teams of consequence that magnify things or for teams lower down. Maybe the season drags on at the end. And now the opening lineup for Chicago. Kobe White out there with Trey Jones. Then there’s Kevin Herder. Then there’s Nicoluche. And it’s Phillips in at the four. Back to White. The Warriors pull it in. They put up a nice win against Sacramento last time out. And it wasn’t just their starters putting in work. Their backups were real spark plugs on offense. Yeah, I saw the box score of that game the next day and I thought, “Wow, that’s a huge scoring night.” Pretty impressive stuff there. Earlier, Ally Lefor spoke with head coach Steve Kerr. What’d you find out, Ally? And one of their main defensive focuses, Nola Busousvich. Coach telling me that B has the big body plus he can really shoot it. But they really emphasized boxing him out. Nola is great at converting misses into second chance points. Boxing out. It’s back to the basics, guys. Great work, Ally. Thanks. Probably should have scored there. He usually does. He’ll passes to Green. Veovich with some nice D. It’s one thing to prevent the layup. It’s another to do it without fouling. Just terrific defense. Pass to Phillips. Outside White. Six on the shot clock. takes a three and once again off the mark by Chicago still looking to get their offense in gear. 0 for three to start this game and so the ball out of bounds. Herder touched it last. Almost had the steal. You have to love the pressure defense. Yeah, pestering right now and that’s going to pay some dividends. At some point there’s going to be a turnover. The Warriors have gone 0 for three from the floor to begin this one. Green a screen. Oh, he powers right through the defender for the dunk. Draws the foul too and he’ll go to the line. It’s going to belong to Nicolvich. First trip to the free throw line for him tonight. What’s up, one thing this Golden State team does very well is control the offensive glass. spread. Well, there’s been a lot of talk analytically, BA, about how advantageous it is to come in and swoop through to grab offensive rebounds. Golden State has bought into that philosophy. They also have guys who take a lot of long shots. So, that’s long rebounds with a better chance of gaining an extra possession. So, some smart analytical play here from Golden State in the past couple seasons. Well, we talk about some expanded range. Herder’s got some himself to the inside. Here’s Green. He can’t get it to go. Vuvich with some nice D. So far, the team just one of five and that rim shrinking. And he’s going to the line for two. The officials saw contact while he was going up. When folks talk about Herurder, you hear a lot about his movement, Bren. Well, one thing you have to be in this league as a great shooter is willing to move without the basketball. puts a lot of pressure on your primary defender, but it can open up some lanes for your teammates. Kevin Herder, an elite skill working without the ball. And now they lead as the free throw drops in for him. Herder doesn’t get to the line a ton. Let’s see what he does here. And both free throws good for Herder. Well, the last time the Bulls won a playoff series was back in 2015, Grant. That was back when Butler and Rose were their leading scores. And it just shows you just how long it’s been, but they’ve been stuck in mediocrity ever since. And right now, they are desperate for a breakthrough season. How about the focus? Steph going on the inside has great numbers as a finisher. And Grant, once again, Stephen Curry hit 300 threes last season. Man, he’s in a class of his own. Well, there have been seven 300 plus three-point seasons ever. Stephen has five of them. He has the only 400 three-point year ever. So, yeah, BA Stefen has created his own class. One shot. And that one falls for Curry. Yeah. So easy to root for Stephen Curry because of how much fun he seems to have on the floor. Embraces the competition, but is able to laugh it off when something doesn’t go his way. A lot of things do, though. And timeout is called by Billy Donovan. He’s going to talk it over with his guys. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Over the past month, these small forwards have really showed us what they can do from the ark. Let’s see how their long range percentages all stack up. And you look at Herder, just an outstanding shooter. He’s currently fifth in the league in three-point percentage. These guys show unbelievable consistency shooting the three. It’s not the only skill they have, but it helps make them extremely dangerous. Well, even though they can score from anywhere on the court, once they get behind the ark, that’s where they do the most damage. As an opponent, the last thing you want to see is one of them getting a hot hand from deep for three. And once again, off the mark by Chicago. The Warriors leading outside heel pass to Curry. Here’s Pajki. I got And Vuvich over to help. Green with the ball. over Herder and it’s Green missing. This has not been a good quarter right here. Shot has been off the mark and now it looks Kevin like he’s pressing a bit. Back to White. Here’s Buchich. Second chance effort. Tipped. Curry looking it over. Popping in on the layup. Curry’s got five now. That’s tough. Tough finish. Steph’s not just a great shooter, but really great numbers through the years as being an elite finisher. There’s a screen. Here’s White and he hits the jumper. Yeah, here’s a list of things I don’t want to do. And right at the top is guard that guy on the wing. Curry defended by Jones. Shot is good by Curry. He’s got seven. The Bulls trail by three. Pass to Phillips. Herder up top. And that’s a foul called on Kevin Herder. That’s his first foul of the game. And great job to establish position and square up. The Warriors lead by three. Here’s Curry. He had a 15-point outing in their last game against Sacramento. Uses the glass to finish the layup. All those things that Steph does before the game and you think there’s no way he’s pulling those off in the game. Guess what? He’s pulling them off in the gate. Buch a screen on heel. Pass to Buch. Jones against Curry. Curry with the block. Hustle, anticipation, those are keys for Steph Curry on blocks like that. And that’s Jimmy Butler with a great finish there. Good hands to catch the pass and throw it through. And timeout is called by Billy Donovan. He wants to review the game plan. