NBA LIVE! Los Angeles Lakers vs Oklahoma City Thunder August 5, 2025 | 2025 NBA Season Live 2K
Heat. Heat. N. excited matchup, but anything can happen in the NBA, Grant. That is the truth. I mean, that’s why they play the games. One guy gets hot, a team gets cold. That’s all it takes to swing the entire outcome of a game. And the Lakers starting five. They’ve got Luca Donuch, LeBron James out there with Ruachimura. Then it’s Austin Reeves. And it’s Aiden at the five down low. And Lugan’s leaning in that time as he gets to the pull up in the mid ring. Donic passes to Achimura. Back to Donic [Applause] over Dort. A nice shot by Donic. That’s just tremendous scoring instinct. So fun to watch him work in the half court. And here’s Gilas Alexander outside. Williams off target with the three. And Reeves has got the ball here for the Lakers. And keeping us updated from the sideline, Ally Leforce. Mark Dagnull gave me a few minutes to catch up with him. We talked about how exhausting it is to go up against Luca Donic. Coach told me, quote, “Luca’s probably the toughest cover in the league because no one has been able to figure out a way to stop him. We have to just bring the intensity and do our best to slow him down. It’s going to take a team effort to get that done. Back to UBA and Ally, thank you for that.” Here’s Gilas Alexander and he drops in the layup off the glass and he’s got the ability to do damage inside and out. SGA’s not going to miss that. [Applause] James outside. Pass to Donic. Let’s go with a three and the rebound goes to the Thunder. And I’m surprised that didn’t go down. I mean, I’m sure he is too. Williams passes to Dort. Gilgis Alexander against James. Donic grabs the miss. for Los Angeles. They’ve gone one of four to begin this one. [Applause] Williams against Achimura. James outside. [Music] Aiden the screen on Dort. Five on the clock. Here’s James and he gets it to go off the front iron. And you can’t give LeBron James that much room off the pick. He doesn’t need much space to get that shot off. Donic against Gilis Alexander and it’s good from the elbow. There’s a great pace to Gilas Alexander’s game. The mid-range fits well. This past off season, OKC decided to move on from their former first round pick, Josh Giddy. Yeah, the sixth overall pick in 2021. Giddy is a talented player with good upside, but fit is so important in the NBA and the Thunder knew his talents would be better suited elsewhere. Now here’s Williams and that one drops for him. And he is stronger than he looks, trust me. I mean, Williams has the bulk to win those tough battles inside. [Applause] And there’s Aiden on the assist from James and setting the tempo with an assertive move. Like where was the defense on that play? Yeah, APB sent out to try to find out where the defense is. Inexcusable. Now here’s Gilas Alexander. Pass to Homegrren. Three-pointer. The offensive rebound. Dort with it outside. Gilas Alexander. Oh, the Thunder tack on two more. A that jumper so pure. Gilgis Alexander with great confidence. Donic passes to Aiden. And here’s Reeves. [Applause] [Applause] Dunk by James and the defense make it too easy for LeBron. James can’t let him get that close. Outside Williams. Come on, man. Take that. Williams, a screen on Donic. And Gilas Alexander. Here we go. And over the last few years, SGA has emerged as an allNBA level player. Brent, what’s been the key to his success? I think the key BA to him is his confidence. I think that he feels like he is overlooked on a nightly basis and does not get the respect he deserves. So, he comes in with that chip on his shoulder and he plays the entire game coming at any defense that people throw at him. That free throw good from Gillis Alexander and something that makes SGA so dangerous on offense, his elite drive and kickability. Yeah, you have to load towards him when he comes off a high pick. He just draws so much attention and can find another cutter or a spot up shooter. He has so much gravity to his game. That’s also good. So he hits both free throws. Well, when he gets into a groove at the free throw line, it doesn’t just last for tonight. This might be two weeks, two months, something like that. Back to Donic for three. Hits the three-pointer. Donic has got five. encouraging to see Donic sink the three. Needs to keep doing this now. And Mark Dagnel has called a timeout. We might see him looking to make some tweaks to the strategy here. [Applause] [Applause] outside. Gilis Alexander [Applause] Homegrren with a screen on Donic down low and the big finish by Homegrren. And you know as a roller, Homegrren shows great hands and he makes nice adjustments moving downhill. James outside and another three for the Lakers. Defensively you have to stay connected to him on the perimeter. Gilis Alexander passes to Dort. Back to Gilgis Alexander to the inside. The kick out to Williams. [Applause] Gilis Alexander against Donic. Gilis Alexander. Good. Gil Alexander’s got 10 points. Gilas Alexander is such a tough cover, especially at his size. outside. Reeves back to Donic. Hey yo, right here. Right here. Williams against James. Shot clock at six. The Lakers got to get one up. Late clock. Offensive rebound. Hayden finds James. Got it. Makes him four for six from the floor. Look, with the size and athleticism of LeBron James, it gives you more problems than the math book. Gilg Alexander passes to Williams. Back to Dor. Pass to Williams. Now Caruso. Williams. A screen on Reeves. And here’s Caruso outside. Drops in the three. Defensively, you can’t afford to get stuck on the pick. That’s one that the coaches will watch tomorrow with that player. You hate to see him give up in that situation. And you can’t let Donets get this type of positioning because then you’re pretty much forced to foul him. These are his first free throws of the game. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. [Applause] And he knocks down the first one. And Donas is a walking triple double threat. His versatility and confidence is really special. Donic hits them both. And here’s Gilas Alexander. He’ll bring it up for the Thunder. And Aiden pulls it down. The Lakers trail. Here’s James. They get it again and Aiden gets it to go. Aiden so big inside. He turns a miss into an opportunity. Oklahoma City has gone two for four from range to start things off. Come get it. Come get it. Williams against James. Gilas Alexander on the wing. He’s got 10 from deep. Homegrounded by the Lakers. James outside [Applause] back to Donic and Donic with the jam going on the attack. Luca doesn’t give them a chance to get between him and the rim. Caruso the pass to Dort Williams with it inside. Here’s Gilas Alexander and slam dunk by Gilis Alexander. Wow. I’ll tell you such an advantage having a playmaker who can get up to the rim and finish. Now that is what every team wants. Like to see that assertiveness especially from the guy who’s going to orchestrate your offense. So it’s Los Angeles now following the bucket by Oklahoma City. Pass to James. Six to shoot. Let’s go. And it goes as the official calls the foul. Count it. And he’ll shoot one more at the line. And a chance for just a second to check out the scoring breakdown for the Lakers. Ever since this game started, they’ve been attacking on the inside, looking for ways to bust up the defense and get high percentage looks. Love the passing that they displayed at the start of the game. Great ball movement that’s opening up some chances without really getting deep into the execution. [Applause] Here’s Williams. [Applause] They set the pick. Six on the shot clock. Goes up at the elbow. Drained it for two points. And I like when Williams works in these mid-range areas. I mean, such an impressive score. Smart with the ball to the middle and Vanderbilt slams it in. A bit undized. His hops make him a legit small ball four. [Applause] Wiggins with a screen on James. Rejected by James. What a denial. LeBron attacking that shot with pinpoint accuracy. Los Angeles has gone two of five from deep. James passes to Smart. Second chance effort and it’s good on the layin. Have to take care of the defensive boards better than that. Yeah, you just can’t afford to give up second chance opportunities again and again. Gives us a chance to catch up with Alli Leforce. Hey Brian, the Thunder have some grit. Coach Mark Dagnald said, “We compete and on nights we aren’t, we get back to that very quickly. The competition level and the willingness to do it together is the foundational piece.” Brian. All right, Ally. Good stuff there. Thank you. Smart is a pest on defense and absolutely relentless in transition, too. Outside Williams. [Applause] Back to Joe. Jacks up a three. Knocks down the long J. And they keep trading punches. Both teams in a groove early. Who’s going to miss first? Every time one team scores, the other team right back at you. Well, it’s rare to see a young player as efficient as Jaylen Williams. Bren Ba, it’s been remarkable, especially when you factor in that this guy is relied on for a lot of shooting. I mean, his shooting volume is very high. This is a blossoming star for this team and I’m not sure we can put a ceiling on what that potential is. Now here’s Wallace. Hartinstein with a screen on Smart down low and Hartenstein slams it in. Good play call and good execution. The offense running on all cylinders. Smart looking around. Lets a three fly. sends it home from three-point land. Smart has got seven points in the game. Pretty much no one’s going to pass up a shot like that so much for the defense. Pass to Williams. [Applause] Rejected by James. Now the Lakers moving it up. Here’s connect pounded by Wiggins to the paint. James against Williams. James double teamed left side. Vanderbilt. Here’s connect beyond the ark. Harkinstein pulls it in. 19 seconds left to play in the first. Now here’s Wallace defended by Smart. Now Wallace. Hartinstein with a screen on Smart. Lets it go from deep. He drops it from range. Wallace has gotten his second bucket of the game. And so both teams trading buckets as we end the first quarter. It’s the Thunder. They lead by one. Don’t go away. We’ll be back with the second quarter in just a moment. And close game underway so far. We’ll see if either of these teams can jump out ahead in this second quarter. All right, guys. What do you think so far about the offensive approach for the Thunder? Yeah, their early focus on outside scoring has paid off. They’re finding plenty of points from three-point land. Yeah, getting to the inside is really important, but it’s how close you can get to the basket. It feels like these guys are all