Nobody Says THIS About The Houston Rockets…

Dom, to your question, the Rockets aren’t getting another ball handler. Um, I saw I mean, recently Ben Dubos put it on the Rockets wire. The Rockets are going to lean heavy. We’ve been talking about on the show. I mean, the men’s really going to get a lot more on ball touches this year. You’re obviously going to see that from Ree Shepard and Fred Van Fleet. We already know. So, they don’t really need another ball handler unless someone goes down and, you know, you don’t, you know, bank on those things to happen. But, yeah, they’re not going to get another ball handler. What the roster you see now is what before the season starts. Yeah, I’ll put it like that. But yeah, at the deadline, I keep saying it, I don’t think Capella’s finishing that contract here. Um like like I honestly I’d be surprised if he made it past year two. I I think that if something does come up where it’s like you need to go get somebody else. He’s making like what, seven, eight mil? Yeah. Something like that. And so like I think that’s the first salary they go to use to bring in because you don’t you obviously don’t want to trade any of your young guys. You don’t want to trade Fred. You don’t want to trade KD. Um, you know, I’m going to say DFS is probably on the safer side, but who knows what happens with him. But in terms of guys, so you’d be comfortable making, you don’t want to trade Stephen Adams, for example. Yeah, he’s the most expendable. Yeah, Capella is the guy who’s probably the most expendable. He’s making a contract that’s pretty ready to be traded. Um, so I I think that if they decide they want to get another ball handler, I bet you it’s going to be Capella salary. This would be a good question to, you know, tailor into. Do we feel like the lack of ball handling from the Rockets, you know, as the season goes, um, will affect the season? You know, with KD’s handle declining. Does anyone want to comment on that? Uh, I I think that it depends on what you mean by I don’t think it’ll affect them across an 82 game season. I think when you get into a 16 win season in the playoffs, that might be when the questions start to arise in regards to um is there enough perimeter creation, when teams are looking at the scouting report and saying, “All right, half court, let’s just focus on Katie and make sure he’s out make sure he’s out of the equation like teams have done in the past when he was with Phoenix, when he was with Brooklyn.” Um I think that’s when the questions could arise. I don’t think it’ll affect him in the regular season at all. But you’re really banking on on two guys. You’re banking on a men taking the leaps that you think his work ethic and talent warrant and you’re banking on Reed Shepard being an NBA player this season. I think he is going to be the biggest swing for the Rockets this year is if Reed Shepard is able to genuinely command 20 minutes a night and be productive in those minutes. I think it’s a completely