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. All right, a chance to check out stats for Stephen Curry. And his effective field goal percentage isn’t in the best place right now. Over the last five games, he hasn’t had much shot discipline. He’ll be looking to play a lot smarter today. Here’s Jones still without a bucket. And he lobbs it up. Phillips shot is off. That could have been an easy pass and finish. Not really sure what went wrong. Yeah, you like to keep things a little more simple and that was a play that didn’t quite develop the way they wanted it. Fades away. Chicago with a rebound. Vuvich has got six rebounds now in the game. Outside Jones. Here’s the three. The Warriors pull it in. Time now to hear from our reporter Ally Leforce. Well, the Warriors can be sloppy with the ball. Coach Kerr said, “I don’t mind turnovers that result from trying to make the extra pass. It’s the ones that don’t stand a chance to get through that bother me. If we just hit singles, we have so many playmakers and shooters that it’s all going to come out pretty positively.” Brian. All right, Ally. Thank you. Love it when Bhuvich attacks with intent. He has the size and strength to dominate around the cup to the paint and it’s Green missing. He’s lost his rhythm completely this quarter, but he’s determined to stay after it. Jones, his shot is good. And so it’s Curry with it. He brings it up for Golden State. Three-point lead down low. Hey, great communication on the lob. Oh, what a pass. Those two read each other really well. Looks like a play they’ve definitely run in practice. White the pass to Jones. Now White, he had a 33-point outing in their last game against the Clippers in Los Angeles. The shots good. White’s got his second basket. And they may have talked about shot selection coming into this. The Warriors lead by three outside heel. Back to Curry. Three-pointer. It’s hauled in by White. Chicago has gone one of four from deep over to the left wing. Here’s Phillips. He came away with 14 points in his last game. Six to shoot. His shot is off. Golden State has gone 0 for two from outside. And let’s talk about Draymond Green for a moment. Certainly one of the most outspoken players in the league. Well, Draymond has never held back, whether he’s talking about his opinion or the way that he sees the game, which is remarkable and a revelation to his intelligence as a defender on the floor. Draymond Green has been special on the defensive end throughout his career. White for three. Rebounded by Green. Green’s got four rebounds now. Pass to Pimsky. the three and it’s Chicago with a board. They couldn’t put the pieces together last time out, losing to the Clippers. I’ll tell you what, once things started to go downhill, their performance plummeted. It wound up getting pretty ugly. Yeah, it felt like just the entire roster was stuck in neutral. There was nobody offensively that could get anything going. The Bulls need to get off a shot. Phillips shot is off. The Warriors lead by three. Outside Pajimsky. Green with a screen on White. Up top. Pajimsky. He’s guarded by White. Golden State needs to get off a shot. And again, it’s the Warriors missing. Well, he’s just really struggling right now with everything he’s throwing up. Nothing really helping out in terms of his confidence. I mean, these ones aren’t even close. Vuvich finds White and a foul called on the way up. So, he’ll take two from the free throw line. That’s on Jimmy Butler. Man, the defender really went after him. Grant, how about Kobe White going from a bench player to one of the league leaders in minutes. Yeah, Kobe played more than 35 minutes per game last season, top 10 in the league. We saw White hit another level. So, he has an exciting future in front of him. That’s good from White. And the Warriors will go with a different look here. Jackson Davis has checked in for green. Santos comes in for Jimmy Butler. Moody’s checked in for healed. And it’s Curry in for Pajimski. And so he makes both from the line. You could tell he’s feeling confident right now at the line. And when he’s on, he can be lights out. White against Curry. They still need this. Curry shot is off. I love how they’ve attacked the boards here in the first quarter. Carter against Curry. Pass to Buch. The kick out to White. Lets the three fly. Goes back up. And there’s a whistle. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. Reese Jackson Davis picks one up. Well, that was clearly a foul. And a look now at how the offensive approach has been going here so far for the Warriors. Well, guys, early on they’re driving the lane constantly, using their quickness to gain an advantage. Look at their points off penetration. Well, whether the defense is inviting these shots or not, they’ve been great in the mid-range and so producing from there, that bodess well. ties it up and his next one could give him the lead for Chicago. Collins comes in for Vuchovic and Williams is subbed in for Carter and that one drops. So now they lead by one. A minute 22 left now in the first quarter. Pass to Curry to end the drought from beyond the arc and then some. Curry’s got 12 points in the game. Defense shaking their heads. No idea how to stop him in this quarter. He’s got him on the ropes. Collins outside. Here’s Dumu. lays it up and banks it in. Well, he’s too good a finisher to blow that kind of chance, but that’s going to be a wakeup call to the defense. Outside Curry launches the three drops and it comes off an assist from Curry. 15 points in the game. Pretty easy right now. Clear out. Give him some space. Let him get to work. Smith with a screen on Curry. Here’s Dumu and he jams it home with authority. Now that’s how you capitalize on a screen. Yeah, good positioning, too. Gave him a clear path to the hoop. Really not enough help there. Lack of communication on the backside. Curry passes to Moody. Hey, how’s that for an answer? Right back with the dunk. Those interior passes can be dangerous sometimes, but if the timing is good and you executed there, you can get easy hoops. White against Curry. And here’s White into the lane. Shoots over Curry. And there’s another one for the Bulls. One quarter in the books. And it’s been a close one. Warriors ahead up by one. And we’ll be back right after this. and close game underway so far. We’ll see if either of these teams can jump out ahead in this second quarter. And from what we’ve seen here from the Warriors, what’s your take so far? Well, there’s no reason to take risky shots when you can collect points at the rim. Yeah, that worked wonders for them in the quarter. We’ll see what kind of adjustments get made on the court right now. Second quarter for the Bulls. Jaylen Smith is out there with Williams. Then there’s Io Dumu. Then it’s Kobe White. And it’s Collins in at the five. Roaming the paint. The Warriors leading pass to Moody. All right, Grant, give it to us straight here. What’s the deal with star treatment in the NBA? You think star treatment? What is that, BA? No, I think some players have a reputation which might help them on 50/50 calls. And you could argue that some players have a reputation that hinders them on the 50/50 calls. So, it really just all depends. White on the wing, sends it home from three-point land. White’s got 13 and the lead just keeps changing hands five times already and we still haven’t gotten out of the first half. Oh, got a piece of it outside. Williams Dumu outside pass to White out of bounds. It’ll be Warriors ball. A look at how all-star voting is going thus far. And so much fun to see the tally start to come in. See how things start to look. You take a look at White. He certainly earned a lot of votes, just not enough to start in the East. And even if the fans don’t vote him in as a starter, you figure he’s going to be a reserve on the Eastern Conference All-Star team. It’s shaping up to be a terrific All-Star weekend. More news to come as we receive it. Pass to Santos. Now Curry, he’s guarded by White. Curry, he’s open. Sinks it again. That’s his seventh made field goal in 11 tries. He could score on you in bunches. Curry doing it all in this one. Now here’s Dumu. He’s covered by Curry. Smith with a screen on Curry. White the pass to Smith and it’s all from three-point range. Yeah, and the defense has really got to tighten up on him. I mean, he’s just too dangerous from the three-point line. Jackson Davis Collins with the defensive effort. The Bulls have gone just one of three to begin the second quarter. Dumu with it. They look to him to score consistently, averaging around 13 and a half a game. Oh, and it’s Collins that time on the assist by White. And the Bulls lead by two. Capable of torching you from that spot. Collins looking very comfy now. Here’s Curry. He’s covered by Dumu. Pass to Jackson Davis. Down to five on the shot clock. Brent, you could hit the three back in your day and no doubt Stephen Curry is the best three-point shooter in league history. What makes him so good from deep? To me, BA, it comes down to the way that Steph goes about his habits in practice. If you ever watch footage of him in pregame warm-ups or in the off season, there is so much variability in what he does in terms of preparing his feet and hands to shoot the basketball. There’s no one that practices the way that Steph does, and there’s no one that produces the way that he does either. And more artwork from the greatest shooter we’ve ever seen. Curry making it look easy. And so Curry nails both of them. Second quarter play. Almost three minutes gone here. Dumu outside and that makes him three for four. He’s looking good. When he decides he wants to take it to the bucket, it’s really hard for anyone to slow him down. Curry against White. A deep three. Chicago with a rebound. Well, after getting off to a great start hitting those first two shots, he’s definitely regressed a little bit in this quarter. Clock at six. The rebound by Moody. Even if you’re not shooting it, you like to see the effort level and his tonight has been high. You got to love how they’ve been crashing the boards, fighting hard for every miss. Dumu outside and it’s out of bounds. Last touch by Dumu. And this is what the schedule looks like for the Chicago Bulls. On Saturday, they’ll be facing Paul George and the Philadelphia 76ers. Then on Monday, they’ll be taking on Nola Joic and the Denver Nuggets. And for that game against