Mitchell Robinson Forced To LEAVE The Knicks?! HUGE UPDATE On NY’s Trade Plans… | Knicks News
The Knicks have three players that are eligible for an extension this season. I don’t even think anybody even knows that. How many people know what players are actually extension eligible for the Knicks right now? It’s Carl Anthony Towns. It’s Muel Bridges obviously, but no need anymore. He was just extended. And then it’s Mitchell Robinson. But see, Mitchell Robinson isn’t expiring at this point. And the money with him is always it’s hard to count, right? Injury concerns, injury history. Yes, he was amazing in the playoffs, but how do you adequate that to him missing half the season basically and then having to work his way back into game shape toward the end of the season into the playoffs? Of course, he was impactful in the postseason. We all know that. We’ve all seen it. But being impactful in the postseason, you still are needed in the regular season. And I think that’s why New York is hesitant a little bit to actually give him any type of contract extension. Mikuel is Iron Man. He doesn’t get injured. It’s almost if you could get him for 150 over four years. It’s kind of a steal, right? Because clearly New York feels that he’s valued at a much higher rate than that. But they were able to lock him in for four years, 150. So from the Knicks standpoint, from their vantage point, it’s a steal given the value they gave up to get Bridges in the first place. And I can understand that. But with Mitchell Robinson, what is his real value? He’s likely the most valuable now than he’s ever been in his entire career given that postseason performance. But they can’t afford him. Ladies and gentlemen, shout out to Empire Sports Media for giving us this following information here. According to them, the Muel Bridges extension could put an end to Mitchell Robinson’s Knicks tenure. While the team will be able to keep its main core intact for some time, one player who has been around for a while may see his time in New York come to an end soon. That player is Mitchell Robinson, the team’s longest tenur player. The problem the Knicks are now going to run into is how they keep him long-term without getting hard capped by the second apron. Along with Bridg’s extension, the signings of Gershon Yabaselli and Jordan Clarkson have them right at the second apron, which the team has danced around for the past few seasons. To extend Mitchell Robinson, they would need to make some trades to create cap space. Judging by the Knicks early offseason strategy, breaking up the core does not seem to be in their best interest, which could mean that the attention turns to Robinson and his future. So clearly after the Bridges extension, Mitchell Robinson’s future with the Knicks is in jeopardy. They’re going to have to pay so many players next year. Extensions are going to kick in. They’re going to want to add new new uh personalities, new players to this roster. Not everybody’s going to be retained. And eventually, they’re going to have to go younger. Not because they don’t like Mitch. It’s because the cap concerns, those cap restrictions, they’re going to be real and they’re going to have to go to their rookies or their younger players so that way they can absorb their salaries, which are much less than, you know, a Mitchell Robinson would be. Think about what Ariel Hooki would be or uh Mohamd Di Aara would be in their rookie years on a rookie deal or even their their second contract in the league. It probably wouldn’t be very high. And that’s exactly what the Knicks are banking on. Homegrown talent that they can develop into the next Mitchell Robinson at a significant discount. And I think this upcoming season, they want to see who else steps up in place for Mitchell Robinson because I’m sure they anticipate Robinson will miss games next season. He will have to either load manage, he’s injured, he’s out, whatever, somebody else is going to have to step in. And it looks like that other person, it might be Hucky. Maybe some nights it is. And I think that’s possible. I don’t think we see a Mitchell Robinson extension. The fact that we just saw Mikuel get extended, I don’t think anybody else does. I don’t see Carl Anthony Towns getting extended. I think Mitchell Robinson, they’re gonna wait on. They’re going to see what he can do next season. And based off of that and his performance, they’ll dictate and decide what contract to give him. And that might motivate Mitchell Robinson to have his best year with New York. So, I think it works out for both parties here. you motivate Mitch, you protect yourself in the event that you extend him and then he gets injured or something else happens. At least in this case, you get a chance to wait and see what Robinson can do. And I think that’s really the right move to make here if