants to go.

  10. I don’t blame the warriors for asking what they are from the kings. If Kuminga is worth the money he’s asking for then teams would have no issue signing away the 1st and the player they’ve asked for… problem is Kuminga has the upside to be worth that, but has yet to demonstrate he’s already worth that much. Other teams want the high upside but want to chip in less cause they see the same risk the warriors do… Kuminga has put himself in this position. There’s no reason Moody starts before Kuminga other than Moody is content with his role and is developing in his role, while Kuminga refuses to address his defensive concerns and some of his decision making. He’s an incredibly talented shot creator and strong wing

  11. The Warriors feel like they’re still trying to animate a team that’s run it’s course. I’m not saying Curry’s the problem, but just about everything else around him and the coaching staff has sufficiently fallen apart and I just don’t see Curry ever having the roster needed to help him succeed. Even with Jimmy, who himself is in the latter half of his career, the supporting cast is kinda pathetic. Draymond’s barely still elite defensively and is a walking liability, their big man depth and talent is pathetic. Starters like Hield and Podz just aren’t consistent enough offensively or good defensively to really earn their starting job, and they’ve got pretty awful depth.

It just feels like after a full decade of success their poor draft picks, age and regression of their stars and inability to really make any blockbuster moves has finally caught up with the team and they’ve basically got two options. Trade the last great players on their team for young talent and draft picks and properly begin a new era, or slowly get worse each passing season until Curry retires, and then suck and pray the lotto saves the team. I really feel like with the team as it is and all the staples of their championship years like Durant, Klay, eventually Draymond and even young talent like Warriors Poole being gone, the Curry championship era is over.

  12. That is literally the point .😂 Kuminga id being offered less pf his true value to try and get a good deal on him, while making third parties pay more or equal to his value to make the deal worth their while. That’s just good business. 😅

  13. Warriors: pay you? You’re trash. Trade you? Ok, we want 5 first round picks for a top tier player.