around the rim in their attack tonight. And so in the game for Los Angeles, Jared Vanderbilt out there with Hayes. Then there’s Marcus Smart. Then it’s connect and it’s Donuchin at the two. Los Angeles has gotten three of their seven threes to find the net in this matchup. Here’s Connect. Pounded by Wiggins. And it’s Connect missing. And so it’s Wiggins with it. He brings it up for the Thunder. Wallace. The pass to Hartinstein. And here’s Gilis Alexander. Hartinstein with a screen on Donic. Gilis Alexander. Good. And we’re all too familiar with these kind of outbursts from SGA. Donic outside. And we’re now about a minute into this second quarter of play. Here’s Vanderbilt and Vanderbilt slams it in. Really heads up there. A play where you locate the best open pass and then you get it there for an easy bucket. Outside Williams pass to Wallace. Hardenstein with a screen on Donic. Here’s Wallace. It’s Hayes with a rebound. Not going to see that very often. The defense in the vicinity, but still he’s not one to blow layups. Now here’s Smart. Just five on the clock. Brett, how much importance do you put on coaching at the pro level? Well, BA, it’s huge. And I think the the best coaches in the league are the best relationship builders. I mean, it’s not about the tactics. Everybody’s running the same plays and trying to take advantage of the same things. It really comes down to the connectivity between the coach and understanding each and every player you have on your team. [Applause] First free throw is good. And so Smart nails them both. Oklahoma City trailing. And here in the second, two minutes gone by. [Applause] Smart against Gilas Alexander. That three is off the mark. Well, the D really getting away with one there. No one on him. And that’s going to be good nine out of 10 times. Oklahoma City has gone 0 for two from outside in the second quarter. Pass to Hardenstein. Williams up top. Here’s Wallace. Back to Williams. [Applause] Wallace outside. Hardenstein a screen. Wallace’s shot is good. Wallace has got nine. Well, plenty of give and take so far. Yeah, six lead changes already. Both teams came to play. That’s tipped. Gilas Alexander looking it over. Wiggins outside. Wallace. The pass to Gilas Alexander. The shot off that time for Los Angeles. They’ve gone just one of three to begin the second quarter. Hayes up top pass to Donic for three. Hartinstein pulls it in. Oklahoma City has gotten six of 11 threes to go in this game. Wiggins passes to Gilis Alexander [Applause] and a little under three and a half minutes elapsed here in the second quarter. Just four to shoot. Williams from long range. Donic pulls down the board. Donic has got four rebounds in the game. Shoots off the stepbacks. Oh, Luca playing grown man ball inside. Oh, Luca is so skilled at using his body to create good looks inside. Gilg Alexander passes to Wallace. takes the three. It’s rebounded by Los Angeles. Smart outside. And a fast break now for the Thunder. Williams in the post working on Vanderbilt. Good D by Vanderbilt to the middle. Here’s Donic. Luca, get off me. And when he puts it all together, look at the kind of night Luca can have. Wow. Wallace. The pass to Hardenstein. Hardenstein. A screen inside. And Hardenstein slams it in. Oh, what ferocity on the throw down. I just love when he goes up with purpose. Where was the D right there? The effort lacking big time. There’s some ways to get your coach’s attention and that draws the coaching staff’s eye. Here’s Donic after the basket by Oklahoma City. Wow. Deep shot from Luca. Defense was all over Donic. So he smartly uses a pick to get free to shoot. [Applause] The open shot by Gilas Alexander. Nice touch on the bank shot. Gilas Alexander’s got 16 points now. [Applause] Now here’s Donic. He’s got 16. Oh, Donic unfased by the defense. Oh my. Tight defense, but Donic just muscles it in. Outside Williams. Pass to Wallace. Hartinstein with a screen on Donic. Wallace’s shot is good. He’s got 11. Terrific design and execution leading to an opportunity right at the rim. Donic outside to the inside. Here’s Wallace. 11 points in the game. Pass to Hardenstein. outside. Gilg Alexander fires the three. SGA from distance. SGA doesn’t rely on the three to get his points, but man, when it’s falling, watch out. [Applause] Donic outside. [Applause] Oh, that’s his eighth make of the game. He’s only missed four so far. That’s been the story of their offense so far. Getting a number of looks from point blank range. Gilg Alexander passes to Wallace. Hartinstein with a screen on Donic. The three is up. Tries again and Hartinstein gets it to go. Second chances are a great measure of what a team is doing in terms of their effort on a nightly basis. And that was some serious effort there. And so JJ Reic calls for the timeout. Henley Dor, he’s checked in for Wiggins. And it’s Alex Caruso in for Wallace. Aton passes to Reeves. Now Donic Aiden a screen on Gilis Alexander. Well Aiden and efficiency go hand in hand. I mean this guy’s field goal percentage is on cloud9. Los Angeles shooting there. Sixth and seventh free throw attempts tonight. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. [Applause] That’s good from Aiden. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] That one misses. So he goes one for two. And Williams has got the ball here for the Thunder. It’s rebounded by Los Angeles. Eightton’s got four rebounds now. Out of bounds. It’ll be Oklahoma City’s ball. The Thunder making a switch here. Joe’s checked in. The Lakers also with a sub. Vincent’s checked in for Luca Donuch. [Applause] Oklahoma City has gone seven of 15 from distance in this game from deep. Homegrren gets rebounded by Los Angeles. Would you say testing the limits of his range there? Well, I thought they played smart and then all of a sudden it was maybe a little too flashy there and that uh that’s unfortunate. And here’s Reeves outside. The shots good on the assist by James. James has got three assists in the game. [Applause] Williams passes to Dort. And here’s Hongrens up a three. Bullseye. Chad hitting for three. And you can already tell Holgren has an edge to his game. Gets the three right back. That’s the competitive streak you need as a young player. You know, after sitting out his first pro year due to a foot injury, Chad Homegrren was well worth the wait, Grant. Yes, he was. And Chad was actually guarding LeBron during a summer proan game when he hurt his foot. But Chad was a monster his rookie year. Already an elite shot blocker. And the Thunder in possession here following the score by the Lakers. Williams Benson grabs a miss. The Lakers have gotten eight of 12 attempts to drop since the beginning of the second. And he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So he’ll take two free throws. It’s going to be on Jaylen Williams. Just shake your head at the size of LeBron James and once he gets into the paint and gets pinled around, gets that contact and finds free throws. And he makes a first. Topic is checked in for Oklahoma City. [Applause] and he can’t hit the second. And coming off a major injury, Chad Homegrren was unbelievable in his first full season. Bren, doesn’t it feel like BA he poured the concrete and a solid foundation for what his career is going to be all about. I mean, a terrific big with skill, size, toughness. The sky is the limit for this guy. And it’s good for two. Topic has got his first bucket in this one. And despite the height disadvantage, oh my, he just attacks that interior. Yeah, no stopping him on that play. Sometimes even the taller defenders are helpless to stop him. Now here’s Caruso down low. Here’s Homegrren. Bam. Chad rocking the rim. And before he even leaves the floor, Homegrren has the ball at rim level. A chance here to catch up with Ally from the sideline. Ted Homegrrim makes up for his light frame with aggression. He said, quote, “You don’t have to take a second look at me now to know that I’m not the biggest dude widthwise, so I have to hit first, otherwise the game’s not going to go in my favor when things get physical.” Brian, you agree? I do. And you can tell he just refuses to back down. All now here’s Caruso pass to Dort fires for three. LeBron with the rebound. Given his range, you’d expect him to capitalize on that opening. [Applause] On the wing, Reeves. He’s guarded by Caruso. Double team on James. Clock at six. Back to Aiden. And Aiden with the stuff. The coaching staff has to like that as he picks apart the defense there in the pick and roll play. Caruso outside. [Applause] [Music] The kick out to Williams. Over James. It’s rebounded by Los Angeles. You won’t see him miss that one too many times. Yeah, that happens. Important thing is for players, just don’t beat yourself up and make a miss like that cost you another play. Now, here’s Aiden. Nine points in the game and the foul called on Jaylen Williams. That’s his third foul so far. Oklahoma City making a switch here. Wallace has checked in. [Applause] Vincent outside. Kick it out. Kick it out. Five to shoot. fires top of the key. That one’s good for two. And it’s Caruso with the ball for the Thunder. 8second difference between the shot clock and game clock. Wallace outside. [Applause] Williams on the wing. He’s covered by Vincent. Williams shot is good. Williams has got six. We talk about Williams versatility as a scorer. He can get his points from just about any spot on the floor. James inside a Merurl from long range. That one is off. It’s a tie game in Oklahoma City. And time now for the halftime break with the third quarter soon to follow on 2K Sports. [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] And as we get into this third quarter, as we’ve seen so far, neither team able to create much separation on on the scoreboard. Boy, really an incredible game here from Luca Donic. Through two quarters of play, he’s been an excellent source of points. Yeah, he’s he’s shouldering the load right now and looking really comfortable while he’s doing it. And the Thunder in possession here. Shay and Caruso are the backcourt pair. In it forward, it’s Dordan Williams. And it’s Homegrren in at the center position. That’s the lineup out there for the Thunder. Step back and fire. And Reeves pulls it down. He expects to make every one of those, and we expect him to make them, too. Gilgis Alexander against Donic. And a foul called on the way up. So he’ll take two from the free throw line. And this team’s offensive catalyst. Donic puts pressure on the defense every possession. And this will be a second trip to the free throw line. [Applause] That free throw no good. [Music] [Applause] He hits the second from the line. I’m sure he wanted to hit all his free throws, but at least he gave his team the lead. Caruso outside. Back to Gilis Alexander. [Applause] Dort the pass to Caruso. [Applause] Now here’s Homegrren. Takes a three, drills it from deep. Homegrren’s got 10. Yeah, it’s just too easy for Homegr. Man, is he fun to watch operate off the catch. The Lakers trail. Hayden with a screen from deep. Here’s Donic. Williams grabs the board. Williams has got four rebounds now. Oh, and he took a hard foul on the shot. So, he’ll head to the line to shoot a pair. And even from where we’re sitting, you could clearly tell it was a foul. Oklahoma City shooting their third and fourth free throw attempts of the game. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. And the first one at the line is good. [Applause] You got it. You got it. He’s perfect from the line this time. Lakers trail by four. Pass to Aiden. [Music] Donic against Gilis Alexander. [Applause] Now here’s Donic. The D’s right on him. And here’s James. He’s got 13. Four on the clock now. Aimura tipped. Williams with it. Now Donic defending. getting up. Wow, what a play. Ooh, and power down. What a jam. And we see the speed and power. I mean, Williams shows off on that one. And we’re just about 2 minutes into the final half of play now. Donic outside. And so the ball out of bounds. Gilg Alexander touched it last. Almost had the steal. You have to love the pressure defense. Yeah. Pestering right now and that’s going to pay some dividends. At some point there’s going to be a turnover. Aton passes to Aimura. Here’s Donic. [Applause] This is his third trip to the free throw line in this game. And he drops a first. Wallace. He’s checked in for Shay Gilis Alexander. Donic hits them both. Thunder leading by four. Caruso the pass to Wallace. [Applause] Williams on the wing. Checked by James. Gor for three and Aiden pulls it down. Aiden’s got six rebounds in the game. Caruso against Reeves. Pass to James. Reeves with the ball to the paint. James finds Donic. The shots good on the assist by James. James has got his fourth assist in this one. The Thunder have gotten two of four shots to go since the break. Clock keeps going. Three minutes into the second half now. And here’s Homegr outside Williams. Just five to shoot. Williams with the screen. Here’s Wallace. And the three-pointer goes. Wallace has got 14. These teams are finding the range. Showing a lot of confidence. It seems like they’re going to find out who can make the deepest threes. Right now, it’s a shootout. Now here’s Reeds. Pass to James over Williams. James can’t get it to go. Thunder leading by four. Here’s Williams. Checked by James. Williams against James. Good on the shot. Williams has got six here in the corner. Well, that play never gets old. The pick and roll will still be an offensive staple a 100red years from now. Trust me. Pass to Donic. [Applause] James outside and another three for the Lakers. Now when LeBron’s shooting like that, nothing you can do defensively. And Williams has got the ball here for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Three-point lead on the wing. Caruso back to Williams. puts up the eight-footer. The Lakers with a rebound. James passes to Donic. Played it in with a nice touch off the window. And now just a one-point Thunder lead. When it’s this close, every bucket matters. You need good looks. Outside, Williams. [Applause] Back to Caruso over Reeves and there’s Caruso. That one’s good on the assist from Williams. Lakers trail by three. Donic passes to Aiden. To the middle. Here’s Hachimura and he takes it in for the layup off a very nice feed. Yeah, Hachimura flexing on the inside. Now Oklahoma City’s gone two of three from outside so far in the third quarter. [Applause] down the triple. Wallace has got 17. Exactly what every offense needs, shooters who can force the defense to extend. Oh, there’s no doubt he’s a legitimate threat from downtown and he’s demonstrating that in this game. Reeves finds James. Caruso against Reeves. Out to James. No good on the triple. Oklahoma City leading by four. Wallace outside. Pass to Homegrren. Homegrren with a screen on James. Here’s Williams. It’s rebounded by Los Angeles. Aton’s got seven rebounds in the game. And here’s Donic. Watched by Wallace. Let’s go with a three. Oh, Luca with a deep one. Defensively, you can’t afford to get stuck on the pick. That’s one that the coaches will watch tomorrow with that player. You hate to see him give up in that situation. Williams against James. Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him coming up. And let’s quickly check out the scoring breakdown here for the Thunder. Their offensive game plan has been simple. Look to shoot it often from outside the ark. And the results have been outstanding. Their attacking of the offensive glass has also been a success story. All game long. They’ve been committed to finding those second chance opportunities. The first one falls. Hardenstein. He’s checked in for Oklahoma City. Smarts checked in for the Lakers. [Applause] And that’s good as he hits both shots. Lakers trail by three. Pass to Aiden. And here’s Reeves for the tie. And the Lakers hit again from deep. Well, LeBron is a guy who can score from anywhere. He’s comfortable taking long range shots. Williams passes to Hartinstein. Now Wallace defended by Smart. Hartinstein with a screen on Smart. And Hardenstein slams it in. Sometimes you like to see guys go with the bounce pass, threading it through there perfectly for Los Angeles. They’ve gotten six of 10 shots to fall in this third quarter and already one of the more consistent three-point shooters. Kase Wallace is lethal from outside. Bren, really impressive BA in his first year to shoot over 40% for three. Pretty selective in the ones he took, but still his number one attribute is how disruptive he can be defensively at that guard position. Here’s Williams following the score by Los Angeles. Caruso outside. Pass to Homegrren inside. Oh, deflected. James with a steal and he loves it up top. Oh, and the jam by Aton. As long as passes are in that area, Aton’s going to get up and go down. Outside Williams back to Wallace. Homegrren with it. Williams up top. Unloads. Oh, the Thunder tack on two more. Two teammates connecting right there. Slick feed. James outside. Back door. Reeves. The pass to James. Donic with it from behind the ark. Hardenstein pulls it in. Hardenstein’s got five rebounds tonight. To the inside. It’s Homegrren high post. James is there. Screen by Homegrren. Williams from long range. They grab their own miss. Second chance effort and the layup is up and in. Williams has got 12 points now in the quarter and the vision is far past his years. Williams with great decision making. Donic on the wing. He’s guarded by Caruso. Back to James. Here’s Donic. Oh, Luca cleans it up and scores the basket. How about the hustle from Donic, a winning player. Williams with it. 18 points for him. Hardenstein a screen. Pass to Wallace. There’s the triple. Ooh, he’s found his rhythm. Seven for 10 in counting. He is such a smart player. Jaylen Williams making people around him better. And here’s Smart. He’ll bring it up for the Los Angeles Lakers. They trail by three. For three, James Hartinstein pulls it in. And the defense got away with one there. I mean, that’s the shot he typically makes. There’s the double with Donic. Williams finds Homegrren. Wallace outside. And there’s the drive from 11 ft away. Rebound by the Lakers. Eightton’s got rebound number eight now. Pass to Reeves. Now here’s Smart. Now here is James. He’s guarded by Caruso. And there’s James on the assist from Smart. James has got 21. This is what James does. Scores the ball and does it in so many different ways. Wallace. The pass to Hartinstein. Here’s Williams. Caruso outside. Oh, it’s stolen by Donic for the lead. The Thunder pull it in. All alone from mid-range. You got to think he’s kicking himself. [Applause] Williams passes to Hartinstein. Caruso outside. Shot clock at six. launches a three and Reeves pulls it down. Los Angeles has gone four of nine from beyond the arc since the break. with the slam here in the second half. This game still nip and tuck. Just an insane amount of lead changes. The fans are getting their money’s worth. Oh, what a performance by Luca Donic. He has been the story for the Los Angeles Lakers. His fingerprints were all over that quarter. 13 points, leading the charge. We’ll be right back after this word. And now we have a moment to reveal our State Farm assist of the game. You talk about painting a magnificent picture with that, Don. Just a great decision and a perfect delivery. Yeah, those are the kind of plays that you’ll want to put on a canvas. Just beautiful basketball and it’s been a very competitive game so far as we get rolling here in quarter number four. And so in the game for Los Angeles, they’ve got connect. Luca Donuch is out there with Gabe Vincent. Then there’s Jared Vanderbilt. And it’s Hayes in at the center position. Has to connect. Donic outside. lets it go from deep on target from range. Donic has got 16 in the second half. That’s a clutch shot by a big time shooter. And where’s the D outside? Williams. Gilas Alexander with a ball. He’s covered by Vincent. Hardenstein a screen inside. Hartenstein slams it in. SGA with some good movement creating an easy opportunity for a teammate. The Lakers in the lead. Donic feeling it out a bit. [Applause] Two points. That one goes. Donic has got 38 points. It’s winning time. And that’s a winning play. Gilas Alexander on the wing. He’s covered by Vincent. Just Alexander does a good job of just staying aggressive and that just forces the defense to do something. And what do you guys think so far about the offensive approach for the Lakers? They’ve been all about high percentage looks in this game, working the ball inside and doing whatever it takes to get it to go. And throughout the game, the mid-range area has been their bread and butter, continuing to pull up from there with a tremendous amount of confidence. That free throw good from Gilgus Alexander. Both free throws good from Gilas Alexander. You know, Shay Gilis Alexander has so many of the qualities that you want in a leader. He fights, he’s energetic, he’s a team first guy, and he just looks for ways to get his guys fired up. And here’s Donic outside. Kilchis Alexander with a rebound. Oklahoma City trailing. Joe on the wing guarded by Donic. Joe the pass to Gilis Alexander. [Applause] And they’re going to count that bucket and they’ll send him to the line. It could be a three-point play. Never dialed back. SGA determined on the finish. Labra has checked in for Lawson. Find the lane. Find the lane. One shot. So, it’s Los Angeles now. It’s a one-point game. Donic outside. 