you’re a New York because when you’re at this level, when you’re at this level with the roster that you have this close from a championship, you’re limited in the moves you can make, but you’re also limited in the mistakes you can make. If you’re making mistakes with a championship roster, it only takes this much to watch it all go away disappear instantly as fast as you’ve created it. So, there’s no need to rush at it if you don’t have to make the right moves when they’re in front of you. Miguel was clearly the right move because they got him for less money than his Max, which is already a win. And they locked them in for four years, helping them with the second apron, financial flexibility, and helping them sign other players in the future. I mean, Brunson did the exact same thing. Mikuel is doing the exact same thing. I feel like everybody who’s going to sign with the Knicks in the future is going to do this because now everybody is doing this for New York. Credit to Leon Rose. Credit to the Knicks front office to be able to pull these type of moves off. Making players who are as good as Brunson and Mckel are take less money for the greater good. The vision of winning a championship, not even one, multiple championships. That’s what your front office is supposed to do. That’s what they’re supposed to do. They’re supposed to convince your talent to stay with the team, take less, and build a contender. Looks like that’s exactly what we’ve done. And you don’t have to take my word for it. Take a look at what the odd makers over at FanDuel put together regarding the latest odds for who’s going to win the NBA championship next season for the 2025 2026 year. And according to them, OKC is number one at plus 230. Then it’s the Cavs at plus 750. Then it’s the New York Knicks at plus 850. Denver and the Rockets are also tied with New York at plus 850 to win the NBA Finals. And then rounding out this list, we have the Orlando Magic at plus,600. But clearly Vegas knows something that we don’t because they’re listing the Knicks as one of the top teams, one of the favorites to win the NBA championship. I think it’s safe to say Leon Rose in this Knicks front office, they created a contender. Remember the update that I dropped on this channel a few weeks ago? I said it. I know you guys remember it. Mikuel Bridges not getting an extension. One factor, Giannis. The fact that Mikuel Bridges has been resigned tells you it’s likely that Giannis attendent Kmpo is staying in Milwaukee. He’s not leaving. He’s not being traded. Now, trade deadline next off season, we can talk about it. But since Muel has been extended now and he can’t be traded for the next 6 months, yeah, it sounds like to me that the Knicks, they’re not going to be doing any type of trades, not for Giannis and not for anybody else. They’re going to be making moves in free agency, but that’s all moving forward. But that’s going to do it for this episode. I hope you enjoyed it and if you did, go ahead and smash that like button, leave a comment below, and of course, guys, please subscribe to the channel. Until next time, Nick fans, take care of yourself, your families, and each other. Peace and
After the Knicks gave Mikal Bridges a 4-Year/150 Million new contract extension they now have limited cap space to re-sign other players that are needed. Mitchell Robinson is also up for an extension with the Knicks this season but after Bridges was paid, Robinson might be being pushed out of New York due to the lack of funds available. We also have a huge update on NY’s trade plans moving forward… Troy Mahabir breaks all of this down!

Mitch is definitely going to be traded in the deadline. I love him and don’t want him to go, but knowing Leon did not draft him he probably has other ideas that’s best for this team.
Mitch should only play about 20 mins a game.
Mitch has to sign with the same salary or little less.
Hart will be traded if Mitch gets an extension.
I love Mitch and hate to say it but this may b our only way out w him… At this moment teams are slightly forgetting how injury prone due to him making everyone his bitch during the playoffs.. highest his trade value will ever be
I’d keep Hukporti and Nnaji on the roster as both injury insurance and as long term assurance. They could also sign and trade him for another asset.
I’d Rather have Mitch than Mikael. See how fast Bridges would be injured if he crashed the boards or attempted a layup. Troy stop being A Mitch Robinson hater.
To be honest, years ago I said, we should trade him as soon as his trade value gets high. We don't need any liabilities out here, we tryna win & compete on the highest level, we can't be out here having people who never available & when they are gives us no offense & can't hit free throws. Nothing personal, I want my team to get a chip, it's been over 50 years.