the Celtics, you just know they want to make a statement in that contest. Beating the top team in the East would grab the rest of the league’s attention. Draymond Green, he’s checked in for the Warriors. Pajimky comes in for Curry. Phillips has checked in for Chicago. Jones comes in for Williams. Up top, Curry. Defended by Jones. And it’s blocked by Collins. Good job Collins inside. Quick off his feet. White the pass to Collins. Outside Jones for three and once again off the mark by Chicago. Golden State has gone 0 for two from outside in the second quarter. Pass to Curry. Oh, sweet move. Oh, nice job in the paint from Curry. Curry’s jumper just so pure he can go up from just about anywhere on the floor and knock him down. And the ball out of play. The Warriors will have it. And over the last 10 games, here are the shooting guards who have been scoring the best. Kobe White third. Yeah, the absolute best of the best at the shooting guard position. I mean, they can score the ball and flat out dominate defenses. Well, these are the assassins of the NBA right there. the players who can turn a game on its head when they start to feel it. They are almost always the primary focus of the opposing defense. Curry no good. And so it’s Jones who brings up the ball for the Chicago Bulls. They’ve only given up six here in this quarter. Nifty move and White lays it in. White’s got five points now this quarter. You look at what he’s doing here and it’s hard to imagine him playing much better. Curry against Jones. Now here’s Curry. Not a lot of room to the middle. Here’s Jackson Davis. And he caught that pass in full stride on his way to the big slam. I like watching Curry work the pick and roll. I wonder if his time with Steve Nash in the off season is paying some dividends. Impossible to guard those sets. Outside White. Jones misses. The Warriors have gotten only three of nine attempts to fall in the second. Curry passes to Moody. Green. A screen. Back to Curry. Fires the three. Chicago with a rebound. Yeah, we’re chipping some orange paint off the rim here, guys. He must be more patient on offense and trying to find ways to penetrate inside and get closer to the rim. Collins a screen the baseline. Jay White can’t hit. That’s a decent look for him. He just couldn’t convert. Green. The pass to Curry outside. Pajimsky over White and they force the shot clock violation. Great D and the Warriors make some changes. Jimmy Butler comes in for Jackson Davis and he is subbed in for Moody. Nikuchovic is checked in for Chicago. Comes in for Dumu and we’ll have a timeout called by Billy Donovan. He wants to give him a breather and talk things over. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Let’s take a look at the Western Conference standings now that the new year is upon us. You look at the Warriors sitting in seventh place right now. They’d like to climb up the standings. Well, I think for the Warriors, they’ve had some terrific moments this season, but where’s the big leap upward that we’ve been waiting for? Now, you just don’t want to sit in the middle for too long. and you either want to be competing against the top teams or starting to strategize where you can position yourself for a high lottery pick and maybe turn around your franchise’s fortunes. A chance here to catch up with Alli from the sideline. Nicole Busovich has seen a lot in his decade plus in the league and he said the game has changed. Now you have centers that can pass, put the ball on the floor, make plays and shoot threes, play like guards, and you can’t get stuck in time. You have to be able to adjust. Alli. He’s certainly got the skill level. Now here’s White defended by Pajimsky. Right side. White. Four on the clock. Back to Jones. And they waste no time getting those three points back. Jones has got his second bucket on the night. Oh, you got to love the back and forth. showing real confidence at the arc. Yeah, both teams finding ways to the three-point line and trying to take advantage from distance. Easy money for Stephen Curry. And now he’s dropped two three-pointers in each quarter. Curry against Jones. Pick by Vevich. Jones in the post. He’s covered by Curry. Jones misses. The Warriors lead by three. Pass to Heel to the inside Green. And it’s hammered home by Green. For all the things that Draymond does, when he gets dunks, it makes him even more excitable. Now Buchvich. Jones with the ball. He’s covered by Curry and a miss there on the triple. There are ways to contribute that don’t involve shooting the basketball. That’s the best way that maybe he can help them out trying to win this game. Bulls trail by five. Here’s Phillips hasn’t gotten one to fall yet on the wing. Jones. Now here’s Herderich. A screen on heel. There’s Herder with the three. It’s rebounded by Golden State. Green’s got nine rebounds now. Pass to Curry. Chicago with a rebound. Jones has got his fourth rebound in this one. White on the wing. And here is Vuch. He’s covered by Curry. Here’s Phillips from downtown. Offensive rebound. Second chance shot. Veovich gets the bucket. Well, Veovich has finished a couple times in the top 10 of offensive boards in part because of his feel for the game. And Steve Kerr calls timeout here. He’s going to gather the troops and talk it over. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. Moody’s checked in for the Warriors. Dumu, he’s checked in for Chicago. The Warriors lead by three now. Pajimski. An 11-point game for him in the win against Sacramento. They get it again. Heel finds Green. tries yet again. Oh, look at Green inside. Draymond did a good job of getting some space there and rooting himself to collect. They’ve been having major problems offensively. Definitely in a bit of a dry spell. Back to Herder. Three-pointer drops in the three. Herder’s got eight points. Easy look when the defender isn’t fighting over the screen. Yeah, the coach over there just asking for one simple thing and that’s some effort. Got burned on that one. Outside Moody pass to Heel. Launches it from deep and it’s cleared by Buch. Buch has got doubledigit rebounds now in the game. The score now all even. Give him eight. You got to keep the ball moving and that time Herder’s pass leads to an open look. outside heel and here’s Pajki. Oh, the lead pass was in the perfect spot to set up the layup. Credit their discipline. They’ve been working for high percentage shots. A screen on heel. Here’s Dumu. Pass to Buch. Outside Jones. Five on the clock. Valvich over Green Bounces high off the rim and drops. Yeah, that first quarter was a bit shaky. Good to see a player who doesn’t let a slow start get to him outside. Moody back to Pajimski lets the three fly and it’s Tumu with a rebound. It’s Herder on the wing defended by Pajimski. Here’s Jones. Oh, no good on the last second attempt there. So, a tie game here as we finish the first half. And don’t go away after the break. We’ll see you right back here for the start of quarter number three. Everyone’s jacked up to see Chris Paul join the organization. The leadership and the wisdom he brings to a team is truly invaluable. He’s like having a star player and a star coach on the floor at the same time. And now guys, let’s talk about these Warriors and this close game they find themselves in. Look at the rebounding numbers. I’m surprised they’ve stayed this close. They’re not cleaning the glass. It’s more like they’re fogging it up. Thanks for tuning in. Now it’s time to head back over to Brian Anderson for the start of the third quarter. And after a fairly even first couple of quarters, this second half could turn out to be a great one as both teams trying to gain an edge. Stephen Curry having a dominant impact in this game. He’s been excellent at cutting through the defense and giving them fits around the basket. Yeah, you want these kind of nights where you can start to see those openings before they happen. And so it’s Jones who brings up the ball for Chicago. And after this one, they’re at home against Philadelphia. And that’s the first of just two home games for him. Curry and Pods make up the back court. Buddy Heield is out there with Jimmy Butler and it’s Green in at the five down low. And that’s the group for Steve Kerr as we begin the second half. Well, Chicago shooting only 40% from the floor in this game. Has to Phillips. Now here’s White Defended by Pachimsky. Picked by Buchvich. Here’s White and the go-ahead bucket. No good. Here’s Golden State. Green. The pass to Curry. Count the basket and the foul. That’s on Trey Jones. Good focus there from Steph Curry musling past the defense. Yeah, I said it. Musling to get the contact. This is his third trip to the free throw line in this game. That one misses for Curry. Chicago trailing here. Herder from long range. Offensive board. Second shot opportunity. White can’t hit. Not sure they realize it’s not halftime anymore. Four attempts and they’re still looking for their first bucket. Curry finds Green. Here’s an eight-footer. That one’s wide left. The Bulls have gone 0 for four. Not the way they want to start the second half. Well, Brent, there are only a handful of players in the league with the big game experience of Butler. Yeah, and those big games, BA, are where he’s had some of his best moments. It’s been on several different teams as well. So, the bigger the game gets, the bigger Jimmy Butler appears to show up. Pass to Pajimski. Here’s Curry defended by Jones. And again, it’s the Warriors missing. The Bulls have gotten just one of five shots to drop since halftime. Back to White for the lead and it’s good on the layup. White’s got four points now in the quarter and his fantastic performance from the last game has carried over to tonight. Yeah, the coach pretty smart for zoning in on him and giving him opportunities to stay with that confident play. Curry no good. One for four in the second half. Just trying to get into a rhythm. Oh, there’s the alley. Hammers the lob through. The great read between those two guys. The defense didn’t stand a chance. Ba. These two teammates right here, Grant, they are connected. Just over two and a half minutes gone by in the second half. Lets it fly. Rebound by the Bulls. Veovich has got 12 rebounds here tonight. Big time effort. Yeah. Starting the half here one for five. And the offense might need an ironing out. Back to White. Pass to Phillips. Now here’s Buch. And he got the whistle on the way up. So, he’ll be headed to the line for a pair. You love a big man like Buch puts in the effort to keep improving. For example, look at what he’s done with this perimeter shooting. Shooting two. That one misses. He hits the second from the line. Third quarter here and three minutes have come off the clock. Offensively, it’s been a struggle for him. Yeah, they need to string together some shots to have any kind of chance. Here’s Hee and a nice finish on the layup. Buddy showing more than just the fact that he’s a shooter. Working his way strength on the inside there. And here’s Jones. He’s got five. Here’s White Laid it in with a nice touch off the window. White’s got 21 points in the game. And now almost all their points coming from the paint. Oh, deflected. Curry against