43 and it’s out of bounds. The Lakers able to retain possession here. Oklahoma City making a switch here. Williams has checked in and the Lakers also making a switch. Cadex checked in for Larabia. [Applause] Shot from the inbound. Donic. No good. Wiggins against Donic. Pass to Joe from outside the ark. And another miss by Oklahoma City for Los Angeles. They’ve gone two of five from the field in this final quarter. Here’s Donic and once again off the mark by Los Angeles. [Applause] Outside Gilis Alexander. Williams with the screen. Takes the three. Gil Alexander no good. Los Angeles has gone one for three in the fourth quarter from range. And stolen by Williams. Joe on the wing. He’s covered by Vincent Wiggins from long range. Hits the three-pointer and the Thunder lead by four. Well, if you came here looking for a scoring battle, I think you made the right choice. Yeah, both of these teams locked in on the offensive end. Going to be a highscoring affair tonight. Has to connect looking to win the run. The Thunder with the rebound. Gilas Alexander with the ball. Vincent picks him up. Gilas Alexander passes to Wiggins. Tries again and that’s two points on the layup. And now a six-point Thunder lead. Such a big part of what he does for this team. Just work and work on the boards, generate second chance opportunities, and hopefully convert. And we’ve got a top check in with Alli Leforce. I was able to listen in on what JJ Reick was going over with his team. He had some words of confidence for his team, saying, “All it takes is a few chances. We make a few plays down the stretch, we can steal this thing from them.” Back to you guys. Okay, thank you, Ally. Lakers trail by six. Donic outside. There’s a screen to win the drought. The rebound by Wiggins. They are really struggling to stop this run. Frustration seems to be mounting here. And you can see not just in their faces but right now in their quick and hurried shot selection pass to Donic. Here’s the teardrop. Count it. And the foul. It’s going to be on Isaiah Joe. And going right through the contact. Luca has tremendous strength especially for a guy who handles the ball so much. [Applause] That’s good from Donic. Thunder leading by three. [Applause] Now Gilgus Alexander. [Applause] Benson grabs a miss. The Lakers have gotten just three of nine shots to go in. Struggling this fourth quarter. Outside Reeves. Here’s Donic. He shoots again and he takes it up and lays it in. Donic has got 43 points and just great intensity down the stretch. I mean, he really wants to rock with the game on the line. Well, take a look at him locked in right now in this moment. Wants the ball in his hands and feels real comfortable with the shot he’s taking. He is just so deadly from out there. You expect that to fall. Benson passes to Dantic to take the lead. Williams grabs the board. Trying to end this thing with some big threes, but the accuracy just isn’t there tonight. Gilas Alexander with a ball. Vincent picks him up. Jay Gilis Alexander. That one’s good. Gilas Alexander’s got 27 points. Gilas Alexander creative and tricky on that play. Now here’s Donic. And there’s Reeves. That one’s good on the assist from Donic. Donic has got six assists in the game and Gilis Alexander’s got the ball here for the Thunder. The lead is two to the middle. Here’s Wiggins and it’s flush down. A nice jam. Gilas Alexander with that height at his position allows him to do so many things other guys really pretty much dream of. Donuch outside and he banks in the layup. Donic has got 45 points. Zero rim protection. Unforgivable in a tight ball game like this. Well, I hope there’s one player on that team out there that has interest in winning this game right now. It doesn’t look to be one for Los Angeles. They’ve gone just six of 14 in this final quarter to tie it up. P. [Applause] Here’s Homegrren. That one’s good. And so Gilg Alexander with the assist and the Thunder lead by four. The Lakers have gotten seven of 16 attempts to drop since the start of the fourth. Reeves against Caruso and stolen by Holgrren to the paint. James with a steal. [Applause] Pass to Donic. Unable to get that one. Some solid defense from Gilas Alexander. Here’s Dort. And so he draws the foul headed to the line to shoot a pair. It’s on Ruie Aimura from undrafted to a key rotational player. Lou Dort story is definitely inspirational. Bren, this guy has worked so hard to make himself into an NBA player. But I will tell you this, BA, he’s never not believed that he wasn’t one. And Lugans Dort continues to make improvements. And the guys on the team love the way he approaches it. And that one misses. Lugans Dort just a guy who puts his head down and goes to work. He gives every bit of focus on every play and teammates love what he brings to the court. I got my man. And he’s good on the second. Two possession game now, but he’d still like to have back that one he missed. [Applause] Gilis Alexander against Donic. Out to James. That one falls. Great setup by Donic. James has got 13 in the second half. You can tell Donic trusts his teammates. He’ll get them looks and doesn’t