Sidenote, how the hell is Dever the 4th team they think has the highest odds to win the chip, Jokic a one hit wonder unless injuries happen, he got lucky that year & since then haven't been to the finals, just like Giannis & yet he's the one they throw MVP's at 💀
Thank you Troy ❤❤😊😊
Hokporti would need to progress a lot to replace Mitch.
No Mitch slander. Period!!!!
Smfh!
Oh nahh.. not Mitch😔
Hell No! We need Robinson!
Saving the Knicks money doesn't guarantee anything
Mitch can thrive on a team that looks for him to throw alleys. Brunson has to do too much work to get assist to Mitch here. We would need another point guard who can hande the rock to pair with JB.
Mitch only got hurt because he was doing everything by his self! Now he has great defender around him it's not a problem
Hopefully Mitch wants to take less for the sake of winning with this group
Keep mitch
He’s too one dimensional though and an offensive weakness, unless he gets many offensive rebounds. Not sure about him actually. Maybe Knicks should explore what kind of trade they can get for him. If nothing good, then keep him and give him an extension.
Mitch is so talented and has high value right now. His minutes should be limited to 20.
Cmon leon we cant keep losing our big men ihart now mitch .
People forget so fast without mitch in boston we lose….pay mitch lgk
The NY Knicks have nothing to lose by not resigning Mitchell Robinson next season. The knicks have good young talented Centers. The knicks can easily replace Robinson next year.
If Mitchell Robinson wants to stay with the Knicks. He must play as a bench player with less money 💰.
If not be traded.
Robinson's fate 🙏🕊️
$42.5 million a year is not a steal . Come on! 17ppg and not consistent
On a weak defensive team who thinks we even think of trading Mitch ? Besides host , insiders and haters but you won’t hear that from Leon !
Leon Rose will find a way to pay Mitch. One of the best intimidating Centers in the League.
Kat for Giannis
Thanks for the memories Mitchell…. health concerns 💯 😊
Y'ALL BEEN TRADING MITCH SINCE HE GOT HERE AND IT HASN'T HAPPENED YET. MITCH IS A LIFER
Its up to Mitch… but as an injury prone player, id go where the pay me the most guaranteed money for the sake of my future. Id love to keep Mitchell but i understand either way.
Many might struggle to see Robinson’s narrative holistically… Thibs kept bringing him back way too early after injuries… This last recovery was different for Mitch… he wasn’t rushed back this past year like when Knicks were struggling more in the past… I really don’t think he’s injury prone at this point anymore… but we’ll see this next upcoming season. I believe there is a way to keep him and give him another contract long term without getting hard capped at the second apron without breaking up the core. Let’s see how players do outside the core and revisit this then for trades to happen.
So basically every time we develop somebody we gonna let them go , first Hart , now Mitch , if Huk gets better we gonna loose him too right 🤷🏾♂️
But they gave mikal trash self 150 when he's worth maybe 20 mill. This is just not our year.
Knicks can’t afford to lose Mitch! He is the best defender, better than Mikal and OG. Knicks have no other big that can defend like. The youth is unproven 🤷🏽♂️
Mike not worth the money. Mitch only 1 can play defense. I love jitch
Let him walk and they not even gonna have cap space to sign someone to replace him. Trade him and your defense will suffer badly. Trading him would be a bigger mistake than trading for KAT.
We must keep Mitch b/c we need him 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🩷❤️💕
Troy you need to shut up about M.Robertson
Have to go over the 2nd apron to keep mitch
Mitchell Robinson should be traded. For every rebound or block he gets, he misses more than 1/2 his free throws. Hack-a-Mitch cost us games.
Stop click baiting
Injury prone Mitch has to go.
Do you know that the Knicks was trying to trade KAT to Brooklyn, Troy?
Look into what I just said for anyone who doesn’t know this… and I believe they are still trying to do this
Robinson and 2 seconds
For Royce o Neal and nick richards
This is how we deal with mitch the same way the new york yankees deal with Giancarlo Stanton he sit the regular season and shows up for the playoffs and everybody will be happy
