Dallas Mavericks BLOCKBUSTER TRADE For Giannis Antetokounmpo After MAJOR NBA Insider Report?

We got an update from Shams Shirania about one of the NBA’s best players as Shams went on get up this morning and said that Giannis Aedumbbo could potentially be moving teams this off season. And when you think about it, the off season kind of already almost over as we sit here in early August and teams go to training camp at the end of September. So teams still have about a month left to do their business, but Giannis could potentially be on the move. Let’s jump right into what Shams had to say earlier this morning. Sources tell me that there’s still nothing set in stone about whether Giannis outside will stay in Milwaukee or whether he will be leaving. There’s been some very real conversations over the last week or so. The constant question that Giannis has thought is, can I win a championship with this roster? talking about the Bucks, is this roster going to be one for the upcoming year and 2627? He’s asking that question over and over. Shams also said that there are multiple teams waiting in the wings if Giannis does become available this off season and they are ready to strike. Could the Dallas Mavericks be on that list? I’ll be honest, it would surprise me if they weren’t going to at least try to do something. And this is an extremely interesting development because we kind of thought that everything with Giannis was going to kind of fizzle out and nothing would happen this off season and it would get revisited in the summer of 2026. But now that Damen Lillard is officially gone and we know that Giannis didn’t feel too great about how things went down there in Milwaukee, there’s still the potential that Giannis and the Bucks could have a parting of ways this summer. And currently Giannis is in Greece to participate in Euro Basket. So he’s away from the Bucks. He’s away from the NBA and he’s over in Europe getting ready for Euro Basket where a bunch of the NBA’s European stars are going to be playing here in about a month or so. So it while his focus is currently on team Greece, there’s also some rumblings behind the scenes that things in Milwaukee have not been completely solved yet. When you’re talking about Giannis, you’re talking about one of the top three players in the league. And I don’t think it’s close. I think you’re talking about Jokic, you’re talking about Giannis, and you’re talking about Luca. This is a guy who has averaged over 30 points the last three seasons. He’s a multi-time MVP, one of the best rebounders in the league, one of the best finishers at the rim in the league. When Giannis gets going downhill from the three-point line, there is no stopping him. He’s also really improved his playmaking as well, averaging six and a half assists in the last three games or last three seasons as well. Giannis is someone who can do it all truly on the offensive and defensive end. You can play him at the five. You can also have him run your offense as a deacto point guard. He truly is a unicorn and one of one of the top players in the league. So, if the Mavericks have a chance to go get Giannis, they should absolutely try to do so. However, I do think that getting Giannis to Dallas would be nearly impossible. There are two avenues in which the Mavericks could go about trying to acquire Giannis. Number one would be a straight swap for Anthony Davis and Giannis. When you take a look at their contracts, they are the exact same to the dollar. Giannis has three years and 175 mil left, including that player option in 2728. And yeah, Anthony Davis, it’s the exact same deal to the dollar. they have the exact same contract because they signed the exact same maximum deal. So theoretically, if you wanted to swap Giannis for AD directly and throw in some picks in there, you absolutely could. And if the Bucks would entertain a Giannis for Anthony Davis swap, then go for it by all means. I just don’t think Milwaukee would be interested in that sort of deal. I think if they’re trading Giannis, they want a boatload of picks. They want a boatload of young players or expiring contracts in order to get them under the salary cap so they can go spend money. So, I don’t think that a Giannis for AD swap is likely by any means. And if it was, I think this deal may have already been done already because I’m sure the Mavericks would be jumping at the bit to try to do that. Well, I say that, but Nico Harris does love Anthony Davis more than anybody on this earth. So, maybe not. But a a Giannis for AD swap. would obviously be my preferred method of going to get Giannis. I just don’t think the Bucks would have any interest in that whatsoever. Be the GM for me down there in the comment section. This will be today’s poll question. Should the Mavs try to make a Giannis trade happen? If you think they should, type T for trade. If you think, nah, it’s already too late. Type P for pass down there in the comment section. If I know one thing about Nico Harrison, he makes aggressive moves. Whether you like it or not, he does things that people think aren’t possible. He somehow lucked not and this wasn’t an aggressive move, but he lucked into Cooper Flag. He made the aggressive move of the century in making a win now move trading for Anthony Davis in exchange for Luca. So if whether or not you like the guy, he is not afraid to go make a move that people think is bold and aggressive and whatever adjective you want to describe. So, I wouldn’t completely rule