Jones. Pass to White. Soft touch off the glass. And now it’s a seven-point Chicago lead. I mean, they’ve been relentless. Just keep getting shots at the rim. Looking to end this cold spell. The shot won’t fall. Good job hitting the glass. They’re plus eight in rebounding. They set the pick. Takes it inside. Here’s Phillips. Rebounded by Green. Green’s got 12 rebounds here tonight. Big time effort. Outside heel from the arc. Chicago with a rebound. Phillips has got his fourth rebound in this one. Jones finds Herder. Here’s Phillips. Now Buchvich guarded by Heel. All right, let’s have a look at the leaderboard to see which team scored the most points off turnovers this past month. Number five, the Bulls. They’ve done a great job using their defense to create for them on offense. Turn it over against this team and you’re going to be in trouble. Take a break. Take a break. First one falls for him. And so Vuch nails both of them. Warriors trail by nine outside. Curry over Jones and it’s good as he snugs it right through the net. Curry’s got 31. Well, the rest of the team has looked pretty bad tonight, but he’s done a fantastic job of scoring the ball and carrying the load on offense. Let’s go with a three and Phillips gets it to go. Phillips has got five points now this quarter. No way he’s going to pass that shot up. The D is way too far back and relaxed in getting out on it. Healed against Herder. Pass to Curry and it’s cleared by Vuchic. Vuchevich has got 13 rebounds in the game. Glass heating and it’s going to be out of bounds. The Bulls will retain possession. Now that we’re into the new year, how about a check on the Eastern Conference standings? You look at the Bulls, middle part of the year, they’re in 10th place. They need to put together some wins. Checking out Chicago. It’s really been an intriguing year for them. I mean, they work hard. They play gritty, but they’re just so inconsistent. I just think if you’re on the other side, how much are you looking at that team and saying, “We’re scared of them.” So, not a lot of fear from the opposition and what they’re bringing to the table. They’re good. They compete, but do they have that extra gear? I’m not sure. Just so successful getting the ball inside and finding those great looks. Back to Green Outside. Moody. Green. A screen. The floater. Moody misses. And their physical dominance has been on display. A 10 rebound advantage is a good indicator of how this game has gone. Pass to Buch. Here’s Phillips. Jones with the ball. He’s covered by Curry. And here is Buch. No good on the three. It’s Pajimky on the wing. Defended by Jones. Outside. Curry down low. Here’s Green. The kick out. Curry. That three is off the mark. Well, he was terrific in the first half, guys. Maybe some adjustments from the opposing team coach, and he’s lost a little bit of that touch here in the second. Dumu, the pass to Jones. Here’s Phillips. The three is up. That’s good. And it’s Jones with the assist. Jones has got his fourth assist with that last one. Their long range shooting since halftime has been as strong as you could hope for. Outside Moody, outside Pajki. Green with a screen on White. Pajki into the lane. Shot clock at six. Good work defensively by White. Bulls leading by 15. Picked by Buchvich. White with it. Green picks him up. White can’t hit. He’s been tremendous at coring misses all night long. Yeah, it’s almost like he’s got a magnet on that ball here tonight. He’s in the right spot all the time. Outside. Moody outside. Curry looking to win the run. Hits the trifecta. Curry’s got seven points here in the quarter. Well, if he’s hitting shots from there, he becomes so much more dangerous. Bite good and the Bulls lead by 14. We’ve seen that more than once today. An effortless basket inside. Green with a screen on Jones to the paint and it’s Green missing. They’ve shown the power inside. Their rebounding effort has been sensational. White finds Vuvich. Dumu outside. Pass to Phillips. Outside. Jones. the three and the rebound goes to the Warriors. Green’s got 14. Yep. 14 rebounds for him tonight. Outside Pajki, the jump hook. Ooh, lands soft on the front of the rim and drops in. Nine points in the game now. The combo of strength and quickness from Butler that’s going to help him on the inside. And he makes no mistake. Slam dunk. And after putting it down, he dangles from the rim a little. Man, that’s borderline taunting right there, Grant. They’re playing with a certain swagger right now. Green. The pass to Curry. The rebound by Phillips. And here’s White. and he’ll bring it up for the Bulls. Pass to Jones inside. Shoots. Buch. That’s good. And it’s Jones with the assist. Jones has got five assists tonight. Yeah. Showing a little versatility with their offensive attack. And the first half, it was about the three ball. In the second half, they’ve emphasized interior scoring. And Steve Kerr calls timeout here. A moment to rest and confer on the game plan. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. And some changes here for the Warriors. Jackson Davis has checked in for Draymond Green. Santos comes in for PJsky. And it’s Curry in for Curry. 