insist on doing everything himself. Williams. A screen on Donic. Pass to Williams. [Applause] And here’s Caruso outside. It’s rebounded by Los Angeles. Aiden’s got nine rebounds in the game. Boy, he’s getting it done. Down low and stolen by Williams. outside. Gilis Alexander. [Applause] It counts. And the foul. It’s going to be on DeAndre Aton. Well, this is a gravity game right now. Whatever he throws up must come down. He’s having a great game. One shot. Got to get it. Let’s get it. And the Lakers have possession. trailing by five. Donic against Gilgis Alexander. James a screen on Gilis Alexander to the paint and stolen by Williams and up the court come the Thunder. On the break and Homegrren with the basket on the assist from Williams. I just love how he runs the floor with energy and intensity but still stays under control. Yeah, you think he’s comfortable at that speed. He’s done it so many times before. Just an absolute blur in transition and that helps get the rhythm going. Thunder leading by seven. Pass to Caruso. Back to Gilis Alexander. [Applause] Six on the shot clock. Oh, Shay showing no fear inside. It doesn’t get any easier than that. The defense has to play better. And we’ve got a timeout called by JJ Reic. He is not messing around. Calling them into the huddle. [Applause] And here’s James. The basket drops and he gets fouled on the shot. One free throw coming his way. You see LeBron just shrug off that contact there. It’s like nothing even hit him. shooting. That free throw good from James. And so it’s Williams with it. He brings it up for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Their biggest lead of the game was nine. Gilis Alexander against Donuch from deep. Homegrren and that comes off the assist by Gilis Alexander. Homer’s got seven points for the quarter. Ah, a superb three-point threat. When Homegrren is knocking down triples, he’s hard to contain. And he gets it to go as they call the foul. He’s on his way to the line for one more. There’s a touch of artistry to the floater. Takes feel as much as skill. Shooting one. [Applause] Thunder leading by six. Caruso outside. Pass to Gilg Alexander. [Applause] 144 left in the fourth quarter. And for Los Angeles, they’re shooting pretty well in the fourth at 48%. James and it’s James with the jam. Look, give LeBron the ball and get out of the way. LBJ again. Here’s Gilg Alexander. SGA showing off the athleticism there. Wow. Always fun to see point guards who can elevate above the rim like that. Oh, a strong mindset and even stronger finish. Well, just wow. LeBron making some noise. Who else but LeBron could pull that off. Keeping his cool and delivering in the clutch. Dic against Gilgus Alexander. Misses from close range. Lakers trail by four. James left side. The Thunder pull it in. Right side Williams. It’s hauled in by Luca Donuch. So, it’s Los Angeles now. Oh, there’s the alley. Oh, and the jam by Aton. And how about that? Eighton stepping up, wanting the pressure. Expect them to take their time this trip down. Yeah, BA. The clock is theirs to burn. With a screen on Donic. and he buries it. There is absolutely no fear in his eyes. He loves the moment. Love seeing that there. A huge possession and he nets it. And so JJ Reic calls for the timeout. The pressure is on and he’s got a plan to share with his guys. 29 seconds left in the game and it’s Donic missing and he commits the intentional foul. [Applause] put on the first and that puts him up five. [Applause] So he gets them both and it’s a six-point ball game. Free throws always a little bit sweeter and they can add to your lead. Shot clock and game clock 1 second differential. cash and now they trail by just four. Any possession that ends in a shot from that range after a good player and ball movement, that’s a good one. And there’s the intentional foul. No choice but to stop the clock here. Yeah, no choice but to foul in that situation. Although that’s not the guy you want to send to the people alive. [Applause] Oh, the first of two. No good. A heartbreaker. [Applause] And he ends up making the second. And that puts him up five. 15 seconds left in the fourth quarter here. Aimura outside for three. Oh, he buried the three. And they stop the clock as soon as they can with the intentional foul. And a smart choice right there. I mean, you can’t allow them to just drain the clock. [Applause] So, the first one dropped and that makes it a three-point lead. [Applause] And he hits both free throws here and it’s a four-point ball game. Taking care of business at the line, leaving this one out of reach. Aim from long range. Kept alive. I always love the hard work on the glass. Just great activity. And we’ve got a timeout called by Mark Dagno. Great time to call his guys into the huddle at a very tense moment in this game. Heat. [Applause] Heat. Heat. Heat. And now we’ve got an intentional foul. [Applause] And he misses the first one. Boy, he wanted that one to go. [Applause] And he does get the second one. And that makes it a three-point lead. And so it’s the Thunder who come out on top here. That was an incredible night of hoops. A tremendous finish. They waited until the very last moment to seal it. And so many times we see these close games won by the home team. And that’s going to do it tonight, folks, for our broadcast