the Mavericks out in this scenario here, but it’s certainly a possibility that the Mavs and N or Mavs and Nico try to make a move if Giannis does indeed ask out of Milwaukee. And of course, if Giannis asks out, we will have you covered right here on the channel. We’ll keep you up to date with all of the latest Mavericks news and rumors. A couple of other potential landing spots here for Giannis. I think the New York Knicks, who have always talked about potentially landing the big superstar on the market via trade, they’re absolutely in play. We know that they wanted to hire Jason Kidd as their next head coach, who Giannis absolutely loves. So, keep an eye on the Knicks. The Miami Heat have been mentioned as a potential shooter for Giannis. The Mavs rival San Antonio Spurs as well because of their young pieces and uh assets and picks and whatnot. The Brooklyn Nets just because they have a bunch of cap space, young players picks as well. And then the Mavericks have also kind of been talked about as a potential Giannis destination. But I think the Mavericks do have the most complicated path to get there. Because the question you have to ask yourself if you’re the Mavericks is this. Considering that they wouldn’t do an AD free swap, let’s just take that out of the equation right now. It just wouldn’t happen. The question is, would you consider trading Cooper Flag and matching salary along with additional draft compensation to go get Giannis? That is absolutely the question the Mavericks will have to ask themselves because that’s the only way you’re going to get number 34 in a Maverick’s uniform. We’ll talk about the potential of the Mavericks trading for Cooper Flag here or trading for Giannis in exchange for Flag in just a moment, but please get hooked up with our friends over at Fanatic today. So, this deal for Giannis and in exchange for Flag would require a ton of moving parts. It’s almost just not feasible that a trade between Flag and the Mavs or between Flag, the Mavs, and the Bucks could happen without involving a third, maybe even a fourth team. You would just be sacrificing all of your depth in order to go get Giannis. And this team was built on depth. It was built on versatility. And the way it would work is you would have to trade the likes of Cooper Flag, PJ Washington, Daniel Gaffford, maybe even Klay Thompson, and either Jaden Hardy or Max Christie or whoever it may be to try to get the salary to add up. So, if you didn’t want to do the Davis route, which the Bucks would not, you would have to give up four or five of your depths players plus Cooper Flag and picks in order to go get Giannis. And at the end of the day, the Mavericks have to ask themselves if that is worth it. The best thing about this team, and I think what its calling card is, is the depth and versatility. They’re going to be able to switch at almost every position on the defensive end. And they’re truly 10, 11, maybe even 12 deep on this roster. Are you going to gut that for Giannis at Kumbbo? Now, Giannis, of course, a top three player in the league. You’d be adding him alongside Anthony Davis. If Kyrie comes back healthy and the Mavericks are in the hunt, it’s absolutely something that you would have to consider. At the end of the day though, would you be able to trust all of these guys to stay healthy in order to play heavy minutes? Because they would have to because the Mavericks would have zero depth. So, a potential starting lineup of Max Christie, Caleb Martin alongside Kyrie, Giannis, and Anthony Davis. Is that intriguing? Absolutely. They’d be the best defensive team in the world with AD and Giannis at the five and the four. You’d have the versatile wing and Caleb Martin at the three with Max Christie and Kyrie Irving. The team wouldn’t have a ton of offensive creation from the guard spot outside of Kyrie. But when you have Giannis, who you know can also play that point forward role, can playmake as well and gets downhill at that elite level, it would make things a lot easier. The team wouldn’t be a great shooting team either, but they could put their calling card on defense. they could put their calling card on getting to the rim and it would be a very intriguing proposition. And I just want to put this out there. I’m not saying that it’s very likely that a Yiannis trade happens at all, but if he does ask out of Milwaukee, it’s certainly possible that the Mavericks are involved. Our final question to you here on the show, would you trade Cooper flag for Giannis? Give me a simple why for yes or an N for no down in the comments section. and give me your reasoning as well cuz I want to hear what all Mavs fans think about potentially trading Flag for Giannis. PF/C Giannis Antetokounmpo is rumored to be on the move after the Milwaukee Bucks seemingly head for a rebuild after the 2024 NBA playoffs saw injuries derail their run. With an unestablished current core, Giannis is said to be unhappy with the team and has demanded to be traded. Starting Mavs lineup with Giannis trade:
Kyrie Irving
Max Christie
Caleb Martin
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Anthony Davis

The problem with this trade according to Mavs today host Jeffrey Cooperstein is that the Mavericks would be sacrificing all of their depth for Giannis and one injury to one of their stars could derail the entire season. The Mavericks dealt with their fair share of injuries in the 2024-25 NBA season and making a trade like this would put them in a similar spot.