127 left to play in the third quarter. Pass to Santos. And here’s Jackson Davis. Covered by Veovic. Moody with it. Clock at six now. Here’s Jackson Davis. Covered by Veovich. Here’s Moody. Rebound by the Bulls. Veovich has got his 16th rebound on the night. Williams passes to Smith. Williams. A screen on Curry. Young looking over the floor. Williams finds Young. Here’s Dumu beyond the arc. Jackson Davis grabs the miss. Yeah, and the defense has really got to tighten up on him. I mean, he’s just too dangerous from the three-point line down low, throws it down, and the official calls a foul. It may be a three-point play. It goes on Patrick Williams, and this is his first trip to the line tonight. Terry’s checked in for Chicago. And the free throw no good. 8sec difference between the shot clock and game clock. Williams in the post. Moody defends. Smith outside. Now here’s Dumu. Defense is right there. Smith passes to Terry. Takes a three and the rebound goes to the Warriors. Jackson Davis in the high post. That one drops for him. Jackson Davis has got four points now in the quarter. Well through three quarters of play, down double digits. It may be difficult to overcome. Bulls out in front up by 12 and time to step away quickly, but we’ll be back in no time with the start of the fourth quarter. And a worthy candidate tonight as we take a look at our State Farm assist of the game. You know, I’m kind of stoked this was the choice because I love this pass. A remarkable find. He put his court vision on full display. Well, a great job with the eyes. And what separates great playmakers as we know is peripheral vision. And we reach the fourth quarter in a game that may already be out of hand. And so in the game for the Bulls, they’ve got Jaylen Smith. Dumu is out there with Kobe White. And it’s Williams. And it’s Collins in at the five outside. Mooney fires from deep that drops and it comes off an assist from Curry. Curry’s got three assists in the game. Unleashes the bounce pass. An accurate assist outside. White tried to come right back with a three of his own, but it’s no good. He made a three back in the first half, but that’s it. We’ll see if he can find his stroke. Curry no good. Bulls leading by nine. Pass to Dumu. Back to White. Dumu. The pass to Williams. Six to shoot. Here’s Dumu. He’s covered by Curry. Now here’s White. Takes the three. Hits the three-pointer. White’s got 30. Down the stretch. He’s been flat out awesome. He helped them get the lead and now he’s making sure they keep it outside. Moody. There’s the triple. It’s called in by White. White’s got rebound number nine now. What an effort here tonight. Pass to Williams. Dumu right side. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. Trace Jackson. Davis picks one up. All right, guys. What do you think so far about the offensive approach for Chicago? They’ve been slippery getting into the lane all game long. Putting that help defense to the test all game long. They’ve just done a great job of keeping the pressure on the defense and penetrating with the pass. They’ve gotten everything inside and they’ve converted there. That free throw misses. And the second free throw is good. And a little over a minute and a half gone by in the fourth pass to Santos. Jackson Davis’s screen to the paint. That one is off. Collins with the defensive effort. Dumu outside. Smith passes to White. And the officials whistle a foul on the shot. The bucket is good and he’ll go to the line. A fantastic move right there. Just that quick little reverse layup. And the Warriors making a change here. But Jimky’s checked in and a change for the Bulls. Jones has checked in. That’s good from White. Warriors trail by 16. Outside Pajki. Pass to Curry. screen over Jones and that time also a miss shot and White has got the ball here for Chicago. 16-point lead, the largest margin in the game. Collins a screen. Vumu can’t hit. The Warriors have gotten only one of five to fall here in the fourth. Back to Pajki. Pass to Curry from deep three-point range. Oh, Curry making it look effortless. Putting on a shooting clinic from deep. He had that huge first half and he’s still rolling. Back to Collins now. Here’s White Defended by Pajki. White can’t hit. Warriors trail by 13. It’s Pajimky on the wing. He’s covered by Dumu. Pass to Curry. Jackson Davis’s screen from deep three-point land. Chicago with a rebound. Smith’s got his fifth rebound in this one. Back to Jones. Smith outside. And here’s Dumu. Now White defended by Pajimski. White can’t hit. The Warriors have gone two for seven from the field here in the fourth. Not great from outside the ark. Smith with the rebound. Smith’s got six rebounds now in the game. To the inside. Here’s Collins. Oh, and makes it with the kiss. And the Bulls lead by 15. Like a matador. Olay. There was no defense. That has to be one of the easier shots I’ve seen tonight. Yeah, feels like Christmas right now. Just gift dropping points. And Steve Kerr calls timeout here. Coach clearly has something he wants to say to his team right now. Heat. Heat. Stay here. And let’s send it over to Alli Leforce. I was able to listen in on what Steve Kerr had to say to the team. Point blank, he wants better shot selection. He told them, “We’re settling, guys. Come on. We’re not being patient out there. We’re not working the ball around. That has to change right now.” Okay. Thanks, Ally. Bulls on deep. So far in the fourth, they’ve allowed just six points. Outside, Pajki launches a three. Chicago with a rebound. But he’s not the guy that you want to give a wideopen look from three-point range. They’re lucky that that one doesn’t cost them and just executing at a high level. I mean, taking what the defense allows and putting in the work. Basketball IQ is something that gets talked about, but it’s importance to a team showing up here running plays that turn into scores. Pass to Pajimsky. Just five to shoot. Off target from outside. Here are the Bulls with the ball. They’re on an 11-3 run. Collins right side. Dumu outside. 11 ft out and no good. Warriors trail by 17. Pass to Jackson Davis. Up top of Jimky. He’s guarded by White. Back to Jackson Davis. Good work there as it goes. Disappointing as a player to have such a great game and still be trailing. Not over yet, though. Outside White. Collins. A screen. The three ball. The Warriors pull it in. Moody’s got four rebounds now. They’re searching for a way to score. Yeah, buckets have been very tough to come by. Back to Jackson Davis. Pass to Pajimsky. And here’s Curry for three. Yes, Curry from the corner. Even if this game doesn’t go their way, he has to be proud of his performance tonight. Jones. The pass to White to the middle and the rebound goes to the Warriors. The Lakers will be traveling in to face them after this one. Here’s Pachki. And the layup is good off the glass. Oh, explosive crossover. How’s that for a move? Pass to Smith now. White and that one goes in as he’s fouled. It’ll be three points if he converts the free throw. Well, Grant, it appears the league expansion is around the corner. Any concerns about spreading the talent too thin? Uh, not really, BA. I mean, the global pool of players competing for an NBA roster spot has never been deeper, so there’s plenty of talent to go around. That’s good from White. Warriors trail by 13 and it’s cleared by Buch. Veovich has got rebound number 17 if you can believe that. Jones finds Herder. Three-pointer off the mark. Boy, you love how guys are making plays for one another here. Yeah, just a balanced attack, a total team effort. And here’s Green from the arc. Gets hauled in by the Bulls. Jones has got six rebounds now in the game up top. White. Pass to Phillips. The three. Rebounded by Green. Green’s got 15 rebounds here tonight. Now Pachimski heel to the ball. Here’s Curry. Puts up a deep three and it’s cleared by Vevich. Jones with the ball outside. Herder back to Jones. And so he draws the foul. Headed to the line to shoot a pair. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. That’s good from Jones. and so he hits both. Warriors trail by 15. Outside Green pass to Curry. 43. Another shot down low. Butler drops it in. Just relentless Jimmy Butler. Outside. Herder to the paint. Cuts off the pass. White with a steal. Warriors with the rebound. Boy, they need something to go to regain some confidence. No question. Way too many empty possessions for them. Oh, come on, BA. I mean, where’s the defense? That’s just too easy. They got to do a much better job and help. Yeah, we see this all too often. The team gets a huge lead and then their guard gets let down. To the inside, out to the wing. Here’s Phillips. He drops it from range. Are we sure that’s the same player, guys? He looks completely different. What confidence he’s playing with and look how engaged he is on both ends. The three from Curry. Chicago with a rebound. Vuvich has got rebound number 19 now. Incredible board work. White looking it over. That’s in there. Buch. White’s got 40 points. Great timing and coordination. Lays it in coming off that pick. Curry from deep three-point land sinks it. What range from downtown. What else can we say about Steph Curry? Simply one of the greatest shooters we’ve ever seen. Back to White. A minute 53 left in the fourth and the layup is good. White’s got 42 in the game. There’s some easy offense there. Keep finding looks in that area and their shooting percentages tonight are going to be off the charts. Curry no good. Bulls leading by 15 outside Jones. Here’s White back to Jones. Puts up a three. Rebounded by Green. It looks like it’ll be a big win for them here. Time to just cruise to the end of the game and chalk up the victory for the Bulls. You could say the difference tonight was their shooting at the Charity Strike. Great focus allowed them to win the free throw battle and that battle won them the war. Looking at this year so far, this will make 22 wins for them. And they meet just twice. So taking the first meeting means a lot to this team. And what a huge performance it was for Kobe White. Just really loved his activity level here tonight. Constantly mixed it up and he threw himself into a lot of plays. Pass to Buch. White with it. Defended by Pajki. White can’t hit. 35 seconds left in the fourth quarter. And here’s healed. Herder defending. Curry against Jones. Curry gets the bucket. Curry’s got 45 points. And so it’s Jones who brings up the ball for Chicago. 13-point lead. So, no problem for Chicago as they get the win. Exceptional effort on the road. They were ready and they were focused. Focused indeed. I mean, it takes a strong mental approach to block out the distractions. These guys stepped up 100%. All right, Alli’s ready to go. She’s courtside. Hey, Ally. All right, thank you so much, B. It’s got to feel great to just get a win. How important was this one? That was very important for us. Uh we had, you know, quite a bit of a rough stretch lately. Uh a lot of losing and uh it’s not easy to deal with it, you know, but uh tonight we came out, we got it done and that’s all that matters, you know. Sometimes we need a game like this and kind of get going. Uh it was a big win for us. We needed to add one more to the win, Colin. So big for us. I think helps with our confidence. So that was good for everybody. It’s great to know if you keep your head down, it’ll pay off. Thanks so much, V. Thanks, Ally. Great interview once again. And that’ll wrap it up, folks. For Brent Barry, Grant Hill, and Ally Leforce, this is Brian Anderson. Thank you for watching this 2K Sports presentation of the NBA. And let’s reveal our player of the game, Kobe White.
